1:02 more of like 30 and up everyone trying

1:06 Days of the burning Crusade and Wrath of
1:08 l k and all that jazz people who are
1:10 like vanilla I'm like okay dude all
1:11 right I want look can we go back to when
1:13 there was like nothing in the game
1:15 please everyone's heard of wow is the
1:16 moral of the story somehow some way
1:18 you've come across it in some kinds of
1:19 different media right maybe your friend
1:20 had it maybe you saw it in the South
1:22 Park episode I don't know you've
1:24 definitely heard of World of Warcraft
1:26 it's been around for more than 20 years
1:28 and it's one of the most popular MMOs
1:30 ever created what the what else is there
1:33 Guild Wars Guild Wars 2 the one piece
1:35 MMO that's coming out is there really an
1:36 MMO one piece game I hope there should
1:38 be with how vast the world is my
1:40 experience with World of Warcraft was I
1:42 didn't have internet growing up so I
1:43 would go over to my friend's house had a
1:45 really shitty tashiba laptop that still
1:48 had the CD ROM mind you at that time it
1:50 was like right towards the end of
1:52 burning Crusade and I remember all my
1:53 friends were playing it and I was like I
1:55 don't think I can afford World of
1:57 Warcraft it's like 15 bucks a month I
1:58 went to Walmart and I got the like a
2:00 battle chest thing I think had the
2:02 original and burning crusade in it or
2:04 something super stoked and then
2:05 immediately I was pissed because like
2:08 immediately uh wrath Lich King came out
2:10 after that and I was like okay I don't
2:12 have I don't got any money for this but
2:13 it was mostly just going over to my
2:15 friend's house either after school or on
2:16 weekends you would just stay up all
2:18 night I didn't really like the game I
2:20 like like leveling up with my friends
2:22 and like the getting swords every time
2:23 I'd go over i' just start a new
2:24 character and we would just like my
2:26 friend would take Aderall and we would
2:28 just order pizzas and make another level
2:30 60 character or whatever that night I
2:33 always liked instances or those dungeons
2:35 I I don't think I ever did a raid like
2:37 going especially in uh burning Crusade
2:39 they had a lot of cool like weird demon
2:41 instances there was one where it ends
2:43 with like a it ends with like a dragon
2:45 fight and then the enemy has like a cool
2:47 sword it's called like hell Cleaver I
2:48 remember I got that I think whenever you
2:50 have it you spin when you attack with it
2:52 or something is it a pole arm it was
2:54 like a two-handed sword I can't remember
2:55 it was big I remember as was a kid
2:56 though I was like this is sick I used to
2:58 draw it and stuff when I was younger I
3:00 was like this is awesome me and my
3:02 digital sword pretty sure I even I swear
3:05 to God I drew like Naruto or no I drew a
3:07 gar with a sword from
3:15 sword a control sand and he has a badass
3:18 sword but with all that being said it's
3:20 crazy to see millions of Die Hard fans
3:22 who dedicate their lives to this game
3:25 still to this day and not just streamers
3:27 get them out me what are you doing bro
3:30 there's like very rabid fans people full
3:32 9o5 jobs come home and they get in with
3:34 their Clans or whatever and they do
3:35 raids or anything else it always
3:37 perplexed me even whenever like it was
3:39 the Heyday of like burning Crusade and
3:40 wrath L King which I'm pretty sure that
3:42 was the most popular time even then I
3:46 was like play Dead Rising you know like
3:48 can we [ __ ] do anything else besides
3:49 this you got to do your daily Quest
3:51 maybe the thing is I never got to
3:53 experience it with like people and be
3:55 like have that kind of relationship with
3:57 the game but it was always fascinating
3:58 and still fascinates me to this day like
4:00 when I go into a stream and I see people
4:02 like there's streamers who get 20,000
4:04 plus viewers just watching a guy sit
4:06 there and and like it's just like you
4:08 look at the screen tons of green I'm
4:10 trying to see if I can barter with boots
4:11 with this guy but he's just not it's
4:14 like what the like what but people they
4:17 love it they love it they love it and I
4:18 think it's time to take a look into
4:20 World of Warcraft to see what makes the
4:23 game so important to people why is the
4:25 game so important something that brought
4:27 this idea back to life to me recently
4:29 was there's some World of Warcraft drama
4:31 going going on we don't have a lot to
4:34 talk about all right it has to do with
4:36 only fangs which is a World of Warcraft
4:38 classic Guild that blew up within the
4:40 streaming Community it was made by one
4:42 of Wild's biggest streamers soda Poppin
4:44 it is a role-play server with a 100
4:45 other popular streamers in a race to
4:48 defeat ragnaros in the 40-man Molton
4:51 core raid and you have awesome creators
4:53 in it like mizkif
4:57 xqc and Tyler one who I am dubbing the
5:00 world's greatest gamer I like that I
5:02 what can't the man do nothing at least
5:04 in the confines of video gam how the you
5:06 be like master in league and then you
5:08 end up like ranking like a high rank in
5:11 chess I think it was grandm in chess
5:13 grandmas in chess like Magnus Carlson do
5:14 you what pisses me off more than
5:16 anything can I say something and you
5:17 know what you anybody can take this and
5:19 they can run with it I don't give a fck
5:21 I'm putting my my my my opinion out
5:22 there nothing infuriates me more than
5:24 seeing when I'm on my phone Doom

5:46 show up on time and get the job done cuz

5:48 someing polish guy sitting there and

5:52 like the only things Guild takes place
5:54 in a hardcore server meaning a death in
5:56 the game resulted in a complete
6:01 character restart the absolute tragedy
6:04 my word while this risk factor amped up
6:06 the ENT entertainment value it was also
6:09 the cause of intent internet drama and
6:10 people love
6:13 drama the streamer pirate software was
6:14 kicked from a guild after a
6:16 controversial play that infuriated the
6:20 entire internet during a dire Mall run
6:22 the streamer and his five level 60
6:24 friends tried to retreat during a
6:27 dangerous encounter two members ended up
6:28 dying and the others were quick to blame
6:30 pirate software for not using his
6:33 abilities to slow the enemies instead he
6:35 buffed himself and ran away as fast as
6:37 possible claming had no Mana left to
6:40 help them out I can help lot y yep yep

6:47 Savage damn so are we in the hardcore
6:48 server or not there's a bunch ofing

7:54 kicked from The Guild entirely P got
7:58 kick oh my God good luck sleeping at
8:00 night buddy and a stay on Twitter pirate
8:01 reveals that he had received thousands
8:03 of death threats on top of being doxed
8:05 all over the Internet including in-game
8:07 all for a stupid mistake made in a while
8:09 server there's almost nothing a person
8:12 could do to be doxed online and death
8:14 threats seeing all this crazy [ __ ]
8:16 happen is kind of what sparked me to
8:17 want to do this video I'll be honest I
8:19 don't really give a fck about the drama
8:21 I don't I don't care I really don't care
8:23 about the video game itself I'm more
8:25 interested in people's fascination with
8:27 the video game it's not about that if
8:28 you came here for that that's it's not
8:32 about that that's the last put a bow on
8:34 that it's done bye-bye but it's insane
8:36 to think that a few people dying in a
8:37 video game could push a group of people
8:39 to threaten someone's life which feels
8:41 stupid to say because at the same time
8:43 as I say that out loud I've it's
8:45 happened many times before and probably
8:47 even with this game sure you could have
8:49 a caveat right it's a hardcore server
8:51 these people's lost over 100 hours of
8:53 their lives leveling up these characters
8:55 so no wonder people feel so passionate
8:56 about the Betrayal right and also you're
8:59 on a streaming thing and people are tied
9:01 up with emotional response to their
9:03 favorite creators and all that kind of
9:05 stuff I get it entirely but still it's a
9:07 bit silly it's a bit we're in silly Town
9:09 put on your silly hat we're in silly
9:11 town all I know is that if my Minecraft
9:13 server got deleted because of a streamer
9:15 I would dox send death threads I was on
9:17 a hardcore server and someone didn't use
9:18 their magical abilities to slow down the
9:20 enemy so I could get away and they could
9:22 help and I got killed and I had to reset
9:23 my character on this hardcore server I
9:25 would either one I would kill myself or
9:27 I would dox and I would strangle to
9:28 death the person that was responsible
9:29 those are the two and only options I'd
9:31 either put a gun in my mouth and blow up
9:33 mying brains or I would dox the person
9:34 that did that and I would stringle them
9:36 with my bare Fist and it led me to think
9:38 this if there's people that are taking
9:40 it this seriously this event this
9:41 seriously with world Warcraft there's
9:43 got to be something I'm missing with the
9:44 hype of this game with the lore with
9:46 everything there's got to be something
9:48 I'm missing and I want to find out what
9:51 it is which leads us into the history of
9:57 Warcraft I don't how me shoot like a
10:00 spell like a like a World of Warcraft

13:17 expansions what were they M of Pandaria

14:57 game had lost the magic which pushed
14:59 people to develop and run unofficial
15:01 private vanilla servers of the game as
15:03 blizzard refused to accommodate the
15:04 players yearning for the original World
15:06 of Warcraft experience people wanted to
15:07 go back to the original days and
15:09 blizzard was like I'm not [ __ ] doing
15:10 that so people took it upon themselves
15:13 to do it a BlizzCon they're like no one
15:15 really wants that have you ever thought
15:17 about adding servers for previous
15:20 expansions as they were then no and by
15:22 the way you don't want to that to do
15:25 that either you think you do but you
15:27 don't anything blizzard does in a like
15:28 convention style thing is usually there
15:30 there always something funny I always
15:31 like the Diablo mobile announcement that
15:33 was like one my favorite uh is this a
15:36 out of season April April Fool's joke
15:37 and the response to that is what you
15:38 guys not have

15:51 you guys all have which one of the most
15:53 popular of these vanilla servers was
15:56 nostalrius which reached over 800,000

16:06 keeping the vanilla servers running
16:08 forcing it to shut down on April 10th
16:10 2016 which was about a year after its
16:12 launch people are just having fun
16:14 playing the game you make and then
16:15 Wizards comes in they're just like hey s
16:18 come here come here real quick shut shut
16:20 this thing down right now seriously
16:22 hundreds of thousands of signatures were
16:24 made on a petition to keep it running
16:26 but to no avail petitions don't can we
16:27 just say that right now petitions don't

16:34 at all people mourn the closure of the
16:36 server hoarding together for its final
16:37 moments and it's actually pretty crazy

16:48 and it was only a year later at BlizzCon
16:51 2017 Blizzard's annual convention when

16:58 that brings players back to the vanilla

17:04 pleased and also a little bit nervous to
17:06 announce the development of a classic
17:14 Warcraft this was an immensely
17:15 profitable decision one that brought in
17:17 millions of dollars and proved to be a
17:20 success even today more people I think
17:23 play classic servers than retail more
17:24 people probably play the classic version
17:26 than the retail version or did they
17:29 realize you could be a panda
17:31 do they realize you can be a panda and
17:32 go experience Kung Fu Panda in world

19:21 was he did it because he's like oh if
19:22 they do that they're going to think I

20:10 league and people freak out out that I'm
20:13 not keyboard savvy so I'm always like

20:19 a guild run by a wife and husband wife
20:21 drove two hours to have an affair with
20:22 another Raider in the guild husband
20:24 found out lost his [ __ ] drove 2 hours to
20:26 try and fight the guy but got arrested
20:27 during the confrontation if you're
20:29 wondering neither the marriage nor the
20:31 guild survived we had that too we had a
20:33 guild also had like a husband and wife
20:36 couple and it really affected the rating
20:38 when the wife was pregnant and had to go
20:39 into labor she was our healer well it's
20:41 going to happen you know it's like are
20:43 we okay so are we raiding or are we
20:45 having a kid like can we choose what are
20:48 we doing here the amount of crazy
20:50 interactions guilds probably have isn't
20:52 like the stories to be like a fly on the
20:54 wall in some like crazy in some wow
20:56 Tavern and hear some of that stuff
20:58 another post says old raid leader played
21:00 clear favorites with a new tank cheated
21:02 on his wife with a new tank and then
21:04 left his wife for the new tank then he
21:06 went on Jeopardy and lost cuz he's aing
21:08 loser the idea of an affair happening in
21:11 World of Warcraft is absurd he played
21:13 really well today you know if you want
21:14 these boots you can have them it's
21:16 absurd it has to be the least sexy
21:18 environment ever right well when your
21:21 mind sees those pixels on screen your
21:22 brain starts how much of that do you
21:24 think too is like them being enthralled
21:26 with like the fantasy of the game but
21:28 they look at the game as an escape and
21:29 then there's someone in the game that
21:32 they like or do what like there's no
21:35 lines of reality anymore also well I
21:36 mean if you're an adult makes sense I
21:39 remember I was like 8 or 10 I played
21:41 this game called Haba Hotel anyways
21:43 there was a character that was a girl
21:44 character and I fell in love I didn't
21:46 even know if they were a real woman it
21:47 can happen I will say this I have a
21:49 buddy named Aaron they've been married
21:51 they've been together forever they've
21:53 been married and have two wonderful kids
21:56 now so Love Can Happen anywhere which I
21:57 guess if you're just casually

22:16 fan died from a stroke and out of
22:17 respect for their fallen guild member
22:19 his guildmates and Friends decided to
22:20 hold a funeral in Winter Spring to say
22:22 their goodbyes as wholesome as this may
22:24 seem things took a dark turn when they
22:25 decided to open the invitation to
22:28 Alliance factions as well the guil
22:30 Serenity Now caught wind of this and
22:32 decided to enact a brutal raid on the
22:33 funeral leading to a massacre of
22:35 attendees who were simply there to mourn
22:37 their dead friend so this this is in the
22:39 game it's the red wedding it's the Red
22:46 Warcraft this frame
22:50 rate it was a tragic day we're morning I
22:52 like that think someone's Ste at their
22:54 desk by their keyboard and they're like
22:58 no no it is up that the guy died in real
22:59 life and it was like them getting
23:01 together from other all these people
23:02 from probably different parts of the
23:04 world and they're just like this is nice
23:06 some guy from The Alliance is just like
23:09 we're going to [ __ ] kill all of them
23:10 last year A World of Warcraft YouTuber
23:12 was forced to stop making YouTube
23:15 content over death threats Mad Skills HC
23:16 a YouTuber that focused his channel
23:18 around content where he entered hardcore
23:20 wild service to kill bot players this is
23:21 something that blizzard has been trying
23:24 to fight off for a long time via Mass
23:26 bands but this man decided to take it
23:29 into his own hands Little P
23:30 he's like he's like the Batman of World
23:32 of Warcraft there these Bots are created
23:33 by players that are farming gold to sell
23:35 it later because this is a hardcore
23:36 server dead Bots lose all the gold
23:38 they've accumulated which is a huge
23:39 setback for these gold Farmers this has
23:41 resulted in the YouTuber catching a wave
23:43 of death threats some emails showed
23:44 screenshots from Discord channels in
23:47 Taiwan and Russia where they detailed
23:48 how they were going to cut off his
23:50 fingers and feed them to his family I am
23:53 going to [ __ ] cut off your fingers
23:56 and feed it to your dog after initially
23:57 claiming his channel could no longer
23:58 continue it seems that he has has
24:00 continued to make bot hunting content so
24:01 perhaps he got over his fear of the bot
24:03 Mafia doing him any harm so he didn't
24:06 shut down his channel yeah what the [ __ ]
24:08 what all right well I thought he did

24:12 Farmers for gold is there a lot of money
24:15 to be made in world Warcraft oh really
24:17 oh yeah like could it be a full-time
24:19 could could you selling [ __ ] in world
24:21 Warcraft be a full-time job probably you
24:22 could be a gold farmer cuz there's
24:24 websites that people sell gold you can
24:27 also be a level like Level Up characters
24:28 well I used to follow this guy called
24:31 wow Hobs and people would pay him to run
24:33 through dungeons to level up all right
24:35 we also got another post of what is the
24:36 craziest wow ruin my life story you've
24:38 ever heard and someone said my best
24:40 friend had moved West to a major city
24:41 and was enjoying it after growing up in
24:43 small towns and he suggested he come out
24:45 here and find work to now that he just
24:46 graduated high school he was always
24:48 diligent sharp funny and clean guy he
24:50 worked part-time all through high school
24:52 and saved up upwards $20,000 he moved
24:54 into my city and I got him a place to
24:55 live with my other friend who rented a
24:57 home and a house I showed him Wow when
24:58 he came he was instantly hooked he was
25:00 supposed to find work but 3 to 4 months
25:02 in and he was still just playing wow
25:04 smoking pot and drinking eventually I
25:05 started noticing big shifts in him he
25:07 stopped answering calls my other friend
25:08 uh would say he wouldn't see him during
25:10 the day and just hear him up all night
25:12 weeks passed and I'd see him online but
25:13 he barely even respond to me there I
25:15 kept asking to hang out and he'd ignor
25:17 me which really weirded me out I finally
25:18 went to the house to confront him and
25:21 see what was going on and I was shocked
25:23 his room was literally piled with
25:25 garbage both bagged and strown his desk
25:27 and bed were covered with black garbage
25:29 bags and beer cans But the saddest part
25:31 was a little Nest he made for himself on
25:32 the hardwood floor where he had moved
25:34 his computer and would lay play and
25:37 sleep only leaving to smoke and bio
25:39 meaning [ __ ] and piss he pissed and [ __ ]
25:41 I talked to him he was out of money I
25:42 racked up his credit card completely and
25:44 was behind on rent paying my friend
25:46 there was nothing I could do I called
25:48 his mom they drove 14 hours and came and
25:49 picked him up cleaned out his room and
25:51 took him back home he rehabilitated but
25:52 was never the same he was never happy
25:54 again and struggle with addiction like I
25:57 like I never knew prior he's doing a lot
25:58 better now he moved out to a Farm it
26:00 lives with minimal Tech and helps
26:02 ranchers in the area for work but I
26:04 always remember that very dark time
26:05 Jesus Christ this guy started playing
26:08 War Warcraft it got so severe that he
26:12 had to adopt an Amish lifestyle to get
26:13 here's the thing too with a lot of Wild
26:15 players I've seen this I had a buddy who
26:17 lived basically in his grandma's
26:18 basement and just perpetually played
26:19 games all day like World of Warcraft and
26:21 all that stuff too the thing that stuck
26:23 out to me in this is when he said the
26:24 guy I just stopped talking to him I had
26:26 a bu who did that too and I don't know
26:27 why just one of those things I think you
26:29 just get lost in theong B another uh
26:31 ruin my life post here was my friends
26:34 family and co-workers all played wow in
26:35 2005 my brother started dating a girl
26:37 from work and a year later they were
26:38 married we got her sucked into the game
26:40 too they were reasonably happy until
26:41 several years later he got a job working
26:43 on the road it paid really well and they
26:44 needed the money because they got a
26:46 little over their heads with the with
26:48 the mortgage as the majority of people
26:50 do she stayed home with the kids playing
26:52 well all day while he was on the road
26:53 she transferred servers with her
26:55 progression Gil she spamed battl net
26:56 looking for people to pick up groups
26:58 some empty raid slots but when any of of
27:00 her IRL friends and her family offered
27:01 she'd bul and go about what a dick The
27:03 Guild leader was and how he'd suck the
27:05 fun out of it for us we wondered what
27:06 the she saw in this Guild that she
27:08 couldn't get any other progression Guild
27:10 we thought she just didn't like us
27:11 anymore that is until she packed her
27:12 [ __ ] and moved to the other side of the
27:15 country to live with hering Guild leader
27:16 she met on the internet who lived at
27:18 home with his parents who didn't have a
27:20 job she told him my brother was a
27:22 violent abusive Thug that hit her in the
27:25 kids God damn which isn't true at all I
27:26 got had to paraphrase that which that
27:29 did not happen Liar Liar Liar Liar Liar
27:30 parents on fire she'd been trying to
27:31 hide her online Affair from her friends
27:33 and family by convincing us raiding with
27:35 her Guild would suck they were divorced
27:36 a few months later while destroyed their
27:39 marriage and luckily as always we get an
27:41 end on a very peachy upbeat story gamer
27:44 couple locks children room to game
27:46 more a husband and wife were sent to
27:47 prison for neglecting their two young
27:50 daughters ages five and six they were
27:51 found with horribly damaged teeth
27:54 covered in dirt and visibly
27:56 malnourished great parents Lester and
27:58 Petra huffmire both 41 years old are
28:01 both Gamers absolutely obsessed with
28:02 world Warcraft while Community we're
28:04 looking at you right now they lived
28:05 inside their mobile home and were
28:07 unemployed spending every waking hour
28:09 playing the game in order to focus on
28:11 playing the game the couple had locked
28:12 their daughters inside the room for
28:15 years in order to play uninterrupted
28:16 when their living conditions were
28:17 investigated it was discovered that the
28:20 home was covered in mold and cobwebs
28:23 stacks of trash debris and even feces
28:25 strangely enough police also discovered
28:28 a pile of used condoms under a stuffed teddy
28:29 teddy
28:31 bear they were charged of child abuse
28:32 false imprisonment and contributing to
28:34 delinquency of a minor Lester was
28:35 sentenced to 5 years and Petra was
28:37 sentenced to 3 years and four months God
28:39 Dam what is that even a wow Community
28:41 thing that's just a [ __ ] monster you
28:43 know World of Warcraft is people love it
28:44 we've seen some things here there's
28:46 there was so much [ __ ] that we found
28:47 online that maybe we'll make another
28:49 video someday and there like the video
28:51 is not about blizzard it's just about
28:53 World of Warcraft I mean blizzard itself
28:55 has its own beautiful can of worms that
28:57 we could dive into as well someday it
28:58 was something that we looked into just
29:00 some of the horror stories of I guess
29:03 just the kind of crazy people that play
29:05 these games and also once again it's
29:07 with everything it's not just World of
29:08 Warcraft I'm not just saying that World
29:11 of Warcraft fans are gross little
29:12 gremlins I'm saying everybody's gross
29:15 little gremlins every subsect every
29:17 internet Community every gamer Community
29:19 has their own little hodg podge of
29:21 Misfits right it's just fun to look in
29:23 on it sometimes World of Warcraft I
29:25 cannot believe how popular it still is
29:28 today and if we find some more funny
29:30 stuff which there was I mean so much so
29:32 much stuff maybe we'll make another one
29:34 and keep going over it cuz this was uh
29:36 this was a nice little eye eye opener so
