0:02 Hey David, what were your favorite songs
0:04 this year? Also, I hope you have a very
0:07 merry Christmas and a happy new year.
0:09 >> Thank you, Peter. Merry Christmas.
0:11 People are consistently asking me, "Hey,
0:13 what are your top 40 songs? What are
0:14 your top 40 songs?" I'm It's It's
0:16 getting to a point where I'm being
0:17 stopped in public. I'm trying to go
0:19 about my day-to-day life and people are
0:22 just stopping me when when I'm in my
0:23 business. I was in the drive-thru the
0:24 other day. I was like, "Can I get a Big
0:26 Mac?" They said, "Can we get a big
0:28 list?" I said, "Fine." the top 40 songs
0:30 that I've heard this year. All right,
0:31 I'm going to be picking all different
0:33 artists here just so the list isn't like
0:35 just six different people. I'm not going
0:37 to be doing an album video because I
0:39 have not heard enough. The albums that I
0:41 enjoyed most are in this list anyways
0:43 and I'll be talking about those. So,
0:45 okay. If you're new to the channel, feel
0:46 free to like and subscribe if you want
0:47 to. All right. I'll be doing a lot of
0:49 work here in 2026. So, it's going to be
0:51 a busy busy year. Coming in at 40, I got
0:52 underscores with Do It. This is the
0:55 first underscore song I ever heard. So,
0:57 I'm I'm I'm late to the party for sure,
0:59 but I like this song a lot. Very quirky
1:02 production. I loved her vocals on here.
1:04 I feel like I'm missing out for sure. I
1:06 mean, she I I know she had a record back
1:08 in 2023.
1:10 Three three was it? It was the It was
1:13 the shoe I saw cuz I I got to hear more.
1:15 This was great. Uh super infectious
1:19 song. Next, I have Always Were by Joanne
1:22 Robertson and Oliver Coats um off of her
1:25 record Blur. I was stunned to learn that
1:26 she had an album in the first place
1:28 because I I didn't know that she did
1:31 [ __ ] outside of Dean Blunt's Black Metal
1:33 Records. I thought that he just kept her
1:34 in a cage and then brought her out
1:35 whenever he needed her. You know, I was
1:37 pleasantly surprised by, you know, this
1:39 song and a couple other songs off here.
1:41 I didn't get to hear the entire thing.
1:44 Uh but yeah, very melancholic and
1:46 depressing. You know, really, really
1:48 soul crushing track. Next, I have Earl
1:50 Sweatshirt with Exhaust. This was the
1:52 outro off of Live, Laugh, Love. I really
1:54 [ __ ] with how this album closed out,
1:56 especially because of all that Earl went
1:58 through. I think hearing him on a track
1:59 like this just made me feel, you know,
2:01 really good. I love his vocals on here.
2:03 I I think the production is super clean.
2:04 Just such a just such a heartwarming
2:06 track from him. Next, I got Billy Woods
2:08 with Misery. It was a It was a tough
2:11 time picking a track off uh this album
2:12 by him cuz each song is just so
2:14 terrifying and so many different ways,
2:16 but I got to go with Misery here. Really
2:18 chilling produ Wow, really chilling
2:20 production and I don't know, it just
2:21 kind of speaks to me. Next, I got Fred
2:23 again, Skept Max with the victory lap.
2:25 No joke. I think this is a banger. All
2:26 right, I'm just gonna keep it there. All
2:27 right, I think Skept I think Skeptic
2:28 goes crazy here. Next up, I got Dean
2:31 Blunt and Elias Ronenfelt. Sorry if I'm
2:33 pronouncing the name wrong. I apologize.
2:35 Tears on Rings and Clothes. I think
2:37 Elias vocals on here are super strong.
2:39 Plus, it has that Dean Blunt magic
2:41 behind that production. So, just a great
2:43 track. Next, I got Back to Friends by
2:46 Somber. Um, I I'm not really a Somber
2:49 head, to be honest. Um, every every
2:51 other song that I' I've happened to hear
2:54 by him, I hasn't really stuck with me.
2:56 I'm just not really moved by him in
2:58 general, but I I this song is I think is
3:00 just undeniably good. His vocal
3:02 harmonies on here are super strong. I I
3:04 like the production. It's great. I don't
3:05 know. Next, I have a track by Naked
3:06 Flame. Shout out to Naked Flames.
3:09 Dropped a six-hour album this year. Uh,
3:12 I've only heard a small fraction of it.
3:13 Undisputed Attitude. I think it's a
3:15 banger. All right. Lot of lot of crazy
3:16 [ __ ] jam-packed into here. I love the
3:19 sample usage. Next, I got a track off of
3:20 Turquoise Death's record. Shout out to
3:22 Turquoise Death, who actually watches
3:24 the channel. Dropped a super solid drum
3:25 and bass record this year, but I think
3:27 it's it's it's so much more than that.
3:29 Him and someone exfalls collaborated on
3:31 a track. I I I don't know if that's your
3:32 name, bro. Collaborated on a track
3:33 called Voyager. This happened to be my
3:35 favorite one off the record, but I
3:36 honestly could have picked any track off
3:38 here. Next, I got Icho Aoba with
3:40 Lucifer. I think that's how it's
3:41 pronounced. I don't know. I could be I
3:42 could be wrong, but you know, typical
3:44 typical Ichi Koyoba experience making
3:46 you feel like you're levitating and
3:49 weightless. So, this is just a just a
3:50 great track. I feel like there's so much
3:52 substance here. Next, I got a song off
3:53 the Quad Deca record, which everyone has
3:55 been raving about this year. I got a at
3:58 a time like this, um, I like this track.
4:00 I love the way it starts off immediately
4:03 crazy. Um, I the production here is is
4:07 super super just mindbending and it's
4:08 just awesome. Just an awesome track and
4:11 I love how it looks in the film music
4:13 video as well. Next, I got Infinite
4:15 Source by Def Tones. This is just such a
4:17 solid record and return to form by these
4:19 guys. To me, this was the banger of the
4:20 record. I think the chorus here on this
4:22 song is incredible. Really reminds me of
4:25 some [ __ ] from [ __ ] Co Yokoon. So,
4:26 just this was just a great time. I
4:28 really [ __ ] with this song. Next, I got
4:30 Burial with Koma Fields. Listen, man. If
4:32 you know if it's Burial, I'm there. So,
4:34 I I wasn't surprised when I heard this
4:35 and I knew I was going to like it and I
4:38 did. just more more peak from burial.
4:40 Man, this is just a great great song. I
4:41 only heard a couple songs off the
4:42 Natalyia Laforcade record. I think
4:44 that's how you pronounce her name. I
4:46 don't know. Uh Canera, but the title
4:48 track off that record was beautiful. I'm
4:51 way too late to the whole experience. I
4:52 got to I got to I got to catch up. But [laughter]
4:53 [laughter]
4:54 uh that song was just incredible. I love
4:56 how intimate it felt. Next, I got
4:58 Automatic Love by Nourished by Time. I'm
4:59 not going to lie. I just heard the song
5:01 for the first time like 3 days ago. But
5:03 uh I've been listening to it non-stop.
5:05 Talk about another record I think I'm
5:07 missing out on this year because the
5:10 kind of wonky and eerie production in
5:13 the beginning going into a very no dream
5:15 poppy [ __ ] state. I think it just
5:16 flows together so well and I love I love
5:20 how he says deja vo. Next I have a song
5:21 off the Ethel Kane record which I have
5:24 missed out on but um I do know Nettles
5:26 which is kind of being praised as the
5:28 song off the record and you know it
5:29 deserves all the praise because just so
5:31 such a beautiful track. Why the [ __ ]
5:32 does my computer sound like a car engine
5:38 You hear that? My god. Next, I got a
5:40 track off the Candal Labro record. I'm
5:42 pronouncing these wrong. I'm sorry, but
5:45 um De Cara. All right. The vocal
5:47 performances on this track blow me away
5:49 and the batshit crazy instrumental
5:51 through after the second half of the
5:53 song. Really just blow my mind. All
5:54 right. So, this was just a such a great
5:56 ride. Next, I got Magdalene Bay with
5:57 Second Sleep. when I was going into all
6:00 these singles, you know, I I I wasn't
6:02 expecting to hear anything on the same
6:04 quality as Imaginal disc. So, imagine my
6:06 surprise when I when I heard Second
6:10 Sleep and it was it was peak. So, I I I
6:12 don't know how they keep consistently
6:15 beating my ass, beating my ears. Uh but
6:16 this this was just it's such a good
6:17 song. I don't know how to pronounce the
6:19 track off the [ __ ] Mara record. >> Certa
6:20 >> Certa
6:22 >> that love the song on the album. It's
6:23 such a beautiful change of pace. I love
6:25 this uh saxophone. What that's doing? I
6:27 think it's a saxophone. Uh his vocals
6:29 and his lyrics are super beautiful,
6:31 super meaningful, just a great song.
6:32 Such a great song. And it's just it's
6:34 such a good song to sing along to when
6:35 you're in the car with. Next, I got
6:37 Playboy Cardi with Crank. This was a
6:39 this was the banger on the album for me.
6:41 So, we're going with this one. Not too
6:45 much notes here. Top 20. Top 20. Um this
6:46 is like this is like the fifth time
6:48 saying I haven't heard the whole record.
6:50 I I am yet to hear the entire Rosalier
6:52 record, but I had I I just I couldn't
6:55 wait to hear Berg Hane because I saw
6:56 Eve's Tumor and Burek and I was like,
6:58 "Holy [ __ ] I got to hear that." And it
7:01 was nothing. It was nothing like how I
7:02 thought it was going to sound. Classical
7:04 joint. It was like she's speaking
7:06 German, Spanish, [snorts] and then it's
7:09 it's also English because of Burk. And
7:10 the meaning of the song from what I got
7:12 from the music video is that she's dying
7:13 or something. I don't know. I didn't
7:15 translate the lyrics. I don't know what
7:16 it's about, but it's just like the
7:19 chorus on that [ __ ] just goes so crazy.
7:22 And um I don't know, man. But just the
7:24 strings on here, I I don't know. I don't
7:26 know like how she even did this. I don't
7:29 know that she was the type to go into
7:31 this lane. Um I I didn't even know this
7:33 lane was still, you know, really a
7:34 thing. You know, this this really sounds
7:36 so cinematic, like it should be in a
7:37 [ __ ] movie. I feel like I've heard it
7:39 before. Next, I got to chalk off Blood
7:41 Orange's record, Essex Honey, which uh I
7:42 like this record a lot. It's not my
7:44 favorite blood orange record, but I
7:45 think it's super strong here. The
7:47 features did their thing on this.
7:48 Countryside is definitely my favorite
7:50 track off the record. I think the guitar
7:52 work on here was incredible. The
7:54 background vocals are amazing. And yeah,
7:56 it's just an instant dopamine hit
7:57 whenever I listen to this song. So, next
7:59 I got Pink Panther S with Stateside. I
8:01 don't know what it is with this song.
8:03 Some of it just sounds so familiar. I
8:05 don't know what song it kind of calls
8:09 from. Uh such a catchy catchy song. So,
8:10 I'm big I'm big on this song. I'm big on
8:12 her. Next, I got Low Tech with Dark
8:14 Thoughts. Yep, I'm dead ass. Next, I got
8:17 the outro off the Djon record. This was
8:19 just incredible. I I love the production
8:20 on this album from start to finish, but
8:23 this song really is just so intoxicating
8:24 with the guitar work and the way his
8:26 vocals are just kind of sewed into the
8:28 track. Next, I got Joji with Pass Won't
8:30 Leave My Bed. This feels like a massive
8:33 return to form from him. I was enjoying
8:34 this. I'm super satisfied that he's back
8:36 here. I don't know where the [ __ ] bro
8:38 was. I don't know where he went, but
8:40 it's good to see him back. Next, I got a
8:41 track from the Justin Bieber record. If
8:43 you know me, you know that I loved that
8:44 album. Although there were some dull
8:46 moments. I think the most majority of it
8:47 was super strong. I don't know. I was
8:48 just really feeling that when it
8:51 released. But I think the title track is
8:52 my favorite off the record. It's just so
8:54 catchy and I just it stuck in my head
8:56 till this day. So, that's a good one. I
8:58 got Storm Show from 10 Tricks Point
9:00 Never. It's amazing how how busy of a
9:02 year he's having with Tranquilizer and
9:05 the Marty Supreme score. So, I'm excited
9:06 to see that movie, which I'm seeing
9:08 tomorrow. I really don't have a specific
9:10 favorite off this record. For now, it's
9:11 going to be Storm Show, but I feel like
9:13 it could go either or just the way this
9:14 record is, it's more per I I prefer it
9:17 more as a, you know, a whole entire
9:18 listening experience rather than me
9:20 picking out a song as I like that I do
9:22 from other records. But yeah, no, this
9:24 dude is a synth wizard. Um, every song
9:25 in here back toback was just
9:27 mind-blowing. This one really is just
9:28 kind of sticking with me the mo most
9:30 right now. I don't know how he does this
9:32 [ __ ] with since, man. I I I I feel like
9:37 a piece of [ __ ] Next, I got my girl um
9:40 how do I stutter on N? Who does that? Um
9:43 next I got my girl Ninja Gerachi with
9:44 Delete. Love the way this song is paced.
9:46 Love the playful lyrics. I think it's
9:48 super fun. It's just just an amazing
9:50 song and her vocals on it are probably
9:52 the best I I on the record. I think the
9:54 production has some really high moments
9:56 on this song as well. So, I'm loving it.
9:57 I'm loving it. Next, I got IA off the
9:59 clips record. This is easily my favorite
10:01 song off of here. The way Fel starts off
10:04 that song and kicks it off is just I I
10:05 never get tired of it. This track just
10:06 feels, you know, like foot on the pedal
10:08 from start to finish. I just love it so
10:09 much. I don't know why. And it's just a
10:11 production is just it's just so
10:14 dramatic. Top 10. Yay. I I got Mac
10:16 Miller with Stoned. The record was made
10:18 years ago and this song was as well, but
10:20 I feel like it's it's just so
10:21 underrated. It should be talked about
10:22 more, especially a song like this
10:24 because it just feels so classic Mac.
10:26 Miller, I feel like it should be way
10:28 more way more popular than it is. The
10:30 guitar work on the on the chorus of this
10:33 song is just so nice. It's so smooth.
10:35 This song is just a buttery and uh yeah,
10:36 I can't get enough of this one. Next, I
10:38 got Tower the Creator with Sugar on My
10:40 Tongue part. I thought Don't Tap the
10:42 Glass was pretty good, you know. But
10:43 this song really blew me away. I feel
10:44 like this would be one of the best
10:45 songs, if not the best song on
10:47 Chromacopia if it was released on there.
10:49 You know, this song alongside Nokia.
10:51 Wait, Nokia? I [ __ ] I forgot about
10:52 Nokia, bro. I forgot about Nokia. Nokia
10:54 would be on this list like top 15. I I
10:56 really feel like we're just in a state
10:58 with mainstream hip-hop where artists
11:00 are going into more dance songs because
11:01 I think I think people just want to
11:03 dance. And of course, they're breathing
11:06 from my humps, you know? It's I I like
11:07 how I like how you pulled it from that
11:09 song. One second. I'm getting a boss call.
11:11 call. Hello.
11:13 Hello.
11:15 Oh, what's that? Oh, we are using the
11:17 Cameron Winter record from last year.
11:19 That qualifies. Well, I'll tell them.
11:21 Thank you. Since the Carnegie Hall
11:22 performance, this record has kind of
11:24 been revived. So, I'm reviving it
11:26 myself. I'm going with Drinking Age. All
11:28 right. From Heavy Metal. I don't know
11:29 what else I can say about Cameron Winter
11:31 that hasn't been said in 2025, so I'll
11:32 keep it brief, but this was just
11:35 incredible. I love the part when he goes
11:37 off the record. So, that's my favorite
11:38 moment off off the from the year. Next,
11:40 I got Freddy Gibbs, The Alchemist with
11:42 Shanganger. Uh, this is this is one of
11:44 my albums of the year. It would be top
11:46 three. I was going to do Gast Sushi
11:48 1995, but this this is the one that
11:50 really clicks with me the most. Just the
11:53 way it starts off. Insane. So chill, so
11:56 crazy. Plus, Gibbs' flow on here is so
11:58 nuts. I just love everything about this
12:00 song. At six, I got Jane Remover's Dream
12:03 Flasher. This is an anthem for sure.
12:05 This is just such such a banger of a
12:07 song. Whenever whenever I go to listen
12:10 to it and relisten to it, I always end
12:12 up being surprised with how much I like
12:15 it more than than um more than how much
12:17 I did before. Uh this just this track
12:19 continues to grow in me. I think it's
12:20 definitely the best off of Revenge
12:22 Seekers and this and you could just tell
12:24 there's so much effort and detail being
12:26 being put in into the production here
12:27 and the vocals and the chorus is just so
12:30 catchy and so funny. So, this is this is
12:32 great. Top five. Top five. I got first
12:34 up, I got Panda Bear with Anywhere but
12:36 here. Incredible record from Panda Bear.
12:38 I love the guitar work on this song
12:41 specifically. It's just so devastating
12:43 and the way the way it progresses just
12:46 kills me. Uh, his vocal harmonies on
12:48 here are so fantastic. And the little
12:51 girl I is that his daughter? Someone
12:52 told me it was someone told me it was
12:55 his daughter in the little interlude
12:58 parts of the song speaking Portuguese.
12:59 Feel like whenever I listen to this
13:00 song, I'm just transported to a
13:02 completely completely different world.
13:04 And uh, yeah, this is just such a
13:07 banger. Next, I got FakeMink. Uh, love
13:09 Fmink Fever. I got to say, I think right
13:12 now Fakem is the most important person
13:16 in the music industry. Um, real real
13:18 gamechanging [ __ ] being done by fake in
13:20 2025. It was hard picking a song, but uh
13:22 this is just it's this is like crack.
13:25 Next, I got a track from Geese. Uh, how
13:28 do uh plays cocaine. I know it's the
13:29 most popular song off the record. I
13:31 don't give a [ __ ] This might be my
13:33 favorite songwriting from Cameron period
13:35 from Geese. Um, I think that the little
13:38 vocal moment on the song when he says,
13:39 "You can still choose me." When his
13:41 voice gets like raspy for a second, like
13:42 that moment on the song really just
13:45 kills me. plus the music video with the
13:46 baby. I mean, come on. That that was
13:48 that that was cute. But yeah, I cannot
13:50 wait to see where this band continues to
13:52 go. Uh the direction that they've been
13:55 in is just so insane, and I'm glad that
13:56 they're finally getting the recognition
13:57 that they deserve. Next, I got a track
13:59 from The Weekend's record, Hurry Up
14:00 Tomorrow. My favorite track personally
14:02 is my Niagara Falls. I love the way the
14:04 vocal sample was is being mixed and cut
14:06 up into the song. Plus, it has such a
14:08 legendary transition into the next song.
14:10 The synth work on here is incredible.
14:11 The production is amazing. really feels
14:13 like some of the weekend's best stuff.
14:15 Really? Number one, I got Cali man from
14:17 SDK and Rico Ace. Just it's so
14:20 undeniable. It's just so This is just so
14:22 good. This is just so good. There's just
14:23 something here. There's something
14:25 special going on here. Yeah. This This
14:26 is like This is like lightning in a
14:28 [ __ ] bottle. You know what I mean?
14:30 This is just It's just crazy work. So,
14:31 I've just never heard a rapper sound
14:33 like this. I've just never heard a
14:35 rapper sound like this. It's just so
14:38 new. It's so refreshing. Uh, and I'm
14:40 looking forward to see where he goes in
14:42 2026 with this sound to be honest. I
14:44 think everything on here has just been
14:46 quality so far. And to me, it's just so
14:47 impressive how he can, you know, do
14:49 these big films like Marty Supreme and,
14:51 you know, be be a rapper at the same
14:53 time, you know? I find that incredible.
