0:47 or be a bit more Restless than other
0:50 people you might move around more or
0:52 need more background noise to help
0:54 yourself focus on something the good
0:57 news about ADHD is that it's been
1:00 studied now for nearly a hundred years
1:03 and we know a lot about how it works and
1:05 we're learning more and more about ways
1:08 to help people with ADHD Thrive so
1:12 importantly by calling this ADHD giving
1:14 it a name we help other people
1:18 understand what's happening for you and
1:20 support you so that attention doesn't
1:22 become come a barrier in situations like
1:25 school or activities or even at home
1:29 so part of the treatment for ADHD is
1:31 helping the adults in your life support
1:34 you in the most effective and positive
1:36 way there are also strategies that you
1:38 can start to learn to help yourself with
1:40 tasks that are boring or really hard to
1:43 get motivated around strategies like
1:46 using timers and reminders creating
1:49 lists to prioritize things breaking down
1:51 big tasks into chunks so that they're
1:53 less overwhelming and you can get them
1:56 done more efficiently many kids and
1:59 teenagers and even adults with ADHD also
2:02 find medication to be helpful it can
2:04 make a really big difference in helping
2:06 your brain focus in on things and stay
2:08 interested in things that you would
2:10 otherwise find more boring so that might
2:12 be something to talk with your doctor
2:15 about whatever the case know that you're
2:17 in good company about 10 percent of
2:20 people probably a little bit more have
2:25 ADHD so it's super common and there are
2:27 a lot of strengths that come with ADHD
2:29 you may notice there's some really fun
2:31 aspects of your personality or there's
2:33 certain areas that you can hyper focus
2:36 on and be really creative and successful with
2:37 with
2:40 but unfortunately our school system and
2:43 our society in general was not set up
2:46 taking into account ADHD
2:49 school for example requires a lot of
2:52 sitting still focusing in on things so
2:54 we want to give you the most tools
2:56 possible to thrive in those settings
2:58 while also finding settings that are
3:00 personalized more to you where you can
