0:01 Welcome back everybody to another
0:04 episode of our weekly Moto news roundup
0:05 where this time around we'll be looking
0:09 at new bikes from MV, KTM, and BMW.
0:11 There's spy shots of a new KTM
0:13 middleweight as well, a bargain big
0:15 adventurer from Moto Marini, and rumors
0:18 of a new Mfield Scrambler for 2027. Then
0:21 we've got awards for Suzuki. We've got
0:24 new bikes from ZedX Moto, Itaria, a back
0:27 and CF Moto's new miniike looks
0:29 incredible. Then we've got a rare gem of
0:32 a classic, a record-breaking auction,
0:34 and also a look at Jucati's new approach
0:36 to maintenance schedules, which looks
0:38 like a little bit of genius. But before
0:40 we get underway, a massive thanks to
0:42 Breakfree for supporting our news
0:44 content. And if you do like the look of
0:45 this product, then check out the links
0:47 in the description below where you can
0:49 find out more. So, let's kick off with
0:51 some new bikes. And first up, we've got
0:54 the Carbonia Nero version of um MV
0:56 Augusta's Brutali 800, which was
0:59 introduced just this week. It comes off
1:01 the back of MV Augusta changing their
1:03 pricing strategy a little bit lately to
1:06 pull it down and pull it in line more so
1:08 with the mainstream bikes. Take for
1:11 example the Brutali 800 coming in now in
1:14 the UK at £11,500
1:16 and that's down from over 15 grand last
1:19 time out. So, it really is a significant
1:21 repositioning. To do that, naturally,
1:24 the the standard bike is relatively
1:26 simple in its finish with it being
1:28 largely blacked out with a matte red
1:30 paint job that still, you know, looks
1:32 good, but it's not the most fancy MV
1:34 you'll ever see. Maybe this one though
1:36 offers a little bit of a middle ground
1:39 with this carbon black version available
1:41 now. And you'd say on the whole, it is
1:43 still pretty stealthy, but the red
1:45 wheels, the trellis frame as well do add
1:47 a bit of sportiness. and dare I say a
1:50 little bit of Jucati monster about it,
1:52 which I mean in the best way. So yeah, a
1:54 little more eye-catching perhaps than
1:57 the standard bike. Um, no exact UK
1:59 pricing on this one as of yet, but for
2:02 Italy it's um €500 on top of the
2:04 standard bike, so I'd probably expect
2:07 for this one about 12 grand. Over at KTM
2:09 though, while they're operating at the
2:11 other end of the pricing spectrum with
2:14 the reintroduction of their 450 Rally
2:16 replica, which is about as close as you
2:18 can get to owning your very own Dhakar
2:21 bike. Just 100 will be made with their
2:24 punchy 450 single. It's got rally
2:26 specific gearing and a Cropovich
2:28 exhaust, fully customizable WP Pro
2:32 suspension, CNC triples, a triple fuel
2:35 tank as well with almost 35 L of
2:38 capacity, a carbon navigation tower,
2:41 race ready bodywork, and that's amongst
2:43 many, many other changes. The price on
2:47 this one though, just over £33,000 for
2:48 the standard bike of which there'll be
2:51 100, but also they're making a Luchiano
2:54 Benvida's factory edition and that one
2:57 will be over £42,000.
2:59 Meanwhile, in South Africa, BMW have
3:01 just announced a couple of very tasty
3:04 looking special editions of both the
3:08 S000RR sports bike and its superpecr
3:11 sibling. These are called the M2
3:13 editions, referencing of course the um
3:16 BMW car of the same name. And both of
3:18 them get a black paint job, red accents,
3:21 a tinted windscreen, an embossed M logo
3:23 in the seat, and also some graphics on
3:24 the wheels. I believe there's an
3:27 Acropovich exhaust accessory available,
3:31 too. Now, the S model is 400,000 rand,
3:34 so that's about 18 grand. The M almost
3:38 900,000 rand, which is closer to 38. So,
3:41 similar in price to the standard nonM2
3:43 models, uh, but maybe just a little bit
3:45 on top. On the flip side, though,
3:47 they've also done an RR model of the
3:50 car. So, it's the M2 coupe RR edition
3:53 again with black paint, red springs, 20
3:56 mil lower as well, performance wheels,
3:57 uh, splitters and spoilers with red
4:00 accents, and, uh, a specially customized
4:02 Acropovich system for this particular
4:05 car. not massively a car guy. Uh but
4:08 that one and the bikes together that
4:10 would make for a pretty nice garage
4:13 setup. But anyway, back to KTM and we've
4:15 got more spy shots this week, but this
4:17 time appearing to show a new
4:19 middleweight Juke Naked. Now, my source
4:21 for these shots is calling it either a
4:24 490 or a 590. and their understanding is
4:27 that it won't replace the 390 Juke
4:29 single, but more so bridge the gap
4:32 between that bike and the 790 Juke by
4:35 coming in between sort of 55 and 75
4:37 horsepower. And it's a good point as
4:39 well. It's a massive step between the
4:42 390 which makes around 40 horses and the
4:46 790 which makes 95 horsepower. And so I
4:48 do agree that something around 60 or 70
4:50 would sit nicely in the middle and also
4:53 fill the gap that's left by the 690 Juke
4:56 single. Although this one is expected,
4:58 as you can see in the shots, uh to be a
5:00 parallel twin, I think the running gear
5:02 is pretty much as you'd expect with this
5:04 one as well, their in-house WP
5:05 suspension and brakes. Uh you can
5:07 probably take a good guess at how it
5:09 might look as well in the end, despite
5:11 the fairly uh rough looking test mule.
5:13 But I'd love to know what you think on
5:16 this one. Is 70 horsepower a bit of a
5:17 sweet spot, or is this another
5:20 unnecessary step in the KTM ladder,
5:22 which already has plenty of nakeds? Let
5:23 me know what you think down in the
5:26 comments. A couple of years back at Ike
5:28 in Milan, we saw the new Moto Marini
5:30 Xcape 1200, and I've got to say, it
5:33 looked really impressive on the stand.
5:35 Uh, but since then, we've not heard too
5:38 much. It turns out though, it has just
5:39 been announced as being available here
5:42 in the UK for 2026. And so while the
5:45 initial buzz might have died off a bit,
5:47 well, all the same, it is an interesting
5:49 looking bike owing, I guess, to the
5:51 Italian design, but also being
5:53 Chinese-made, it looks like pretty good
5:55 value for money as well. Now, at the
5:58 heart of it, we've got an 1187cc
6:01 87° V twin, which is good for 129
6:04 horsepower at 8,750
6:07 RPM and 106 new m of peak torque at
6:10 7,000. So, plenty of pulling power for
6:12 some loaded up adventure touring. And
6:14 there's also a good level of spec on the
6:16 chassis as well. You've got KYB
6:19 suspension with 180 mil of travel at
6:22 both ends. Brembo braking, a 19-in front
6:24 and a 17 at the rear. Both of them
6:26 tubeless and spoked and shot with
6:29 Pirelli's excellent Scorpion Trail
6:31 tires. Tech is fully fledged, too.
6:33 You've got a TFT dash, cornering rider
6:37 aids, TPMS, a dash cam connectivity, a
6:39 rear-facing blind spot radar, and then
6:42 cruise control, heated grips, heated
6:44 seats, both front and rear. And so,
6:47 you've got to say at £11,299
6:49 plus on the road fees. Well, it doesn't
6:51 look bad at all, especially considering
6:53 you can get three-piece aluminium
6:56 luggage for another £499 on top. So,
6:58 that would be a fully loaded adventure
7:01 bike for under 12 grand. There is, I
7:03 think, a catch though with these, you
7:05 know, very affordable Chinese adventure
7:07 bikes, especially the large capacity
7:09 ones, and I think that's the weight.
7:13 This one comes in at a pretty hefty 259
7:16 kg dry. As you'd imagine, with all the
7:18 fluid on board, plus the generous 24 1/2
7:21 L tank fully fueled up, well, you must
7:25 be looking at closer to 280 kg, which
7:28 isn't insignificant, and also 840 mil in
7:30 the seat. It's not tall, but I think
7:31 that's a lot of weight for a lot of
7:33 people at that height. All the same, I
7:35 think at that price, a lot of people
7:37 might be willing to overlook that,
7:38 especially if they're used to heavier
7:41 bikes or they're a tall rider. And so,
7:43 if you do want a little bit of Italian
7:45 swishness, but maybe at a more
7:47 accessible price point than your average
7:49 full capacity adventure bike, then it
7:51 could well be worth a spin, this one.
7:53 Meanwhile, we've got rumors that Royal
7:56 Enfield is set to launch a new 450
7:59 Scrambler in 2027 with Visor reporting
8:01 on this one and also plenty of similar
8:04 reports from Indian outlets. Now, the
8:06 idea is to find a bit of a halfway house
8:09 I think between the existing 450s which
8:11 are the Gorilla Naked, so a little bit
8:13 flat tracker inspired but fairly low
8:16 slung uh and then the 450 Himalayan
8:19 adventure bike with the liquid cooled
8:21 single. 450. I think it would also make
8:24 a great direct competitor for Triumph's
8:26 Scrambler 400. It will make similar
8:27 performance figures, probably a
8:29 similarish price, too. And I got to say,
8:32 it could run it close on looks as well
8:35 if Bike Deco's mocked up speculative
8:38 renders uh, you know, at all accurate. I
8:39 really like what they've done here.
8:41 Hopefully Enfield are working along
8:44 similar lines and I certainly think a
8:46 very cool looking mid-capacity scrambler
8:48 like that could help it to shift a few
8:52 units. Now they say it's slated for 2027
8:53 so could be one to keep your eyes peeled
8:56 for in the autumn at Ikema. Anyway, time
8:58 for comment of the week where each week
9:00 I'll pick my favorite comment from the
9:03 last episode and then at the end of the
9:05 month I will pick out my winner of the
9:07 month who will get a break free unit of
9:09 their choice. Last week, well, the
9:10 running theme for a lot of the comments
9:13 was the Brabbus electric bike, which I
9:14 don't think really hit the mark with
9:16 your average motorcyclist. There wasn't
9:18 a lot of love for that one, but there
9:20 was quite a bit of appreciation for the
9:24 new Gorilla Apex 450 from Royal Enfield
9:26 with flatter street bias bars and also
9:30 some proper road tires. On this one, DAC
9:32 767 said, "Royal Enfield did the right
9:35 thing at last. First thing I did with my
9:38 Gorilla was fit lower bars and Metsler
9:41 M3s will go on soon. So, it sounds like
9:43 a bit of a winning formula from some
9:45 firsthand experience there. So, thanks
9:48 to DAC767 for sharing that. But yeah, it
9:50 is the end of the month or rather it's
9:51 the 1st of May, so it's the start of the
9:53 next month and so I better pick out a
9:57 winner. I think I'll go for Craig Steven
9:59 McDonald from last week who left this
10:01 comment about BMW's patent for a new
10:03 version of their C1 scooter, but this
10:05 time with six extra wheels that come
10:07 down to help you balance when you're at
10:10 a standstill. So, well done to Craig.
10:13 Drop us an email at inquiriesob.cc
10:15 and we'll sort you out with your prize.
10:17 Now, over to Suzuki with news that their
10:21 GSX 8 and TT Retros just won a red dot
10:23 design award in Germany. And it kind of
10:25 got me thinking this one actually. I
10:27 mean, it is a good-look bike. There is
10:29 something to be said for the design, but
10:31 I wouldn't say it's exactly
10:33 groundbreaking. And also, it's not a
10:35 bike that's sold particularly well, and
10:37 they also had to drop the price
10:39 recently, which I think goes to show
10:41 that sales are a little bit slow. Plus,
10:43 I have seen quite a few press releases
10:45 recently about these red dot awards.
10:48 Jucati with the Diavo V4, the Panagali
10:51 V4 as well in 2025. Honda on the NC
10:54 750X. I think an even more unremarkable
10:58 bike perhaps than the um Suzuki retros.
11:00 And so what is the deal here? Are they
11:01 just paying for something to talk about
11:04 or is there any merit in winning a Red
11:06 Dot Design Award? Well, I did a bit of
11:08 digging on the Red Dot Design Award
11:09 website and it turns out it's a little
11:12 of column A, a little of column B. It is
11:14 meant to be genuinely a, you know, an
11:17 award that you win by a judging panel,
11:20 but it also isn't free. To even register
11:22 and submit your product, you've got to
11:26 pay between €470 and €890.
11:28 But here's the big one. If you win, you
11:30 have to pay them to license their logo
11:33 and name to use in your press releases.
11:34 And depending on which package you
11:37 choose, that's between €4,900
11:40 and €12,800.
11:42 though. Look, congrats to Suzuki all the
11:44 same, Manta, Ducatti, and Honda before
11:47 that, but maybe those fees do soften the
11:49 achievement just a little bit. Anyway,
11:51 back to the bikes. And MCM report this
11:54 week that Chinese newcomers ZedX Moto
11:56 are about to land in the UK after
11:58 signing with a distributor. And they
12:00 sound like serious business as well,
12:02 these bikes. It's easy to write off
12:05 another new Chinese brand as just
12:07 lowriced and a little low performance
12:10 perhaps. But ZedX Motor have won
12:12 multiple rounds of the World Super Sport
12:14 Champs in 2026 with their three-cylinder 820R.
12:16 820R.
12:18 The bikes they're planning on launching
12:20 look pretty tasty as well, like the
12:24 500RR inline 4, which is said to make 83
12:28 horsepower at 13,500 RPM and yet weighs
12:30 in at just 168 kg curb. So, if you like
12:33 a little slender screamer, uh then
12:34 definitely keep your eyes peeled for
12:37 that one. And there's also a retro built
12:40 upon the same platform called the 500F.
12:42 I think it's possibly borrowed a little
12:44 bit too much from Honda in the looks
12:46 there. It looks a bit derivative, let's
12:48 say. But also, that 820 model is said to
12:50 be available at some point, too. And so,
12:52 we could have some very interesting new
12:54 options here, especially with a price
12:56 that is still expected to be fairly
12:59 accessible for those 500s around the
13:02 five or six grand mark. Also back in the
13:04 UK though recently we've got ItalJet or
13:07 ItalJet or ItalJet. Either way fair to
13:09 say they make some of the coolest
13:12 looking scooters ever made. Visor down
13:14 report that they've been absent from the
13:16 UK for 3 years now but are set to return
13:21 with their 125 300 459 and 700
13:24 Dragsters. The latter as well. The 700
13:26 Dragster looks like a proper beast with
13:29 a 69 horsepower parallel twin. Along
13:31 with the high-spec chassis running on
13:33 Brembo brakes, for example, and Marzaki
13:34 suspension, not the sort of stuff you
13:37 normally see on a scoot. On top of that,
13:39 there's also the Roadster 400, which is
13:42 similarly distinctive in the looks, but
13:44 it's got a little bit more of a retro
13:46 vibe about it, which I think leaves it
13:48 looking a touch steampunk, maybe. The
13:50 big change though is that all of these
13:53 bikes will be sold direct through Italet
13:57 or however you say ItalJet UK um with
13:59 bikes either delivered to you or
14:01 collected from their HQ in Nottingham.
14:04 So no dealer specifically. And if you
14:05 want to get your bike serviced under
14:07 warranty, well apparently you can do
14:10 that at any VAT registered workshop. So
14:12 interesting approach and I wouldn't be
14:14 surprised if we see more and more brands
14:15 starting to move down this route in
14:17 future. One bike that unfortunately
14:20 isn't available in the UK though, and I
14:22 really wish it was, is the CF Moto XO
14:26 Papio. A super cool little 125 mini bike
14:28 with a bit of a retro sports bike look
14:30 with the round headlights and the full
14:33 fairings. Now, maybe I'm a little bit
14:35 late to this one, but Weeback Japan just
14:37 posted some images of their new colors
14:40 for 2026, and I've got to say, they look
14:43 fantastic, especially this one in the
14:46 full CF Moto Racing trim. Now, they've
14:48 also made a few changes for 2026, like
14:50 the riding position. It's a little more
14:53 sat up and comfy. Um, but all the info
14:55 I've seen so far is just for the
14:58 Australian market, so tough luck for
14:59 everybody else. A couple of quick
15:01 classics to look at now though. This one
15:04 is from Japanese magazine Young Machine
15:08 who reported that this Yamaha XT500 was
15:11 found in a Paris motorcycle shop still
15:15 crated up, never used after 40 years. So
15:17 yeah, it's in immaculate condition of
15:19 course which must be a real rarity for
15:21 these now and it's due to go on auction
15:24 soon in Germany. Now, XTS are still
15:26 very, very popular. And so, especially
15:28 in this condition, they estimate
15:31 conservatively it'll fetch around 15 to€25,000.
15:33 to€25,000.
15:34 Uh, but to me, that sounds a little bit
15:36 on the low side for a cult bike like
15:38 this that's never been used. I guess
15:41 we'll find out soon, though. There was a
15:42 lot of buzz this week though for another
15:46 auction of a 500cc Grand Prix bike from
15:49 1965 that was said to have been raced by
15:52 either Hailwood Agustinini or both and
15:54 they're not quite sure but it's in the
15:56 season in ' 65 where they finished 1 and
15:58 two in the championship. It's an envy,
16:00 of course. You probably knew that
16:01 already from the paint. But yeah, the
16:03 headline figure is that the original
16:05 estimate at the bottom spring staffers
16:08 sale, a big classic sale here in the UK,
16:12 was £160,000 to 220, but it absolutely
16:14 smashed it with the winning big coming
16:20 >> We are selling all the way. Congratulations.
16:26 Rounding off today though, well, I saw
16:28 an interesting bit of new tech or a new
16:30 approach rather from Jucati and it's
16:32 called predictive maintenance. A feature
16:33 that they'll be offering up for their
16:36 Desmo 450 MX motocross bike. And the
16:38 idea is you hook the bike up to their
16:41 free software, the Xlink app, and it
16:43 will give you your maintenance due dates
16:46 in real time. Thing is though, those due
16:48 dates are actually generated and
16:51 adjusted by an algorithm and it's based
16:54 upon the intensity of the bike's usage.
16:55 So, of course, a lot of hard racing
16:57 would bring those service dates forward.
16:59 Um, but if you just bought the bike for
17:02 gentler leisure use, then I guess it
17:04 would push those intervals back a little
17:06 bit. Now, naturally, dirt bikes have
17:08 much shorter intervals than road bikes,
17:10 but it did have me thinking all the
17:11 same. Well, there's a lot different
17:14 about steady motorway miles as opposed
17:16 to charging around back roads or the
17:19 track. So, could this sort of idea ever
17:21 make it to street bikes or do you see it
17:23 as just another unnecessary complication
17:25 of motorcycleycling? Let me know what
17:26 you think down in the comments below
17:28 along with all of the other stories this
17:30 week. As always, hit subscribe for more
17:32 of the latest motorcycle news and
17:34 reviews right here on Moto Bob. A
17:36 massive thanks for watching today and
