1:43 the first video that actually get my
1:46 high-fi video going was the video on the
1:49 Yamaha advantage a2a in that video
1:51 actually explain to to you guys why I
1:56 choose that uh AV receiver right so
1:59 um and I don't see myself as a
2:03 professional rwer reviewer right um
2:05 there are many many reviewer do much
2:07 better job than me all right so for
2:10 example there's one uh reviewer and I
2:12 hope that you can subscribe to her
2:15 channel to her Channel um we do not have
2:17 any connection and don't think she know
2:19 that I exist right this is I think a
2:22 channel is called the potato Fire review
2:25 all right uh a lady in the US and um her
2:28 channel was growing very well about I
2:31 think she hit hit a thousand and above
2:33 in a very short time but recently when I
2:35 go back to her Channel I'm her
2:38 subscriber I find that her subscriber
2:41 base suddenly become like less than 200
2:43 so she mentioned that I think YouTube
2:45 deleted her Channel I don't know what
2:47 happened right so that's not important
2:49 um she really putting a lot of effort
2:51 and uh she's of course she's not as
2:55 famous as those Steve Gutenberg dco that
2:58 kind of thing right Thomas but if you
3:01 want to have professional review
3:03 she should her channel should be the one
3:05 that you should view for me I'm more on
3:08 uh talking about the product I bought
3:11 myself as a consumer right as an average

3:18 this BMW um this is not the latest the
3:21 S3 version the latest is the S3 and I
3:25 bought this uh S2 okay um I got this S2
3:27 all right uh I can just tell you the
3:29 reason why all right maybe you want to
3:31 go for look for other video so I tell
3:33 the reason why first
3:36 um the one video that actually affected
3:40 my decision was uh this video by also
3:43 one of my favorite reviewer I I hope I
3:46 pronounce his name properly this Tama is
3:48 it yeah I sorry if I pronounce it
3:52 wrongly and he's an Asian guy I think
3:55 residing in the US so he was reviewing
3:58 the bookshelf version the 706

4:05 S3 yeah S3 and he mentioned that uh what
4:09 was so attractive about the 706 S2 which
4:11 he had he has
4:14 personally um
4:18 was uh compared to the S two right the
4:22 S3 is no longer that fun right I think
4:24 uh BMW actually trick the sound to give
4:28 it a more Fuller more warmer of course
4:30 not as warm as like other brand but but
4:32 warmer than the S2 version right S2 has
4:34 a lot of Sparkle kind of thing and I'm
4:38 the I'm one of those listener that I
4:39 need a lot of
4:42 sparer and I find it's more exciting
4:44 right than a very warm speaker very warm m
4:46 m
4:49 and that's why I choose the S2 and
4:56 reason um from the S3 onwards right
5:00 whether is it uh 703 or 76 right
5:02 the price has actually increased quite a
5:06 lot I think really really big increase
5:11 right um you know I reviewed the CF um
5:14 uh R3 meta right R3 meta
5:16 yeah before I bought a CF I was
5:20 considering uh the 7
5:24 703 the 703 is something like that but
5:26 you have the trater on top right the
5:30 with the TU trater on top um at the time
5:31 that was
5:36 um it was launched not long um I think
5:39 the supplier distributor in Singapore in
5:40 fact the distributor to find the
5:42 distributor was so very difficult right
5:45 I actually went through a lot to find
5:47 out the distributor here and I was offered
5:48 offered
5:51 $6,900 for one pair later I think it
5:54 increased to um I think $12,000
5:56 something no yeah I think it's very
5:58 close to 10,000 something like that yeah so
6:00 so
6:03 so uh I think it's Way
6:06 Beyond more than what I want to pay for
6:07 okay so that's that's it now I'm going
6:10 to talk about this uh uh the speaker itself
6:12 itself
6:16 um for this speaker I is very hard to
6:19 for me to describe to you just to tell
6:21 you about the sound alone all right
6:23 because when you're listening to this
6:25 speaker right it's no longer
6:29 about um The High Frequency the mid base
6:33 the base the mid-range right the vocal
6:35 of course speaker being speaker is still
6:37 do this kind of
6:40 thing for the um right I'm going to
6:42 compare this with the AR meta although
6:44 although this is a fla standard that is
6:47 a bookshelf I will take into
6:49 consideration especially the base
6:50 different I'm not going to compare so
6:52 much on the base right I'm going to
6:54 compare on the sound staging and how it
6:56 make me feel
7:00 um for the AR meta
7:02 that was a very outstanding figure
7:06 because um it's uh detail is clear
7:08 although it doesn't have the sparer like
7:12 BMW so and when I say these sparkers I
7:15 know some of you who um not so f with
7:17 bnw you're going to say that oh they are
7:19 very sharp but right now I can tell you
7:21 that it's not sharp right um if the
7:24 speaker is sharp because of M is not in
7:27 Synergy all right we are talking about
7:29 highi system it had to be a system they
7:31 have to work together right they must
7:33 compliment each other it's like husband
7:34 and wife they have to complement
7:36 complement each other then you can have
7:38 a happy marriage so same for the speaker and
7:39 and
7:43 amplifier if you think that U uh your
7:46 the bmd is very very sharp then I think
7:49 uh you should get a different M right
7:52 okay so for the AR meta I come back to AR
7:53 AR
7:56 meta I in that review you can look at
7:59 the video uh of the review I describe it
8:01 as is um you know very holographic the
8:03 biggest strength is a 3D uh the depth of
8:06 the sth stage rather uh more than the
8:09 the width so this is a bit opposite but
8:12 for that I can use some adjective to
8:14 describe it as an
8:18 Clarity know the vocer very good how the
8:21 female vocer how can hear the lips
8:24 smacking know uh splitting not splitting
8:26 I mean the top and the bottom lips you
8:28 you part ways right and then come
8:31 together yeah those you can hear because
8:33 detail and you also have rather good
8:38 base and if you have a suitable M and I
8:41 managed to hear that with uh Cambridge
8:43 audio Evo
8:45 150 and they actually bring out more
8:49 sparer then my Den then this guy the PMA
8:53 A110 that I'm having now so for that
8:55 speaker AR matter I can use that kind of
8:56 word to
8:59 describe but we will come to this guys I
9:01 think it's no longer talking about the
9:05 sound uh how it sound sound like of
9:08 course for a video I need to tell you a
9:11 bit about how it sound okay I think the
9:13 best part is the many people will
9:16 complain about the sharpness of this and
9:18 how thin they
9:21 sound uh of this treater but for me the
9:23 the strength is the treater I love the
9:26 treater because
9:30 um super high resolution
9:33 Brilliance the Sparkle is
9:35 absolutely uh
9:38 beautiful for example I hear I listen to
9:42 this song uh it's not through a very
9:43 good source it's not through those high
9:46 red Source or CD super audio CD is from
9:49 the F10 radio and the area that I'm
9:51 staying it's very hard for me to get a
9:53 perfect uh lock on to the
9:56 signal um I think someone told me
9:59 because there's a uh Air Force the the
10:00 air based nearby they have this huge hot
10:02 air balloon that is like a radar thing
10:05 right I'm not I'm not sure if that's the
10:07 reason so listening to that and
10:11 listening to odies Chinese old
10:13 right and this song they constantly have
10:16 this hitting of the triangle thing thing
10:20 thing with this speaker it's not about
10:22 the sound reaching my ear it's the sound
10:25 going around and from the
10:27 back front go to the back and then come
10:29 to my ear so every time hit the the
10:31 triangle the thinging thing the sound is
10:33 like wow it's like someone hitting the
10:35 thinging thing right beside me it's not
10:37 sharp it's just very sweet and very
10:39 comfortable and to the point that
10:42 actually a bit um you know hypnotizing
10:46 you can fall asleep that's so good
10:49 and because of uh so much emphasis on
10:53 the on the trater right and I
10:56 think um what people Miss is actually
10:59 the mbase this woofer the mbase uh mean the
11:01 the
11:04 mid-range so hearing this speaker is no
11:08 longer about hearing sound
11:11 quality when you hear the good speaker
11:13 we of course emphasize on the sound
11:16 quality then just like in my previous
11:18 review I say how the sound is
11:20 like but when you hear this speaker it's
11:23 totally different it's not
11:26 about uh all right for the AR meta is I
11:28 told you I told you that um it costus me
11:31 to TAP my feet right and well like the
11:33 music the music the musical note is
11:35 floating in the air the sort of
11:39 things but for when you listen to
11:43 this it's like the now the speaker is
11:46 communicating with me and it's not just
11:48 to my ear it's more like the music
11:51 actually is speaking to my soul yeah I
11:53 mean sound a bit eerie but yeah it's
11:56 about communicating with the soul all
11:59 right if the AR meta can cost me to tap
12:01 my feet my feel that dancing that kind of
12:03 of
12:07 thing listening to this uh
12:10 BMW you are more in touch with your soul
12:12 more in touch with the sentimental side
12:15 of person right um it's no longer been
12:18 so technical you know AR meta yes you
12:21 know I think even other reviewers say
12:23 that oh they can actually pinpoint the
12:25 position of the position of the musician
12:29 right um I have never really seen in a
12:31 in a real recording studio so I do not
12:33 know how they
12:35 record some of them is individual
12:39 individual uh um maybe recording room
12:41 for the individual instrument um the one
12:45 that I saw was uh the V Vista Social
12:47 Club they have I me talking about the
12:49 video so they have seen about the
12:51 recording so everyone playing together
12:52 like a light band then they do the
12:55 recording all right so you that kind of
12:57 thing you can estimate or where the
13:00 magician is but for
13:02 this you no long you forget about all

13:13 play when you listen to to this speaker
13:16 right when I listen to odies I I I told

13:45 music right uh we talk about making love
13:47 right having sex like of thing some of
13:49 them then kissing all this but for
13:51 Chinese culture we are more conservative
13:55 especially in the 50 60s right so you
13:57 talk about right some one of example one
13:58 of song talk about how he feel about a
14:01 girl and and uh how he want to arrange
14:04 himself to sort of bum into her and then
14:07 U give her roses kind of
14:10 thing some I listen to to when it's play
14:15 to the BMW and through my uh this uh PMA
14:21 A110 or even to my new new old Yamaha
14:23 receiver AB
14:26 receiver the music start to and the
14:28 lyrics right start to speak to your soul
14:33 and start to imagine all right wow um
14:37 how do people in that era where the song
14:40 was written how do they see things right
14:42 how do they dress but suddenly I can
14:46 picture like I have a picture of my late
14:48 father I know last time you know wear
14:52 the bell bottom and very high boots I
14:54 wear that too I wore that too when I was
14:56 a kid right that's how I think there was
14:57 a fashion then in
15:03 the uh early 80s early ' 80s and late 70s

15:07 so it communicate to my soul and I start
15:10 to imagine right I can't help it
15:15 but your soul and your whole mind is so

15:20 lyrics by the story of the music rather
15:23 than the quality of the music the
15:26 technicality of the music it's about you
15:30 totally being drawn into the music and
15:32 being transported to the
15:35 era all right I think a good speaker is
15:37 not about just giving you the quality of
15:39 the sound the technical you know what
15:42 kind of treater is a metod treater or a
15:45 fabric treater know what kind of man
15:47 what kind of motor
15:51 driver is no longer dead a good speaker
15:54 will convey the intention of the
15:56 songwriter right we always talk about
15:57 the singer the singer but the songwriter
16:01 is the the soul all right so it's expect
16:04 to my my conscience I start of sort of
16:07 like transported to the era I can see
16:09 know how people being so shy and yet
16:12 they want to know each other know and
16:15 and then there are some songs uh you got
16:16 a shock a actually they are not so
16:18 conservative they are even more ding
16:22 than than people in our era right you
16:24 start to see the
16:28 story it's no longer telling you uh I
16:31 think a good speaker like the K R3 meta
16:33 and maybe other speaker will let you
16:37 hear like you know people as I said for
16:40 let you hear the lips how the breathing

16:45 say you can hear the air all right but for

16:48 this this guy
16:50 here this guy doesn't bother with those

17:03 don't bother those things it's more on
17:06 conveying the spirit I mean the meaning

18:13 for a pair speaker those thing are good
18:15 but when you listen to this speaker is
18:20 things it's like you graduated

18:32 how I feel but from my emotion I think
18:35 you can hear how I feel but it's
18:38 emotional listen to this speak emotional

21:56 sharp and thin and cold sounding no no

22:05 R3 meta compared to PMC uh even the
22:09 quad this will appear as more lean
22:10 sounding but it's because you're
22:14 comparing to those are super warm right
22:19 um right so it's too extreme but by
22:22 itself I tell you especially the base
22:25 you talk about speed right well this
22:29 this guy the base right is fast
22:36 definition so totally I never ever own a
22:38 pair of speaker that sound this way that
22:41 give move me like

23:20 because I think my Denon 8 wat it can
23:24 drive it to the potential of
23:26 maybe 75 or

23:30 would change the M I'll change it to
23:33 maybe more than 100 watt maybe 120 watt
23:36 at least to to drive these
23:40 guys this is 80 wat uh if you have a 50
23:43 wat M and a good uh power supply that
23:45 high current I think you can also drive
23:47 this speaker all right but of course
23:49 it's not
23:53 about giving it an audio signal and then
23:55 you have sound right you want to have
23:58 sound coming up from this BMW any I
24:02 think even buy a very maybe a $300 AV
24:05 receiver you can do it too right they no
24:08 problem causing it to produce s but when
24:10 you buy discount speaker you want
24:13 to try to drive it to as much to its
24:14 potential as possible
