0:08 where police have previously shown off
0:10 patrol cars made by Ferrari and
0:12 Lamborghini. There's a new law
0:14 enforcement officer in town, one that
0:16 might attract as many selfies as it does
0:19 deter wouldbe criminals. Might. The
0:21 nation's first patrol robot is said to
0:24 be fully automated. It has AI technology
0:26 and face recognition capability that
0:28 might raise privacy concerns in other
0:30 places, but it's part of the Emirates
0:32 expansion into automating its emergency
0:35 services. This robot is probably not
0:37 designed to run people down and make
0:39 arrests. But the one that's assisting
0:41 firefighters is reportedly equipped to
0:44 tackle threatening and dangerous jobs.

0:50 might be obstacles to firefighters in
0:53 full gear. Plus, it can spray more than
0:55 600 gallons of water per minute. That's
0:58 the amount of fire hoses used to combat
1:00 large industrial fires. Reuters News
1:02 reports that this thing has been used in
1:04 actual fires since the start of the
1:05 year. And Dubai's government has
1:07 indicated that this is just the
1:09 beginning of robots roles in public services.
1:22 delivering Monday's edition of your
1:24 nonpartisan source for news and world
1:26 events. I'm Carl Isus and this is the
1:28 world from A to Z. It's great to be
1:30 starting a new week with you. One big
1:32 story we're following involves a major
1:35 change to a major part of US President
1:37 Donald Trump's trade policy. Shortly
1:39 after he took office, he enacted
1:41 additional tariffs, taxes on imported
1:43 products and materials from dozens of
1:45 other countries. The Trump
1:47 administration says these tariffs helped
1:49 secure better trade deals for America,
1:51 brought in tens of billions in revenue
1:53 for the federal government, and
1:55 increased investments in manufacturing
1:58 inside the US. Critics say they weren't
1:59 necessary and that they strained
2:01 relationships with other countries,
2:04 increased cost for importers, and caused
2:06 prices to rise. On Friday, the Supreme
2:08 Court ruled that the White House didn't
2:10 have the authority to put the additional
2:12 tariffs in place, that it would have
2:14 needed more involvement from Congress.
2:16 President Trump criticized the ruling,
2:18 and over the weekend, he used a
2:20 different kind of power to put a tariff
2:23 of 15% on all imports. For several
2:25 countries, that's a lot lower than what
2:28 it was before the Supreme Court ruling.
2:29 There are some big questions going
2:31 forward. Will the government have to
2:33 refund the additional tariffs collected
2:35 before the ruling? What happens to the
2:37 international trade deals made before
2:40 the ruling? And will any of this have a
2:42 significant impact on consumer prices?
2:44 Experts say there's uncertainty about
2:46 all of it.

3:09 >> The city could see 2 feet of snow by

3:14 hour overnight, creating white out

3:32 the coast could see widespread flooding

3:37 Several states have now declared a state
3:39 of emergency, including parts of New
3:41 York and all of New Jersey.
3:45 >> The entire state of New Jersey, all 21
3:48 counties, is under a blizzard warning

4:34 ALL OF THESE PLACES HAVE HOSTED the
4:36 Olympics before, but the first one to
4:38 hold the winter games was the village of
4:41 Lake Placid, New York.
4:44 Lake Placid hosted the games in 1932 and
4:47 again in 1980 when the so-called Miracle
4:49 on Ice took place. That's when the US
4:51 men's hockey team shocked the dominant
4:54 Soviet Union 4 to3. The game played
4:56 during the Cold War was one of the
4:58 biggest upsets in sports history. The
5:01 Americans went on to win the gold medal,
5:03 but they didn't repeat that feat until
5:06 Sunday when Jack Hughes scored the
5:08 game-winning goal in overtime to lift
5:11 Team USA over Canada 2 to1. That win
5:14 came exactly 46 years after the US beat
5:16 the Soviets and three days after Megan
5:19 Keller scored the game-winning goal in
5:22 overtime to lift the US women's team 2
5:25 to1 over Canada. The US won 12 golds and
5:28 33 medals overall in this year's winter

5:52 1830s, Texans had been fighting for
5:54 independence from Mexico, and some early
5:56 battles forced Mexican troops to
5:59 retreat. But on this day in 1836,
6:02 Mexican forces under General Santa Anna
6:04 attacked and laid siege to the Alamo
6:06 mission compound, killing nearly all of
6:08 the Texan volunteers guarding the
6:11 fortress. Remember, the Alamo became a
6:13 rallying cry for Texans. And under
6:15 General Sam Houston, they later defeated
6:18 and captured Santa Ana, and Texas became
6:22 an independent republic. In 1945, one of
6:24 the most iconic images of World War II

6:32 days earlier, they'd stormed the tiny
6:34 island south of Japan, and a fierce
6:36 battle began, causing tens of thousands
6:39 of casualties on both sides. The US
6:41 declared victory a month later, and the
6:43 men who shot the photo went on to win a

7:45 range, the Boyaka economy relies largely
7:47 on agriculture, growing crops like

9:25 If you've long wondered who'd win a
9:27 staring contest between an ostrich and a
9:29 giraffe, and who hasn't, you're welcome.
9:31 This is not a still photo. It's video of
9:33 two long- necked neighbors at the
9:35 Memphis Zoo locking eyes and staying
9:37 that way. What made them do it? What
9:39 made them keep staring for so long, and
9:41 what they were thinking are lost to
9:43 mystery. But it does appear the giraffe
9:45 finally flinched first, turning its head
9:47 to the side. A lot of folks stared this
9:49 down on social media. It got more than
9:53 44,000 likes. The bird was like, "Maybe
9:54 you're not so giraffable." Well, the
9:56 mammal thought, "You think you'll win?
9:58 That's ostrich. Just stick your neck out
10:00 and put your pupils where your beak is,
10:01 cuz I don't need to crane my neck or
10:03 keep an eye out for a worthy opponent. I
10:04 ain't chewing the cud when I say I leave
10:07 everybody stareyed in a neckand-neck
10:10 contest when I fix my retinwome."
10:12 Hey, is that aacia? And the ostrich was
10:13 like, "Yeah, who's the bird brain now?"
