0:04 it might not always seem like it but
0:06 Konami actually takes pretty good care
0:09 of paying attention to what cards people
0:11 are actually entering and winning and
0:14 topping tournaments with I mentioned
0:15 this because if you've ever played in a
0:17 regional flight and won that regional
0:19 flight you might know that you can't
0:21 actually get your decklist back that
0:24 decklist as well as other topping lists
0:26 from y CS and regionals gets sent off to
0:28 Konami for them to research and that's
0:30 sort of some of the ways that they
0:32 actually address the current format and
0:35 make new bandless and products and for
0:37 the most part Konami doesn't share
0:39 whatever information they have with the
0:41 general public this means if you want to
0:43 know a topping or winning deck list you
0:45 can't just go on the official Konami
0:48 site if you paid attention to you yo way
0:50 back in the day when meta game comm was
0:52 where all the Yuya articles were posted
0:53 you might remember that they actually
0:56 did post the topping deck list but that
0:59 changed when Konami took over and I
1:01 think in general it's for the better if
1:03 you or someone that topped an event
1:04 maybe you thought your deck was super
1:05 special and you don't want to share it
1:06 with the world
1:08 now you don't have to worry about Konami
1:10 sharing it with everyone without your
1:13 permission in general though nowadays if
1:14 you want to learn someone's deck list
1:17 you don't go to the official Konami site
1:19 you have to go to a third party website
1:21 like YouTube or Facebook or TCG player
1:24 Konami has decided to share with us the
1:26 top ten most side deck cards out of the
1:29 top thirty two of ycs Knoxville and this
1:31 is pretty unprecedented and pretty darn
1:34 cool sure you can find some of this by
1:36 looking at the posted deck list but a
1:38 lot of the players that topped Knoxville
1:40 seem to be withholding information and
1:42 that's no surprise because the wcq is
1:45 coming up and usually the last ycs for
1:47 the wcq you find a lot of people
1:49 withholding their side decks withholding
1:50 their main decks
1:52 so while Konami isn't saying exactly how
1:54 many copies of these cards were played
1:56 we at least can look at this and know
1:58 yeah okay some of these cards are rising
2:01 or falling in popularity I want to make
2:03 two final notes before we break into the
2:05 lists the first thing is that you really
2:07 do have to keep in mind what the actual
2:10 top 32 deck breakdown looked like which
2:12 is something that they have posted you
2:13 got to keep in mind that there were 10
2:16 Marcus stacks nine danger thundered x8
2:18 Salomon great decks and five sky
2:20 strikers there were no rogue decks that
2:22 topped this event and also keep in mind
2:24 if a card is being played in both orcas
2:27 and danger thunder is a lot more likely
2:28 to end up on this list because they took
2:31 up a lot of the top 32 the other thing
2:33 to keep in mind is that this is only
2:35 counting this side deck even if a card
2:37 is commonly played in the side deck or
2:40 the main deck it's not counting any of
2:41 the copies that were main decks and
2:43 that's a pretty big deal with a few of
2:45 these entries and of course if you'd
2:46 like to purchase any of the cards that I
2:48 talked about in today's video because
2:49 you're trying to get a leg up on the
2:52 competition for the wcq make sure to
2:54 check out TCG player com there is a link
2:55 in the description they are kindly
2:57 sponsoring today's video talking about
3:00 these top 10 most side deck cards this
3:01 is really cool because you know these
3:03 cards are successful we have proof that
3:05 they currently are being used it's the
3:07 perfect time to pick them up if you
3:08 don't have all these cards and there's
3:10 no better place than TCG players at
3:13 number 10 we have denko ceqa which to
3:15 some players like myself when i first
3:17 read that said oh that actually makes a
3:18 lot of sense there were a lot of danger
3:20 thunder dragon but looking at the list
3:22 that we have available we have around
3:25 half of the thunder dragon list publicly
3:26 available to people that want to see on
3:29 tcp player looking at them only one of
3:31 the ones that's actually out there
3:33 played den Kousaka and sure they played
3:35 three copies of it
3:36 but I think if anything this is showing
3:38 me that there's a lot of different
3:40 variety and what people are actually
3:42 playing in their side decks for a card
3:44 like dung Kousaka to be on this list if
3:46 it's not very popular just with the list
3:48 that we have available that implies that
3:50 the other cards especially the ones on
3:52 the bottom of this list maybe weren't as
3:54 popular as a lot of people think they
3:56 were without looking up any of the
3:58 decklist that are available you might
3:59 have guessed that then Kousaka was a
4:02 staple 3 of an every single Thunder list
4:04 and that would imply that like a whole
4:05 bunch of people were playing a lot of
4:08 these cards however if you go through
4:09 the side decks that are available you'll
4:11 notice that a lot of people are playing
4:14 a lot of different tech options that yes
4:16 do similar things but not quite the same
4:18 and I really want you to keep that in
4:20 mind when we talk about the number 9
4:22 entry which is mystic mine now looking
4:24 at the denko's second entry we can see
4:26 that mystic mine wasn't nearly as
4:27 popular as a
4:29 I seem on the initial read-through of
4:32 this top 10 list however it does mean
4:34 that more players than just the sky
4:36 sticker players are actually side
4:38 decking this card most the sky stagger
4:40 players were main decking one or two
4:42 copies of mystic mine and there is side
4:44 decking one or two copies to make a
4:46 total of three copies between their main
4:48 and side deck but the very fact that
4:50 mystic mine is on this top 10 list and
4:52 also we do have some of the Orcas lists
4:54 available you can see that a lot of
4:56 Orcas players were trying out mystic
4:58 mine either in the main or side deck
5:00 it's an incredibly powerful card against
5:02 the dangerous thunder dragon list when
5:03 you go second and they already are
5:05 playing cards like terraforming and cell
5:07 rotation just seems like a natural fit
5:10 to sort of blank out the entire Thunder
5:12 board do their full combo and then you
5:14 can use the Galatea to play your own
5:16 field spell over the mystic mind to
5:18 break it the big takeaway here is that
5:21 if you play against orcas at the wcq
5:23 keep in mind that they very likely are
5:25 going to have at least one copy of
5:27 mystic mind between their main or side
5:29 deck and they have a lot of ways to
5:31 access it so if you go first against
5:33 them be prepared to get mystic mind
5:35 don't decide out all of your back
5:37 removal because a lot of their cards are
5:39 monster effects you want to make sure
5:40 you have some sort of out to a
5:42 degenerate field spell because yeah
5:44 mystic mine is annoying when it's played
5:46 in a pure deck and it's really strong
5:47 when it's played in the sky strikers but
5:50 it's especially crazy played in a combo
5:52 deck because now you can't hand trap any
5:54 of the Orcas combo cards the next three
5:56 cards actually were a three-way tie so
5:59 eight seven and six were all cited the
6:03 exact same amount first off we have draw
6:04 land lock word which was pretty insane
6:06 for me to read and when I went back at
6:08 the decklist I saw that it actually was
6:10 cited quite a bit recently drone lock
6:12 bird has sort of fallen out of favor it
6:14 wasn't getting cited nearly as much as
6:16 it was like six months ago but it looks
6:18 like it's back in full force if people
6:20 are really playing it this much at least
6:23 in the top thirty-two of ycs Knoxville
6:24 it's not super surprising when you think
6:26 about it because this card against the
6:27 danger thunder dragon deck which is
6:29 probably the second best deck of the
6:31 format is basically an extra copy of
6:33 artifact lancia sure they can still
6:35 banish cards but by turning off their
6:37 search effects you really lose a lot of
6:39 the utility of the danger thunder dragon
6:40 deck for
6:42 example you no longer you can search off
6:44 eBay be cast dragons you don't get the
6:45 drawers off the danger monsters and you
6:47 also can't do your big guard dragon
6:50 combo by summoning bro tar in searching
6:52 in the chaos leve in year while Drona
6:54 lock bird isn't nearly as impactful as
6:56 artifact Lancia it still is a really
6:58 really good choice because you're not
7:00 always gonna draw those Lancias against
7:02 orcas maybe not as good but does have
7:04 some utility against both Salman grades
7:07 and sky strikers the other big Dex of
7:09 the format the next card that was tied
7:11 was electric virus and this isn't super
7:13 surprising if you've been looking at the
7:15 danger thunder dragon list out there
7:16 right now because this is pretty much a
7:19 staple side deck card as a three of and
7:21 a lot of those lists maybe not as much
7:23 of a staple as some of the other cards
7:24 when we get to the higher points of this
7:26 list but in general it is still very
7:29 very popular and for a good reason the
7:30 thing that you do Electric virus that
7:31 you let your opponent's set up their
7:33 entire board and then they summon a hot
7:35 red dragon archfiend you can steal it
7:37 with the Electric virus and now I don't
7:39 really have a lot of ways to deal with
7:40 your cards because you can use the hot
7:42 red dragon archfiend to bait these
7:44 zombie Stein and then their only real
7:45 form of interruption if they did the
7:47 full combo is the hieratic link monster
7:49 which isn't that much against a mere
7:50 match because you can do so many plays
7:53 with the danger thunder monsters some
7:55 players already knew the electra virus
7:56 was popular and they started not playing
7:58 hot red and instead played crystal wing
8:00 which is a pretty decent counter to
8:01 electric fire it's because you can just
8:03 think get its effect in that way
8:06 electric fire is still baits a negation
8:07 but it's not quite as good as stealing
8:09 the hot red being able to use the effect
8:11 than also using it for link material and
8:13 then the last card of the three-way tie
8:16 was fantastical dragon phantasm a and
8:17 this is where I want to make a note that
8:19 this is only looking at side decks and
8:22 that's very very important because this
8:23 was probably one of if not the most
8:26 played cards in the entire top 32 if we
8:29 look at main and side decks but the fact
8:31 that matter is a lot of people were
8:33 already meaning this card in danger
8:35 thunder in salem and great so it's not
8:37 going to be as high on the list as you
8:39 might expect it to be sure a lot of
8:41 people are still side decking and it's
8:43 still a very good card in the side deck
8:45 and you can't play it in every deck most
8:46 of the Orcas decks weren't playing this
8:48 card and all the sky tiger decks weren't
8:50 playing this card but it's still very
8:52 popular especially when you look at the
8:53 main deck so might
8:55 and it's still a very powerful card it
8:57 just means that not everyone out there
8:59 is making this card quite yeah a lot of
9:01 the danger Thunder decks are still just
9:03 not meaning any hand traps and just
9:04 going full combo although admittedly
9:06 when you look at the list breakdown some
9:08 people still our main decking that
9:10 fantastical dragon phantasm II in those
9:12 danger Thunder lists even though they're
9:13 not drying in the hand traps they are
9:15 fixing their hand and getting a ton of
9:18 value off of that draw effect next up
9:20 and we're no longer talking about tied
9:22 monsters we're at the number 5 spot and
9:24 that is ghost ogre and snow rabbit very
9:26 similar to drill operator this is a card
9:28 that sort of went out of the meta for a
9:30 long time a couple months now and
9:32 suddenly it's back in the game the
9:33 biggest reason this card happens to be
9:35 very good against both sky strikers and
9:37 danger thunder the reason was get again
9:39 sky strikers it's pretty obvious you hit
9:41 the multi roll and that stops a lot of
9:42 their recycling plays especially now
9:44 that they're down just one Kagari
9:46 against the guard dragons you can use
9:47 this card because all them require you
9:50 to have something pointing to a specific
9:52 spot to resolve their effects by using
9:54 ghosts uglier they can't resolve because
9:55 they don't point anywhere anymore and
9:57 that's a pretty big deal it definitely
9:59 shuts down a huge aspect of their
10:01 opening combos once again when you're
10:03 planning insects like orcas and danger
10:05 thunder there is a really amount of hand
10:07 traps that's too much you want to have
10:09 as many cards as possible to stop them
10:11 from playing the game because if those
10:13 two decks get to play the game and get
10:15 to do their full combo you're down a lot
10:18 of cards and also they have a crazy big
10:20 board by using more cards like ghost
10:22 ogre and draw mock bird in addition to
10:24 artifact lancia you can definitely help
10:26 prevent yourself from having to play
10:27 through one of the most devastating
10:29 boards in the game at the third and
10:31 fourth spot we have a two-way tie and
10:33 the first card is no material I've
10:35 talked about this card a lot in the past
10:37 I actually think it's a huge sleeper
10:39 pick and clearly people are picking it
10:42 up for ycs Knoxville in the wcq it makes
10:43 sense especially if you're not playing
10:45 phantasm a witch money of the Orcas
10:47 decks weren't this card just completely
10:50 stops the entire Orchestra if it
10:52 resolves the reason is is that when you
10:54 do the Orcas combo you have to summon a
10:56 link to nightmare monster and both of
10:58 them in the game right now don't have
11:00 downward pointing arrows Phoenix and
11:02 Cerberus only point up and then either
11:03 to the left or right which means if you
11:05 use no material on them you're probably
11:06 just can't summon me
11:08 tonight for the rest of the turn but no
11:10 material is also good against Salman
11:12 greats in danger thunder maybe not to
11:14 the extent as orcas but as I've
11:16 mentioned it in past videos it's pretty
11:18 solid just slowing your opponent down
11:20 right now no matter what deck you're
11:21 playing you don't want your opponent to
11:23 combo off obviously with decks like
11:25 danger thunders and orcas it's a little
11:28 scarier if they actually full combo but
11:29 even against things like salmon grates
11:31 it's good to just blank their turn and
11:33 make them make awkward or uncomfortable
11:36 plays no material is a card that can do
11:37 that and that means a lot of people were
11:39 trying to play it in their side decks at
11:42 Knoxville and likely at the wcq tide
11:44 would no material we have Dino wrestler
11:46 panca tops which is an incredibly
11:48 versatile side deck card that can deal
11:49 with pretty much any rogue strategy in
11:52 the format it certainly has applications
11:54 against all four of the top decks maybe
11:56 not the best card against any of those
11:57 decks it's really good against sky
11:58 strikers though especially for not
12:00 playing fantastical dragon themed
12:02 Tasmania but in general the sheer value
12:05 of prank' tops against those other rogue
12:08 decks of the format is not to be ignored
12:09 keep in mind that there aren't a lot of
12:11 formats out there like the one we're in
12:13 where you have four different top
12:14 strategies there's a lot of formats
12:16 where there's two different best decks
12:18 maybe three different best decks but
12:19 right now there's truly four different
12:21 decks that you can play that are all
12:23 considered meta and that means that you
12:25 have to have a lot of side and main deck
12:28 spots for those decks in that way when
12:29 you're building your side deck you
12:30 really want to have a card that's good
12:32 against pretty much every rogue deck you
12:34 can encounter just so you're not taking
12:36 an auto loss to those decks and those
12:39 rogue matchups is no better all-purpose
12:41 neutral card than the Dyna wrestler
12:42 because that can really deal with almost
12:44 any deck you're expected to play against
12:46 and while it is pretty good against the
12:48 top decks mainly I think the reason
12:50 people are playing that especially
12:52 outside of the seconds light decks I
12:53 can't play a lot of the other cards you
12:55 might think of against rogue strategies
12:57 you really want to have a card that can
12:58 just plow through the decks that aren't
13:00 the expected meta just to make sure you
13:02 don't have nothing against them
13:04 especially if your main decking tech
13:06 options against the meta lenses aren't
13:08 good against those rogue decks you need
13:10 to take them out for something what else
13:12 take them out for then a card that has
13:14 2600 attack is a free special summon and
13:16 can also blow up a car died either
13:17 players turn and then you have the
13:19 number 2 spot that I'm pretty sure if
13:20 you looked at the main
13:23 and side decks would be almost tied with
13:25 the number one spot however almost all
13:26 the salmon great players were main
13:28 decking this card and that's twin
13:30 twisters what's interesting is that
13:31 despite the fact that eight of the top
13:33 thirty-two we're making this card and
13:35 most of the salmon great players were at
13:36 least least ones that we have knowledge
13:39 of right now this card still is number
13:40 two on the list and it's number two
13:42 because it's being played in almost
13:43 every deck out there right now
13:45 especially if we're looking at just the
13:47 top four strategies things like sky
13:49 strikers want to play this card against
13:51 the mere match and against orcas take
13:53 out those fog blades in orcas and
13:54 thunder dragons won't play this card to
13:56 not lose to floodgates index like sky
13:58 strikers Salomon greats are usually main
14:00 backing this card so they're probably
14:02 not contributing too much to these cards
14:04 placement on this top 10 list but still
14:06 twin twisters is everywhere and this
14:08 list proves it so if you're playing a
14:10 rogue back row deck like altar guys or
14:12 guru control you really have to be
14:14 prepared to play against twin twister
14:17 and Dan Kousaka a lot of rounds and that
14:19 brings us to the number one spot and if
14:21 he lists that we have available or
14:23 anywhere to look I think that it's safe
14:25 to say that almost every single person
14:28 if not every single person with side
14:30 decking three copies of his card so it's
14:32 no surprise that it's at the number one
14:35 spot on Konami's lists artifact lancia
14:38 is the only good counter to dangerous
14:40 under and orcas that works every single
14:43 time in every single scenario it's
14:45 especially funny against orcas because
14:46 it can stop your opponent from using
14:48 call by the grave on your other hand
14:50 traps but overall it's just the one of
14:52 card or the three of card I should say
14:54 but the one specific card that you can
14:56 draw against those two top decks which
14:58 are the most popular decks right now I
15:01 just completely stops their entire turn
15:03 it just forces them to pass pretty much
15:05 in a lot of cases may be endangered
15:07 thunders sometimes you can play through
15:09 lancia and get a few negations out there
15:12 but as far as the orcas that goes almost
15:14 all of their combos revolve around
15:16 banishing multiple cards so artifact
15:18 lancia just stops their turn entirely I
15:20 don't think this choice will surprise to
15:22 anyone but what it means in case you
15:24 didn't know is that if you're playing a
15:26 rogue strategy that requires you to
15:28 banish cards and friends come to mind
15:30 now I'm sure there's all this stuff as
15:32 well if you're playing a deck like that
15:34 it's a really really bad
15:36 time for you to be playing it's a huge
15:38 uphill battle because every single
15:40 person in an event pretty much are going
15:42 to be playing artifact Lancia in this
15:44 side deck it is I've never really seen a
15:46 situation where there's been this much
15:48 of a staple side deck card I mean twin
15:50 twisters gets up there and we've seen
15:52 other cards come close but it's really
15:54 crazy to think that every single deck is
15:56 playing artifact Lancer right now no
15:57 matter what duck you're playing you just
15:59 don't want to lose to danger thunder or
16:02 orcas and this is the best card to stop
16:04 their big combos anyway though that's
16:06 gonna wrap up today's video I'm sorry
16:07 it's a little bit longer than my usual
16:09 videos but I just really felt like I had
16:11 a lot to say about all ten of these
16:13 entries I don't know if Konami will do
16:15 this going forward but it was really
16:17 helpful and I think it's a really cool
16:19 way to drive more traffic to the Konami
16:22 articles right now is not a lot to read
16:24 out there they post sporadically they
16:26 don't really do consistent uploads for
16:28 those articles and while I do think some
16:30 of their uploads are important this
16:31 really is like a really unique
16:33 perspective that you can't get anywhere
16:36 else the strategy articles are cool and
16:37 all by actually giving us information
16:40 that you can't find as a public just
16:42 regular player is really awesome and I
16:44 hope going forward they do more of it
16:45 because I think people really
16:47 appreciated their insight anyway though
16:49 I'll see you guys later thing is so much
