0:02 we have two portions of the word of God
0:05 for our consideration
0:08 today one in the Old Testament and one
0:11 in the new our Old Testament portion is
0:13 Exodus chap
0:15 17 the first seven
0:19 verses and the New Testament explanation
0:25 of this in John 7 37 through
0:32 and all the congregation of the children
0:35 of Israel journeyed from the Wilderness
0:38 of Zin after their
0:40 Journeys according to the Commandment of
0:45 the Lord and encamped in
0:48 reedem and there was no water for the
0:49 people to
0:52 drink wherefore the people did strive
0:55 with Moses and said give us water that
0:56 we may
0:59 drink and Moses said unto them why
1:00 strive ye with
1:04 me wherefore do ye put the Lord to the
1:07 test and the people thirsted there for
1:10 water and the people murmured against
1:13 Moses and said why hast thou brought us
1:15 up out of Egypt to kill us and our
1:17 children and our cattle with
1:21 thirst and Moses Cried unto the Lord
1:24 saying what shall I do unto this people
1:28 they are almost ready to Stone me and
1:30 the Lord said unto Moses go go on before
1:33 the people and take with thee of the
1:37 Elders of Israel and thy rod wherewith
1:38 thou smot us the
1:42 river take in thine hand and
1:46 go behold I will stand before thee there
1:48 upon the rock in
1:52 Horeb and thou shalt Smite The Rock and
1:55 there shall come water out of it that
1:56 the people may
2:00 drink and Moses did so in the sight of
2:02 the Elders of
2:04 Israel and he called the name of the
2:07 place Massa and
2:10 meba because of the striving of the
2:13 children of Israel and because they
2:17 tested the Lord saying is the Lord among
2:19 us or
2:27 7:37 in the last day that great day of
2:32 the feast Jes Jesus stood and cried out
2:35 saying if any man thirsts let him come
2:37 unto me and
2:40 drink he that believeth on me as the
2:44 scripture hath said out of his innermost
2:48 being shall flow rivers of Living
2:53 Water but this he spoke of the spirit
2:55 whom they that believe on him should
2:58 receive for the Holy Spirit was not yet
3:08 glorified we we never thought it would
3:10 happen but it's
3:13 happened our world today is facing a Water
3:16 Water
3:19 Crisis scientists tell us that there are some
3:20 some
3:25 326 cubic miles of water
3:27 available but when you stop to realize
3:31 that our world uses two trillion gallons
3:32 of water a
3:36 day here in the United States some 350
3:39 billion gallons a day you can understand what's
3:40 what's
3:44 happening pollution is robbing us of
3:47 water industry is requiring more water
3:50 population growth is demanding more
3:54 water and we may see the day when water
3:59 commodity now of course all of these
4:02 things have deeper spiritual
4:06 meanings Israel found herself very
4:08 thirsty in the wilderness
4:10 wanderings they had no sooner been
4:12 delivered from the land of Egypt when
4:14 they became
4:18 thirsty and this experience of the Jews
4:21 and Moses with The
4:24 Rock has some spiritual lessons for us
4:27 today on a much deeper
4:30 level because the greatest thir thirst
4:33 of all is not a thirst for
4:35 water the greatest thirst of all is a
4:37 thirst for
4:41 reality and that reality is found in
4:44 God so can we lift from this Old Testament
4:46 Testament
4:50 experience four basic truths that you
4:55 and I need if our lives are going to
4:57 mean anything at
5:02 all truth number one all of us have
5:05 thirsts that need to be
5:07 satisfied now as you read the Old
5:09 Testament scriptures and the account of
5:12 the marching of
5:15 Israel you're looking into a
5:17 mirror we're not reading ancient history
5:21 and saying they they we are reading
5:27 contemporary history and we're saying I
5:29 I because the Jewish people went through
5:32 through experiences such as we go
5:34 through no sooner had they been
5:37 delivered on Passover night when the
5:40 Jews face the problem of the Egyptian
5:42 Army and they were afraid and we get
5:44 afraid there are people here today
5:47 perhaps at Moody Church who have fear in their
5:48 their
5:51 hearts then they became hungry and God
5:53 sent the Mana from Heaven to feed them
5:55 then they became thirsty and God gave
5:57 the water from the rock to quench their
6:00 thirst you see you and I are reading our
6:04 own story we're just like these Jewish
6:06 people now it comes as a shock to some
6:11 people to realize that God made us to
6:14 thirst there's nothing wrong with thirst
6:16 God didn't rebuke these people for being
6:19 thirsty God didn't Thunder From Heaven
6:21 and send lightning bolts and and open
6:24 the the Earth and swallow up the people
6:27 no when God made the first man he made
6:30 him with the need for
6:33 water and thirst is a good thing if you
6:34 didn't get thirsty you didn't you
6:37 wouldn't know that your body needs
6:39 fluid and if you didn't know your body
6:41 needed fluid you would soon
6:46 die God built into us a thirst for water
6:48 and God built into us a hunger for food
6:50 it's a good thing you get hungry some
6:52 people are always hungry but it's a good
6:54 thing when people are hungry because
6:58 hunger says to you send down some fuel
7:00 send down some fuel you can't keep
7:02 working without the
7:05 fuel there's nothing wrong with fear now
7:07 some fears are abnormal we call these
7:10 phobias but fear is a good thing because
7:12 when when an emergency comes and and you
7:15 get afraid it starts your your glands
7:17 working and extra power gets into your
7:19 bloodstream and you can do amazing
7:21 things when you're
7:24 afraid there's nothing wrong with a
7:25 desire for
7:28 Success God built it into us God didn't
7:30 build us to be fa failures God built
7:32 into us a desire for Success nothing
7:34 wrong with
7:36 love God said it's not good for man to
7:38 be alone and I'll make a help suitable
7:41 for him and so love is a good thing all
7:45 of these thirsts God has built into us
7:47 now someone says Pastor aren't these
7:49 things wrong
7:54 no nowhere does the bible condemn human
7:57 nature the Bible condemns Fallen nature
8:00 but not human nature nowhere does the
8:02 word of God say it's wrong to be hungry
8:05 it's wrong to be thirsty it's wrong to
8:06 have a desire for
8:09 companionship what it does say is you
8:13 have a fallen nature and if your Fallen
8:16 nature gets a hold of these desires then
8:18 you're going to have
8:21 trouble all of us have thirsts that need
8:22 to be
8:25 satisfied and these thirsts are built
8:28 into us God created us this
8:31 way when Jesus Christ became a
8:33 man he
8:35 thirsted he
8:43 tired the Apostle Paul says we have this
8:46 treasure in earn vessels I think one
8:48 problem many Christians face is they
8:50 forget that they are earn vessels they
8:52 think they're made of
8:56 steel all of us have thirsts that need
8:58 to be satisfied I'm speaking right now
9:00 to some people
9:03 who have some thirsts that have not been
9:05 satisfied and that leads us to the
9:07 second truth that we learn from this
9:10 event all of us have thirsts that need
9:11 to be
9:14 satisfied truth number two we cannot
9:18 fully satisfy these thirsts
9:20 ourselves most of the problems in the
9:24 world today are caused by people who are
9:25 trying to
9:29 satisfy good Desires in bad ways
9:32 let's just illustrate this there's
9:33 certainly nothing wrong with a desire for
9:35 for
9:38 companionship people want to have
9:40 friends and people want to someday fall
9:43 in love and get married but there are
9:44 people today who who don't know the
9:48 difference between popularity and
9:50 character and there are people today who
9:51 think they're going to satisfy this
9:55 thirst down inside for friends and and
9:57 popularity they think they're going to
9:59 satisfy this by doing what the prodigal
10:02 son did prodigal son took his credit
10:04 cards and his money and he went off to
10:06 the far country and he he had a lot of
10:09 friends as long as the money was flowing
10:12 and the parties were being held he had a
10:14 lot of friends and then as soon as he
10:16 was broke he lost his
10:18 friends he didn't know the difference
10:20 between popularity and success he didn't
10:22 know the difference between reputation
10:25 and character and I'm speaking to some
10:27 people right now who are trying to
10:31 satisfy good thirsts with cheap
10:33 means I don't think we offend anybody if
10:36 we talk about this matter of the ego God
10:39 doesn't want to deflate the ego God
10:41 doesn't want us to become non-
10:44 entities Paul doesn't
10:47 say I can do all things by myself he
10:49 says I can do all things through
10:53 Christ but he does not negate the eye
10:55 God had to use Paul to get some things
10:59 done you see what's wrong is a person in
11:03 ating his ego the wrong way if I use you
11:06 to make me look good and big that's
11:10 wrong it's dead wrong if a father and a
11:13 mother use their children to make them
11:15 look great this is
11:20 wrong it's satisfying a normal thirst in
11:22 an abnormal
11:25 way this is why as you drive up and down
11:27 some of the streets of Chicago you hang
11:30 your head in shame as you see the
11:33 pornography spilling over all around
11:35 us the sewage is no longer in the
11:37 streets it's in the
11:40 shops now what is pornography is there
11:43 anything wrong with the Deep desire for
11:45 love that God has put into a human body
11:48 of course not God made man and God made
11:52 woman and God did not negate sex and God
11:55 did not close his eyes and say dirty
11:58 dirty he provided normal ways for this
12:02 to be expressed he says there's a thirst
12:04 down inside and here is the way it can
12:07 be satisfied but what if people done
12:08 well they've tried to satisfy this
12:11 thirst in in the wrong way and
12:14 consequently we have the the awful
12:16 things that are going on today is there
12:19 anything wrong with possessions no God
12:22 gives us richly all things to enjoy
12:24 Jesus says your heavenly father knows
12:26 you have need of these things God knows
12:28 what we need then what's wrong that
12:31 thirst for possession can drive a person
12:35 to covetousness and lying and stealing
12:38 and murdering and
12:41 Waring after all what is war war on the
12:44 international scale is no different from
12:45 two little neighbor kids fighting over the
12:47 the
12:50 sandbox the same basic
12:54 problem God has uh given to us certain
12:56 desires all of us have thirsts that need
12:59 to be satisfied
13:01 but we cannot fully satisfy these thirsts
13:03 thirsts
13:05 ourselves now if there's one book in the
13:08 Bible that spells this out in detail
13:10 it's the Book of
13:13 Ecclesiastes Solomon you know gave to us
13:17 the Proverbs the wisdom of God and he
13:20 gave us the Song of Solomon the love of
13:23 God but in Ecclesiastes the holy spirit
13:26 of God used Solomon as a
13:29 philosopher and he looks at life from a
13:32 human point of view the key phrase in
13:36 Ecclesiastes is Under the Sun I beheld
13:39 man Under the Sun what is life Under the
13:41 Sun now you and I do not live our lives
13:44 under the sun we are seated in the
13:46 heavenlies with Jesus Christ we have a
13:49 Heavenly perspective to our lives but
13:51 when you read Ecclesiastes you find that
13:52 he tries
13:55 everything he builds great buildings and
13:57 he plants beautiful gardens but he's not
14:00 satisfied and he studies philosophy but
14:03 he's not satisfied and he gathers
14:06 together wealth Untold but he's not
14:09 satisfied in fact um look at
14:11 Ecclesiastes you have your Bibles before
14:17 you chapter 1 verse 8 he sounds the note
14:22 immediately all things are full of Labor
14:27 man cannot utter it the eye is not
14:31 satisfied with seeing nor the ear filled
14:34 with hearing isn't that interesting
14:37 Solomon who was the richest man and the
14:41 wisest man and when he scanned his great
14:43 Kingdom and when he sat down and took
14:46 inventory of all that he possessed he
14:49 said my eyes aren't satisfied my ears aren't
14:51 aren't
14:54 satisfied when you get over to chapter 4 of
14:55 of
14:57 Ecclesiastes that same word comes back
15:00 into the vocabulary
15:04 verse 7 then I returned and saw vanity
15:06 emptiness Under the
15:11 Sun there is one alone and there is not a
15:11 a
15:15 second y he hath neither child nor
15:18 brother yet is there no end of all his
15:23 labor neither is his eye satisfied with
15:27 riches neither saith he for whom do I
15:30 labor and beve my soul full of good this
15:34 is also vanity y it is heavy travail why
15:36 go into all of this labor I'm going to
15:38 leave who's going to get it of course he
15:40 doesn't talk about sending it on ahead
15:42 investing it in eternity but he makes
15:45 his point here the eye is not satisfied with
15:46 with
15:49 riches over in chapter 5:
15:52 10 he that loveth silver shall not be
15:55 satisfied with silver nor he that loveth
15:58 abundance with increase this also is
16:00 Vanity Jesus preached a sermon on that
16:04 text one day he said uh that a man's
16:07 life is not measured by the abundance of
16:09 the things that he possesses and so how
16:12 are people trying to satisfy this thirst with
16:13 with
16:15 things and with
16:19 Thrills with all of the artificial
16:24 achievements of a vanity filled
16:26 Society we've learned two
16:30 truths all of us have third firsts that
16:32 need to be
16:37 satisfied we cannot fully satisfy them
16:39 ourselves tragedy is people are trying
16:42 to satisfy their thirst with
16:44 substitutes which leads us to truth number
16:51 three Jesus Christ
16:55 Alone can fully satisfy
16:57 us now the picture here is a picture of
17:00 our Lord Jesus Christ Christ Paul tells
17:03 us this over in 1 Corinthians chap 10 he
17:05 he takes us through the experiences of
17:08 Israel they all went through the sea
17:10 they all were under the cloud they all
17:13 ate the spiritual food they all drank
17:16 that spiritual drink from the Rock and
17:18 that rock was
17:21 Christ it's an Old Testament picture of
17:23 a new testament truth that rock was
17:26 Christ you see what Moses is telling us
17:29 and what Jesus is telling us and what
17:32 Paul is telling us is this the basic
17:36 thirst down inside is a thirst for
17:38 God now at this point someone says well
17:40 Pastor you're getting very mystical no
17:42 I'm getting very
17:45 practical would you pay the bill of a
17:48 doctor who dealt only with the symptoms
17:50 and not with the
17:52 causes let's suppose you go to the
17:54 doctor and you have a rash on your hands
17:56 and on your arms terrible
17:59 rash my he said that looks very very
18:01 ugly I think it's being caused by an
18:03 infection in your blood but what I'll do
18:05 I have some Cosmetics here and we'll
18:07 just cover that rash over with these
18:09 beautiful cosmetics and you'll be all
18:10 right oh no you won't you'll be worse
18:13 off you see a doctor doesn't want to
18:15 deal simply simply with symptoms he
18:18 wants to deal with causes and so he
18:20 looks at you and he says my you've got
18:22 an infection in your blood and I have
18:24 some medicine here and he gets his
18:28 needle and he injects his serum and the
18:31 the miracle drug goes to work and the
18:38 up the problem people are facing today
18:39 is that they are living on substitutes
18:42 they have a thirst down inside a thirst
18:46 for for power a thirst for achievement a
18:48 thirst for love a thirst for
18:52 companionship a thirst for success and
18:55 basically it's a thirst for God because
18:57 when you find God you have all of these
18:59 things that's what the psalmist meant
19:05 when he said in Psalm 42 my soul thirth
19:10 after God As the deer panteth for those
19:13 wonderful water Brooks that are so clear
19:17 and so refreshing so my soul panteth for
19:24 God one day our lord Jesus was at a
19:27 well in
19:30 Samaria and he was all alone because his
19:32 disciples had gone to buy some
19:35 food and a woman came to that well to
19:38 get some water she was
19:40 thirsty but she was thirsting for
19:42 something far deeper than the water of the
19:43 the
19:47 well because she had been Galloping her
19:49 way through a number of marriages and
19:51 the man she was now living with was not
19:53 her husband you said there's a thirst
19:55 down inside and she thought she was
19:58 going to satisfy this Thirst by trying
20:01 this trying that and making this change
20:04 and plunging into that sin and Jesus
20:06 looked at her and said you know The
20:08 Thirst that you really have is a thirst
20:09 for Living
20:12 Water you've been drinking at the dead
20:15 polluted ssts of this world he said I
20:19 can give you living water and he did and
20:20 she drank of that living water and
20:22 became a new
20:25 woman Jesus told the story about a man
20:27 who was a wealthy man nothing wrong with
20:30 wealth as long as is you possess it and
20:33 it doesn't possess you and this man had
20:35 a beggar right outside of his door and
20:37 the beggar would like to have eaten some
20:39 of the crumbs that fell from that rich
20:42 man's table but the rich man didn't care
20:44 for him all he cared for was his riches
20:47 and the Bible tells us that the rich man
20:51 died and in hell he woke up and though
20:54 he was poor in
20:58 hell he was still thirsty he cried out
21:00 and said please send somebody to bring
21:03 some water because I'm
21:06 thirsting ah but he'd been thirsting in
21:08 life my friend if you thirst in this
21:11 world and don't find your satisfaction
21:14 in Christ you'll thirst in the next
21:17 World hell is filled with people who are
21:18 saying I
21:21 thirst I'm thirsting for power and I'll
21:23 never get it I'm thirsting for for love
21:31 the only real satisfaction we're going
21:34 to find is in Jesus Christ Jesus Christ
21:38 Alone can satisfy our thirst Now isn't
21:41 it strange that Paul says Jesus Christ
21:43 is a
21:45 rock if I called you a rock you might be
21:48 a little bit offended but not among Old
21:51 Testament Jews see one of the great
21:54 names for God in the Old Testament he is our
21:56 our
22:01 Rock God is our refuge in our strength
22:03 he's the shadow of a great rock in a
22:07 weary land when you talk about a rock to
22:08 an Old Testament Jew you're talking
22:12 about that which is stable and solid and
22:14 eternal see the Jewish people didn't
22:16 like the water that is the sea they
22:18 they're not Mariners when you read about
22:20 the sea in the Old Testament the Jews
22:22 aren't too happy about the sea but oh
22:23 they like to get their feet on a
22:27 rock I will lift up mine eyes Under The
22:30 Hills under the Mountains from whence
22:33 cometh my help you see God is The Rock
22:35 and so when Paul says that rock is
22:36 Christ you know what he's saying Jesus Is
22:38 Is
22:41 God that's a quite a drastic statement
22:44 to make Jesus Is God and because Jesus
22:48 is God he is able to satisfy our needs
22:50 and because he became man he knows what
22:52 our needs
22:55 are somebody here today says oh that
22:57 preacher up in that Pulpit doesn't even
22:58 know what I'm going through but Jesus
23:00 Jesus knows what you're going through
23:03 and he's the
23:06 rock now Jesus is The Rock and the water
23:08 that came out of that rock is the holy
23:10 spirit it's a picture of the Holy Spirit
23:13 Jesus said that Jesus stood up at the
23:16 last day of that Feast for for seven
23:19 days they had gone down to the to the
23:21 pool and they had brought water in a
23:23 golden vessel they'd brought the water
23:26 back to the temple they' poured it out
23:28 it was a a remembrance of God God
23:31 providing water in the wilderness for
23:32 the Jewish
23:34 people when the ceremony was all
23:36 finished and the water had been poured
23:39 out Jesus stood up and faced that crowd
23:42 in the temple and he cried out Jesus
23:45 rarely cried out most of his ministry
23:48 was very quiet and very simple but he
23:51 cried out and said If any man thirst let
23:53 him come unto me and drink as the
23:56 scripture has said out of his out of the
23:59 messiah's out of the Lord Jesus
24:01 innermost being shall flow rivers of
24:03 Living Water and when you drink of this
24:06 River of water it begins to flow through
24:08 you and John adds that little
24:13 explanatory parenthesis this spake he of
24:16 the spirit you know my friend everything
24:19 the world is offering you is a
24:21 substitute for what the Holy Spirit can
24:26 you our nation is greatly concerned and
24:28 rightly so about the problem of n
24:30 narcotics it's an awful thing when a
24:35 teenager blows his mind with some
24:37 dope but we have had a Narcotics problem
24:39 with us for years that no one seems to
24:43 be weeping over it's the alcohol
24:45 problem that's just as much a narcotic
24:47 as anything else you know what the Bible
24:51 says about alcohol be not drunk with
24:54 wine but be filled with the spirit the
24:59 holy spirit of God is all that we need
25:00 you say well I need my alcohol no you
25:03 don't you need the Holy
25:05 Spirit the holy spirit of God is that
25:08 refreshing water that came from that
25:10 rock and here were thirsty people and
25:12 they had a right to be thirsty they were
25:14 human but they were looking to some
25:17 wrong way of satisfying their thirst
25:18 they were going to Stone Moses that
25:24 helped and Moses took that Rod that was
25:26 the rod that he smot the Nile River with
25:28 and it turned to blood it was a rod of
25:32 judgment Moses the lawgiver took the rod
25:34 of judgment and he smote The
25:37 Rock oh my friend do you know what he was
25:38 was
25:41 picturing all those people didn't see it
25:42 but Heaven saw
25:46 it and as Moses stepped up and smoked that
25:48 that
25:51 rock God the son turned to God the
25:53 father and said one day that will happen to
25:58 me one day they will take me and nail me
25:59 to a
26:03 cross and I will be smitten with the rod of
26:09 judgment they will Smite the shepherd
26:12 they will Smite The Rock and Jesus
26:15 Christ went to the cross and died for
26:18 you and died for me that he might be
26:21 able to forgive us that's the negative
26:23 and that he might be able to give to us
26:26 the Holy Spirit and when The Rock was
26:28 smitten out came the water and when
26:31 Jesus died and went back to Heaven down
26:34 came the rivers of the Holy Spirit and I
26:38 say it again every thirst you have in
26:43 your human anatomy or your inner man is
26:45 Satisfied by Jesus Christ through the Holy
26:47 Holy
26:49 Spirit that's why we Christians look with
26:55 disdain upon the cheap substitutes of this
26:56 this
26:59 world we have something better
27:02 Banner we have tasted of the Living
27:05 Water we have drunk deeply of the Living
27:09 Water that Jesus died to
27:11 provide and so we've learned three
27:15 truths all of us have thirsts that need
27:16 to be
27:21 satisfied we cannot fully satisfy them
27:26 ourselves Jesus Christ Alone can fully
27:29 satisfy which leads us to our final
27:33 truth to be
27:35 satisfied you have to
27:38 drink oh you say Pastor tell me
27:42 something hard to do no something easy
27:47 drink here we are two million Israelites
27:49 thirsting I can just see mothers picking
27:51 up their little children and saying we
27:54 don't have any water but Moses will do
27:57 something and Moses smites The Rock and
27:59 the rivers the psalmist tells us the
28:02 water gushed out not like some of the
28:05 drinking fountains you see in public
28:08 buildings or you have to get a cotton
28:11 swab to get a drink out of the
28:14 thing the water gushed out in other
28:18 words when God provides the Holy
28:22 Spirit when God provides the Holy Spirit
28:29 dropper the rivers of water are
28:32 available and here are two million Jews
28:34 and the water was available and the
28:36 water was adequate and the water was
28:39 free and the water was right there for
28:42 them to drink anybody who died of thirst
28:44 died at his own
28:48 hand and anybody hearing my voice
28:51 today who dies of spiritual thirst and
28:59 thirst You're Dying by your own hand
29:02 oh my friend to be
29:04 satisfied you must
29:08 drink now I traced this whole theme
29:10 through the
29:12 scriptures the first time they were
29:15 thirsty Moses smoked the Rock and the
29:18 water came out a picture of Calvary the
29:21 second time they were thirsty Numbers Chapter
29:22 Chapter
29:26 20 God said to Moses speak to the Rock
29:28 You See Jesus doesn't die over and over
29:31 again Moses didn't speak to the Rock he
29:33 lost his temper and smokee The Rock
29:35 again he ruined the whole picture and as
29:37 a consequence didn't glorify God and as
29:39 a consequence lost his inheritance in
29:40 the Canaan
29:42 land But first you smite The Rock that's
29:45 the death of Christ and you drink of the
29:48 water and you're
29:50 saved and then the next day you say oh
29:52 I'm still thirsty and you just come and
29:54 you speak to the Rock and the water
29:57 comes out and God provides what you need
29:58 you see we Christ Christians don't have
30:00 to run Helter Skelter looking for
30:04 satisfaction we just speak to the Rock
30:06 but in the next chapter Numbers chapter
30:10 21 they dug a well they moved along the
30:12 rock didn't chase them around but the
30:15 water did wherever the nation of Israel
30:17 went the water was available and
30:20 the the princes of Israel dug down
30:24 numbers 21 they sang a song spring up oh
30:27 well isn't that wonderful that God just
30:29 sent the water wherever they were but
30:30 there's something even more wonderful
30:33 than that you speak to the rock you
30:35 smite The Rock You Dig the well when you
30:38 get to the Gospel of John CH 4 God God
30:40 says look you don't have to dig any
30:43 Wells I'll put the well down inside of
30:45 you that's the wonderful thing about
30:48 being saved Jesus said to her oh if you
30:50 knew the gift of God and who's talking
30:52 to you you would ask of him and he'd
30:55 give you living water the water that God
30:58 gives you is a well of water an AR well
31:01 of water springing up is this not true
31:04 have you not discovered that down inside
31:06 the heart of the believer is this
31:09 springing Living Water that
31:12 satisfies and then in John chapter 7
31:14 that well of water becomes a river of
31:16 water we don't just drink it ourselves
31:18 we share it with other people because they're
31:20 they're
31:23 thirsty in order to be satisfied my
31:25 friend you have to drink you know why
31:31 they don't want to get
31:34 down in order to drink they had to get
31:36 down had to Humble
31:38 themselves there's some of you listening
31:40 to me now you say oh I'd love to have
31:42 that living water but I want to get
31:44 saved my way you won't get saved your
31:47 way you'll get saved God's way there is
31:49 no difference all have sinned and come
31:51 short of the glory of God and the only
31:54 way to have this inward satisfaction is
32:01 that's what it means to be saved that's
32:03 why Isaiah the prophet looked out upon
32:06 his people and he saidh why are you
32:07 spending your money for that which is
32:10 not bread why are you wasting your time
32:13 on that which doesn't satisfy oh
32:15 everyone that thirsteth Come Ye to the
32:18 waters come and drink without money and without
32:24 price there's no price to be paid for
32:27 you to be saved it's already been paid
32:28 Jesus Paid at
32:31 all that's why the last invitation in
32:33 the Bible is something like this and the
32:36 spirit and the bride say
32:39 come and let him that heareth say
32:43 come and whosoever will let him take of
32:45 the Water of Life
32:47 freely you see at the very end of the
32:49 Bible God is saying you're thirsty
32:53 you're thirsty come and drink come and
32:55 drink and I'll
32:57 satisfy now I'll guarantee that if if
33:02 you keep drinking at the dirty cesspools
33:05 of sin you'll never be
33:07 satisfied there is the pleasure of sin
33:11 for a season that leads to the pain of
33:12 sin for
33:15 eternity but oh if you'll come to The
33:18 Living Waters that flow from the Rock of
33:20 Ages cleft for
33:29 satisfied you and I have thirsts
33:31 that must be
33:35 satisfied God wants you to enjoy the
33:39 blessings of life and of eternal
33:49 yourself If you deny them you'll become a
33:51 a
33:54 machine if you live only for them you'll
33:56 become an
33:59 animal God want you to be a man and be his
34:00 his
34:03 child all of us have thirst that need to
34:06 be satisfied we cannot fully satisfy
34:08 them ourselves only Jesus Christ can
34:10 fully satisfy them but if you want to be
34:13 satisfied you have to
34:16 drink and that's why we invite you to
34:19 come now and give your heart to Jesus
34:22 Christ and drink and discover how
34:26 refreshing and wonderful it
34:32 we come our
34:35 father with deep
34:38 appreciation for the price that Jesus
34:42 Paid to satisfy the longings of our
34:45 hearts we're thankful that in him we have
34:46 have
34:49 reality we don't have to have that which is
34:51 is
34:54 artificial we have that which is
34:56 eternal we're sorry Lord when we have
35:00 tried to find satisfaction in
35:03 sin we're glad we have found
35:06 satisfaction in Christ now for those who
35:08 have never drunk we
35:11 pray may they come
35:13 today and
35:17 stoop and humble themselves and drink of
35:20 that living water that flows from
35:23 Calvary this we pray with Thanksgiving
35:25 in jesus'
