0:03 Hi, my name is Greg Davis Plane. I'm the
0:05 executive director of London Southeast
0:07 Brmley and Cudden. I'm your executive
0:10 director. Any of you that know me uh
0:12 even slightly, let alone knowing me
0:13 well, will know that I have a huge
0:16 passion for member traffic lights. If I
0:18 had to point at one thing that's driven
0:20 the success and the incredible culture
0:23 in this region over the last decade, it
0:25 is our green club, which of course is
0:28 all based around you maxing out as much
0:31 of the good activities and behaviors
0:33 that guarantee you a really good return
0:36 from your BNI membership. And I'm
0:38 excited to say that come January, the
0:40 scoring of the member traffic lights has
0:43 been standardized around the globe.
0:45 We've looked at all different markets.
0:47 the things that they were tracking, the
0:49 scores that they had in place, and we've
0:53 taken the very best proven metrics that
0:54 if you put them in play in your
0:56 membership, they're going to offer you a
1:00 really good chance to get a return from
1:02 your investment. Not just a return, but
1:05 many multiples of return on investment.
1:07 So, I'm going to run through them now.
1:09 Uh here's a brief overview of what that
1:11 looks like. Don't worry about that too
1:12 much. I'm going to go through each
1:15 section. And the first one is a huge
1:17 huge cheering point for me. For the last
1:20 eight years, I've been lobbying that uh
1:22 visitors not only to your own chapter
1:23 should count for your traffic lights,
1:27 but also for chapters across the region
1:30 and the country and that is now the
1:32 case. I'll show you how to register them
1:34 later. We've also reduced the
1:37 expectation. So to max out visitor
1:39 points, previously you needed either 13
1:42 or 14 visitors in the six-month period.
1:46 Now you just need five to get a full 25
1:49 points. Even better than that, first
1:52 time visitors count, tick, second time
1:54 visitors count. So we know that when a
1:57 visitor comes back for a second look,
1:58 not only are they more likely to join
2:00 your group and become part of your
2:02 introduction force, but they're also
2:04 more likely to pass business in the
2:06 room. So we wanted to recognize that.
2:08 across the world. We've also seen great
2:11 examples of local dignitaries, whether
2:14 it be a politician or a mayor and local
2:17 business entrepreneurs and magnates such
2:20 as CEOs of large companies, adding huge
2:23 value to chapters when they visit. So
2:26 guests are now included. So someone who
2:28 couldn't join your chapter but still
2:31 adds value by being there. So, you will
2:35 need five in a six-month period to max
2:37 out the points in this section. The only
2:39 thing that doesn't count is substitutes
2:41 as always and members who wanted to
2:44 visit another chapter.
2:46 Remember, not only your own chapter, not
2:48 only the first time, but the second
2:51 time, but also chapters across BNI. And
2:53 I'll show you how to register those
2:55 going forward. It was a long battle. And
2:57 thank you for everyone that lobbyed for
2:59 this. It's an incredible achievement to
3:03 get that on the radar.
3:05 The next one we're going to look at is
3:08 the thank you for the business scoring.
3:09 Now, this was always a tricky one
3:11 because in the past, one person could
3:13 pass a single referral to a builder.
3:15 It'd be worth hundreds of thousands of
3:17 pounds and they would max out their
3:19 their thank you for the business score.
3:20 Adversely, someone could give a hundred
3:23 referrals to a local florist or a local
3:26 uh retail outlet and still not hit the
3:29 amount of business needed uh to max out
3:32 the traffic light scoring. So, they have
3:35 taken a um a level view on this. So, you
3:38 can get up to five points and it is done
3:43 based on a return multiple of a cost of
3:45 membership. All of the stats are there
3:47 in front of you. Uh so you can see um
3:51 how you start scoring points. But the
3:53 reason this was um was decided upon is
3:56 because in a lot of cases once a
3:59 referral leaves your hand
4:02 that is your job done. So generating the
4:05 referral is the activity that you can
4:08 put in place but actually closing that
4:10 into business or the value of that
4:14 business can vary massively. So a
4:16 balanced view was taken on the scoring
4:18 system for this one. So thank you for
4:21 the business that contributes up to five
4:23 points for your traffic light score. We
4:25 will of course still recognize those
4:28 high performing members that pass uh
4:30 multiples of millions of pounds worth of
4:32 business with our millionaire giver
4:35 pins. The next one we're going to look
4:38 at is the onetoone scoring system. So
4:42 oneto ones are absolutely key to your membership.
4:43 membership.
4:47 Uh and we know if you do one one to one
4:51 a week on average in your first year,
4:53 you are going to be passing and
4:55 receiving more than double the amount of
4:58 referrals than if you did one one to one
5:01 per month. And that is reflected here in
5:03 the traffic lights. So the onetoone
5:08 scoring has now doubled to 20. And um if
5:11 you're doing one one a week on average
5:14 over a rolling six-month period, you
5:16 will max out your points here on the
5:18 onetoone. We know that effective oneto
5:21 ones have a huge impact. We see it each
5:23 week at chapters. Those people that are
5:26 having the most oneto ons are passing
5:28 and receiving the most referrals because
5:29 they're getting to know their fellow
5:36 And here's the big one, referrals. We've
5:38 increased the points for referrals. This
5:41 is we are a referral organization. We
5:44 rise and fall on the qualities of
5:48 referrals and you can score up to 25
5:51 points for this. So, if you're passing
5:54 one and a quarter referral on average,
5:57 uh you will max out your points. And
5:59 what I love about this is that it can
6:01 these can be incredibly high value
6:04 monetary uh referrals. They can be high
6:06 volume referrals. So we can support
6:09 those people that need a high volume of
6:12 referrals uh but their cost uh per unit
6:15 is relatively low. We can add value to
6:17 their business by supporting them with
6:20 this. So you can now score up to 25
6:23 points with the amount of referrals and
6:26 1.25 referrals per week on average will
6:34 We also know that members that introduce
6:38 visitors that then turn into members
6:41 lean into their membership more. So we
6:44 see people uh portraying the behaviors
6:47 they want their sponsor uh the person
6:49 that they've sponsored in to mirror. And
6:51 for the first time ever, we have
6:55 allocated five points to joining new
6:57 members into your chapter or any chapter
7:00 across BNI in a six-month period. So,
7:03 you can now get five points for that. As
7:04 said, we know that this has a huge
7:07 impact not only on the member that you
7:10 introduce, but also your own membership.
7:12 It's almost like people up their game
7:14 when people they've introduced are
7:21 We've got a passion for lifelong
7:25 learning in BNI and CEUs will help uh
7:28 help us get more from our membership.
7:31 So, if you're logging one CU every two
7:35 weeks, um you will get your maximum
7:38 points for that and you will be able to
7:41 get up to 10 points for CUS. And these
7:43 can of course include courses on
7:45 business builder, uh podcasts,
7:48 workshops, both inline and in person, or
7:50 if you're upscaling yourself with things
7:53 like BNI books. All of these count
7:56 towards your scoring. Here
7:58 Here
8:00 is another triumph. Uh, a lot of members
8:02 have been calling for this one for a
8:05 long time. We know that attendance has
8:08 an impact on your reputation in the
8:10 room, but we also recognize that
8:14 sometimes stuff happens. So, you can get
8:18 up to 10 points for attending or um
8:22 providing a sub. And once in a six-month
8:24 period, if you have a flat tire in the
8:27 morning or if uh you have an illness
8:29 that comes on overnight, you are
8:34 permitted one unsubbed um absence
8:37 um unattended meeting where an emergency
8:41 has happened. Um and that won't impact
8:43 your traffic light score. allowing
8:45 people who are striving for perfect
8:49 scores not to be penalized um if an
8:52 emergency happens.
8:54 And finally, let's just give a an
8:56 overview. The bandings have remained
8:59 exactly the same. So, um less than 30
9:02 points, uh you will be down in the gray.
9:04 Uh above 30 and below 50, you'll be in
9:07 the red. Above 50 and below 70, you will
9:10 be in the amber. And above 70 points,
9:13 you will be in the green. Um, and the
9:15 way I'd love everyone to think about
9:19 this, our gray members are not
9:21 participating. They're not participating
9:22 in the meetings. They're not
9:24 participating in their fellow members
9:26 membership. But here's the thing,
9:28 they're not participating in the
9:30 membership that they have paid for. And
9:32 we need to help them lean into their
9:35 memberships as much as possible. We know
9:38 that our red members are participate uh
9:40 participants within their membership,
9:43 but they can be doing more to get a good
9:46 return out of their membership. We know
9:48 our Amber members can be some of our
9:50 very very most consistent contributors
9:53 and just with a little bit of direction,
9:55 maybe following some of the tips on this
9:57 video, uh they'll be able to step up
9:59 into the green because our green members
10:03 are are outstanding contributors. Um, I
10:05 believe that this uh the new traffic
10:08 light scoring system is a fair and representative
10:10 representative
10:12 um cross-section of all of the correct
10:14 activities that put in place in your
10:16 membership will guarantee you a really
10:20 good return. Uh at u at our highest
10:22 we've had just over 50% of our entire
10:24 regional membership in the green. I'd
10:28 love to see a 70%
10:33 uh in the green across the whole region.
10:35 So those are the new member traffic
10:36 lights that come in from January the
10:39 1st. So you will see a scoring system
10:41 change in the next lot of traffic lights
10:44 that go out. And I just want to tell you
10:47 how you can register uh a cross chapter
10:50 visitor should you have one. So uh on
10:52 your app you go to visitors which is
10:56 listed just there. Um you then um click
10:59 the visitor button. You then find the
11:01 region. Now please bear in mind that our
11:05 region is London Southeast and Brmley
11:06 and Cudden. So if your chapter's in
11:08 Brmley or Cudden, you'll be in Brmley
11:11 and Cudden. If you're London Southeast,
11:14 um you will be in the London Southeast
11:15 region. So that's in the Bose of
11:18 Beexley, uh Lewisham, Gwich, and Savoc.
11:21 The only exception to that are Prince
11:25 Imperial and Kaleidoscope who uh were
11:27 originally in the London Southeast
11:30 region and had to move venues. So they
11:33 are listed under London Southeast. Any
11:35 help you need with that just ask one of
11:38 your director consultants. Um and then
11:41 you just uh click the chapter and fill
11:44 out the details uh by registering that
11:47 visitor. As soon as the palms has been
11:48 completed and the visitor has been
11:52 allocated, you will get credit for that
11:55 for your traffic lights. Um just to make
11:58 sure um that that is a possibility for
12:00 you, make sure that your license version
12:04 is above that version of BNI connect. So 3.22.4.
12:06 3.22.4.
12:08 As long as you're higher than that, you
12:10 will definitely have the cross chapter
12:13 visitor option on there. For me, this is
12:18 an incredible um uh new refresh of the
12:21 member traffic lights. It recognizes
12:23 activities where people are embracing
12:24 givers gain, helping their fellow
12:27 members and chapters uh with growth.
12:29 We've had cross chapter referrals. We've
12:31 had cross chapter oneto ones and thank
12:33 you for the business for a long time.
12:35 We've never had cross chapter visitors.
12:37 So I'm very very happy that this is in
12:42 place. Um and also it recognizes that um
12:45 life sometimes gets in the way. So the
12:47 fact that we can have one absence in a
12:49 rolling six-month period and not be
12:53 penalized shows to me that um BNI and
12:56 the powers that be have listened to the
12:59 feedback and have acted upon it. Uh any
13:01 questions please reach out to your
13:03 direct consultants or to me personally
13:05 and we will happily help.
13:07 anything I can do to help you lean into
13:10 your membership and uh step way up from
13:14 gray, red, amber into the green and to a
13:16 100 point green member, please I insist
13:19 you reach out. Thank you very much. It
13:21 was an absolute pleasure to introduce
13:24 new global member traffic lights to you
13:27 and I am excited to get in the mix in 2026.
13:30 2026.
