0:03 hello everyone here are ways to protect
0:05 yourself when using the whatnot app now
0:07 for those who don't know what not is
0:09 what not and I just grab this off of
0:11 their social media page as well as the
0:13 App Store a social marketplace where you
0:15 where you can discover some of your
0:17 favorite products like sports cards
0:20 sneakers luxury handbags we can buy sell
0:22 go live and geek out with other
0:25 like-minded people so basically a
0:27 nutshell what what not is it's an app
0:30 where you go on there and hosts have
0:31 live streaming auctions where you see
0:33 the product right in front of you and
0:35 you bid on the product to win the
0:37 product and obviously you pay money now
0:40 it's not just an app where you bid on
0:43 products and you get for example this
0:45 pen where you bid highest bid or wins
0:47 the product there are games that people
0:50 host that hosts have on there on the app
0:52 you need to be weary and protect
0:53 yourself when you are playing these
0:55 games it's actually kind of shocking to
0:58 me that what not allows folks to do this
1:00 because for me it's it's basically
1:03 gambling uh you're just not gambling for
1:05 money per se you're you're gambling for
1:08 products and prizes so
1:10 um the biggest thing you need to be wary
1:12 of is predetermined games now I'm not
1:15 going to specifically name any host uh
1:17 I'm in the Lego Space when I do this but
1:19 there are different hosts that are very
1:21 popular that have different types of
1:22 games people that are new and upcoming
1:24 so the first game I want to talk about
1:26 is draw games so basically what happens
1:29 is there are usually between 25 and 50
1:31 drawers in their own number between 1 to
1:33 25 1 to 50. to make it easier we'll do
1:36 one to 25. now the problem is they could
1:37 be played many different ways so what
1:39 happens is there's a there's a floor
1:40 there's a ceiling and there's an average
1:43 so the the host is required to tell you
1:45 what the value of the lowest product is
1:46 with the value of the highest product is
1:48 and the average of all the products so
1:51 typically what will happen is 25 drawers
1:53 they're numbered and there could be a
1:54 figure that's worth or an item that's
1:56 worth two hundred dollars and then some
1:59 things that maybe in between like 50 or
2:02 75 or 30 and then the rest are like five
2:04 dollar things so you're bidding on a chance
2:05 chance
2:07 to win the item that obviously is worth
2:09 the most money now the problem with this
2:11 and there's different variations of the
2:13 game this is just the the simplest
2:16 version of the game that people do is
2:19 that the host knows what numbers have
2:22 the highest value products it's
2:25 predetermined So that obviously creates
2:28 a problem as a seller a seller could be
2:30 I'm not a seller but the seller may not
2:32 be honest and whatnot has no way to control
2:34 control
2:36 what the seller is doing so the seller
2:38 could have 25 things they could tell a
2:41 friend hey come to the stream bid this
2:42 is the number you're going to pick or
2:44 they could tell another user hey you
2:45 know give me a couple extra bucks I'll
2:48 tell you which number to pick that is a
2:49 problem and if you don't think it's happening
2:50 happening
2:52 you know that's on you I won't say for
2:54 sure whether or not it's happening but
2:56 everybody knows that it's a possibility
2:58 so you need to protect yourself do not
3:01 play games that are predetermined the
3:04 next thing is blind bags in this space
3:06 what will happen is a seller could put
3:09 50 bags 25 bags and in the same scenario
3:11 they can be numbered or they are
3:14 numbered the seller knows which bag
3:16 is the bag that has the most expensive
3:18 items in it
3:20 they could do the same thing there's no
3:22 way for what not to control these types
3:25 of games to make it truly honest and
3:28 truly fair to the buyer now other things
3:30 that I've seen Blind Bags happen is
3:33 blind bags where they do say 100 blind
3:34 bags or 200 Blind Bags you never
3:37 actually see what's in the blind bags so
3:39 the seller doesn't always do all the
3:41 Blind Bags they have on the table in one
3:44 day so there's no saying that the seller
3:46 has to put I mean they're supposed to
3:47 obviously but there's no one that is
3:50 controlling the blind bag game that if
3:51 you do it over the course of multiple
3:54 days that the figure that's worth the
3:55 most money or the item is worth the most
3:57 money was even available on day one day
3:59 two day three and there's been plenty of
4:01 streams that I've seen that this has
4:04 happened so beware of these types of
4:06 situations don't put yourself in a
4:07 situation where you're bidding on
4:10 something where it's predetermined or
4:12 you don't know for sure without a shadow
4:14 of a doubt that what you think you may
4:17 be able to win is actually there uh the
4:18 third one that I want to go over here
4:19 and then I'll give a couple other things
4:21 too is card games
4:24 so what I've seen is a card game of 23.
4:26 what will happen is uh if you it's
4:28 basically like Blackjack again gambling
4:31 but blackjack's 21 this is called 23 and
4:33 23 the odds are completely different
4:35 than 21 for blackjack
4:37 um and a couple things here so
4:39 what not does control that they have to
4:41 shuffle on screen and they have to draw
4:42 the numbers on screen and what happened
4:44 is say there'll be like three tiers of
4:45 figures if your boss you get one tier
4:46 the typically the figures that are worth
4:48 a couple bucks or the item uh if you hit
4:51 23 you'll get like the highest tier and
4:52 then you have a tier weight you get
4:54 between like 17 and 20. you get this
4:56 tier Prize or 20 through you know 21
4:58 through 22 you get this it's weighted
5:00 differently like that but the thing
5:02 about it is there is no one to control
5:05 the cards that they are using so the
5:07 seller could say hey I got a full deck
5:09 of cards you don't know that Stellar
5:11 could take cards out make it so the odds
5:13 are even more in their favor these are
5:15 the type of games that you need to stay
5:18 away from to protect yourself so let me
5:19 know what you all think and just a
5:21 couple other things too I've seen here
5:23 um like numbered prizes so instead of
5:25 doing like the card games or or blind
5:27 bags I've seen people lay out like 25 or
5:30 50 numbers you build a number they flip
5:32 the card over and you win X prize so
5:34 predetermined again stay away from that
5:36 uh and Plinko I've seen that it's
5:38 another thing they create their own
5:41 Plinko boards they can make the boards
5:42 put the things in different spots and
5:44 make it so that you know the likelihood
5:46 of you getting the biggest prize the
5:49 most expensive prize not very good uh
5:50 let me know what y'all think and I will
5:52 say this I have spent thousands of
5:54 dollars on whatnot but I protect myself
5:56 when I play these games or I just stay
5:58 away from the games altogether I think
5:59 it's a great platform if you're just
6:01 gonna buy and sell things and you want
6:04 to do it like hey go on there auction
6:05 starts a dollar three dollars whatever
6:08 the case is and you buy away but you
6:09 know that you're getting that that
6:12 particular item and you're not playing
6:14 any chance you're not gambling so you
6:15 know when you go in here just protect
6:17 yourself make sure you stay away from
6:19 these predetermined games let me know
6:20 what y'all think if you have any
6:21 experiences pods experience I've had a
6:22 lot of positive experiences had some
6:24 negative ones to learn to hardly on some
6:26 of these things but again stay away from
6:28 the predetermined games maybe what not
6:29 maybe they'll see this video I'm not
6:31 sure but it seems to be a problem to me
6:34 that you cannot control these things and
6:36 it is their platform so if y'all are new
6:38 here slap that subscribe button plenty
6:39 more videos in common looking forward to
