0:02 Without a doubt, Perplexity is one of
0:04 the most powerful AI tools out there,
0:05 especially if you're doing any type of
0:07 research. In this video, I'm going to
0:09 show you exactly how Perplexity works
0:11 and how I use it in my own workflows to
0:13 get some incredible results. But before
0:15 I do that, I'm going to show you how you
0:18 can get an entire year of Perplexity Pro
0:20 absolutely for free. Okay, so if you
0:22 head on over to perplexity.ai,
0:24 you can of course sign up for a
0:26 Perplexity account and start using it
0:28 completely for free. But they do have a
0:31 pro plan that costs $20 a month.
0:33 However, they have this incredible deal
0:35 right now that will give you an entire
0:38 year of pro for free. And it's really
0:40 easy to do. So, there's two ways to
0:42 actually do this. For the first method,
0:44 you need a PayPal account. And for the
0:46 second one, if you don't have a PayPal
0:48 account, you can use a Venmo account.
0:49 All you have to do is click the
0:51 corresponding link in the description
0:54 down below. You'll then see the deal
0:55 right here. You can click on claim 12
0:58 months of Perplexity Pro. Go ahead and
0:59 get signed up and boom, you will have an
1:02 entire year of Perplexity Pro for free.
1:04 There are a few limits on this though.
1:05 So, first of all, if this does work for
1:07 you, the only thing that I ask in return
1:09 is that you let me know in the comment
1:11 section down below that it worked and
1:12 say thank you. Leaving a comment like
1:15 that really helps out my video. Then you
1:17 may want to consider watching the rest
1:18 of this video where I'm going to explain
1:20 to you how to use Perplexi and get it
1:23 set up and how I'm using it in my own
1:25 workflows. Now, if this doesn't work for
1:28 you, if for instance, you see an error
1:29 on the screen right here and this is
1:32 grayed out, it's probably because you
1:35 already have a pro subscription or you
1:38 had a pro subscription in the past. So,
1:40 this will only work for new accounts
1:43 that have never had a pro subscription.
1:45 So, as long as the account is new,
1:47 you're going to be fine. This is also
1:50 only available until December 31st at
1:53 midnight. So, make sure you get on this
1:55 quickly. It may also only be available
1:56 in the United States or certain
1:58 jurisdictions. I'm not sure about that.
2:00 So, don't come at me if it doesn't work
2:01 for you in another country. But
2:03 otherwise, I've already helped several
2:05 people set this up. They've all gotten
2:07 an entire year for free, so it should
2:10 work for a lot of you. And now that you
2:12 have a Perplexity Pro account set up,
2:14 let's dive into how to actually get the
2:16 most out of this incredibly powerful AI
2:18 tool. Okay, so at this point I'm going
2:20 to assume you already have a
2:22 PerplexityAI account. If you don't, just
2:25 come on over to Perplexity.ai.
2:26 All you have to do is put in your email
2:28 and you'll have access to a brand new
2:30 account. Now, the first thing I suggest
2:32 that you do is come into the settings.
2:34 So, down here on the left, click on this
2:36 down icon and then go ahead and click on
2:38 preferences. Now, you'll notice that a
2:40 lot of these preferences or a lot of
2:42 these settings don't actually do
2:44 anything or they're not that important.
2:45 I'm just going to show you the important
2:47 stuff. So first of all, underneath
2:49 artificial intelligence, you'll see
2:52 image generation model. So yes,
2:54 Perplexity does create images. You can
2:57 choose which model it uses. Two of the
2:59 best models are Nano Banana and GPT
3:02 image 1. However, I already have access
3:05 to those through Gemini and Chat GPT. So
3:06 I want to try something different. So
3:09 I'm putting on Cdream 4.5. But you can
3:10 definitely play around with this. See
3:12 which image generation model you like
3:14 the best and go ahead and leave it on
3:16 that one. Next, you have the option of
3:19 turning off AI data retention. So,
3:21 basically, if this is on, then anything
3:23 that you put into Perplexity, they will
3:25 then use to help train their models. If
3:26 you don't like that or don't feel
3:28 comfortable with that, go ahead and
3:30 toggle that off. And then finally, under
3:32 preferences, we have the sidebar
3:34 customization. So, you'll notice that
3:35 when you're chatting with Perplexity, we
3:38 have this sidebar over here on the left.
3:40 So, this is where you can customize it.
3:41 And personally, the only one that I
3:43 leave on is spaces. I find the other
3:46 ones to just be distracting and cause a
3:47 lot of clutter, but you can certainly
3:49 turn on the ones that you want. The the
3:52 discover tab is very very popular. A lot
3:54 of people really like that. So, you can
3:55 play around with that and see if you
3:57 like it. But personally, all I leave on
3:59 is spaces. Next, we'll click on the left
4:01 here where it says personalization. So,
4:03 here at the top, you can give Perplexity
4:05 some information about who you are that
4:07 it will always know anytime it is
4:09 chatting with you. So, for instance, I
4:11 could say I create videos on YouTube
4:13 about AI. Now, personally, I don't
4:15 actually put anything in here. And the
4:17 reason being is because Perplexity
4:20 already has memory engaged down here.
4:22 You can see I turned on both reference
4:24 search library and reference saved
4:27 memories. This will allow Perplexity to
4:29 look at past chats to be able to
4:31 understand better who I am. And in
4:33 addition to that, create memories or
4:35 that's basically information that it
4:36 knows about me that it'll then be able
4:39 to reference in future chats as well.
4:40 that will enable it to give much more
4:43 personalized responses. And so I don't
4:46 really feel the strong urge to have any
4:48 sort of additional information in here,
4:50 but of course that's completely up to
4:52 you. You could also update your location
4:54 or you can turn off location sharing
4:55 like I've done. And the last thing that
4:57 I suggest is you click on the left here
4:58 where it says notifications and go ahead
5:00 and toggle these off. Otherwise, it
5:01 keeps sending you emails letting you
5:03 know that deep research has completed
5:05 and it just kind of gets annoying. And
5:06 in terms of settings, that's all you
5:07 have to do. So now we're going to click
5:10 on back. And now we are ready to start
5:12 using Perplexity. Now Perplexity may
5:15 look like a standard AI chatbot like
5:17 ChatGBT or Gemini, but it is built
5:20 entirely different. This is really an AI
5:22 search engine. So when we type in here a
5:25 question, you'll notice two things.
5:27 First of all, it is lightning fast.
5:30 Second of all, it always gives you
5:34 responses that include citations. So
5:35 when I asked it, "What's the tallest
5:36 building in the world?" It gives me a
5:38 response and right next to it I can
5:40 actually see just by hovering over it
5:42 the sources that it used for that
5:44 information. I can click through them
5:46 and even click on any of them to open it
5:49 up in a new tab to verify for myself
5:51 that this information is correct. And
5:52 you notice it doesn't just use one
5:55 source, it uses multiple sources. So I
5:57 have found that this actually is a lot
6:00 more accurate than a traditional AI
6:01 chatbot. In addition to that, you can
6:03 always click on the top here where it
6:05 says links. So, these are just like
6:06 almost like standard Google search
6:09 results right here as well as an images
6:11 tab just like you would have on Google
6:12 when you search for something and you go
6:14 over to images. Now, before you start
6:16 searching though, let's make sure that
6:18 you actually have everything the way
6:19 that you want because you'll notice
6:20 there are a lot of buttons down here.
6:22 So, let me explain what all of these
6:24 mean. So, the first one right here is
6:25 just called search. And this will give
6:28 you those fast answers to everyday
6:30 questions. And I would say about 80% of
6:33 the time I just leave it on this because
6:35 it's going to get me my answers quickly
6:37 and we get all those citations. It's
6:39 super accurate even though it's quick.
6:41 If you go with the second option, this
6:43 one is called research. This is
6:44 basically deep research if you've used
6:47 that on other platforms. And what this
6:49 will do is do the same type of research
6:51 that faster or the regular search will
6:53 do, but will be a little bit longer and
6:56 will be a lot more indepth. But again,
6:58 daytoday, I find that the regular search
7:01 is super accurate all on its own, which
7:02 is why 80% of the time, again, I'm
7:04 leaving it on the regular search. The
7:07 last one here is called labs, and this
7:09 you can use to actually generate
7:12 documents, reports, even little apps.
7:14 So, it kind of takes your research up a
7:16 level. I'm going to switch back over to
7:17 search, and then we'll look at the
7:19 settings over here. So, the next one is
7:22 one of my favorite buttons on Perplexity
7:23 because if you click this, you can
7:26 actually choose what Perplexity searches
7:28 when it's looking for your answer. So,
7:30 by default, web is always on, but you
7:33 can also toggle on social, which will
7:35 search things like Reddit or Twitter.
7:37 You can toggle on finance, which will
7:40 search things like SEC filings, and you
7:41 can even connect your Gmail and Google
7:43 Drive, as well as a bunch of other
7:45 sources that it can then search through
7:47 when looking for your answers. Now, the
7:49 reason I love this so much is because I
7:51 love toggling on social. A lot of times
7:53 I want to hear what people are saying
7:55 about certain subjects. Let's say I'm
7:57 looking for a review of something like a
7:59 new iPhone. I might search and hear what
8:01 are people thinking about or saying
8:03 about the new iPhone. And with social
8:04 on, it will actually be able to pull in
8:07 real time information from different
8:09 social media platforms to get a real
8:11 consensus on whether people like that
8:13 new phone or not. I just find it super
8:15 helpful to have this on in addition to
8:17 having web on. This next button allows
8:19 you to choose the model that's going to
8:22 be used for your query. Now, Perplexity
8:24 has their own model called Sonar, but
8:26 you also get access in here to a lot of
8:29 top models like OpenAI models, GPT 5.2
8:31 for instance, Cloud models, Gemini,
8:34 Grock, Kimmy K2. So, you can choose
8:36 whichever one that you want. Now,
8:39 personally, I just leave this on best.
8:41 And that's because I found that no
8:43 matter which model I choose, for the
8:45 type of prompting that I do and the type
8:47 of research that I do, I actually find
8:49 it doesn't make a huge difference which
8:51 model I select. That's not always going
8:53 to be the case, but for what I do, I do
8:55 find that to be the case. So, I leave it
8:57 on best, and that allows Perplexity to
9:00 choose which model is best based on the
9:01 question or the prompt I'm putting in
9:03 there. Also, know that if you choose,
9:07 let's say, GPT 5.2, 2. It's actually
9:09 going to not be the same as just using
9:13 GPT 5.2 directly inside of chat GBT.
9:15 It's different because it's inside of
9:17 Perplexi and I'll show you an example of
9:19 that later, but again, I leave this on
9:21 best. The next button here allows you to
9:24 attach different files or you can do
9:25 that through a connection like Google
9:28 Drive. The next one will allow you to
9:30 dictate into Proplexity so you don't
9:32 have to type it out. So, I can say
9:34 something like, "What's the best truck
9:38 to get if I want to get a truck camper?"
9:40 So, a lot easier than typing. And then
9:43 finally, this one right here is AI voice
9:44 mode. So, you can actually have a back
9:47 and forth conversation with Perplexity.
9:49 So, let me show you some examples of how
9:50 I use this and then I'll show you some
9:52 other things like spaces and we'll even
9:53 compare some of the results against
9:56 something like chat GBT. So, I'll show
9:57 you something I do every single day when
9:59 I come into perplexity. I leave it on
10:02 thinking, but underneath this one, I
10:04 turn on social. And then I'll say
10:06 something like, check Twitter for
10:08 important updates in the past 24 hours
10:10 related to Gemini, Notebook, LM, Chat,
10:13 GBT, or Google AI. Now, you'll notice,
10:15 of course, this goes really fast. And
10:16 you'll notice all the places it's
10:18 checking right here. If I want to see
10:20 that again, I can just click right here.
10:22 That will give me this dropown. I can
10:24 see it checked all these X accounts. It
10:26 checked some Google blogs. It checked
10:28 Reddit, bunch of other places as well,
10:30 including YouTube. Then here are the
10:33 actual results. So, it says there were
10:36 no major updates on Twitter in the past
10:38 24 hours, probably because it was
10:41 Christmas. However, here are some recent
10:43 highlights that were mentioned more that
10:45 came out recently, but weren't in the
10:47 past 24 hours. And it kind of breaks all
10:49 that down for me. Now, here it says that
10:51 Notebook LM now attaches directly inside
10:55 of Gemini Chats as a knowledge source.
10:56 So, if you wanted to ask a follow-up
10:57 question on that, all you have to do is
11:01 highlight it, click add to follow-up,
11:03 and I'll say something like, "What are
11:05 people on X saying about this? Do they
11:07 like it?" Go ahead and submit that. And
11:09 now it's actually searching for people's
11:11 opinions on X, and whether people have
11:14 reported liking this or not. And here it
11:16 says, "Users on Twitter express strong
11:18 enthusiasm for this new integration,
11:20 calling it a gamecher that eliminates
11:22 tab switching." So, you see, it's giving
11:24 me access to all this social
11:26 information, and it's giving me a
11:28 consensus on what people out there are
11:30 saying about any topic that I want to
11:32 learn about or want more information
11:34 about. Now, another way I love using
11:36 Perplexity is to help me do research for
11:38 anything that I'm looking to buy. So,
11:40 recently, I was looking at potentially
11:42 buying one of those um massaging eye
11:44 masks. It goes across your eyes, it
11:46 heats up, and it actually massages your
11:48 face. But, I was kind of wondering, do
11:49 they actually work? Do they actually do
11:51 anything? So, for this one, what I'm
11:52 going to do is I'm actually going to
11:56 turn on GPT 5.2. And I'm also going to
11:58 run the exact same search inside of Chat
12:00 GBT as well, so you can see the
12:02 difference between the two of them. So,
12:05 here you can see chat GBT gave us a
12:06 response. This is a good response, but
12:09 it's just a block of text. Inside of
12:12 Perplexity, we have pretty much very
12:15 similar information, but it's structured
12:17 much differently. We have titles here
12:18 for each paragraph and then an
12:22 explanation. So chat GBT is a lot more
12:24 conversational and perplexity even
12:27 though again the same model is really
12:30 more designed to provide you with
12:33 information in a very practical way. So
12:35 this is one of the reasons I really like
12:37 perplexity when I'm doing research is
12:39 because I just want an answer quickly. I
12:42 don't want to be having a conversation.
12:44 I don't want a friend for this. I just
12:47 want information and Perplexity is so
12:48 good at providing that. And then
12:51 finally, let's talk about spaces. So
12:52 over here on the left, you hover over
12:54 spaces, you'll see all the spaces that
12:57 you've already created or you can create
12:59 new ones or you can go ahead and use
13:01 these templates. But I suggest you
13:03 actually come in here and create your
13:05 own because they can be very powerful
13:07 and they prevent you from having to
13:09 repeat the same information over and
13:11 over and over again. So I'll create a
13:13 new space here. I'm going to call this
13:15 one Twitter
13:18 research. And here you can do a few
13:19 different things. So, first of all, I
13:21 suggest you click where it says add
13:23 instructions. And this will allow you to
13:26 give precise instructions on how you
13:28 want Perplexity or what you want
13:30 Perplexity to do anytime you chat with
13:32 it inside of this space. So, I can say
13:35 to it, always prioritize post from X
13:37 when I ask you questions. But, you can
13:39 be very detailed in your instructions
13:41 here and tell it whatever you want. So
13:42 go ahead and click on save there. You
13:44 can also click right here where it says
13:46 searching with custom instructions. And
13:47 then you can do other things like you
13:50 can upload files and add URLs as well
13:52 that can be used as a search. So if
13:53 you've ever used Notebook LM, it's sort
13:55 of similar to that, right? With Notebook
13:57 LM, you can go ahead and add links to
14:00 sources. You can upload files as sources
14:02 and then this space will pull from those
14:04 when it's answering your questions. So,
14:06 this is great if you're working on large
14:08 projects and have a lot of information
14:09 scattered in a lot of different
14:12 locations. You can bring it all into one
14:13 space. You can connect to Google Drive.
14:15 You can upload PDFs. You can include
14:17 links as long as they can access them
14:19 publicly. You can put in custom
14:21 instructions. And once you start
14:23 chatting with it, all your threads are
14:25 going to appear here as well. So, it's a
14:28 really great way to stay super organized
14:30 with your chats. Now, for myself, I
14:32 primarily use Perplexity for two
14:34 different things. First of all, like I
14:35 said before, it's basically a Google
14:37 replacement for me. If I need to search
14:38 for anything, I just come into
14:40 Perplexity and search for it. This is
14:42 particularly helpful when I'm on the go.
14:43 I can just pull out my phone and use the
14:46 app and get a very detailed response. In
14:48 addition to that, I always start all my
14:50 research for any of my content creation
14:53 in here. Once I get that information, I
14:55 then put it into Notebook LM or inside
14:58 of Gemini and I use that to actually do
15:00 my writing. I don't find that perplexity
15:02 is all that great when it comes to
15:04 writing, either creative writing or even
15:06 structured writing, like when I have it
15:07 help me with scripts. I just find that
15:10 Gemini is much better than that. But
15:12 Perplexi is really great for those
15:15 initial research stages. And pro tip, I
15:18 have one final thing I want to show you.
15:20 If you click on down here on your
15:21 settings and go ahead and click on
15:25 tasks, you can actually set up tasks
15:27 that happen every single day for you
15:29 automatically. So again, my daily
15:32 Twitter check or I have it uh search for
15:34 certain Twitter accounts and any updates
15:36 from them. I don't do that manually. I
15:38 actually set that up as a recurring
15:41 tasks task I should say. So every
15:42 morning when I wake up, I just pull out
15:45 my phone, see what the new news is, and
15:47 I'm ready to go and I'm caught up on the
15:49 day's news. So there you go. That's
15:51 probably 80% of what you need to know
15:53 about Perplexity in order to get the
15:55 most out of it. But I want to hear from
15:56 you now. So, let me know in the comments
15:58 section what you're planning on using
16:01 Perplexity for or if you already use it,
16:03 what you do use it for. Don't be shy. I
16:05 love hearing from you guys and I learn a
16:07 lot from you guys. So, please share with
16:09 me how you're using Perplexity because I
16:11 would genuinely love to hear about your
16:13 experiences. Otherwise, if you want to
16:15 hear about another AI tool that I
16:16 mentioned a couple times in this video,
16:19 it's one of my favorites, Notebook LM,
16:21 check out this video right here. Inside
16:23 of this one, I cover some of my favorite
16:25 Notebook LM features. So, you definitely
16:26 want to check this out. And I'll see you
