0:55 the five. Thank you, Lucy Goosey with
0:58 the five.
1:01 It is a gray hoodie, aka robe, if we're
1:03 being technical, chat. Do you own any
1:06 robes? Be honest. [snorts] Do you own
1:10 any robes up in here?

1:14 If

2:01 gray hoodie.
2:03 Okay. T-shirt needed. Hey, these things

2:39 Hold on. Okay, we're good.
2:41 Chat, what y'all do today, man? Y'all do
2:43 anything interesting today, chat? Be
2:46 honest. Did you did you do anything
2:50 interesting today?
2:52 Or did you just sit in the house
2:56 and not go outside?
2:59 I'm doing homework. Homework is still a
3:03 thing. Oh my goodness. I thought they
3:05 outlawed that.
3:19 I had a snow day. The cyclone in
3:21 Washington is hitting us hard. There's a
3:24 cyclone in Washington.
3:27 What is a cyclone?
3:30 That sounds crazy.
3:35 Yo, Ara with the five gifted. Thank you,
3:38 chat. What is a cyclone? Is that just
3:40 like a bunch of rain or something?
3:44 Somebody said, "Ask t." [laughter]
3:46 Yeah, T. Tay would know. I could ask
3:49 him. Yeah, T. Tay would know. Y'all
3:51 remember that song Cyclone by T pay?
3:54 That song was hard,
3:55 dude. People don't give Tay enough
3:59 credit, bro. He had the whole world in a chokeold

4:17 So, we're technically friends. You know
4:24 Technically friends, you know what I mean?
4:26 mean?
4:30 N chat. Dude, Tay had like so many Do
4:32 y'all remember?
4:34 Dude, he had so many bangers back in the
4:37 day, bro. It's actually unreal how many
4:40 bangers, bro. It's like legitimately insane.
4:42 insane. Uh,
4:43 Uh,
4:46 what is that? Yo, happy birthday, Danny.
4:48 Chat, tell Danny happy birthday. Happy
4:51 birthday, Danny. That's Danny with a I

5:03 you. Appreciate that.
5:08 Happy hum day. I wanted to ask if I
5:10 could be excused from today's stream. I
5:13 have a calculus final. No, you cannot,
5:16 but thank you for asking. Owen with the
5:18 five gifted. Thank you. Ruiz with the

5:23 the 500 bits too heaven. Thank you. Can
5:25 I get some words of inspiration from the
5:27 great pickle for my constitution test
5:35 Pay attention.
5:37 The pickles advice doesn't come around
5:42 very often. So when you do get it,
5:46 you need to absorb, appreciate, and use
5:49 the information.
5:52 >> When life gives you cucumbers, make
5:55 pickles, and keep on pickling.
5:58 >> Facts. Let's hit another one.
6:01 >> You are more resilient and capable than
6:04 you realize.
6:07 Facts. Another one.
6:11 >> Your hard work and perseverance will pay
6:14 off in the long run. >> Thanks.

6:42 Do me with the five.

6:47 briny. >> True.
6:49 >> True.
6:52 Let me ask the soul of the magic conch
6:55 that I harvested if she appreciates
6:57 those quotes from the pickle. Soul of
6:59 the magic hunch. Do you appreciate the

7:34 here.
7:38 This is why I harvested her soul.
7:39 Ain't that right?
7:40 >> Try asking again. >> Okay.
7:42 >> Okay.
7:43 Did you appreciate the advice that the
7:45 pickle just gave?
7:46 >> Do nothing.
7:48 >> That's not what I asked. It's a yes or
7:51 no question. Did you do you appreciate
7:53 the advice the pickle just gave out?
7:55 >> I'm pretty sure that's a yes, but don't
7:56 quote me.
7:59 >> Good enough. Hey,
8:01 Hey,
8:03 good enough. We'll take what we can get
8:06 up in here. My left ankle just started
8:10 hurting so bad. What is going on?
8:21 Why did my left ankle just start hurting?
8:31 I'm gone.
8:34 No, it's good now.
8:36 No, it's good.
8:38 It's okay. Not that y'all were concerned
8:43 or anything, chat, but it's okay, right?
8:45 Uh, Ruiz of 500 Bits. What's up, Case?
8:47 Would you mind saying happy birthday to
8:48 my friend? Haha, buddy. I'm not saying

11:20 >> In September 2019, 40-year-old Steven
11:22 Weber Jr. and his girlfriend Kenishha
11:24 Antoine went on a vacation to Pembbe
11:26 Island. Steven had been dating Kenishha
11:28 for a while by this point and had
11:29 planned to propose to her during this
11:32 trip. Knew, however, was that the
11:34 >> Oh no. Oh no. I know this one. Oh my
11:47 Did y'all ever see this one?
11:49 Trip of their lives was about to turn
11:51 into an irreversible tragedy. The
11:53 groundwork for this tragedy was laid
11:54 when the two arrived at the island and
11:57 checked in to stay at the mountain.
11:59 It had a nice uninterrupted view of the
12:01 ocean as well as a roof area to relax
12:03 and enjoy the tropical weather. However,
12:05 the most important feature of this
12:06 resort was the underwater room which
12:09 offered a 360° view of the marine life
12:11 surrounding the resort. This room served
12:13 as the whole idea behind how Steven had
12:15 planned to propose. He put on swimming
12:17 goggles and dived down to one of the
12:19 windows in this room, prompting Kenisha
12:21 to begin recording. He then unrolled a
12:23 paper note inside a ziplockc bag and
12:25 pressed it against the window. It read,
12:27 >> "I can't hold my breath long enough to
12:29 tell you everything I love about you,
12:31 but everything I love about you, I love
12:31 more everyday, >> man."
12:32 >> man."
12:33 >> He then flipped the note and on the
12:35 other side was a marriage proposal for
12:37 Kenisha reading, "Will you please be my wife?"
12:40 wife?"
12:43 >> Oh, it's so cute. [laughter]
12:44 [laughter]
12:59 Oh my god, [screaming]
13:00 [screaming] [laughter]
13:02 [laughter]
13:09 He'd also showed the wedding ring he
13:10 brought for this occasion before
13:13 swimming up to hear Kenisha's response.
13:14 At this point, Kenisha stopped recording
13:16 and rushed to the surface floor, eager
13:18 to give her answer. But when she looked
13:21 outside, instead of a smiling Steven,
13:22 she saw nothing.
13:24 >> Steven was nowhere to be seen. Kenisha
13:26 climbed the roof, hoping he might have
13:28 been up there. Unfortunately, there were
13:30 no signs of Steven anywhere. He had
13:31 vanished somewhere between showing her
13:34 the ring and swimming up to the surface.
13:35 After understanding the full gravity of
13:36 the situation,
13:38 >> I remember seeing this one years ago. I
13:39 was like, "Bro, no way. That's messed
13:40 up, dude."
13:42 >> She called for help with several locals
13:44 rushing to her aid. Unfortunately, it
13:46 took some time to find Steven. He was
13:48 floating in the water and by that point
13:50 it was already too late. Some resort
13:52 workers tried to revive him with CPR.
13:54 However, it wasn't effective. Steven had
13:56 miscalculated how long he could hold his
13:58 breath underwater and drowned before he
14:00 could reach the surface. You can even
14:01 see his hand shaking as he holds the
14:03 ring near the end of the video.
14:05 >> Shout out to Brodo. I couldn't even I
14:06 wouldn't even be able to make it down
14:07 there on one breath hold. I don't
14:08 understand how people hold their breath
14:11 so long. I literally can't. I got Bro,
14:14 especially if I'm swimming or something.
14:16 If I'm swimming, dude, I feel like I
14:17 can't hold my breath for like 10
14:19 seconds. I'll be about to pass out.
14:20 >> Body desperately telling him he needs
14:23 air now. But in an effort to get his
14:24 point across and make the moment that
14:27 much more special, he ignores this and
14:30 unfortunately pays the ultimate price. >> RIP.
14:33 >> RIP.
14:35 >> Mini Joe is a YouTube channel that
14:37 occasionally posted travel videos up
14:39 until 3 years ago. Most of these were
14:41 typical travel vlogs showcasing the
14:42 hosts of different expeditions around
14:44 the world. However, out of the roughly
14:47 30 videos they've uploaded, one stands
14:49 out for just how disturbing it is. This
14:51 video contains a collection of footage
14:52 Joe and his friends captured while doing
14:54 technical dives in the Blue Hole in
14:55 Tahab, Egypt.
14:56 >> Oh no.
14:58 >> Which is often considered the deadliest
15:00 diving spot in the world. There are a
15:01 few conflicting reports on the total
15:03 number, but most people agree that
15:06 somewhere between 130
15:08 have met their end while trying to reach
15:10 its depths. That is an average of eight
15:13 lives lost per year. And unfortunately,
15:15 the total is still going up. What's
15:16 worse is that the remains of many
15:17 victims are
15:19 >> uh yo, 5,000 bits from please read my
15:21 bits. Hey kids, love your streams. I
15:23 watch them every day. Congrats on
15:24 winning gamer of the year. Today's my
15:26 18th birthday. Could you uh wish you
15:28 happy birthday? Yo, happy 18th birthday,
15:29 Alex. Should I tell Alex happy 18th
15:31 birthday, by the way? Happy 18th
15:33 birthday, Alex. Thank you.
15:35 W Alex, for real. Happy 18th birthday,
15:37 Alex. Thank you.
15:40 Wait, what? New School Boy Runaway game
15:42 coming in 2026. It's called School Boy
15:44 Outdoors. Yeah, I knew it was called,
15:45 Dad. I don't know exactly when it was
15:47 when it's coming out. Dude, BY THE WAY,
15:48 WE NEED AN UPDATE FOR I'M DONE talking
15:51 about Quarantine Zone, but we do. But
15:52 give us something, man. Just drop the game.
15:54 game.
15:56 >> Never recovered, which is exactly what
15:58 made Mini Joe's video so unsettling.
16:00 Their dive started off like any other,
16:02 but as they descended deeper, they came
16:05 across the tanks, lines, and suits of
16:07 those who came before and never made it
16:09 back. Some of the remains were wedged
16:11 into narrow crevices on the ocean floor,
16:12 hinting at what might have gone wrong
16:14 for them. Most were also taken over by
16:16 the environment, suggesting they might
16:18 have been down there for years.
16:20 >> What these encounters served as a
16:22 constant reminder of the true danger of
16:25 technical diving. Divers often have to
16:26 carry multiple heavy tanks before they
16:28 can even begin the anonymous with the
16:30 >> And once they're in the water, they have
16:31 to constantly monitor their oxygen
16:33 levels while also staying aware of their
16:35 surroundings. Things only become more
16:36 dangerous the deeper they dive, where
16:38 even a moment's distraction can quickly
16:41 turn fatal. However, all of this is true
16:42 for any dive, regardless of the
16:44 location. What makes the Dahab blue hole
16:46 even more dangerous is the false sense
16:49 of security it provides. Blue holes, for
16:50 those who don't know, are like vertical
16:53 caves in oceans that go a lot deeper
16:55 than the surrounding ocean floor. And
16:57 the one in Dahab, Egypt, is an even more
16:59 extreme version of that. One of the
17:01 biggest contributors to its deadliness
17:04 is its depth of about 426 ft or around
17:06 130 m, which isn't very apparent from
17:08 the surface. It's also an almost
17:10 vertical drop to the bottom. This
17:12 catches many new divers offg guard,
17:14 causing them to miscalculate their gas
17:16 levels and tragically goober in the chat
17:31 I bet if you was swimming out in the
17:32 middle of the ocean, you saw a giant
17:34 squid swim by, you'd be singing a
17:39 >> Another name on the memorial near the
17:42 diving site. One of the most well-known
17:44 cases of this is 22-year-old Yuri
17:46 Lipsky, a Russian diving instructor.
17:48 >> Yep, I know that video, too.
17:50 >> Belt. However, he had no prior
17:51 experience with the Dahaba blue hole,
17:54 resulting in it taking his life. The
17:55 footage from his recovered dive.
17:57 >> Not being scared means you have no
17:59 survival skills. True.
18:01 >> Struggling to keep his gas levels in
18:03 check. Trying to quickly slow down his descent.
18:04 descent.
18:06 >> Not being scared ain't a flex. That
18:07 literally means Yeah, it's literally
18:10 true. Not being scared ain't a flex. It
18:12 means you have no survival skills. Like none.
18:14 none.
18:16 the buoyancy device to burst and
18:18 eventually succumbing to nitrogen
18:20 poisoning in just 4 minutes after
18:23 starting his dive. However, the sheer
18:24 depth is only one part of this blue
18:27 hole's danger. As Mini Joe's video
18:28 demonstrated, the other part of its
18:30 lethality comes from the network of
18:32 partially collapsed caves littered
18:34 throughout the area. They promise
18:35 incredible views and look like prime
18:38 diving spots at first glance, but in all
18:40 reality, they are deceptively difficult
18:42 to navigate through. Narrow passage and
18:45 jagged rocks are everywhere. A single
18:46 mistake can leave a technical diver
18:48 stuck in one of these caverns with no
18:50 way out until their gas tanks inevitably
18:53 run out. The terrain also makes recovery
18:54 extremely difficult. And many families
18:56 of the fallen often opt to just leave
18:58 their loved ones down there so as not to
19:00 endanger even more lives in recovery attempts.
19:01 attempts.
19:03 >> Which explains why Joe came across so
19:05 many diving suits in his video. >> Yep,
19:18 >> Chevy Silverado,
19:22 >> the best from day one.
19:25 >> In July 2016, a diver named Jacob Childs
19:26 went on a group diving trip off the
19:28 coast of Southeast Queensland,
19:31 Australia. The boat stopped roughly 35 m
19:32 or about 56 km.
19:34 >> Yo, that's crazy. I just got hit with an
19:35 ad on this video. Y'all about to get hit
19:38 with an ad in 20 seconds. post and Jacob
19:40 was the second to last person to dive.
19:42 However, a minute after entering the
19:44 water, the diving line slipped out of
19:45 his hand. He thought he could swim back
19:47 to the boat and start over, but as he
19:49 got closer, he was shocked to realize
19:51 the rope had been pulled in. And before
19:53 he could think of what to do next, a
19:54 strong current swept the ocean surface
19:56 and separated him from the boat.
19:58 >> To make matters worse, the captain of
20:00 the boat also sped off to go fishing
20:01 while everyone was diving. What the
20:03 >> time the other divers got back to the
20:05 boat and realized Jacob was missing, he
20:06 was already completely out of their
20:08 view, leaving him stranded in the middle
20:10 of the ocean, 35 mi from the nearest
20:11 piece of land.
20:13 >> That said, the distance from land was
20:15 the least of Jacob's worries at that
20:17 moment. For starters, the water around
20:20 him was nearly 20° C, which is about 68°
20:23 F. This wasn't nearly cold enough to
20:24 make him freeze up and pass out
20:26 immediately, but it was cold enough to
20:28 slowly sap away his body heat, making
20:30 him more susceptible to hypothermia and
20:32 exhaustion with every passing minute. It
20:33 was also late in the afternoon and the
20:35 sun was about to go down, meaning it was
20:37 only going to get worse. After a while,
20:39 a rescue plane flew above him twice, but
20:42 it didn't see him. And this was still
20:44 bright, and the inflatable indicator was
20:46 visible from quite a distance. He knew
20:47 that once it got dark, his chances of
20:57 The sun's GOING DOWN.
20:59 >> HOW'D THE PLANE NOT SEE HIM? WHAT DO YOU
21:00 DO? AIRPLANE. >> Nothing
21:02 >> Nothing
21:09 >> I guess.
21:11 Unfortunately, there was nothing Jacob
21:12 could do at that moment but wait and
21:14 continue recording what possibly could
21:16 be his last message to his family.
21:18 Identifying the right direction and then
21:20 swimming for over 35 m would have been
21:22 next to impossible.
21:23 >> If he had taken it upon himself to try
21:25 and reach the coast, he would have
21:26 likely exhausted himself and drowned
21:28 partway through. He did try to follow a
21:30 fishing boat he saw in the distance, but
21:32 quickly realized that he wouldn't be
21:33 able to get close enough to get its
21:35 attention, leaving him feeling dejected.
21:38 Chad, how did that plane not see that
21:41 big giant yellow thing right there? You
21:43 flew directly OVER AND YOU JUST WASN'T LOOKING.
22:06 Besides, swimming too far from his
22:07 original location would have also
22:09 reduced his chances of being saved since
22:11 rescue teams would no longer know where
22:12 to look.
22:14 >> As the sky got darker and the rescue
22:16 plane failed to spot him multiple times,
22:19 the frustration was beginning to set in.
22:23 >> There's a plane coming back.
22:26 >> There's a rescue boat way over there.

22:31 >> the salty sea water was also making him
22:33 extremely dehydrated, worsening his
22:35 chances of survival by the minute.
22:37 However, Jacob was experienced enough to
22:39 know that panicking or getting angry
22:40 wouldn't do any good.
22:42 >> The right thing to do was to stay put
22:43 while exerting the least amount of
22:45 effort. After drifting in the middle of
22:48 nowhere for over 6 hours, he was finally
22:49 spotted by a helicopter.
22:51 >> 6 hours just floating in the middle of
22:56 the ocean on your own, bro.
22:58 Brada passed out
23:00 >> and brought to safety on a rescue boat.
23:02 With the sun nearly below the horizon,
23:04 he came dangerously close to losing his
23:06 life that day. Fortunately, he was able
23:09 to recover with no permanent injuries.
23:12 >> Well, that's good to hear.
23:15 >> On the 26th of May 2013, a group of
23:17 three tugboats was trying to stabilize
23:19 an oil tanker during a harsh storm
23:21 nearly 20 m or 32 km off the coast of
23:24 Nigeria. That's when one of the boats
23:26 named Jaskin 4 got hit by a massive
23:29 rogue wave. This capsized the boat,
23:31 causing it to sink rapidly and disappear
23:33 below the water surface within seconds.
23:35 The company behind this operation, West
23:37 African Ventures, immediately set off a
23:39 rescue mission. However, the harsh
23:40 weather made any immediate rescue
23:43 efforts impossible. They eventually sent
23:45 a helicopter to look for any survivors
23:47 who managed to swim back to the surface.
23:49 Unfortunately, even after a full day of
23:50 searching, they didn't find a single
23:52 member of the Jaskin 4's crew who was
23:54 still alive. This left the company with
23:56 no choice but to presume the crew
23:58 deceased and begin a body recovery
24:00 diving mission instead. The task of retrie
24:01 retrie
24:06 >> This is where I know I remember this.
24:09 THIS ONE IS CRAZY, DUDE.
24:11 >> The remains was handed down to six
24:12 saturation. That's where THAT DUDE WAS
24:15 STILL ALIVE IN THE SUNKEN SHIP all the
24:16 way at the bottom.
24:19 >> Laying underwater oil pipes nearby. The
24:20 only reason they were chosen for the
24:22 task was because they were the closest
24:23 to the site of the incident. Still, it
24:25 took them around a day to reach the site
24:27 and begin looking for Jaskin 4. The
24:29 harsh waves had shifted its position
24:31 significantly from where it capsized,
24:33 causing even more time lost before the
24:34 retrieval mission could begin.
24:36 Unfortunately, that was far from the
24:38 only hurdle the rescue divers would face
24:40 on this mission. Once they located the
24:42 Jaskin 4 and dove down to it, they
24:44 discovered that the boat had turned
24:46 upside down. It was now resting on its
24:48 primary mast, which could collapse at
24:50 any time. Due to significant pirate
24:52 activity in that area, all of the Jaskin
24:54 4's entrances were also locked shut,
24:56 forcing the divers to use specialized
24:58 underwater torches just to gain access.
25:00 Sadly, their assumption turned out to be
25:03 correct. By the afternoon of the 28th of
25:06 May, 2 days after Jaskin 4 had sunk, the
25:07 rescue team managed to recover the
25:09 remains of four crew members. 2 days after
25:10 after
25:13 >> though two were still missing. But just
25:15 as all hope seemed lost, one of the
25:17 divers named Tony Walker made an
25:19 incredible discovery. For some context,
25:21 Tony was being instructed on what to do
25:23 by his supervisor Kobe Verrett from the
25:25 surface. Tony was also inhaling a gas
25:27 mixture which was partially helium,
25:29 making his voice higher. While looking
25:31 around the upside down boat, he came
25:33 across what looked like a human hand. He
25:34 assumed it belonged to yet another
25:37 fallen crew member. quiet it to his
25:39 surprise. The hand moved and grabbed him back.
25:39 back. >> Dude,
25:46 >> I think almost everybody's seen this
25:53 >> Could you imagine, bro?
25:55 >> All right, so you should be walking on
25:57 the on the on the ceiling. Yeah. >> Okay.
25:59 >> Okay.
26:01 >> What's that? Okay.
26:03 >> All right. You found one. Yeah.
26:05 >> He's alive. He's alive.
26:07 Keep him there. Keep him there.
26:10 >> Heat with the 10. W. Heat with the 10.
26:11 >> All right. All right. Just hold him
26:15 there. Okay. Just keep him there.
26:16 >> I don't know how much we're going to do.
26:18 All right. Just keep him there and keep
26:20 him calm. Okay.
26:22 >> All right. Just uh just reassure him.
26:24 Pat him on the shoulder.
26:28 Could you imagine being in a sunken boat
26:29 in the middle of the ocean, everybody's
26:31 dead and you're at the bottom of the
26:35 ocean in a air pocket in a ship and a
26:37 diver actually comes and saves you two
26:43 >> Bro,
26:46 >> this was 29-year-old Harrison O'Kenni, a
26:48 Jaskin Forest's resident cook. After
26:50 over 60 hours underwater, Harrison was
26:52 somehow still alive. He also seemed
26:54 quite aware of everything that was going
26:56 on around him and remained calm to help
26:57 the rescuers do their job. In
26:59 >> completely Harrison was in the bathroom
27:01 when the boat capsized. He tried to rush
27:03 to the emergency latch, but water rushed
27:06 in and trapped the crew inside. To his
27:07 knowledge, Harrison was the only one who
27:09 managed to survive after creating a
27:11 makeshift indoor raft from plywood,
27:13 cardboard, and a mattress. After finding
27:15 him, rescuers gave him fresh water and
27:17 harness to keep him close. However, the
27:19 divers knew they didn't have much time
27:21 to plan a proper rescue mission. You
27:23 see, the air pocket Harrison was in was
27:25 about to run out, likely in less than an
27:27 hour. Harrison could end up suffocating
27:29 if they didn't act quick enough. On the
27:30 other hand, they couldn't just strap him
27:32 into a rope and pull him back to the
27:34 surface. He had already spent over 2 and
27:36 1/2 days in an extremely high pressure
27:38 environment. Taking him to the surface
27:39 too quickly could have caused
27:41 decompression sickness, which in extreme
27:44 cases can also be lethal. Fortunately,
27:45 due to their job of installing
27:47 underwater oil pipes, the divers were
27:48 uniquely equipped to deal with these
27:51 exact issues. More specifically, they
27:52 had a pressurized diving bell attached
27:54 to which they put Harrison in after
27:56 consulting a doctor. Had this been a
27:58 standard diving crew with regular scuba
28:00 gear, they wouldn't have had anything to
28:01 keep Harrison alive. Once back on the
28:03 surface, he also had to spend some more
28:05 time in a decompression chamber to avoid
28:07 decompression sickness and was fairly
28:09 okay after that. However, while he
28:11 recovered physically, the mental trauma
28:13 of being trapped in an upside down boat
28:15 on the ocean floor for over two days
28:16 with no idea if anyone was coming to
28:19 save him left him with PTSD, something
28:22 he is still recovering from to this day.
28:25 >> Craziest survival story ever.
28:28 >> On December 13, 2013, YouTuber Kodiak
28:30 Thunder uploaded a video showing a
28:32 near-death experience he had while
28:32 diving. Oh lord.
28:34 >> Unlike many other divers, Kodiak's
28:36 motive wasn't to just dive as deep as he
28:39 could or reach some underwater landmark.
28:41 Instead, his diving sessions were more
28:42 about catching [crying] fish and
28:44 crustations by hand or with a spear gun.
28:47 But while chasing a lobster, he swam too
28:49 far into an underwater cave. He managed
28:51 to catch the lobster he was after, but
28:53 when he turned around, he had no idea
28:54 how to get out.
29:02 bro. What you even doing in here, man?
29:24 This is what hunger does to someone,
29:26 buddy. Someone who's hungry doesn't have
29:28 the money for diving equipment to go
29:30 hunt lobsters in the bottom of the ocean.
29:42 dog. Like what? What?
29:43 What?
29:44 >> Fortunately, after swimming around in
29:46 the cave for a few minutes, he was able
29:47 to find the exit and swim out without
29:49 any trouble. However, this was
29:52 incredibly lucky. The thing is, diving
29:54 on its own is incredibly dangerous. A
29:56 single distraction can quickly spiral
29:59 into an irreversible tragedy. Unless
30:01 they're very deep, divers at least have
30:02 the option to just swim up to the
30:04 surface and wait for rescue. Though not
30:07 with cave diving, one of the primary
30:08 hazards in a cave is the environment
30:11 itself. Unlike the open ocean, many
30:12 underwater caves,
30:13 >> yeah, there's soot on the wall, so if
30:15 you kick up soot from the wall, you
30:16 can't find your way out.
30:19 >> Floor is covered in extremely fine silt.
30:21 A poorly controlled fin kick or even the
30:23 exhaust bubbles from a regulator hitting
30:25 the ceiling can dislodge this sediment.
30:27 This creates a silt out, a condition
30:28 where the water's visibility drops to
30:31 absolutely zero instantly. Divers high
30:34 power become useless. And in some
30:36 extreme cases, the diver can't even see
30:37 their own hands, let alone their
30:39 surroundings. This also makes them
30:40 unable to see their gauges or the
30:42 guidelines. In short, they no longer
30:44 know where they're going, where they're
30:45 supposed to go, or whether they're
30:47 getting the right gas mixture. At best,
30:49 they can keep swimming and hope the cave
30:51 is straight enough to eventually lead
30:53 them away from the murky water. Look at
30:54 all them air tanks. Four.
30:56 >> If they can't monitor their gases,
30:58 nitrogen poisoning can become a serious
31:00 problem. It impairs both their cognitive
31:02 and motor function, leaving them to take
31:04 their final breaths in the cave unless
31:06 someone is there to rescue them. Even
31:08 then, rescue isn't always an option.
31:10 Many underwater caves are extremely
31:12 narrow, and with tanks and other
31:13 essential gear, navigating these tight
31:16 spaces becomes even harder. In most
31:17 cases, there isn't even enough room to
31:19 turn around.
31:21 If diver passes out, the others can get
31:22 trapped behind them and lose their lives
31:23 there as well.
31:24 >> I don't either.
31:25 >> One of the most well-known cases of this
31:28 exact scenario happened on February 6th,
31:30 2014 when a team of five Finnish cavers
31:32 visited Norway to go cave diving through
31:34 Plura Cave. All five of them were
31:36 veteran cave divers and knew exactly
31:38 what they were doing. They even had
31:39 mapped out the exact route they planned
31:42 to follow.
31:50 dude? Why?
31:52 >> However, as they were crossing the
31:54 narrowest section of the cave, the
31:56 cylinder of one of the divers got stuck,
31:58 preventing him from moving forward and
31:59 blocking the others behind him. The
32:01 chaos of the situation resulted in two
32:03 of the divers panicking, failing to
32:05 monitor their gauges and passing away
32:07 within minutes. The other three barely
32:09 made it out alive as well. One had to
32:11 squeeze past the stuck diver by removing
32:13 his gear and swimming the rest of the
32:15 way, gasping for air from tiny pockets
32:17 along the ceiling. The remaining two had
32:19 to turn back and exit through the
32:20 original entrance with almost no air
32:22 left in their tanks. The fact that any
32:24 of them made it out alive was nothing
32:26 short of a miracle, highlighting the
32:28 true horror of underwater cave diving.
32:30 Because when things go even slightly
32:33 wrong during a cave dive, even the most
32:35 experienced and well-prepared divers can
32:38 struggle to survive.
32:40 W video.
32:42 Anybody go cave d? Who goes cave diving
