0:00 All
0:03 right. What's good everybody? Today
0:06 we'll be bringing you the spear fan
0:08 guide here. If you want to know the
0:11 tactics that I use, aka the sauce, hey,
0:13 today's [music] the day for you, buddy.
0:15 Now, this is not going to be a combo
0:18 guide. I've already done two videos on
0:19 combos. So, if that's what you're here
0:20 for, that's not what you're going to
0:22 get. Um, this is more so going to go
0:25 over the kind of little tactics I use in
0:27 the neutral game and, you know, how to
0:29 catch people and [music] things like that.
0:31 that.
0:34 Um, so that little brief intro out the
0:35 way, let's go ahead and just get right
0:38 into this.
0:40 All right, so the first thing that I
0:44 want to go over is the neutral game.
0:46 Specifically, the neutral game with the
0:48 fan. Um, in order to make this build
0:50 work, you really have to be good with
0:54 the fan to get some initiations going.
0:56 And I know one of the things that I have
0:58 seen from uh, you know, people in the
1:00 comments or whatnot or even in my live
1:04 streams is how am I landing my uppercut
1:05 so much?
1:08 Simple thing is conditioning.
1:10 Um, and I'll give plenty of
1:13 demonstrations of this, but the best way
1:16 to to land that uppercut is to condition
1:19 your opponent and to get them moving.
1:20 What I what I mean by that is you want
1:22 to get them dodging. You want to get
1:24 them trying to parry because meridian
1:27 touch will interrupt a dodge and it will
1:29 also interrupt parries. And if they're
1:30 in the middle of attack, it will likely
1:34 stagger them out of the attack as well.
1:36 Um, so the best way to do that is to
1:38 just throw some light attacks to get
1:40 them moving. And I'll show several
1:42 demonstrations of that here and what I'm
1:45 talking about and go from there. All
1:47 right. So, here you see me
1:48 [clears throat] going back away, throw
1:50 some light attacks out. I finally get
1:52 him dodging. So, here's where I go for
1:54 the meridian touch, catch him in the
1:55 middle of his dodge, and convert it to
1:57 uppercut into a combo. Um, now I will
1:59 say as you're throwing out those light
2:01 attacks and whatnot, you do want to mix
2:03 it up. You don't always want to do um
2:05 like one light attack into a merian
2:07 touch or two. Mix up the timings, keep
2:09 the opponent guessing, and keep them on
2:11 their toes. All right, here's example
2:12 number two. Notice how here when I'm
2:14 going to switch to my fan, I'm not going
2:17 to do the meridian touch uh immediately.
2:18 I'm going to see what his reaction is.
2:20 And I see that he like to dodge right
2:21 there. So, I'm going to eat up this
2:23 combo, pop my Serene Breeze, there goes
2:25 his. And I'm going to bring the fan back
2:27 out, hit him with a light attack cuz I
2:28 know he's going to dodge now. I go for
2:30 that Midian touch. And there it is.
2:33 stagger with combo.
2:34 So, you really want to pay attention to
2:36 your opponent's habits and whatnot in
2:39 order to uh make this work.
2:41 And another trick that I also do in
2:43 neutral while throwing out the lights,
2:45 if you don't want your opponent to get
2:46 any resources back, say if they're
2:48 dodging a lot and [music] you don't want
2:49 them to get their health back from that
2:52 dodge or any key back, you can also fake
2:54 out the light attacks but still kind of
2:56 show the animation to get them moving
2:58 and keep them on their toes and it'll it
3:00 will achieve the same thing. And then
3:02 you can, you know, mix in an attack to
3:04 then start to punish them. And I'll
3:36 Now remember, um, Meridian Touch not
3:38 only catches people dodging, but it also
3:40 catches people parrying. So see, if you
3:42 see somebody parrying your attacks like
3:44 that, immediately go into Meridian Touch
3:46 and you'll catch them. And if you think
3:48 that somebody's going to dodge cancel a
3:50 skill like so, Meridian Touch will also
3:52 catch catch them. Um, you want to try
3:53 and make those predictions so you can be
3:56 successful with it. Now, one thing with
3:59 uppercut, you can actually land uppercut
4:02 if you're predicting a dodge. Um, raw
4:04 arpercut can catch people out of dodges
4:07 and I'll demonstrate that here. Um, just
4:08 make sure you pay attention to the
4:10 opponent's pattern. So, if you see this
4:12 guy likes to block, dodge, block, dodge,
4:14 block, dodge. So, here I'm predict that
4:15 he's going to dodge again and I catch
4:17 him with the uppercut. And because of
4:18 that, I'm able to give him to this combo.
4:26 All right. So, here's going to be yet
4:28 another example of the conditioning here
4:30 at the start. going to throw some light
4:32 attacks. Once I see him parrying, I hit
4:33 that meridian touch and catch with
4:36 uppercut. But here, I go for the the
4:38 soaring spin predicting a serene breeze.
4:40 And that soaring spin will keep you
4:41 safe. So that is one thing you can do in
4:43 your arsenal. And I will show off more
4:46 of that a little bit later. Um, so in
4:47 the meantime, while I'm comboing, I'm
4:50 pretty sure that in my, you know, if you
4:52 seen my previous videos, you probably
4:54 heard me say, "Hey, here come here comes
4:57 the mixup." I usually do that after an
4:59 execute cuz there's many options you can
5:00 do after the execute if you set it up
5:02 correctly. And I'll go through that
5:04 here. So, here's going to be the first
5:07 mixup. Now, keep in mind we're doing
5:09 this mix up. Um, [music] you want to
5:11 really quick swap to that fan and
5:13 buffering the soaring spin. Um, cuz you
5:15 want to do that as soon as you can while
5:18 swapping. And this mixup will catch
5:20 anybody that's side dodging, forward
5:23 dodging, and it even catches back
5:26 dodges. And back dodges is is usually
5:28 the hardest uh dodge to punish, but this
5:30 will catch it. And I will demonstrate
5:57 Now, once you become pretty solid on
6:00 your mixups, um you will be able to
6:01 chain them together, and I'll
6:03 demonstrate that here. Um but with this
6:07 one in particular, when you're uh do the
6:08 pop the go in the body, you want to
6:09 flash the light attack and then
6:11 immediately go to that soaring spin. A
6:13 lot of times what these nameless spear
6:15 users users do, they wake up with the
6:17 stun and this will catch them doing
6:20 that. Although sometimes they can dodge
6:22 the storing spin, but you will be safe
6:48 All right. So, another thing with these
6:50 mixups when it comes to the toad
6:52 explosion, um, they're designed to work
6:54 perfectly with the explosion itself. So,
6:56 they they can assist you in reaching the
6:58 opponent. So, for example, with this
7:01 one, usually if you knock somebody down
7:03 with super armor while they're in or
7:04 knock somebody down with cloud step
7:06 while they have super armor, you can't
7:08 recombo off of that. But the toad
7:10 explosion happens right after the stomp
7:12 and that resets their grounded state,
7:13 allowing me to then pick back up with
7:37 And if you do go with the soaring spin
7:39 combo on wake up if somebody has that
7:42 nameless spear um you can also just
7:45 combo off of the soaring spin with the
7:47 um heaven quer spear cube. I think
7:49 that's what they call it on PC right? Am
7:51 I doing it right fellas? [laughter]
7:55 Aka the marshall skill. Um like so. And
8:18 >> Now the golden body into soaring spin.
8:20 Uh mixup will also work on somebody
8:23 that's waking up dodging, but you will
8:25 have to flicker the light attack after
8:28 the golden body uh before canceling it
8:29 with the soaring spin in order to get
8:31 the timing perfectly to catch the toad
8:51 Now, you can also do alternate variation
8:53 of the golden body by replacing the
8:55 soaring spin with meridian touch. And
8:58 that will work just the same. And it
9:00 will also catch um it will also keep you
9:02 safe from the nameless spirit stun. And
9:04 I'll demonstrate that in the following
9:07 clip uh right after this one. Um so
9:08 here's going to be the first one
9:09 catching that dodge. And the next one is
9:11 going to be me dodging the nameless
9:54 All right. So, those are going to be
9:55 your mixups. But here, I'm going to talk
9:58 about the fan dash attack with some
10:00 clips in the background. Fan dash attack
10:04 is very good. It causes a stagger and
10:06 allows you to combo up cut from it. It's
10:09 a very good uh surprising initiation
10:11 tool. A lot of people do not expect it.
10:13 I know if you're on controller, you can
10:14 kind of do it somewhat instantly. If
10:16 you're on PC, I can't help you out
10:18 there. And another trick with the dash
10:19 tag, um, if I hit somebody with a fan
10:22 wall like so, dash tack is a really good
10:23 option on a fan wall to catch them and
10:24 then go through the wall without cut to
10:27 recash like so. So, that's one thing you
10:28 want to kind of put in your arsenal
10:30 there. It's not going to work 100% of
10:31 the time, but it's a very good option
10:34 for you.
10:35 All right, here I'm going to briefly go
10:37 over the guard counter and the option
10:38 you can do out of that. A lot of
10:40 people's first reaction out of guard
10:41 counter once you hit them with it is to
10:43 dodge. So, what I like to do sometimes
10:45 is go right into meridian touch after I
10:47 landed. You can even do this if you have
10:48 the spare out. You will just have to
10:50 quick swap to the fan real quick and
10:52 then go into your meridian touch and you
10:53 will still catch them. But this is a
10:56 solid option out of a um guard counter
10:58 for you.
11:00 All right. So, if you have been ever
11:02 seen my videos or even tuned it to a
11:04 live stream, you may know that [music] I
11:06 really do not like the strat sword. All
11:08 right. [laughter] That's a horrible
11:11 matchup. The dash is so safe. They can
11:12 cancel it with anything and it's low
11:14 endurance cost. So, I have been working
11:16 on a few counters to dealing with that.
11:19 Here is the first one. If they go for
11:20 that uppercut swing, they usually cancel
11:23 it with a par cancel. If your spacing is
11:24 right, you can hit them with a guard
11:27 counter and uh counter with that. But
11:30 that's very risky to go for. The second
11:32 one here is since they usually like to
11:34 dodge cancel, you can go for a meridian
11:35 touch when you think they're going to
11:36 dodge cancel and you will catch them out
11:39 of their uh dodge cancel like so and get
11:42 them into a combo. But those are be be
11:44 aware that those are very risky counters
11:46 to go for. It's not always going to work
11:48 100% of time. So use them at your own risk.
11:57 All right. Here I want to briefly go
12:00 over my usage of the spear. Now I really
12:04 only use the spear as mainly a defensive
12:06 weapon. Now it's not going to be 100% of
12:09 the time, but it's mainly going to be uh
12:11 defensively that I use it to catch
12:13 people out of things such as the strat
12:15 sword dash if somebody has a gap in
12:18 their combo. It even stuffs out the
12:20 nameless spear stun if they if you think
12:21 they're going to go for it and you use
12:22 the silver sorrow, it would even stuff
12:25 that out like so. Um, so I mainly try to
12:28 use that defensively, but in cases where
12:29 I use it offensively, that's where the
12:31 dash tag comes in. The dash attack is
12:33 very good. Um, you can also chase people
12:35 down with it like so if you're good at
12:37 chaining them and it will catch and you
12:39 will get a nice combo off of that. It
12:41 has a pretty deceptive reach as well. So
12:43 do not be afraid to throw that out there
12:46 and to use that to try and catch people.
12:47 All right, so that is going to be the
12:49 guide. Um, really quickly before I get
12:51 the questions about what am I using as
12:54 well, I'll go ahead and show what I run
12:56 with this setup or what I've been
12:58 running. You know, feel free to pause it
12:59 at, [music] you know, and read through
13:01 the attributes if you want to do all
13:03 that, but I'm using the calm water set
13:11 And for my inner waves, I have the wolf
13:13 chasers art, [music] evasive charge,
13:16 vital leech, and fury harvest.
13:18 And for my mystic skills, this is what I
13:20 run. No poet, [music] no dragon's
13:21 breath. If you're going to run this
13:24 build, run it the right way and make
13:25 sure you do that. No poet, no dragon's
13:26 breath. [music] We don't need that
13:29 [ __ ] All right, buddy.
13:32 But hopefully this may have helped you
13:33 out. I know some of you have tried this
13:35 build out told me that, hey man, you
13:37 swapped off cuz it wasn't working out
13:39 for you. [laughter]
13:40 So maybe you'll come back to the build
13:42 and try it out and, you know, [music]
13:46 have better success with it. And if this
13:47 has helped you out, let me know down
13:48 below. Make sure you hit that like
13:50 button on the way out. Hit that sub
13:52 button for me as well, buddy. And I'll
