0:03 I'm here to show you what to do if you
0:06 see someone suddenly collapse and they
0:08 don't seem to be responsive First Step
0:10 we're going to ensure that there is no
0:13 danger then we're going to check for
0:14 response from the person we're going to
0:17 ask them a few questions and we might
0:19 actually even pinch their shoulders to
0:22 see if they'll respond hello can you
0:25 hear me what's your name squeeze my
0:28 hands this person is not responsive so
0:31 the next step is to send for help the
0:34 number in Australia to call Emergency
0:38 Services is 0 0 at this stage I would
0:40 also encourage as soon as bystander
0:44 support arrives for them to locate the
0:46 nearest defibrillator and get that over
0:49 to us as soon as possible next we're
0:51 going to check the person's
0:54 Airway we're going to tilt their head
0:58 back open up their Airway and check if
1:00 there's anything obstructing no
1:02 obstructions we're going to check if
1:05 this person is breathing so we're going
1:09 to look over the person's chest and what
1:12 we're looking for is that normal gentle
1:15 rise that our chest does when we're
1:17 breathing we're going to
1:20 listen for any sign of normal
1:23 breathing and we can also feel that
1:26 chest for any sign of breathing the
1:28 person is not responsive and they are
1:30 not breathing or they're not breathing
1:34 normally so we need to start
1:37 CPR to locate where we're going to place
1:40 our hands on the person's chest we can
1:42 go to their underarms with our pointer
1:46 fingers coming to the center of their
1:50 chest and then with the heel of our Palm
1:53 we're going to place the hand down
1:56 keeping our arm straight interlocking
2:00 our other arm leaning over the person's
2:10 push now we're actually going to push
2:12 hard and fast we're going to push about
2:15 a third of that person's depth of their
2:18 chest and we're going to also allow for
2:20 that chest to rise back to its normal
2:22 position now we're pushing at a beat of
2:37 if we're willing and able we can do
2:40 rescue breaths so to do a rescue breath
2:42 we're actually going to tilt the
2:46 person's head back pinch their nose open
2:50 up the airway and I would put my mouth
2:54 over the person's mouth forming a seal
2:56 and I would offer one
3:00 breath two breaths and then then I would
3:07 compressions now I'm getting a bit tired
3:09 so I'm going to get that bystander
3:11 support and I'm going to communicate
3:14 really clearly for a smooth Handover for
3:35 so I've just demonstrated how to do CPR
3:38 our next video will demonstrate how to
3:42 use a defibrillator don't forget CPR can
