0:02 To my great fellow Americans, I am
0:04 filled with grief and anger at the
0:07 heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk on
0:11 a college campus in Utah. Charlie
0:13 inspired millions. And tonight, all who
0:16 knew him and loved him are united in
0:20 shock and horror. Charlie was a patriot
0:23 who devoted his life to the cause of
0:25 open debate and the country that he
0:27 loved so much, the United States of
0:30 America. He fought for liberty,
0:32 democracy, justice, and the American
0:34 people. He's a martyr for truth and
0:37 freedom. And there has never been anyone
0:40 who was so respected by youth.
0:44 Charlie was also a man of deep, deep
0:47 faith. And we take comfort in the
0:49 knowledge that he is now at peace with
0:52 God in heaven. Our prayers are with his
0:56 wife Erica, the two young beloved
0:58 children, and his entire family who he
1:01 loved more than anything in the world.
1:04 We ask God to watch over them in this
1:07 terrible hour of heartache and pain.
1:10 This is a dark moment for America.
1:13 Charlie Kirk traveled the nation
1:15 joyfully engaging with everyone
1:19 interested in good faith debate. His
1:21 mission was to bring young people into
1:23 the political process, which he did
1:28 better than anybody ever, to share his
1:30 love of country and to spread the simple
1:34 words of common sense. On campuses
1:36 nationwide, he championed his ideas with
1:40 courage, logic, humor, and grace. It's
1:43 long past time for all Americans and the
1:46 media to confront the fact that violence
1:49 and murder are the tragic consequence of
1:52 demonizing those with whom you disagree
1:55 day after day, year after year in the
1:57 most hateful and despicable way
2:00 possible. For years, those on the
2:02 radical left have compared wonderful
2:05 Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the
2:08 world's worst mass murderers and
2:11 criminals. This kind of rhetoric is
2:14 directly responsible for the terrorism
2:17 that we're seeing in our country today,
2:21 and it must stop right now.
2:23 My administration will find each and
2:25 every one of those who contributed to
2:28 this atrocity and to other political
2:30 violence, including the organizations
2:33 that fund it and support it, as well as
2:36 those who go after our judges, law
2:39 enforcement officials, and everyone else
2:42 who brings order to our country. From
2:44 the attack on my life in Butler,
2:46 Pennsylvania last year, which killed a
2:48 husband and father, to the attacks on
2:51 ICE agents, to the vicious murder of a
2:53 healthc care executive in the streets of
2:56 New York, to the shooting of House
2:58 Majority Leader Steve Scaliz and three
3:01 others. Radical left political violence
3:04 has hurt too many innocent people and
3:08 taken too many lives. Tonight, I ask all
3:10 Americans to commit themselves to the
3:12 American values for which Charlie Kirk
3:16 lived and died. The values of free
3:19 speech, citizenship, the rule of law,
3:22 and the patriotic devotion and love of
3:25 God. Charlie was the best of America,
3:27 and the monster who attacked him was
3:30 attacking our whole country. An assassin
3:33 tried to silence him with a bullet, but
3:35 he failed. because together we will
3:38 ensure that his voice, his message, and
3:40 his legacy will live on for countless
3:43 generations to come. Today, because of
3:46 this heinous act, Charlie's voice has
3:49 become bigger and grander than ever before,
3:50 before,
3:53 and it's not even close. May God bless
3:56 his memory. May God watch over his
3:59 family, and may God bless the United
