Tomorrow is the opening ceremony for the
Olympics. And as we prepare for the
athletes to show off their skills, the
host cities are looking towards
something just as important, security.

widespread ever, bringing with it new
challenges. Amarie Tieran will be
joining us live in Italy for the
duration of the games to talk all things
Olympics. And yeah, we're talking uh

always a priority at the games and
especially right here at the start,
making sure everything is secure. And
what makes it especially challenging for
these games, these winter games, is the
multiple sites, the two big host cities,
Milana and Cino, and then also the other
mountain villages. And so you have the
police and you also have the Italian
army working on security. So there's a
big distance between the sites. But the
good news is when they get to that sites

>> Absolutely. And it's a matter of
manpower in the end, you know, and how
many people you are able to uh to uh deploy.

complex city. It's a large city, but the
city used to, you know, very large
events every year
>> and also
up in the mountain town of Cortina along
with several other mountain villages
spread out across northern Italy. All uh
police forces will be involved local,
regional, national. Uh the uh ministry
of defense. So we have we will have the army.

>> They're coordinating transportation and
communication across more than 13,000
square miles.
>> The mountain villages, the fact they're
all spread, it's easy to control one uh
you know separate from the others. Of
course, there is an overall view on
security through the entire 22,000 km
>> and then putting the focus on smaller
areas. And this makes it uh uh somewhat
easier within the difficulties of a
large perimeter.
>> It's an Olympic size security plan for
three weeks of the winter games.
