1:31 she packed up called a taxi and left
1:33 now the man had to stay for his meetings
1:36 but every spare moment he had he read
1:39 that new testament when he went home he
1:41 took the New Testament with him as soon
1:43 as he got home he ran to find the pastor
1:45 of a nearby Christian church and asked
1:48 can you tell me about the man named
1:49 Jesus that I've been reading about in this
1:51 this
1:54 book today this man and his family are
1:58 Christians and he's also a Gideon The

3:37 they could find and prepared for the afternoon

3:41 distribution when the last distribution
3:44 was over and they were on their way home
3:47 they stopped at a store on the edge of
3:51 town sitting on the doorstep was a young
3:53 man he was
3:56 crying as they approached the young man
3:59 he looked up and asked can you tell me
4:01 about this man I've been reading
4:03 about this man
4:08 Jesus in his hand was a single page torn
4:11 from a Gideon New
4:13 Testament a couple of Gideon stayed with
4:15 the young man the others went inside
4:16 where they found an older man he was also
4:17 also
4:21 crying that's my son out there he
4:25 said I've never seen him cry before
4:26 you've got to tell me about this man named
4:28 named
4:31 Jesus and that day both Father and Son
4:34 received Christ as their
4:37 savior we all agree on how important it
4:39 is for people to have the word of God
4:41 it's such a simple idea giving a new
4:43 testament to someone or putting a Bible
4:46 in a hotel room yet it is an incredibly
4:49 effective way to share the love of God
4:52 like the night Elliot owit planned to kill
4:53 kill
4:56 himself it was Christmas Eve and his
4:57 wife had just locked him out of the
5:00 house but who could blame her
5:02 he had not been a good father or husband
5:04 for years he had traveled the world
5:06 pursued his own success and indulged in
5:08 all kinds of immoral activities he was
5:10 away from home even as his wife
5:11 struggled to raise two of their
5:13 grandchildren and cope with breast
5:16 cancer at the same time so there was
5:20 Elliot in a hotel room on Christmas Eve
5:22 with a
5:24 gun but on the
5:27 TV was an open Gideon
5:31 Bible now this irritated Elliot he
5:32 knocked it onto the floor he tried to
5:34 kick it under the bed but it wouldn't go
5:36 the bed frame was solid right down to the
5:37 the
5:39 floor and the
5:43 Bible was still
5:48 open as Elliot picked it up he read John
5:53 14:27 peace I leave with you my peace I
5:56 give unto you not as the world giveth
5:59 give I unto you let not your heart be
6:07 Afraid Elliot spent three days in that
6:09 hotel room reading the
6:12 Bible on Sunday he attended church with
6:15 his wife and gave his life to
6:25 story Elliot owit was called by God into
6:27 Ministry and is now a pastor in North Carolina
6:34 millions of people have never heard the
6:37 good news many will never be able to own
6:38 a personal copy of the scriptures unless
6:41 one is given to them consider the story
6:43 of a prisoner in
6:45 bellarus he received a Gideon New
6:47 Testament and valued it so much that he
6:49 copied a chapter to send with every
6:52 letter he mailed to his wife and this
6:53 continued until at last his wife had a
6:56 complete handwritten copy of her
6:59 own both of them came to trust Jesus

7:03 church you see it's so easy for us to
7:05 obtain Bibles that it's hard to
7:07 understand how precious a copy of God's
7:10 word is to so many around the world in
7:12 some countries such as Thailand the
7:15 children bow their heads and extend both
7:18 hands as they accept their
7:21 copies in other countries Gideon New
7:22 Testaments may be the only books
7:25 children in school have to
7:28 study that was the case in Ghana where a
7:29 group of Gideons distributed more more
7:31 than 300,000 scriptures many to school
7:33 children in just two
7:36 weeks after one of the distributions A
7:38 teacher told The Gideons they will read
7:40 and understand this Bible because I am
7:43 their reading teacher this will be our
7:46 textbook the New Testament will be the
7:49 first book they can call their own I
7:52 know God must have sent you today when

8:04 Ghana and we estimate that there are at
8:07 least 600,000 additional school children
