0:02 let's start off by talking about your
0:04 daily routine tell me about your daily
0:08 routine okay well I wake up around 8
0:10 a.m. uh every morning it's like
0:14 clockwork and I brush my teeth I wash my
0:17 face breakfast um and then I get in my
0:22 car and I drive to work and uh yeah
0:26 that's basically it I come back home and
0:30 uh fix myself up some dinner and watch
0:34 on Netflix very average mundane how has
0:36 your daily routine changed since you
0:39 were a child not much except I go to
0:42 work now instead of school um but uh I
0:45 get a lot of free time over the weekends
0:47 so I get to do the things I like to do
0:51 such as meditation and writing I love
0:54 journaling I'd love to put out some
0:57 novels one day um I always thought that
0:59 I would retire to the countryside in my
1:02 old age with my animals and write books
1:04 so yeah so writing
1:06 writing
1:09 yoga what else do I do on the weekends
1:13 oh I want to try horse riding as well is
1:14 your daily routine different at the
1:17 weekend compared to during the week yes
1:21 100% so uh the weekday are for work
1:24 mainly being productive paying the bills
1:26 and the weekends I get to do whatever I
1:30 want to do so really treasure and enjoy
1:33 my weekends let's talk now about dreams
1:36 do you dream much at night I do dream
1:40 sometimes but not very often and when I
1:43 do dream I don't tend to remember my
1:45 dreams do you think we can learn
1:48 anything from dreams I think so I think
1:50 there's lots of repressed emotions and
1:53 stress that come out um during our
1:55 dreams uh that perhaps we haven't
1:58 addressed in real life so yes I I
2:02 believe we can learn quite a lot and I
2:04 suppose some people can even you know
2:06 predict the future through dreams or
2:09 images that they see I'm kind of on the
2:11 fence about that I don't know
2:14 but seems credible now let's talk about
2:17 email what kind of emails do you receive
2:19 about your work I receive a lot of
2:24 emails from my hups so my manager people
2:28 from other departments as well usually
2:30 following up for things
2:34 um or scheduling meetings um just a lot
2:36 of work that needs to be done and
2:39 reminders to please do this work so do
2:42 you normally reply to emails as soon as
2:44 you receive them oh
2:47 no um I don't because I feel like
2:49 there's no point in replying if the work
2:52 hasn't been done so let's say we're
2:53 supposed to schedule a meeting and
2:55 something needs to be done I'd much
2:58 prefer to get that thing done and then
3:00 respond by saying okay here it is here's
3:02 the file that you um that you requested
3:06 and that you asked for and um yeah
3:10 instead of you know a random sort of
3:13 hello well received thank you are you
3:15 happy to receive emails that are
3:17 advertising things no I don't think
3:20 anyone would be unless it's for a brand
3:24 that I follow or that I like unless
3:25 they're having a
3:29 sale um in that case I'd be more than
3:31 happy to receive their emails now let's
3:34 talk about exercise how often do you
3:38 exercise not as often as I would like I
3:41 find the gym to be quite tedious and
3:44 boring I prefer doing classes but then
3:46 to get myself to the class and sit
3:49 through traffic coming back so I would
3:52 love to work out a bit more frequently
3:54 and I I tend to like
3:58 slower exercises such as yoga or
4:01 swimming something where I don't really
4:04 have to break a sweat which is not very
4:06 um realistic but yeah what do you think
4:09 is the best exercise to keep fit um I've
4:12 tried Pilates I think it's really good
4:15 for toning the the body and the
4:18 muscles and you see a big difference it
4:20 might not burn as many calories but you
4:22 do see a huge difference in your
4:25 silhouette so have the types of exercise
4:27 people like to do changed since you were
4:30 a child I would say not really the types
4:33 of exercises that people do I would say
4:37 they just don't exercise as much perhaps
4:39 it's gone from cycling and Tennis to
4:41 dancing on Tik Tok I think that would be
4:44 the main difference if I'm really honest
4:46 describe a time when you enjoyed
4:48 visiting a family member or friends I
4:49 went back to
4:52 Taiwan uh last month and I stayed for
4:55 about 3 weeks I was visiting friends and
4:58 family um but uh I don't really have
5:02 much family in Taiwan just my mom so
5:04 I've noticed that you know in life when
5:06 you don't have a lot of family the
5:10 universe brings you friends and it might
5:11 sound a bit cliche but friends really
5:13 are the family that you know you've
5:17 chosen and so I've now moved away from
5:19 Taiwan but when I was there made a lot
5:21 of very very good I think lifelong
5:24 friends who I go back and visit
5:27 periodically I visited Shirley I've been
5:30 friends with her since I was 15 so so
5:32 that's about 15 years now so you can
5:35 guess my age um Tiffany I've known her
5:39 since I was 18 um sill Eva so I visited
5:42 these friends in particular we just
5:44 pretty much not to sound boring we just
5:48 hung out and talked a lot caught up a
5:51 lot on life what's been happening who
5:54 are you dating you know are you happy so
5:58 there was a lot of that over wine or tea
6:02 and um I also went and visited sir's new uh
6:03 uh
6:05 restaurant and he's been doing really
6:07 really well for himself I'm very happy
6:12 about that we went and visited um Jackie
6:16 and um found out that he was actually
6:18 also back in Taiwan for his wedding so
6:20 he went to his wedding had a bit too
6:22 much whiskey but that's okay we won't
6:26 repeat that experience um it was fun in
6:29 in general it was it was a lot of fun um
6:31 it it was lovely to see Tiffany and Eva
6:34 because they both had babies during the
6:37 past one or two years and it was lovely
6:40 to see them yeah so we've been talking
6:43 about people that you visited and we're
6:46 going to continue to talk about family
6:48 when do families celebrate together in your
6:49 your
6:52 country to thank you for watching this
6:54 video I want to give you a free course
6:56 that has helped thousands of students
6:58 improve their I speaking score what it's
7:00 going to do is take you through every
7:02 single part of the test and give you
7:04 strategies for part one part two and
7:07 part three and also allow you to
7:09 practice at home for free and get
7:12 feedback to sign up for that for free
7:13 all you have to do is just click the
7:15 link in the description thanks very much
7:17 and let's get back to the video Chinese
7:19 New Year that's a big
7:23 one uh the mid- Autumn Festival that's
7:25 also a big one any celebration really is
7:27 an excuse for the family to get together
7:29 which can be a bit stressful at times
7:31 because we all know how we feel about
7:33 our families we love them but it's sort
7:36 of a LoveHate relationship CU they can
7:40 get on our no sometimes but oh
7:43 well why is it that some people might
7:47 not enjoy attending family gatherings I
7:50 think because you know relatives
7:52 especially get it in their heads that
7:54 their family and so they think they can
7:58 ask any questions you know when are you
8:00 going to get married that's a big one
8:01 when are you going to have a baby while
8:04 you wasting your time so that that can
8:06 be a bit stressful because the whole
8:09 point of you
8:13 know being on vacation cuz now to see my
8:14 family I have to go on vacation and go
8:17 back to my country to see them is to
8:20 relax uh not to get stressed out so I
8:21 think a lot of people have the same
8:23 experience now let's talk about everyday
8:26 life in families do you think it is a
8:28 good thing for parents to help their
8:31 children with their homework yes I think
8:33 it's a very good thing I think it's
8:35 important to
8:38 have your mom or your dad present in
8:40 your childhood it's very good for mental
8:42 health so you don't need to see a
8:44 therapist when you grow up how important
8:47 do you think it is for families to eat
8:49 dinner together oh very very very
8:51 important it's important to feel that
8:54 connection because you could be people
8:57 living in the same house if you don't
9:00 communicate regularly interact regularly
9:01 what's the point of having a family
9:04 what's the point of having you know your
9:06 parents around then if they're not going
9:09 to be parents do you believe that
9:11 everyone in a family should share chores
9:14 yes I think so I think uh that's very
9:19 important however let's say if Dad is
9:23 out working most of the week then maybe
9:25 he doesn't need to do as many chores I
9:27 know it might sound a bit sexist but
9:30 it's really about um um what's the word
9:33 Distributing work evenly I'm now going
9:35 to give you some feedback on your
9:37 performance so we're going to break the
9:40 feedback down into uh part one part two
9:42 and part three and then I'm going to
9:44 give you some band scores and your
9:47 scores for pronunciation fluency grammar
9:49 and vocabulary so thank you for making
9:51 it this far in the video I want to give

10:29 answer 100% of the questions that we get
10:31 hope that you would become a VIP if not
10:33 enjoy the rest of this free video part
10:36 one you did a great job with part one it
10:38 was like talking to a colleague talking
10:41 to a friend um you didn't really have to
10:43 think much about the answers you didn't
10:45 really have to think about the language
10:47 you were using it was all very very
10:50 natural one thing I don't think this is
10:53 going to be a huge issue for you um but
10:55 sometimes under pressure on exam day
10:57 some students do this and you do it a
10:59 little bit which is you list like lots
11:02 of things if you did that with too many
11:04 answers you're indicating to The
11:07 Examiner I don't really know how to
11:11 construct a sentence exactly exactly so
11:13 it is much better to pick one or two
11:15 things and go deep on those things
11:17 rather than go wide so going wide is
11:19 just you know what's your favorite food
11:22 I like pizza I like burgers I like sushi
11:24 I like Thai I like it's better to pick
11:27 one of those I like taii because and
11:30 explain why that is so that allows you
11:32 to really show off your grammar show off
11:34 your vocabulary because your grammar and
11:37 vocabulary is amazing we want to show
11:39 that to the examiner I don't think it's
11:41 going to be an issue for you but as I
11:44 said some people when they're practicing
11:46 um do amazingly well and then as soon as
11:49 you I call it test mode as soon as they
11:51 get going to the test they start to do
11:53 these little weird things that are kind
11:56 of defensive um for someone like you we
11:58 don't want you to be defensive we want
12:01 to show how how good you are part two
12:03 you had no problem talking about that
12:05 you could have talked about that for
12:07 many more minutes than than two minutes
12:10 um and I have no no feedback on that
12:12 it's just it was really really good part
12:15 three you did develop your answers
12:17 probably enough but you could have
12:19 developed them a little bit more you
12:22 could have possibly shown the other side
12:24 of things you you talked about
12:26 everything kind of from a personal point
12:28 of view which is good because it's
12:31 you're very fluent when you do that just
12:33 remember part three is a discussion of
12:35 ideas so it's good to think well I
12:37 really think this but I can sort of see
12:40 why other people would think this way um
12:42 so for example do you think it's a good
12:44 idea for parents to help children with
12:45 their school work now that's pretty
12:47 obvious that yes that's a good thing but
12:49 you could say something like however I
12:51 understand that some moms and dads are
12:54 really busy and and they don't have time
12:57 to do that I don't agree with that but I
12:59 can understand why why is it that some
13:02 people might not enjoy attending family
13:04 occasions you gave a very straight
13:06 answer which was very very
13:08 good but you could have maybe well
13:11 that's what I feel but maybe there's
13:13 this other reason why people um you
13:15 don't need to list you know five
13:18 different reasons but maybe say but some
13:20 people might not have these issues
13:23 perhaps yeah yeah or something like that
13:25 pronunciation you would get a band nine
13:28 which is the top band because you're
13:32 your pronun ation is is perfect um not
13:34 just accent so a lot of people watching
13:36 this video will listen to you and think
13:39 oh she has a beautiful British accent
13:42 and that is something that people can
13:44 strive for but they don't need a
13:46 particular type of British accent to do
13:48 well you could have a Taiwanese accent
13:51 an Indian accent a Vietnamese accent and
13:53 still get a band nine it's more about
13:56 the clarity of your accent rather than
13:58 the type of accent that you have now you
13:59 do have
14:03 one of those very uh admired accents for
14:05 people on our channel so people will be
14:07 very impressed with that but people
14:08 watching shouldn't think I need to sign
14:11 more British um because it's not a it's
14:15 not a British RP test it is a you know
14:18 it is a an English test Clarity I
14:21 understood 100% of what you were saying
14:24 and then you also have very high level
14:26 pronunciation features such as
14:29 intonation so you show meaning and humor
14:32 and things like that through intonation
14:35 you also show that through um sentence
14:37 stress so sentence stress is like this
14:40 is my phone this isn't your phone so you
14:42 emphasize certain words to display
14:45 meaning your connected speech is great
14:47 so if somebody's learning they might say
14:51 do you want to go to the coffee shop so
14:53 everything is perfectly clear but how
14:55 you would say it do you want to go to
14:57 the coffee shop do you want to go so it
14:59 signs kind of like one continuous a sign
15:02 or word so band nine for pronunciation
15:04 coherence and fluency are in the same
15:07 band and you get whatever is lowest so
15:10 if your coherence is band eight and your
15:12 fluency is band nine you get a band
15:15 eight and vice versa your fluency is
15:18 perfect if you listen to someone who is
15:21 learning English their fluency suffers
15:23 because they're trying to fetch the
15:25 correct word or the correct phrase or
15:27 should I use past simple or present
15:29 perfect you don't have any issues with
15:31 that and you don't have any issues with
15:34 ideas and information you're just
15:37 without effort your coherence coherence
15:38 is did you answer the question and did
15:42 you develop it enough you did but we
15:43 need to be careful with that if you did
15:46 the real test because as I said your
15:48 fluency could be perfect but you're not
15:49 developing your answers enough which
15:52 could drag you down I don't think it
15:55 would but we need to out of abundance of
15:57 of caution grammar I didn't hear a
15:59 single grammar mistake
16:02 so the examiner will be thinking about
16:05 accuracy did she make any mistakes and
16:07 range does she have enough tenses enough
16:10 grammatical structures to talk about the
16:12 things that she wants to talk about so
16:14 for example I asked you about how is
16:17 exercise change since you were a child
16:19 that requires you to use past simple
16:22 present perfect things like that you had
16:25 no problem with that whatsoever so b
16:28 nine for grammar b nine for vocabulary
16:31 as well because you used amazing
16:34 idiomatic vocabulary like this a native
16:36 English speaker will use idiomatic
16:40 phrases which are phrases that Learners
16:42 don't really know how to use you only
16:44 really know how to use them if you grew
16:46 up in an English speaking country or you
16:48 got to a very very high level of English
16:51 vocabulary is very precise and accurate
16:53 and you have a huge range of vocabulary
16:55 you could talk about any topic that I
16:59 could throw at you so b n all all across
17:01 the board thank you which is extremely
17:03 rare uh less than 1% of people get
17:06 upline oh wow okay well thank you very
17:08 much I'll work on my coherence it is
17:11 true I tend to think out loud so maybe
17:12 it's not coherent in that sense because
17:15 I'm just basically listing in my head
17:18 yeah yeah good thank you very much thank you
