0:12 couple of weeks ago had a bunch of
0:13 different pairs of headphones in that
0:15 video but this is an actual
0:17 recommendation and a good place to start
0:20 these are the gro sr80e part of the gro
0:22 Prestige series and overall part of a
0:24 pretty underrated brand plenty of people
0:26 haven't even heard of Gro but they are
0:28 quality so with these you can actually
0:30 think of them as an evolution of the s r
0:32 80i that I actually reviewed about 3
0:34 years ago they have this old school look
0:35 looks like something that should have a
0:37 tape player on the other end of it not
0:39 the prettiest thing in the world to some
0:41 but more of a Timeless classic to others
0:43 the cable is great it's a thick 4ft
0:45 straight cable that splits to connect to
0:46 both ears and the build of the
0:48 headphones themselves is really simple
0:50 you can tell where they saved money on
0:52 the build and put that in the audio
0:54 quality so a thin wire on the top with
0:55 this strip of leather to rest on top of
0:58 your head no real cushion here but then
0:59 again they are pretty lightweight so
1:01 they're comfortable without a huge
1:03 cushion and the foam pads on the
1:04 headphones themselves are removable and
1:06 I checked on Amazon there are
1:08 third-party foam pads that you can buy
1:10 or even leather ones that are softer or
1:12 thicker or even sound different but
1:14 these stock foam ones are on ear so they
1:16 just rest on your ear and sound good and
1:17 like I said this is a great first pair
1:19 of open B headphones for all the reasons
1:21 described in that explained video The
1:23 Sound Stage is wide the sound is
1:25 detailed and more natural and actually
1:27 think a tiny bit more balanced than
1:30 those sr80i the sound leak actually not
1:31 as bad as I remember so they're not like
1:33 many speakers on your head or anything
1:35 but if someone's sitting near you
1:36 they'll definitely be able to hear what
1:37 you're listening to and also since
1:39 they're open back not only does the
1:41 sound get out but sound also gets in so
1:43 the Ambient sound of your environment
1:45 will play a factor in your music or
1:46 whatever you're listening to but yeah
1:48 overall everything sounds really Punchy
1:49 and Rich and that all makes these a
1:51 great intro a great first pair of open
1:54 back headphones especially thanks to the
1:56 price these are all over the internet at
1:58 sub $100 and it's worth noting that
1:59 these also have a slightly less
2:01 expensive a little brother called the
2:03 sr60e they're only about 20 bucks less
2:05 than the sr80e so not really a whole lot
2:07 of reason to get them for big savings or
2:09 anything but they make for an even more
2:10 budget friendly option I'll link both of
2:12 them below so either way this handbuilt
2:14 pair of headphones is a great buy and a
2:16 pretty easy choice for a gift for
2:17 someone who's into audio or a future
2:20 audio file in your life or even yourself
