follow me as I provide ethnographic
consumer Behavior research on packaged
meat products at a grocery store in Long
Island this package meat product
consists of chicken um beef as well as
turkey our first consumer um looks
through the package meat owl he touches
a few products but then decides
that uh he may not be ready to purchase
at that very moment uh he still looks
around but is really undecided about his
purchase and proceeds to walk away not
picking up a package meat product a
second consumer looks as though she
knows exactly what she wants she's
looking down at the package meat product
she looks around a bit but then proceeds
to go back to the initial product that
she was looking at she then proceeds to
pick up a product in at Island puts it
back and goes back to her initial
product she picks it up and she reviews
a few of the other um package meat
products but then decides on the again
the initial product that she wanted to
purchase this took about 30 seconds she
made that decision within 30 seconds and
proceeded with her purchase this couple
right here it's really funny because it
really was the male who was interested
in the meat product the female she was
just looking around casually he this
they were here for about a minute and a
half and he really intently reviewed the
package meat product he even at one
point took one of the packages shook it
glided his hand across the product and
then took another package and shook it
as well really reviewing this package
meat product of to make a a real
determined decision he then proceed to
pick up a package and make his purchase
hey look at this guy this is consumer
number one who had decided to walk away
he came back a few minutes later and
still you know looking through the aisl
and then decides to touch a pack package
meat product he looks around a little
bit more but that same package that he
initially picked up he picks up he takes
it away away and he proceeds to purchase
it this right here consumer number four
um is a father and two sons it was the
son who made the purchase at the time it
was like he knew exactly what he wanted
he picked up that product put it in the
shopping cart and they proceeded to go
on with their shopping
experience it's funny because there's
only a limited time to purchase that
product as you will see here this mom
quickly picks up a package product she
keeps it in her hand as she looks around
at other products she's a bit distracted
because her son is in another owl she
calls from the him and then goes back to
where she initially picked up that
package meat product she looks around a
bit but puts it
places make it a decision and proceeded
