0:01 hello everyone and welcome to your known
0:04 nonsense beginner guide on how to play
0:06 the birds opening with Pawn 2 F4 so
0:08 before I get into the theory I want to
0:10 talk about why we play F4 in the first
0:12 place the point of this move is that
0:15 we're controlling the E5 square and that
0:18 idea of controlling E5 will continue for
0:20 the entire game our next two moves will
0:22 almost always be Knight to F3 control
0:25 the square even more and also be free
0:28 and Bishop to B2 to once again control
0:30 that square even more and in the future
0:33 because we have the E5 Square so well
0:35 defended we will eventually plot this
0:38 Knight onto E5 and once we do that that
0:40 will cause a lot of problems for black
0:42 because we will have an extremely well
0:44 defended centralized Knight alright so
0:46 what are Black's responses here if black
0:49 plays just about anything you will have
0:52 one setup that you can play which I will
0:55 show you except if they play Pawn to E5
0:58 this is the froms Gambit and objectively
1:01 it is not the best however if you do not
1:03 know what you're doing you can get
1:06 checkmated extremely fast hence why I am
1:09 showing it first so E5 you are going to
1:11 accept the Gambit and the reason it is
1:13 so dangerous is that now this diagonal
1:16 here is very very weak so black will
1:19 most likely go Pawn up to D6 here this
1:21 is their best option you're going to
1:23 capture they will capture back and
1:25 because of both their Queen and their
1:27 Bishop potentially coming in you're
1:30 going to play Knight to F3 here control
1:33 the Square from the queen and black has
1:35 two main options here if they go Bishop
1:38 to G4 and attack the Knight this is not
1:40 a challenging option at all you'll
1:43 simply go Pawn up to E3 here get the
1:45 queen defending the Knight and after
1:48 something like Knight to C6 Bishop to E2
1:51 let's say Knight to F6 you can simply
1:54 Castle here you'll then go Pawn up to be
1:56 free Bishop to B2 and you are up a pawn
1:58 here and even though you are a little
2:00 cramped black cannot really attack you
2:02 and they do not have much to show for
2:05 being down a pawn so Bishop to G4 is not
2:08 a very strong option here what is much
2:11 stronger is G5 this is the Lasker
2:14 variation and it looks a bit ridiculous
2:17 but the idea here is Pawn up to G4 kick
2:19 the Knight away at which point their
2:21 Queen will be able to come in with lots
2:25 of problems for us so after G5 you are
2:27 going to play Pawn up to G free trying
2:30 to shut this diagonal down black will
2:33 now push up to G4 most likely attacking
2:35 our Knight and we're going to move it to
2:38 the side on H4 and even though Knights
2:41 on the rim are usually Grim in this case
2:43 black cannot really punish us and they
2:45 are still down a pawn so once again
2:48 black has two main options in this
2:50 Mainline position the first one is
2:53 Bishop to E7 trying to immediately
2:56 attack our Knight and we cannot let them
2:58 capture because then after we capture
3:00 their Queen and get in and that would be
3:02 absolutely terrible so you have to back
3:05 the night up to G2 now hence why we
3:08 played Pawn up to G free and Black's
3:10 best option here is to try Pawn to H5
3:14 and H4 however here you simply go Pawn
3:17 up to D4 the idea is that we are opening
3:21 up our Bishop in after H4 we do not want
3:23 to capture because once again then their
3:24 bishop and their Queen would get in so
3:27 you have to play Bishop to F4 here
3:29 simply defending the pawn with the
3:31 bishop black has to now run out of steam
3:34 and they really do not have compensation
3:36 for being down a pawn so that's what to
3:39 do against Bishop to E7 but their other
3:42 main line here is Knight to E7 simply
3:44 developing the Knight but their King
3:46 side is completely ripped open so
3:48 castling on that side is a complete
3:50 no-go for them and the movie wants to
3:53 play here is D4 and there's a very
3:56 specific reason you want to go D4
3:58 immediately the idea is that after
4:01 Knight to G6 here trying to trade off
4:04 the Knight you are going to capture and
4:06 after they capture back black now has a
4:09 fret here of capturing the pawn because
4:11 this Rook here is pinning it so what
4:14 you're going to do is Queen up to D3
4:17 which is why we played D4 now the pawn
4:20 is defended and once again I think black
4:23 here runs out of steam you will go Pawn
4:26 up to C3 Bishop to G2 you'll rotate this
4:29 Knight to the E4 square and while black
4:31 does have some long lasting pressure
4:34 from the Pawn on G4 as well as the open
4:36 H file I do not think they have full
4:38 compensation for the pawn and you have
4:41 very good chances in this position so
4:44 that is how to handle Pawn up to E5 the
4:46 froms Gambit make sure you know that but
4:49 now let's get into their other lines and
4:51 here black can play about a million
4:53 different things they can go D5 and go C5
4:54 C5
4:58 um Knight to F6 Knight to C6 D6 E6 the
5:00 point here is that no matter what they
5:03 play unless it is Pawn to E5 you can
5:06 play in pretty much the exact same way
5:09 so let's look at Pawn up to D5 as an
5:11 example the first move you're going to
5:13 want to make is Knight to F3 controlling
5:15 the square and developing your knight
5:18 then after black plays their move you'll
5:20 then go Pawn up to be free remember
5:22 those ideas that I mentioned in the
5:24 beginning you can see all of them
5:26 happening right now you will go Bishop
5:29 to B2 and control the E5 Square as much
5:31 as you can so black will now go Knight
5:35 to C6 here you go Bishop to B2 and the
5:37 good thing about controlling the E5
5:40 Square so much is that pawn up to E5 as
5:43 a break for black is very difficult to
5:46 accomplish and that is a very good thing
5:49 for us because if black can get E5 in
5:51 successfully chances are that is going
5:54 to be very bad news for us so most
5:55 likely black will just continue
5:57 developing normally Knight to F6 here
6:02 and you now go Pawn up to E3 opening up
6:05 the bishop into Bishop wants to go to B5
6:08 the reason is to trade off for this
6:11 Knight here because then E5 will no
6:14 longer be contested and once again black
6:16 has a lot of different things they can
6:19 play here I'll look at Pawn to E6 as an
6:21 example but once again all these ideas
6:23 that I'm showing are a kind of setup
6:25 that you'll play in pretty much every
6:28 single time here so after Pawn up to E6
6:30 or whatever move they play you want to
6:33 go Bishop to B5 attack the Knight and
6:36 hopefully trade it off if black simply
6:39 provokes you with Pawn to A6 this is a
6:40 very bad move because you're going to
6:43 capture this Knight anyways and after
6:45 captures captures in some openings
6:48 having these doubled C pawns can be a
6:49 good thing but this is not one of them
6:52 black simply does not really have any
6:54 reason to have the Double C pawns and
6:56 after simply castles here you just have
6:58 a nice Advantage instead what is
7:00 probably best for them is is to try
7:04 Bishop to D7 and undo the pin and
7:06 capture back with the bishop when we do
7:08 eventually capture and by the way we
7:11 will always capture this Knight or some
7:13 piece sooner or later around this area
7:16 so here you're simply going to Castle
7:19 let's say black develops Bishop to E7
7:22 preparing to Castle you want to go D
7:25 free here the idea is to rotate this
7:28 Knight to D2 and potentially this Knight
7:33 when it goes to E5 can come to F3 and
7:35 then both Knights can be defending the
7:37 E5 square and you will have just a great
7:39 time so black would most likely Castle
7:43 here now at Knight to D2 now black will
7:46 go A6 and in this position now we're
7:49 going to capture because we are provoked
7:52 they will capture back and now we plot
7:54 the Knight into the center Knight to E5
7:57 here attacking the bishop and Black's
7:59 best move here is like Bishop back to EA
8:02 8 this is extremely inhuman no person
8:04 would ever play that move instead the
8:07 most common move here is Queen to C7
8:09 defending the bishop at which point you
8:12 have a few options you can play Knight
8:14 d2f3 like I mentioned earlier just
8:16 keeping this Knight defendant in Center
8:19 as much as possible you can also try
8:21 Queen to F free but the most promising
8:25 line here is likely Rook up to F3 the
8:28 idea is to try and Rook lift this Rook
8:31 to either G free or H3 and then get your
8:34 queen into the attack and black is going
8:36 to have a little bit trouble defending
8:38 on that side because our pawns and their
8:40 pawns have kind of closed off their
8:43 pieces from seeing that side for example
8:45 if Black Goes Knight back to D7 which is
8:47 the second most common move simply
8:49 attack the Knight and preparing Pawn to
8:52 F6 to try and really get that square we
8:55 now go Rook to G free and if Black Goes
8:58 F6 now then Queen to G4 and you're
9:01 winning they're about 6 60 games in its
9:04 position simply Queen takes on G7 is too
9:06 strong and black cannot handle it and
9:08 you are completely winning his position
9:11 after Rook 2 of 7 Knight captures King
9:14 captures Queen captures on G7 you are
9:16 completely winning there so that can
9:18 just show you how dangerous this can get
9:21 for black if they are not very very
9:23 careful here their best move here is
9:26 probably like D4 to try and open up
9:28 their Bishop to see The Rook but simply
9:32 E4 here and even though your Bishop is
9:35 now blocked out which is not very good
9:38 blacks pieces as well are also blocked
9:40 out this bishop is staring at this Pawn
9:41 this Knight staring at the pawn this
9:44 bishop is not doing much back here and
9:46 you're playing this position is to once
9:48 again to try and instigate on the king
9:50 side move the Rook to either G3 or H3
9:53 try and move your queen in and I think
9:56 your chances in position are absolutely
9:58 fantastic alright thank you so much for
10:01 watching that was your no-nonsense
10:03 beginner guide on how to play the birds
10:06 opening I hope you have a great day and
