0:02 Would you believe me if I said you could
0:03 get paid [music] to watch Netflix
0:06 movies? Well, don't because it's a scam.
0:09 And yet, when you type in ways for teens
0:11 to earn money on Tik Tok, that's the
0:14 first thing that comes up. Here are two
0:15 reality checks that [music] other
0:17 creators will not tell you. First, if
0:19 someone's telling you that you can make
0:21 five figures a month doing 15 minutes of
0:24 work a day, they are lying. Even if it's
0:26 true, by [music] the time those secrets
0:28 reach you, it's already too late because
0:30 everyone's doing it. So, your chances of
0:32 success are slim to none. [music] Two,
0:34 if you're on social media and you hear a
0:36 creator boast about the fact that they
0:38 earn x amount of money a month, but to
0:40 know how they did it, you have to buy
0:42 their course. Just know that [music]
0:43 they've earned most of their money by
0:46 selling courses, not doing any of the
0:48 jobs that the courses advertise. [music]
0:50 There are real ways to earn passive
0:52 income as a student. And so, in this
0:54 video, I'll give you five non-scammy
0:56 side hustles [music] to actually earn
0:59 income. I'll even give you free guides,
1:01 steps, and testimonials from people who
1:03 have actually succeeded [music] in doing
1:05 those side hustles. So, watch till the
1:07 end so you don't miss out on any free
1:09 resources. [music] Let's go. First,
1:11 let's start with freelancing. I'll break
1:13 down what freelancing is, [music] give
1:15 you real ideas to try, how to get
1:17 clients, and tell you what actually
1:18 makes someone stand out coming from
1:21 someone who actually hires freelancers
1:22 all the time from my YouTube [music]
1:25 channel. Freelancing is about selling a
1:27 skill that you're good at on your own
1:27 terms. [music]
1:29 You pick your hours, your clients, your
1:31 projects, and yes, you can do all of
1:33 this in your pajamas. The best part is
1:35 that you're getting paid for something
1:37 you already know how to do. [music] The
1:39 important part is that since you set
1:41 your own hours, it will not disrupt your
1:43 [music] studies. I have proof. My
1:45 Malaysian friend Ryan does copywriting
1:48 and he charges about 1,200 USD [music]
1:50 per project. and he's a full-time
1:53 student. Writing, designing, organizing,
1:55 cleaning, whatever your skill is,
1:57 someone out there needs it and will pay
1:59 you for it. Now, let's talk about ideas
2:01 that you can try. [music] Example one,
2:04 are you addicted to social media? If you
2:06 said no, you're lying. When we think
2:08 about [music] jobs in social media, we
2:10 automatically think about video editing
2:12 and being a manager for content
2:14 creators. But [music] YouTubers alone
2:16 need script writers, personal assistants
2:18 to handle PR and emails and [music]
2:21 thumbnail designers. Did you know many
2:23 commentary channels actually hire
2:25 researchers to help them research really
2:27 [music] niche topics? Vloggers need
2:30 cameramen and editors. I know many Tik
2:31 Tockers that post daily that would love
2:33 for someone to help them come up with a
2:35 content plan for each week. Maybe you
2:37 can give them a list of videos to
2:38 [music] make with the appropriate
2:40 trending sound that they can use. I
2:42 mean, if you're already on TikTok 24/7,
2:44 you're basically doing this job, but
2:46 just [music] unpaid. Feel free to
2:47 screenshot, but if you're bilingual, you
2:49 can try these jobs. And [music] if
2:51 you're good at writing, you can try
2:53 these jobs. If you're stuck, type this
2:55 prompt into chat GBT and see what ideas
2:57 [music] it gives you. I don't think
2:59 people realize how much money you can
3:01 actually make with freelancing. [music]
3:03 Let's do the math using this Etsy shop
3:05 as an example. Everything this shop
3:07 sells on Etsy, you can easily design and
3:09 sell using Printify. [music] They've
3:12 made 34,000 sales. If the average price
3:15 of their product is $20, that's $920,000.
3:17 $920,000.
3:19 But for a students like you, something
3:21 like this page might be more realistic.
3:23 But [music] still, only one year on
3:27 Etsy, almost 4,000 sales. That's $57,000
3:29 USD. I'll teach you how to do all of
3:31 this in the next part of the video. But
3:33 this is absolutely [music] possible,
3:35 even if your design artistic skills
3:38 don't surpass Stickman level. Now,
3:39 bestie, [music] you're probably
3:41 thinking, "Okay, but where do I actually
3:43 get hired as a [music] freelancer? Here
3:46 are the main popular platforms that you
3:47 can start with." Feel free [music] to
3:50 screenshot, but how do you actually get
3:52 clients? You can, of course, get clients
3:54 organically by them just browsing
3:55 through the platforms and finding you
3:57 there. But my friend Ryan texted me this
3:59 [music] advice and he said, "If I could
4:01 do things differently, I'd relentlessly
4:03 respond to job postings on marketplaces
4:05 like LinkedIn and Upwork, as well as
4:07 sending cold pictures to any brand I
4:10 come across online." [music] 95% of the
4:12 time, you're left on red, but the 5% is
4:15 what we're aiming for. So, be proactive
4:17 and reach out to potential clients and
4:20 companies via DMs or emails. Listen up.
4:22 I get messages and emails [music] every
4:23 single day from people wanting to work
4:25 with me on my YouTube channel. and most
4:28 of them do it wrong. So if you're going
4:29 to reach out to someone, please [music]
4:33 do these things. Please at least follow
4:36 me. In fact, I made a whole free
4:38 document containing tips to create an
4:40 outstanding LinkedIn resume and
4:42 portfolio. The payment is for you to
4:44 subscribe, like this video, then go to
4:45 my Instagram and message me the [music]
4:48 words side hustle. Basically, in one DM
4:50 or email, I should immediately know
4:52 these things about you. Now, here are
4:54 the disadvantages of freelancing. [music]
4:54 [music]
4:56 Because the barrier to entry is low,
4:59 that makes freelancing competitive. But
5:00 then again, there are no free meals in
5:02 this world. The harder you work, the
5:04 more that you will earn. Ryan said,
5:06 "When I started, I was 12. I had no
5:08 money for courses or membership
5:10 programs. So instead, I read successful
5:13 works of high-profile copywriters. These
5:14 are the people he recommends checking
5:17 out, including himself, Ryan." So don't
5:18 stress when you're not an expert when
5:20 you [music] first start out. Just make
5:22 sure you dedicate time to improving your
5:24 skills every [music] single week.
5:26 Subscribe if you're enjoying this video
5:28 so far. I put in a lot of effort. I went
5:30 into detail on how you can create an
5:31 outstanding [music] portfolio as a
5:34 freelancer in this video here. So, make
5:36 sure you go watch that video. Now,
5:38 starting your own business without going
5:39 broke. I'll [music] tell you the
5:42 realistic pros and cons, the smartest
5:44 way to begin, the tools you actually
5:46 need, and the [music] mistakes that I
5:48 made so you won't make them as well. And
5:49 yes, I've got some free resources for
5:51 [music] you. So stay tuned to get it.
5:54 When I was 17, I started a phone case
5:56 business. And guess what? I didn't sell
5:58 [music] out because most people don't.
6:00 The reason why you think everyone does
6:01 is because the [music] only people that
6:04 post about it online are the ones who
6:06 do. Most teens and [music] students do
6:08 not have the budget or the space to deal
6:10 with inventory. If I could do it all
6:12 over again, I would start with something
6:14 less [music] risky like a print on
6:16 demand platform. And one example of that
6:18 is Printify. Using a print on demand
6:20 platform is [music] really popular for a
6:22 reason. It's because it's one of the
6:24 easiest, loweffort ways to earn money as
6:26 a side hustle. I mentioned it briefly
6:28 just now, but [music] here's how it
6:31 works. Your product is only made after
6:33 someone places an order. So, let's take
6:35 Printify as an example. Once [music] you
6:37 upload your design, it gets sent to one
6:39 of their shipping partners. Then only
6:41 after someone makes a purchase, they'll
6:42 print, [music] pack, and ship off the
6:44 product to your customer. Creating an
6:46 account is free. You don't need any
6:48 startup capital. And unless you want to
6:50 sell something handmade, [music]
6:51 I highly doubt that you can't find what
6:53 you want to sell on these platforms
6:55 because Printify alone has over 1,500 [music]
6:56 [music]
6:58 products. Just upload your design,
7:01 connect it to Etsy, Shopify, or Tik Tok
7:02 shop, [music] and then you're in
7:04 business. There are many tutorials on
7:06 how to do this online, so I'll link a
7:07 few down below. [music] I'll tell you
7:09 what you can use to design your products
7:11 in a little bit, but I have a Korean
7:12 sister-in-law [music] that runs a
7:14 successful Korean sauce company. So,
7:16 trust when I say printing, packing, and
7:18 shipping is a nightmare. So, that's why
7:20 if you're a busy student, I highly
7:22 recommend print on demand platforms
7:23 [music] because then you can actually
7:25 focus on studying and you're not stuck
7:28 at 2 a.m. trying to ship packages. If
7:29 you're actually serious, I went and
7:30 checked. [music] You can actually sign
7:33 up to something called Printify Premium
7:35 and you'll spend $29 a month, but you'll
7:38 get $20 off everything. So, that's
7:39 additional profit. I've linked [music]
7:41 the website down below. Go and explore.
7:43 Now, here are the free tools that you
7:45 need to launch your business. First,
7:47 Canva. [music] I use Canva for a lot of
7:49 the animations that you see in my videos
7:50 and also for the text in my thumbnails. [music]
7:51 [music]
7:53 It's perfect for designing product
7:55 mockups, Instagram posts, and business
7:56 cards. You name it, they [music] have
7:59 it. Two, Procreate. All those videos of
8:02 people drawing on their iPads. 90% of
8:03 the [music] time it's this app called
8:04 Procreate. I know because I use
8:06 Procreate for all my handdrawn
8:07 animations and also for all my
8:09 thumbnails. It's $13, but it's the
8:11 [music] best $13 you'll ever spend.
8:14 Three, ChatVT. Ask it to guide you in
8:16 writing product descriptions, SEO
8:17 keywords, [music] brand names, social
8:20 media captions, and so much more. I know
8:21 that this is all really overwhelming.
8:23 So, to help you out, in that free
8:25 document I mentioned previously, I've
8:27 also included a free guide that you can
8:29 refer to if you're interested in
8:30 starting [music] your own business. Just
8:32 follow these instructions to get it.
8:35 Next, online tutoring. [music]
8:37 People severely underestimate online
8:39 tutoring. An advertisement might play in
8:41 the next few seconds. So, if you like to
8:43 support this channel, please do not skip
8:45 the ad. Thank you. This is one of the
8:47 most convenient ways to earn good money
8:49 [music] as a student and one that I
8:51 highly recommend out of everything in
8:52 this video. Now, [music] I know what
8:54 some of you are thinking. FA, don't I
8:56 need perfect grades to tutor someone?
8:59 Not at all. My first [music] job was
9:01 tutoring 7-year-olds at a daycare. You
9:03 don't need a rocket science degree to do
9:05 that. Fun fact, I actually vlogged it
9:06 and it's [music] my first ever YouTube
9:09 video. You only need to teach someone a
9:10 few levels below you and know how to
9:12 explain things clearly. [music] Students
9:14 actually prefer learning from someone
9:16 who's just a few steps ahead rather than
9:19 a prodigy who doesn't understand any
9:21 beginner struggles. But how do you get
9:23 students [music] and start tutoring?
9:26 Warm connections are your best friend in
9:28 this scenario. This means starting with
9:30 people who already know you. So tell
9:32 your teachers because they often know
9:34 younger students who need help and can
9:36 recommend you directly. Reach out to
9:38 family and friends via WhatsApp and
9:39 WeChat and make a message that they
9:41 [music] can easily forward to any
9:43 students that might want tutoring.
9:45 Screenshot this and also use community
9:47 groups. I used to search up groups on
9:49 [music] Facebook, join them and then
9:51 promote my services there. Make sure you
9:53 message the admins of the group and
9:55 check if you can self-promote. Really
9:56 important, make sure [music] you ask
9:58 your first students to write up
9:59 testimonials about how good your
10:02 services are so that you can use them to
10:04 boost your [music] prices later on. My
10:07 friend Afra charges $100 per hour. Afra
10:08 isn't [music] an expert with a fancy
10:11 PhD. She just helps students with Esau,
10:13 IELTS, and academic writing. She started
10:15 small by posting on social media [music]
10:17 platforms like Sky Kiwi and TradeMe at
10:19 the time. Afra and her friend who also
10:21 does tutoring actually got [music] so
10:22 much demand to the point where they
10:24 started an online tutoring business that
10:27 turned over 5 million [music] a year.
10:29 Next, selling your notes. Selling my
10:31 notes was actually how I earned my first
10:34 $10,000 as a student. Some of you might
10:35 know this. [music] Now, if tutoring
10:37 feels like too much of a time commitment
10:38 and you want something that you can
10:40 literally do now after finishing this
10:42 video, [music] selling study guides or
10:45 your notes is a great alternative. A lot
10:46 of students struggle with time
10:49 management, especially during exams, and
10:50 [music] just don't have the time or
10:52 energy to make their own notes. Even I
10:54 buy notes in university. I've actually
10:56 talked [music] about this before briefly
10:58 in a previous video. I'll link it right
11:01 here. But now I'm going to explain how I
11:03 sold my notes in detail this time. I
11:05 started by scanning my handwritten notes
11:07 using an app called Cam [music] Scanner.
11:09 Of course, if your notes are typed out,
11:10 you don't have to do this, but if you're
11:12 using Cam Scanner, please pay to [music]
11:14 remove the watermark. It just looks more
11:16 professional. And really important,
11:18 please remember [music] to add your own
11:20 watermark to protect yourself because
11:22 someone has actually taken my notes and
11:24 acted like it [music] was theirs and
11:26 sold it. Then I uploaded my notes into
11:28 Google Drive and set the privacy [music]
11:30 settings to restricted. Then I went into
11:32 Facebook study groups and offered free
11:34 tutoring in exchange for me being able
11:36 to promote my notes. This is what I
11:38 talked about just now. And I even asked
11:39 my teachers to tell their younger
11:41 students that [music] I'm selling my
11:43 notes. I think my YouTube channel at the
11:45 time had about 600 subscribers. So it
11:47 was really small, but it also helped me
11:49 boost [music] my note selling business.
11:50 You can also sell your notes on these
11:52 platforms. Please screenshot. Every
11:54 school, university, and country sells
11:55 your notes on different platforms.
11:58 [music] So, make sure you check. But my
12:00 top advice is if you really want to
12:02 level up, [music] turn your notes or
12:05 your study material into physical books.
12:06 I mean, look at this. There are nursing
12:08 [music] students doing this and even law
12:11 students selling templates on Etsy. So,
12:12 you remember Printify that I mentioned
12:14 [music] earlier? This is the kind of
12:16 thing that you can use it for. Here you
12:17 can upload your notes, planners, and
12:19 study materials. Then, they'll just
12:21 print and ship it for you. Once you
12:22 [music] found your customer and they've
12:25 paid, just ask for their email and you
12:27 can send them the Google Drive link.
12:29 Important disclaimer, always check your
12:31 school or university's policy on [music]
12:34 note selling. Some don't allow it, so
12:36 please be careful. Next, social media as
12:39 a side hustle and if I recommend it.
12:40 It's no secret, [music] bestie, that you
12:42 can earn a lot of money doing social
12:45 media, but I personally would not
12:47 recommend it [music] as the first source
12:49 of income that you should pursue as a
12:51 YouTuber. It might be weird for you to
12:53 hear me say this, but I'm just coming
12:55 from a place of an older sister if my
12:57 younger sibling wants to start. It's a
13:00 really long game and the money isn't
13:02 even guaranteed. So, I got my first
13:04 YouTube paycheck about 6 months after
13:06 [music] starting and this is really
13:08 quick. By the way, this is a rare case.
13:11 That paycheck was for 680 ringit and
13:14 that was [music] 6 months of un work. In
13:17 fact, there are over 114 million YouTube
13:19 channels that are active right now. But
13:22 less than 1% of channels make any money.
13:24 Instagram and Tik Tok work differently.
13:26 You only start getting paid a livable
13:28 wage after brands [music] start noticing
13:30 you and partnering with you. So, if you
13:33 need the money now, I do not recommend
13:35 starting social media. In fact, use the
13:37 comment section down below to ask me any
13:38 questions that you have about social
13:40 media and I'll try to reply as many of
13:43 you as possible because I know that a
13:44 lot of you want to start [music] social
13:46 media but don't know who to ask. But I
13:49 will 100% recommend social media if
13:50 you're pursuing it alongside [music]
13:53 your studies and a part-time job. Do not
13:55 under any circumstance quit your
13:57 education or your job to start social
14:00 media. There's a reason why I post so
14:02 many mini vlogs on shorts and reals.
14:04 It's because I want to show you that you
14:06 can do both. You can pursue education
14:08 and pursue creativity [music] on the
14:10 side. I refuse to be another creator
14:12 that drops out. If you've made it this
14:14 [music] far, comment down below. I will
14:16 become rich to really manifest and lock
14:17 it in. [music] Please click the like
14:19 button because I really worked hard on
14:22 this video. Subscribe and also turn on
14:23 the notification [music] bell and set it
14:25 to all so you don't miss out on any
14:27 future uploads. And I'll see you in my
14:33 Let's do the math. Let's do the math.
14:37 Let's do the math. I'm out of breath. I
14:40 asked on Insta what outfit I should wear
14:42 for this video, and you picked blue. I
14:44 wanted to wear the pink one. So, next
14:45 week I'm going to ask you what I should
14:46 wear for the next video, and you're
14:48 going to pick the pink one, even if you
