0:01 when you play the game of thrones you
0:04 subscribe and like or you
0:10 ground all right hello YouTube we are
0:11 going to be talking about Winds of
0:13 winner the likelihood of it getting
0:16 released maybe it won't get released why
0:18 that is and this is kind of a question
0:20 that I had from a patreon I kind of took
0:22 their question and made it something I
0:24 could actually apply to it I will say
0:26 guys if you do want to support me on
0:28 patreon or YouTube memberships and you
0:30 do try to request a video
0:32 make sure it's something that like I
0:34 might have some knowledge on like
0:37 actually in a song of w in fire you know
0:38 because it's harder for me to do things
0:41 if it's like influencing in song and
0:42 fire but I have no idea what that
0:45 influence is so yeah I just want to put
0:47 that out there but again I do want to
0:49 take a moment to thank all the people
0:50 that do support me on those other
0:52 platforms YouTube memberships patreons
0:54 I'll have those up on screen but let's
0:57 talk about Winds of Winter and why I
1:00 think it's been delayed for so long and
1:03 if we don't get it what those reasons
1:05 are going to be so I've talked a lot
1:07 about on this channel some of the
1:10 reasons as to why it won't get released
1:13 or it's taking so long to get released I
1:15 still hold out hope that it will but
1:17 let's kind of put everything that I've
1:19 done in the past and put it together so
1:22 let's think about just in the story our
1:25 characters think about all of the
1:26 different characters all the immense
1:28 amount of stuff that has to happen in
1:31 this next book to set up if George wants
1:34 to continue with it just being two books
1:37 left what those characters have to do I
1:40 think the two biggest offenders of this
1:43 are Danny and Bran Bran is a character
1:46 that we don't know where George is going
1:48 with the character he is the most
1:50 magical he is the hardest to write he is
1:52 a character that is going to have to a
1:56 learn how to be in blood Raven position
1:58 or basically controlling the knowledge
2:00 of the world he's a character that how
2:01 does he change as a character getting
2:03 all this knowledge how does he take that
2:05 knowledge apply it to the story in a
2:07 meaningful way that makes it feel like
2:10 his journey was worth reading because as
2:13 of right now out of the main povs I
2:15 think if you pulled the fan base bran
2:17 would be their least favorite I can tell
2:20 this by when I upload uh Game of Thrones
2:23 rereads brand videos always do the worst
2:26 I can tell this when I do YouTube polls
2:28 he's the worst or the least the one that
2:32 people like the least okay and so when I
2:34 think about the character of bran George
2:36 has to do so much to make this character
2:38 feel worth it and earned think about the
2:42 ending of season 8 season 8 had bran
2:44 being the king people hated that because
2:45 it wasn't developed to bran as a
2:48 character they didn't do enough to make
2:50 it feel earned enough for that to be the
2:52 outcome whether that was George's
2:55 original outcome or not and so bran
2:57 right off the bat is one of the biggest
2:59 factors because he's so difficult to
3:01 right he has a lot of information that
3:03 is going to be needed for the story to
3:05 work as a whole but if you think about
3:08 where bran is in the story he's the
3:10 furthest North and by the end of this
3:12 book we have to have a lot of our forces
3:16 coming together probably not even in the
3:20 north so bran has a lot to do in a very
3:22 short amount of time so then apply that
3:24 to Danny again I've made a video on both
3:26 of these characters relating to Winds of
3:29 winner but Danny Danny is being C
3:32 captured by the doth raki at this point
3:35 she has to either one escape the doth
3:37 raki doesn't seem as likely I think it's
3:39 she's going to basically take over the
3:41 doth raki as their
3:43 kisi so she's got to get them back to
3:46 Marine she's got to fix the Marine plot
3:49 with getting the dragons back to
3:51 basically under her control somewhat she
3:53 has to put in the next government while
3:55 she's gone she has to deal with the sons
3:57 of the harpies she has to deal with the
4:00 slavers and the uh Siege that's going on
4:02 right now she has to deal out with the
4:04 Fallout of all these new characters and
4:07 people coming to Marine like victarion
4:09 like Tyrion we need all of that to
4:13 happen while we also need her to begin
4:16 her journey to westos Andor get to
4:18 Dragon Stone by the end of the
4:22 book that is insanely difficult to do
4:23 and how do you achieve that right do you
4:27 achieve that by oh you have flashbacks
4:29 so you go forward in Danny chapters and
4:30 then you kind of flashback tell us what
4:33 kind of happened the last few days we
4:36 see this in Danny chapters before this
4:37 is not something that's unheard of in
4:40 book one this is something that Danny
4:42 does like recount right she recounts
4:44 events that happened prior because
4:45 George didn't want to tell them on
4:47 screen like we needed to progress the
4:49 story so then in that point we could
4:50 also then go back and tell that other
4:52 part of the story that's something that
4:54 George could do so right away you have
4:57 two main characters that have a lot of
4:59 work to do in the next book and it's
5:00 going to be very difficult to get them
5:03 from point A to point B but outside of
5:06 that we also have a ton of povs and I
5:08 don't think this is as big of an issue I
5:10 know other people think this is a big
5:11 issue for me it's not as a big of an
5:13 issue because when you think about all
5:15 these povs a lot of them maybe not a lot
5:16 of them but a good amount of them could
5:19 get killed off in this next book we
5:20 could also see a situation in which we
5:22 just start all getting all these povs
5:25 together and then you don't need to have
5:26 all these different plot lines right
5:28 because it's more like how do we
5:29 condense all of our plot lines into
5:32 maybe like 10 plot lines down to like
5:35 three or four like how do we go from A
5:37 Storm of Swords level plot lines or
5:40 Feast for Crows level uh in dance plot
5:42 lines down to like a Game of Thrones
5:43 plot lines where Game of Thrones plot
5:45 lines you kind of had a couple to start
5:48 the story right you only had like a
5:50 handful so that's what I'm talking about
5:51 like so for instance when you think
5:54 about book one you have Ned Aria and
5:56 Sansa all in King's Landing that all
5:58 functions to tell the story of King's Landing
6:00 Landing
6:02 if you have all of our factions
6:04 Gathering into the riverlands eventually
6:06 you're going to have all of them telling
6:07 the same plot line but just in different
6:11 povs so for instance by like the
6:12 midpoint of the book If a lot of our
6:15 Northern people are together like Davos
6:18 like John like Mel um like maybe Arya at
6:21 some point if you have all of these
6:23 Theon Asha if you have all these povs
6:25 together eventually you don't need to
6:27 see as many of these povs maybe we get
6:30 one or two povs of Asha Maybe one or two
6:33 of Davos like that's what I think that
6:35 part of it is like yes it's going to be
6:37 difficult to get all of them together
6:39 but once George does get a lot of these
6:40 povs together it's much easier to tell
6:43 the story but the povs are an
6:47 issue U maybe a minor issue but I think
6:49 still an issue when you look at where
6:52 all of our povs are right there's just a
6:54 lot that has to happen Arya is still in
6:57 Bravo she needs to get to weros and then
6:58 probably some stuff's going to happen
6:59 the riverlands and then meet up with the
7:01 rest of our crew right so A lot's got to
7:03 happen there the whole Veil plot has to
7:05 get kind of shed up a lot of our
7:07 villains in the story have to be gone
7:09 right Roose Bolton and the boltons can't
7:11 be alive in the story when the others come
7:11 come
7:15 over the phrase probably will have to be
7:16 dealt with given that they are a main
7:19 part of the transportation of our forces
7:21 they got to kind of be wiped out when
7:23 you think about other factions right you
7:25 kind of almost think Cersei she has to
7:26 be off the throne at some point by the
7:28 time the others come Maybe not maybe
7:30 they go to or George go the show route
7:32 but a lot of these things have to be
7:34 wrapped up and it is really all of that
7:37 weight is being put on Winds of Winter
7:39 now let's think of some other stuff just
7:42 outside of the story when I look at wins
7:45 of winter I think it's a difficult book
7:46 to write because I think when you look
7:48 at George R Martin's writing style it
7:50 seems like he had a pretty wellth
7:52 thought out way of writing the first
7:55 three books and then after that it seems
7:58 like that's when the real gardening
8:00 style started to kick in and have a big
8:03 impact because Feast for Crows and dance
8:05 I think are easier to write than WIS
8:06 because a lot of it is reactionary to
8:08 what happens in the Storm of Swords
8:10 Winds of Winter now is difficult to
8:12 write because it's not as it's not a
8:15 reactionary thing anymore it's really
8:17 taking all these plot lines that were
8:20 built up and feast and dance paying them
8:22 off but then also setting up the end of
8:24 the story so it runs into the really
8:26 difficult problem that Clash of Kings
8:29 has where Clash of Kings has to be a
8:32 reactionary book to book one but also
8:34 needs to set up all the big payoffs of
8:37 book three so the Red Wedding so tywin's
8:40 death so Joffrey's death so all these
8:42 big things that happened Jaime's reveal
8:44 all that's got to got to be built up in
8:46 book two while also book two having its
8:49 payoffs to book one and being a reaction
8:52 to Ned's death Rob's campaign things of
8:55 that nature Danny hatching the dragons
8:56 like all of it's got to be kind of
8:59 wrapped up in an ice type bow and so I
9:00 think when you look at the first three
9:02 books I would say and I would argue
9:03 Clash of Kings is probably the hardest
9:05 one for George to write I think that's
9:07 going to be the same case here because
9:09 I've always said that the main Series
9:12 has a split the first three are kind of
9:15 the first segment of the story whereas
9:17 book four five six and 7even will all
9:19 kind of be the second half where they
9:22 kind of repeat right book four and five
9:24 in a lot of ways are very similar to
9:28 book one and what it's trying to achieve
9:30 and so wins of is going to take on that
9:32 role of being a Clash of Kings level
9:35 style book but just bigger on a grander
9:37 scale having to do more and accomplish
9:39 more in that set time and that's a very
9:41 difficult task to do and then the last
9:42 book is really just going to be
9:44 finishing the story right how do you
9:46 take everything that has been built up
9:48 and paying it all off you don't have to
9:49 build up anything else anymore it's just
9:52 all payoffs Like A Storm of Swords
9:55 was and so that kind of takes us out of
9:56 the story now at that point I think
9:58 that's a lot of the main reasons that
10:01 the story is is getting delayed why it's
10:02 very difficult for George to write but
10:05 when it comes to George himself why
10:07 would George be struggling to write and
10:11 finish the story well for one George is
10:13 someone that now has come into a
10:16 lifestyle of of Fame of wealth he's able
10:18 to do projects that maybe he was not
10:19 able to do when he was just trying to
10:22 make a living he's able to write video
10:25 games he like Elden ring or he's able to
10:27 start up this Cinematic Universe like
10:29 House of the Dragon the Duncan egg maybe
10:32 even the aegon conquest show he's able
10:33 to be involved in all of those things to
10:36 ensure that his legacy goes with those
10:38 shows even though what should be
10:40 happening is his books but you know you
10:42 also have to build on the fact that does
10:44 George even want to finish his story if
10:46 you look at the Way season 8 ended it
10:48 was a smack in the face right it was
10:51 somebody else telling your story and
10:53 doing it in a really poor way that
10:55 damaged the legacy of that story of A
10:59 Song of Ice and Fire and so that I think
11:00 coming off of Game of Thrones was
11:01 something that was very huge that
11:04 impacted George very negatively I think
11:06 George is also in a state of just
11:08 negativity you look at his last blog
11:11 post that he posted it's very negative
11:13 right talking about a lot of death
11:15 talking about the current state of the
11:18 world it's a very pessimistic way of of
11:20 that he is in I think in this point and
11:22 how he's going to write it feels a lot
11:24 like the Tian character in A Dance with
11:26 Dragons where it's just a very negative
11:29 outlook on everything taking all these
11:31 negative spins and throwing dirt on it
11:34 really and so you look at that aspect of
11:37 it you look at the fans constantly being
11:40 on his case you know anytime he goes on
11:43 Twitter to post anything it's oh but
11:46 where's WIS at or who cares I want wins
11:48 and you know I I don't hate that
11:50 sentiment as in you know I want wins as
11:51 well but the way I go about it I think
11:53 is different from those people I think
11:55 those people you don't need to be
11:57 constantly badgering the man about wins
12:00 of winner if we get it we get it if we
12:01 don't get it we don't get it you know
12:03 that's just how it is and I also find
12:05 that I think George has become more
12:07 interested in telling the history of his
12:10 story than actually finishing and
12:12 telling the rest of his story because
12:14 you think about Fire and Blood you think
12:16 about Duncan egg you think about the
12:18 world of Ice and Fire all of these
12:22 things have started to creep up as Winds
12:24 of Winter has not come out and we've yet
12:27 to see more and more details uh about it
12:28 right we we're not getting updates
12:30 really about it at all anymore right
12:32 about oh he just finished this or he
12:35 just finished that even in the last year
12:37 it seems like he writ almost nothing on
12:40 this story so if it is going to be
12:42 delayed or or even more or if it's never
12:44 going to come out it's going to come
12:45 from a place of lack of
12:48 motivation where it's a really difficult
12:49 task to
12:52 do and you're always giving yourself
12:54 ways out right one of the biggest things
12:55 that I think when you look at people
12:58 trying to lose weight losing weight is a
13:00 very difficult thing because it's a
13:02 completely different change of mindset
13:04 right you're taking what you've been
13:05 doing in the past whether that's not
13:07 eating whether that's or not eating
13:09 right whether that's not
13:13 exercising and it's changing that to do
13:14 that to put yourself on a schedule only
13:16 allowing yourself to eat a certain
13:17 amount of things it's a completely
13:19 psychological thing to me instead of
13:21 physical I think a lot of people think
13:22 weight loss and stuff like that is a
13:24 mainly physical thing it's in my opinion
13:27 it's more a psychological mental thing
13:28 of telling yourself to have restraint
13:30 things like that and that's something
13:31 that I think George R Martin I think
13:33 could be struggling with when writing
13:36 right like giving himself excuses as to
13:38 why not to write right because of the
13:39 things he sees on Twitter about wins of
13:41 winner because of this or that because
13:43 it just seems overwhelming because of
13:45 how long he's kind of put it off you
13:47 then add that with the fact that he's a
13:49 gardener style writer so he could write
13:51 something right he could write a 100
13:53 Pages or whatnot and then completely
13:54 scrap that because it goes against
13:56 something else that he wants to do as he
13:58 was writing the story Feast for Crows
14:01 and dance dragons are products of that
14:02 gardening mindset right we talk about
14:05 the 5year time skip or whatever that was
14:06 originally what was supposed to happen
14:09 and so his gardening kind of said you
14:10 know what let's not do that and let's
14:13 spit up our povs into two books that's
14:15 what happened and so things like that
14:16 could happen all the time right George
14:18 could be sitting down writing a Tyrion
14:20 chapter going
14:22 wait this doesn't make sense because now
14:24 I want to do this so I'm going to take
14:27 that away and it's a good and bad side
14:29 of George because on one side of it it
14:30 allows some of the Great Moments the
14:32 great writing that George has given us
14:34 throughout the years with the first five
14:36 books and even his history books but it
14:38 also makes him a very slow writer
14:39 because you also got to be thinking
14:41 about from a mentality standpoint if
14:42 you're trying to write and nothing's
14:44 coming to you well you're thinking well
14:46 I'll just sit on it right I'll sit on it
14:47 and wait for the idea to come to me
14:50 instead of trying to force it or trying
14:52 to just iron out what the issues are and
14:54 what I could do with the character or
14:56 characters whatever is causing him an
14:58 issue and so that is another part of it
15:00 that that is really difficult to look at
15:03 and go yeah that's why he's so slow
15:05 because George himself when you when he
15:08 is ever talking to other book writers he
15:09 is someone that struggles with realizing
15:11 that these people put out like a book
15:13 every year he just cannot do that
15:15 because it takes him longer to I think
15:16 process what he wants to happen to the
15:20 story and it changes so much so yeah you
15:21 put that into effect so all these things
15:22 are going
15:26 on that would really give us a reason as
15:27 to why he's not working on the story as
15:29 much or finishing it
15:31 you then take that and you look at
15:33 George's condition physically George is
15:36 not a healthy person he is he's very
15:38 overweight um which is going to affect
15:41 you right when you start getting older
15:43 and you know I I again I hope George
15:44 lives forever right that that's best
15:46 case scenario but looking at
15:48 realistically I am someone that can
15:51 speak from experience you know I was a
15:53 lot heavier right I was considered you
15:55 know obese if you go back I if you go
15:57 back to like the first video on this
15:59 channel with me in it
16:01 you can tell I'm much different than I
16:03 am now but that's not even close to like
16:06 where I was but when you are that
16:10 unhealthy you definitely feel like you
16:13 just do not feel as motivated you don't
16:15 feel like you just feel bad I I don't
16:17 know how to explain it you don't feel
16:20 like you can do things in my opinion
16:21 that's how I felt it's different for
16:24 everybody else but I think that could
16:25 also be an effect of it right you're
16:27 getting older too as well like when you
16:29 get older your body starts to break down
16:31 it's harder to do things and sit there
16:33 and do things for like 8 n hours and
16:35 write a story so all of that I think is
16:38 is a conflicting part of why George is
16:40 struggling to write um the story
16:43 finishing the story and you know
16:44 hopefully I think I still hold out hope
16:47 for wins I think a dream of spring if we
16:48 ever get it it's going to be because of
16:51 another writer or it'll be because of
16:53 something down the line that we just
16:54 basically get what George had already
16:57 written but it's not actually the full
16:59 book type thing
17:01 um yeah but let me know what you guys
17:03 think I also will say again thank you to
17:07 my patreon mark Matthews for um you know
17:09 supporting the channel and I hope I did
17:12 a good job on the video um I know it
17:14 wasn't exactly what you wanted but I did
17:16 try my best so thank you guys all for
17:17 watching I'll see you guys in the next
