0:03 hi there this is Bruno from Spang guru.
0:05 your portal and Community for Spanish
0:06 immigration and we're going to talk
0:09 about how Philippino Nationals can
0:12 obtain Spanish citizenship by residency
0:14 and make sure to stay until the end of
0:16 the video because I have made a couple
0:19 of slides with the main takeaways um
0:22 summarizing how they can do it but let's
0:24 go with the article first citizenship in
0:27 particular country may be obtained by a
0:29 variety of immigration routes such as
0:31 time marriage Family Ties Financial
0:33 investment and in particular cases
0:35 presidential nomination the most popular
0:37 is through time which requires that you
0:39 enter the nation legally and may be
0:41 eligible to apply for citizenship after
0:43 having lived in the country for a
0:45 specific number of years this
0:48 conventional route typically entails a
0:49 number of requirements including
0:52 residency requirements language tests
0:54 enough ties to the country and so on in
0:56 this article we will only discuss
0:59 acquiring Spanish citizenship via legal
1:01 residency in Spain that means we're not
1:03 going to talk about like if you marry a
1:07 Spanish National for example um so let's
1:10 go advantages of becoming a Spanish
1:13 citizen having Spanish citizenship has
1:15 many advantages Filipinos may be able to
1:18 travel freely within the shenen region
1:20 okay with are most of the European
1:22 countries their visas won't be dependent
1:25 on a job and they can apply on behalf of
1:26 members of their families in the
1:28 Philippines for residenc in Spain and
1:30 eventually citizens ship of course
1:33 holding a Spanish passport uh also gives
1:35 you the right to go to countries that
1:40 don't require visas uh for uh Spaniards
1:42 logically now how a Filipino can obtain
1:44 the Spanish citizenship Spain offers a
1:46 number of methods to become a citizen
1:48 but does not have an investment based
1:51 citizenship program you must first spend
1:54 some time physically in Spain before you
1:56 even consider seeking Spanish
1:58 citizenship since Filipinos cannot go to
2:00 Spain without a Visa obtaining a golden
2:03 Visa by making a specific real estate
2:06 investment is a plausible alternative
2:08 non-filipino Nationals must maintain a
2:10 valid residence permit such as golden
2:14 visa for at least 5 years after those
2:17 initial five years they will be able to
2:19 submit an application for permanent
2:21 residency they might be able to seek
2:23 Spanish citizenship after having the
2:25 mentioned permanent residency for
2:27 additional 5 years however and here's
2:29 the good thing if you're are Filipino
2:31 you can apply for citizenship more
2:33 quickly under article 22nd of the
2:36 Spanish Civil code which says and let's
2:38 go to the English version directly for
2:41 granting of Spanish nationality by rians
2:44 it is required that it have at lasted 10
2:46 years five years will be sufficient for
2:48 those who have obtained Refugee status
2:50 and two years in the case of Nationals
2:52 of origin from I American countries
2:56 Andor the Philippines equatorial guina
2:59 or Portugal or sephar the origin people
3:01 okay okay so this is the Spanish Civil
3:03 code one of the main
3:06 laws Filipinos should be aware of these
3:08 four things before applying for Spanish
3:10 citizenship number one there are a few
3:11 exceptions but after 10 years of legal
3:13 residence in Spain you can qualify for
3:16 Spanish citizenship I stated under
3:19 article 22.1 of the civil code Filipinos
3:21 can seek Spanish citizenship after just
3:23 two years of authorized residency in
3:26 Spain keep in mind that the two years of
3:28 residency must have been valid un
3:31 interrupted very important and
3:34 immediately proceeding the application
3:35 the potential tax consequences of living
3:37 in Spain for two years are something
3:40 else to consider that's another
3:44 story um and then uh we talk about other
3:46 uh people as we said if you're American
3:49 countries etc etc number two you must
3:51 succeed on a Spanish language exam
3:53 Filipino applicants must pass
3:55 standardized Spanish language test
3:56 including speaking reading and writing
3:58 of the common European framework of
4:02 reference for languages CFR level A2
4:05 which is not very high um lucky for for
4:08 you guys in addition to the 2-year
4:09 residency requirement the written
4:11 General certificate of secondary
4:15 education gcsc exam on Spanish History
4:18 Society and laws will also be required
4:20 uh for Filipino applicants number three
4:22 Filipino applicants May hold two
4:24 nationalities except for those who are
4:26 native born citizens of one of the
4:28 previously mentioned um sorry I missed
4:31 it there you go number
4:33 two um foreign National who acquire
4:36 Spanish citizenship must relinquish
4:39 their prior nationality and uh yeah
4:41 there you have a link to um um to an
4:45 article uh which speaks about obtaining
4:47 Spanish citizenship with dual
4:49 nationality in
4:51 2023 this implies that Filipino
4:53 Nationals are permitted to hold dual
4:55 dual citizenship with Spain to get
4:58 Spanish citizenship a Filipino person
4:59 must renounce all previous citizens
5:02 ships they may have other than Filipino
5:05 and Spanish number four take into
5:06 account the golden visa and we're going
5:08 to go a little bit more in detail with
5:10 this there are other ways to get a
5:11 residency Visa such as getting married
5:13 to a Spanish person having a job offer
5:15 in Spain that qualifies the candidate
5:17 for both a work permit and a residence
5:20 visa Etc the most straightforward option
5:22 for individuals with enough money and
5:25 this is very important enough money is
5:26 to apply for a Spain golden Visa based
5:28 on an investment in real estate of at
5:30 least 500,000
5:32 of course you need to have enough money
5:34 to buy your way into this route which
5:35 will grant you the legal residency
5:38 permit to qualify to potentially obtain
5:41 the Spanish citizenship afterwards how
5:43 long will the process be normally it can
5:45 take two to three years from the time
5:46 your citizenship application is
5:49 submitted for consideration contrary to
5:51 other proceedings your application may
5:54 be deemed refused or denied due to the
5:56 administrative inaction or so-called
5:59 silencio administrativo if no action has
6:02 been taken on it within 12 months after
6:04 filing in such cases it would be it
6:06 would make sense to have your appeal
6:08 ready for
6:10 submission now requir documents for
6:13 citizenship application valid passport
6:15 and ni which is the numero the
6:18 identification you have links to what
6:20 that is in the article and in the video
6:24 description below next current proof of
6:25 residency you must have been staying
6:27 legally in Spain for the two years this
6:29 excludes the time you were here on tour
6:31 or student visa as we've mentioned
6:33 before the state must have been
6:35 continuous and unbroken for the two
6:37 years just before your application and
6:40 here I get questions uh for from uh many
6:42 people who said like whoa I cannot go
6:45 for for holidays um you know for um in
6:49 these two years and um you know as for
6:52 uh the research that I made you could be
6:53 denied you could be denied your
6:57 citizenship if um they they have this um
6:59 if they find out that you left uh for
7:02 sometime it is not clear anywhere for
7:05 how long you could leave uh but it could
7:08 be used as a reason to denial all right
7:10 so be careful with that then again um
7:13 let's continue birth registration uh
7:14 certificate background check it is
7:17 crucial that you have no criminal
7:19 history the local certificate you
7:20 receive after registering at your town
7:22 hall of residents is called padron and
7:24 they will need a
7:26 certific and it comes in both current
7:29 and pre forms de Spanish diploma level
7:32 A2 certificate Language exam that you
7:35 must pass as we mentioned before and the
7:44 test uh a certification that states that
7:46 you have passed this exam then your
7:48 children birth certificates if you have
7:50 children you want to apply for uh if you
7:53 want to seek their citizenship by option
7:56 then approve of payment of $100
7:59 application cost uh this cost may vary
8:03 year to year uh so as for 2022 this is
8:05 the cost prove that you have the
8:08 necessary Financial Resources all right
8:11 and please notice and be reminded that
8:12 this article is no legal advice and it's
8:14 based on internet research only if you
8:17 need expert immigration advice Spang
8:18 Guru strongly suggest that you arrange a
8:20 consultation with our recommended
8:22 lawyers you can find a link or you can
8:25 go to Spang guru. yes and come here now
8:27 let's go to the main takeaways of where
8:31 I just read okay so Spanish citizenship
8:33 for Filipino Nationals in
8:36 2023 uh the article explores obtaining
8:38 citizenship via legal residency in Spain
8:40 there are other ways such as marriage
8:43 for example and you would get um you
8:46 would get a residency um a permit if you
8:48 marry a Spaniard but we understand that
8:53 this is not so easy or so common um so
8:55 uh that's why a straightforward option
8:57 to obtain residency could be the golden
8:59 Visa path that as we said you need to
9:00 have have the money to make an
9:03 investment of half a million euros in um
9:06 in real estate or other Investments of
9:08 course uh there are requirements that
9:10 apply but this would be a pretty
9:13 straightforward way and very important
9:14 you must first spend two years
9:17 physically in Spain with legal residency before
9:18 before
9:20 applying now you must also pass a
9:25 language exam which is an A2 uh level uh
9:27 which is not extremely high but of
9:30 course easier said than done by by um by
9:33 a Spanish uh speaker here um then must
9:36 pass a culture exam CCSC we have a nice
9:38 video about it that where um member of
9:40 our community ask if it's difficult to
9:43 pass and yeah you should you should
9:45 watch that video I don't think it is
9:47 difficult but again easier said than
9:50 done uh then citizenship application
9:53 process takes from 1 to four years so
9:54 yeah it could be quick but it could take
9:59 many years um and then the citizens ship
10:01 application could be denied because of
10:03 sileno administrativo or administrative uh
10:04 uh
10:08 silence and uh then last but not least
10:10 be careful if you live during those two
10:13 years that you have been um legally
10:17 resident in Spain uh because um you
10:20 could be denied your application uh for
10:23 this reason all right if you think we're
