0:03 there are quite a few web interfaces
0:05 where you can access a launch language
0:08 model chat GPT is the best known one and
0:11 Google's B Microsoft's Bing and quite a
0:14 few others also work well let's take a
0:16 look at how people are using these L
0:18 applications whether or not you're
0:20 already using them regularly I hope that
0:21 this will give you some new ideas for
0:24 when and how they could be useful to you
0:27 LMS are giving a new way to find
0:30 information for example if you ask a
0:32 what's the capital of South Africa it
0:34 may give a response like that now as
0:38 we'll see later a LM can sometimes make
0:41 facts up we call this hallucination and
0:43 so if you're really relying on getting
0:45 the right answer to the question it may
0:47 be useful to double check the answer
0:49 with an authoritative Source before
0:51 counting on it but in this case it does
0:53 get the capital or three capitals of
0:55 South Africa right and sometimes a back
0:57 and forth with an LM is helpful too for
0:59 example if you ask what does lm stand
1:03 for in might answer LM stands for lagon
1:05 mag which is a term used in law and it's
1:08 actually a pretty common use of the ACM
1:10 LM on the internet but if you were to
1:12 then say what about in the context of AI
1:14 then hopefully it'll say in the context
1:16 of AI and LM refers to large language
1:19 model so sometimes this back and forth
1:21 can help you give the right context the
1:23 LM to give you the information you're
1:26 looking for an LM can also sometimes be
1:28 a thought partner to help you think
1:31 things through for example I often use
1:34 an LM to help me refine my writing if
1:36 you were to tell it wew write this for
1:38 clarity since are around the world are
1:40 realizing learning has to happen so on
1:41 leading albums are actually pretty good
1:44 at rewriting text for you or here's a
1:47 fun example if you were to tell it to
1:50 write a 300 words story involving trucks
1:51 maybe because you have a child that
1:53 likes trucks like I do my son love
1:54 trucks but to encourage them to brush
1:56 the teeth then leading albums can
1:58 actually create pretty fun and
2:00 interesting stories I don't don't think
2:03 this is nearly as good as the stories
2:06 written by the great novelists but for a
2:09 quick fun thing I think it's not bad now
2:10 there will be times when you're looking
2:12 for a piece of information and you might
2:15 be wondering should I use web search or
2:19 use an LM so if you're playing a sport
2:20 and unfortunately wound up with sprain
2:22 ankle and want to know what to do about
2:25 it web search can lead you to pretty
2:27 authoritative and I think trustworthy
2:30 sources that can give advice on how to
2:33 approach medical matters so for example
2:36 web pages from the Mayo Clinic or from
2:38 Harvard he these seem like they would be
2:40 trustworthy sources for what to do about
2:43 the sprain anle you could also ask an L
2:45 what to do about the Sprain anle and it
2:47 will generate some answer but given the
2:50 propensity of LMS to make things up and
2:52 sometimes sound very authoritative and
2:55 confident what making things up I would
2:57 probably want to double check anything
2:59 it says about Healthcare or medicine
3:01 before following suggestions here's one
3:04 more example if you want to bake a
3:05 pineapple pie and are looking for a
3:08 recipe it turns out there are lots of
3:11 recipes on the internet for a pineapple
3:13 pie and picking one created by a trusted
3:16 website or a trusted Chef that might get
3:18 you pretty good results or you can ask
3:21 an OM to make one up for you and in that
3:23 case it'll come with something that
3:26 frankly might be okay but also has a
3:27 high chance of being a somewhat strange
3:30 recipe so if you want a big a pineapple
3:33 pie I would probably go find a web page
3:35 because there are multiple web pages
3:37 that would give a good solid answer to
3:40 what's a good pineapple pie recipe but
3:42 if you were to look for something more
3:44 esoteric say a friend challenges you to
3:47 make coffee infused pineapple pie there
3:49 aren't any web pages that I could find
3:53 really on coffee infused pineapple pies
3:55 and so I don't think there is currently
3:57 a single web page that gives a good
3:59 answer to this and this would be one
4:02 example whereare an LM can help be a
4:04 thought partner to Think Through how you
4:07 might go about baking a coffee infused
4:10 pineapple pie so these are just some of
4:11 the tasks for which you might find the
4:15 web user interface for an LM useful
4:17 we'll explore more examples discuss
4:19 strengths and weaknesses of LMS and go
4:21 through some best practices later this
4:24 week but as you can see from this video
4:27 gen of AI is capable of many different
4:29 things in the next video we'll most
4:32 systematically discuss J of AI as a
4:34 general purpose technology as well as
4:37 start to come up with a way to organize
4:39 all of these things that they can do
4:41 which includes writing reading and
4:43 chatting toss let's go take a look at
