1:44 products that one's pretty obvious and
1:46 back in the day I was really really into
1:48 photography now one thing I want you to
1:50 do to kind of set your mindset right
1:52 before you start thinking of this list
1:55 is remember that yes you do have enough
1:58 knowledge inside of your head already
2:01 yes everyone does and know you do not
2:03 need to be some giant expert you don't
2:06 need to be the Albert Einstein of
2:08 pottery or whatever you just need to
2:10 know a little bit more than who you're
2:12 going to teach for example let's say you
2:14 are actually going to create a course or
2:17 membership or whatever around pottery
2:19 and let's say that you are sort of you
2:21 know mediocre at it like you know how to
2:23 maybe throw a mug on the wheel or
2:25 something like that well guess what now
2:28 you can make an ebook or a course or a
2:30 membership about how to throw mugs on
2:33 the wheel you don't need to know every
2:35 single thing about Pottery you don't
2:38 have to know how to make giant one story
2:40 tall vases you don't have to know how to
2:42 make plates or anything like that you
2:44 just can take the knowledge you already
2:45 have and share that with others because
2:47 there are always going to be people who
2:49 know less than you who are looking to
2:51 learn the knowledge that you know
2:53 another example when I started teaching
2:55 photographers how to book more clients I
2:58 wasn't the leading Studio making the
3:02 most money in in the nation okay and
3:04 that held me back for way too long but
3:05 what I did know was how to Market and
3:07 how to get clients and I had many
3:09 techniques that worked really well and
3:11 so my ebook that sold the most amount of
3:14 Revenue that I've ever had over $500,000
3:16 it was called Model call it didn't teach
3:18 how to start a photo business and grow a
3:20 photo business and hire and form your
3:23 LLC in like every single step no it just
3:25 taught one marketing technique that I
3:27 use to get more clients and that's
3:30 actually why it's sold so well so not
3:32 only do you not need to be the best
3:35 expert ever but you also don't need to
3:38 teach everything you can just focus in
3:41 on teaching one specific topic one
3:43 specific technique to put into your
3:45 digital product I think a lot of times
3:47 people really overthink this step that
3:49 they need to be able to be like college
3:52 professor level and know everything
3:54 possible about a topic before they teach
3:56 but here's another mindset thing for you
3:58 when I was in college I had a business
4:00 professor teaching business who had
4:02 never owned a business before now I'm
4:04 not saying you should do that I think
4:06 digital product Educators should have
4:08 experience they don't need to be an
4:10 expert but they should have experience
4:12 but who would you rather learn from the
4:14 college professor teaching how to start
4:16 a business who's never had a business
4:20 before or Sally Jane who has had a
4:22 business and isn't a millionaire or
4:23 anything but she knows how to start a
4:25 business and she's actually done it
4:28 before experience is way more important
4:31 than credential ials and being like the
4:33 overall expert now obviously credentials
4:35 are amazing too I would never shoot
4:37 those down but you don't need to have a
4:40 degree or a certificate or anything like
4:42 that to teach on your topic so to take
4:45 action what I want you to do is make a
4:47 list so start listing out things you
4:48 love to learn about things you love to
4:50 talk about things you like to help other
4:52 people with things you've overcome in
4:54 your life pain points or obstacles maybe
4:56 you didn't know how to meal prep and now
4:58 you do or maybe you used to be a couch
5:00 potato and now you do a daily haot girl
5:03 walk and maybe you want to teach other
5:05 girls how to do their hot girl walk and
5:07 create a whole community and membership
5:09 around it like it doesn't need to be
5:12 some super complicated thing it really
5:14 can be that easy okay once you have an
5:16 idea of the niche you want to go into
5:19 now it is time to grow a following now I
5:21 know a lot of people teaching digital
5:23 products online talk about things like
5:25 Etsy and Amazon and gumroad and these
5:27 different platforms but I talk about
5:29 this in almost every single freaking video
5:30 video
5:32 that you do not need to sell on those
5:34 platforms in fact I have never sold on
5:35 those platforms and I don't recommend
5:38 them for a number of reasons number one
5:40 you are just throwing yourself into a
5:42 sea of competition there is no way for
5:44 you to really stand out number two there
5:47 is listing fees number three uh like
5:48 with Etsy you have to keep listing
5:50 things to keep getting it in front of
5:52 people number four then now you have to
5:53 pay for paid ads because there're so
5:55 many other people competing on the
5:57 platform so the answer to this is and
5:59 what I've been doing since 2014
6:01 since I've been selling digital products
6:04 is to grow your own following I promise
6:06 it's not as hard and scary as you think
6:08 it is yes it's going to be hard and yes
6:11 it is going to be work but it's not
6:13 going to be as hard and scary as you
6:15 think it is I promise no one's born with
6:17 a following I wasn't maybe if you're a
6:20 Kardashian I suppose but all you have to
6:21 do is decide that you want to grow a
6:24 following and you don't have to be an
6:26 influencer I am not someone who goes
6:29 online and makes reals and Instagram
6:32 stories and I I don't document my whole
6:34 day like literally just once a month I
6:36 sit down for one to two days and I
6:38 record YouTube videos to batch out for
6:41 the next month that's it I really don't
6:44 see myself as an influencer I really
6:46 don't want to be an influencer i really
6:49 see myself more as an educator and that
6:52 is why I love YouTube so what you want
6:53 to do is start your channel around your
6:55 Niche start putting out videos every
6:57 single week don't think that your videos
7:00 have to have my video quality or my
7:02 audio quality or my lighting or whatever
7:04 from day one in fact my lighting's not
7:05 even that good I got to work on that
7:08 next but what you want to do is just
7:10 start out with where you are if you just
7:12 have a cell phone start with that if you
7:13 have a little point and shoot camera
7:15 start with that you know start with
7:18 where you are and then try to make
7:19 effort to improve with every single
7:22 video like maybe one video you decide to
7:23 really focus on your pacing of how
7:24 you're talking do you want it to be
7:26 really really fast or do you want it to
7:29 be really really slow because I know for
7:32 me when videos are really really slow it
7:34 bothers me and I want to turn up the
7:36 speed you know so kind of think about
7:37 that maybe next time you want to start
7:39 really watching all your competitors
7:41 videos and seeing you know what are they
7:43 doing maybe you want to in one video
7:44 work on your background then the next
7:46 video You're lighting you're you know
7:48 there's so many things to improve over
7:50 time and if you feel like it is
7:53 unattainable go back and look at my
7:55 oldest videos here on YouTube and I
7:57 promise you you will be feeling pretty
7:59 great about starting your own YouTube
8:03 channel because my first videos sucked a
8:05 lot and honestly your first videos
8:06 probably will too but here's the thing
8:08 if you don't start and you don't suck in
8:11 the beginning then you will never get to
8:14 being good right and I think that's what
8:15 holds a lot of people back is they're
8:18 afraid of not being perfect from day one
8:20 and you're not going to be like you're
8:22 only going to get better with time I'm
8:24 like 2 years into this and my videos
8:26 still have a lot of improvement and work
8:28 to be done but I'm not letting that hold
8:30 me back because if you try to be perfect
8:32 from day one you'll just never create
8:34 anything and you'll never get anywhere
8:36 and I promise you there are people out
8:37 there right now that need the knowledge
8:40 that you already have okay now let's
8:42 talk about the elusive consistent

8:54 but it is quite another thing to grow in
8:57 email list and an email list is actually
8:59 40 times more effective at making sales
9:01 than social media alone it is where
9:04 pretty much all of my sales come from so
9:06 what I do is I post YouTube videos every
9:08 single week and in the video I mentioned
9:10 freebies just like I did at the
9:12 beginning of this video I mentioned my
9:15 free download for 54 different types of
9:16 digital products which is in the
9:18 description linked Below in this video
9:20 and it's totally for free and what
9:21 happens is people put in their name and
9:23 they put in their email and that is how
9:26 we send them the free digital product
9:28 and then that's also how they get on our
9:30 email list so now now I'm able to send
9:32 them further stories you know further
9:34 get to know them and what their pain
9:36 points are and help them further through
9:39 my email list and this is how I make my
9:41 digital product sales and this is what I
9:43 recommend for you as well so what I do
9:46 is I actually have a 5day automated
9:48 email sequence now an automated email
9:51 sequence is a lot easier than it sounds
9:53 it's simply just however many emails you
9:55 want to write and you just automate them
9:57 so instead of saying I'm going to send
10:00 this you know September 1st at 1 p.m.
10:02 instead of doing that you say when
10:03 someone joins my list send them this
10:06 email on day 1 or day five or day 300
10:08 you know whatever you want to do and
10:10 that's how you automate your email list
10:11 so when someone downloads one of my
10:12 freebies the first thing they're going
10:15 to get is my 5day welcome sequence
10:17 they're going to get one email per day
10:20 for 5 days welcoming them into my world
10:21 letting them know more about me and how
10:24 I can help them further and then the
10:26 last two emails have calls to action
10:29 about my digital products so that's
10:30 exactly what I would recommend for you

10:51 Advanced Techniques and so what he does
10:52 is he puts out videos every single week
10:54 on YouTube and then he has a freebie and
10:56 he grows his email list and then he has
10:59 a 5-day welcome series and in the last
11:02 one or two emails he links people to his
11:04 checko page where they can get his
11:05 digital product to learn more about
11:08 different guitar skills and this applies
11:10 for any Niche I have literally been
11:13 doing the same business model since
11:16 2014 this is the key to like having a
11:18 lot of freedom and laying a business
11:21 foundation for actual consistent passive
11:23 income because once you have your
11:24 digital product selling and the
11:27 automations are set up then it's just a
11:28 matter of you putting out content every
11:30 single week and again I just spend one
11:32 to two days per month batching my
11:35 content so you can see how my calendar
11:36 could be pretty free because I'm only
11:38 spending one to two days filming content
11:40 everything's automated I'm literally
11:42 making sales while I'm filming this
11:43 video I just checked my phone before
11:45 turning my camera on and we had like
11:48 five recurring membership payments so
11:50 I'm telling you this is it I've done a
11:51 lot of different businesses and
11:53 different models over the years and this
11:56 is the best most freeing business model
11:58 so now let's talk about how do you scale

12:02 right like how do you scale this
12:05 honestly scaling sounds so like
12:08 corporate and like scary and weird but
12:10 with this business model being so simple
12:14 it's really quite easy so what I do is I
12:15 have my welcome sequence that we just
12:17 talked about but I actually have now
12:20 nine months worth of automated email
12:22 sequence now you're not going to start
12:24 there you're going to start with just a
12:26 few days and then add more on add more
12:28 on add more on that's what I've done and
12:31 so now now all I really do is create
12:34 content to drive traffic to my email
12:36 list and as I get people on my email
12:38 list then they are getting more helpful
12:40 content and also getting invited to
12:43 purchase my digital products so that is
12:45 really how I make sales and so if I want
12:47 more sales what do you think I need to
12:50 do if I want more sales I need more
12:52 traffic you could even add more digital
12:53 products down the line or do
12:55 Partnerships or add an affiliate program
12:57 there are so many ways to do it but you
13:00 don't need to do all of those of course
13:01 basically what I have done is just
13:03 focused on YouTube and continuing to
13:05 grow my YouTube which grows my sales but
13:07 then over time we were like okay now I
13:09 will affiliate some of the products I
13:11 love so that added thousands of dollars
13:13 in Revenue per month then I was like
13:14 okay I'm going to do some brand deals
13:16 that added more money then I was like
13:19 okay let's do our own affiliate program
13:20 so we're actually launching our own
13:23 affiliate program in 2025 which
13:26 basically means our students can share a
13:28 link to our program with their friends
13:29 and family and if those those people
13:31 join that they get a little Kickback
13:33 thank you for you know referring people
13:34 to the program so that's another lead
13:37 source as well but as you can see to
13:39 scale this business model all you really
13:42 need to do is just scale your traffic so
13:44 it's very simple it's very focused and
13:46 it does allow for a lot of free time
13:49 once everything is set up and yes you
13:51 absolutely can start this side hustle
13:54 for free so like I mentioned I use
