0:08 so excited for this episode I've been so
0:09 hyped when we came up with the idea and
0:12 I was inspired by Francis Chan's sermon
0:14 lukewarm and loving it that's the title
0:17 of this episode how to stop living on
0:20 the fence I'm so excited because I lived
0:23 as a lukewarm Christian for so long and
0:25 I want to offend your brain today to get
0:28 to your heart and I want God to use this
0:30 podcast episode to do some fing on your
0:32 heart and just reflect you know it God
0:34 knows our heart better than any man like
0:36 we know ourselves really well but God
0:37 knows our heart better than we know our
0:39 own heart so I I pray that this episode
0:40 is going to be a thing where you go God
0:43 really search my heart like show me
0:45 things that I need to root out because
0:49 this episode I'm so excited for and I
0:51 just hate lukewarm Christianity because
0:53 it's become so normalized and we need to
0:54 talk about it and we're just going to
0:55 talk about it how I just don't think
0:57 lukewarm Christianity is even a real
1:00 thing um that's just just hot take just
1:02 being real just being real now the
1:05 definition of lukewarm means to be
1:08 neither cold nor hot so it's kind of
1:09 like that mediocre State I remember when
1:12 I um was living with my grandma for a
1:13 little bit or when I go over there for
1:15 sleepovers she'd make sure to make that
1:18 bath water nice and lukewarm wasn't too
1:20 hot wasn't too cold it was like just
1:22 right it was just right and we need we
1:24 need to keep that in mind because a lot
1:27 of people's faith is lukewarm a lot of
1:29 people are living lukewarm and that
1:32 where I grew up in the South about 98%
1:34 of people were lukewarm it was very rare
1:36 for me to meet someone who was on fire
1:37 for Jesus and if they were on fire for
1:40 Jesus they were weird you know which is
1:42 really dangerous that lukewarm
1:44 Christianity is normalized now there's
1:46 going to be a few passages we highlight
1:49 but mainly this passage in Revelation
1:51 three about to blow y'all out of y'all
1:53 seats uh y'all better buckle up I hope
1:55 y'all are sitting somewhere where y'all
1:57 can like just chill out cuz it's about
2:00 to get Buck Wild on this podcast episode
2:03 we got Revelation 3 sorry Revelation
2:07 3:15-16 says I know your Works you're
2:10 neither cold nor hot with that you were
2:13 either cold nor hot so because you are
2:15 lukewarm and neither hot nor cold I'll
2:18 spit you out of my
2:22 mouth God vomits lukewarmness out of his
2:24 mouth the reason that people are
2:26 lukewarm is because they're not finding
2:29 100% of their satisfaction in Jesus so
2:30 they're going to be dipping a little bit
2:32 of their Towing in the water like oh I I
2:34 just want benefits of the Kingdom
2:36 without the king oh I just want the
2:37 gifts instead of The Giver
2:40 himself and so with lukewarmness we're
2:43 sitting on this gray area of the fence
2:45 like calling lukewarm Christianity
2:47 lukewarm or having this section of
2:50 lukewarm Christianity means that culture
2:52 has created a gray area that doesn't
2:55 exist we either love God or we don't we
2:57 just got to get get over that you either
2:59 love God or you don't there's this gray
3:01 area that really doesn't exist and I
3:03 love Mark 12 when Jesus says the
3:05 greatest commandment is to love the Lord
3:08 your God with all of your heart all of
3:10 your soul all of your mind and all of
3:12 your strength Jesus doesn't go yeah just
3:14 give me 70% of your heart and the other
3:15 30% you can give to the world he doesn't
3:18 say that he says I want all of you you
3:20 got to love me with all of you and he's
3:22 that whole passage is the Pharisees
3:24 trying to test him being like what's the
3:25 greatest commandment you had to follow
3:28 613 laws to be righteous and Jesus sums
3:31 up all of righteousness in that passage
3:32 to love the Lord your God with all of
3:34 your heart all of your soul all of your
3:36 mind with all your strength that's the
3:38 greatest commandment and so right off
3:40 the bat if you're withholding any
3:42 percentage of yourself from Jesus then
3:44 you're disobeying the one commandment
3:46 Jesus says is the most important to
3:48 follow and so we have to reflect on our
3:49 heart and saying God what am I not given
3:52 to you what has stopping me from giving
3:54 all of me to you and we have to be very
3:56 cautious and reflect on our life there's
3:58 this analogy of a man he says he had a
4:00 dream and in his dream he was in an open
4:02 grass field and the grass field was
4:05 split by a fence and on one side of the
4:07 fence was Satan and on the other side of
4:10 the fence was God and Satan looks at him
4:12 he says which one do you want you want
4:14 God or you want me he's like if you come
4:16 over here I'll give you all you want
4:18 I'll give you everything you want but if
4:20 you go with God you don't get everything
4:23 I'm offering you and so this guy's
4:24 contemplating he's like oh man Jesus
4:27 like you're there you're so good but man
4:28 Satan I there's some things that I
4:30 really enjoyed
4:33 so he laughs at both of them and he sits
4:35 on the fence he says I don't have to
4:37 choose either of you I can I can be on
4:38 both sides of you at the same time and
4:40 as he's laughing and scoffing at Satan
4:43 and God it goes black and out of the
4:46 darkness comes Satan and the man goes no
4:47 no no no no no Satan like I didn't
4:49 choose you I sat on the fence so I got a
4:51 little bit of Jesus and I got a little
4:53 bit of you and Satan grabs him by the
4:55 arm and grips him really hard and says
4:57 the fence belongs to
5:00 me really powerful the think about that
5:02 there's no real gray area at the end of
5:04 the day when Judgment Day comes Jesus
5:06 says he'll spit us out of his
5:09 mouth so the a question I get asked a
5:11 lot and we've been asked a lot is if I'm
5:13 lukewarm does it mean I'm going to hell
5:15 like if God vomits me out of his mouth
5:19 does it mean I can still be saved really
5:20 do those words look like the words in
5:22 the description of a Believer look at
5:24 verse 17 after that for you say I'm rich
5:27 I have prospered and I need nothing not
5:30 realizing that you're wretched pitiable
5:33 poor blind and naked that's how he
5:35 describes the
5:37 lukewarm so you were like I was once
5:39 blind but now I'm blind that's not how
5:42 it works you can't be lukewarm for Jesus
5:44 you're Allin like I love God with all my
5:46 heart or you don't love him and there's
5:50 even a Bible verse in first or second
5:53 John where it talks about if anyone
5:55 remotely lives in any bit of Darkness
5:58 then he can't fellowship with the
6:01 light so you mean to tell me Bryce that
6:03 I can't have a little bit of the world
6:05 and a little bit of Jesus it doesn't
6:07 really work like that because when
6:09 you're living lukewarm and on the fence
6:10 you don't get the fullness of
6:13 Jesus you don't and you're like ah man
6:15 Jesus just isn't doing it for me but
6:16 when you're Liv in lukewarm you don't
6:17 know what it feels like to actually have
6:19 Jesus in your life because you're not
6:21 getting the fullness of him so we have
6:23 to be willing to get the fullness of
6:26 him and the crazy thing about being
6:29 lukewarm is that if you get it you won't
6:32 be lukewarm if you understand the gospel
6:33 you won't be lukewarm and this isn't
6:35 like a thing where you have to work for
6:37 salvation you have to work for God's
6:39 love that's not what this is but if you
6:42 just get it you won't be lukewarm so you
6:43 actually don't have to work to be
6:45 lukewarm you just have to
6:47 surrender but you have to be willing to
6:49 surrender because a lot of you guys want
6:50 to grip onto some stuff you're like I'll
6:52 surrender a little bit of this and that
6:54 but I don't want to get that and I feel
6:56 like a lot of you listening to this if I
6:58 asked you if you were lukewarm or not
7:00 you would admit that you were lukewarm
7:02 and I'm not trying to judge you but like
7:03 are you on fire for God right now or are you
7:05 you
7:07 lukewarm and what concerns me more than
7:08 the fact that you would say that you're
7:09 lukewarm is that you would listen to
7:12 this video or listen to this podcast and
7:14 you would cut it off and you would go
7:16 about your day and not do anything about
7:19 it and my greatest concern on top of
7:21 that is that you would say I'm lukewarm
7:23 I know that I'm
7:25 lukewarm but that you want to be
7:27 lukewarm because you've planned your
7:30 life about being around being lukewarm
7:31 you don't want anything else but to be
7:33 lukewarm you plann your whole life out
7:34 of it you say I want a little bit of God
7:36 because it's good for my kids it's good
7:38 for my family a little bit of God is
7:40 good for the occasional bad day but I I
7:42 don't have enough money I need a bigger
7:44 house I need a little bit of more this
7:45 and we talked about this in the very
7:48 first episode Mark 4 the seed planted
7:50 amongst the Thorns was choked out by the
7:52 thorns and that's faith that is planted
7:54 it sprouts but the deceitfulness of the
7:56 world and the riches of the world choke it
7:57 it
7:59 out and the distractions of the world
8:01 world will choke out your faith and
8:03 cause you to be
8:05 lukewarm what are you going to do about
8:09 it this lukewarm faith is dangerous you
8:12 can't have fellowship with both God and
8:14 the world A house divided by itself can't
8:16 can't
8:19 stand so which one you going to live for
8:21 and we know that if the foundation of
8:24 our life is the rock whom we call
8:26 Jesus then we will experience the
8:29 fullness of him and it's kind of hard I
8:31 want I I don't want to you to feel shame
8:35 when I say this because it can be hard
8:37 when you've put your trust in so many
8:39 things and they've all let you down and
8:40 so Jesus is your last resort you're like
8:42 God I don't even know if I can put all
8:44 my trust in you everything's let me down
8:45 but the reality of the matter is even
8:46 though all those things have let you
8:48 down it's the only thing you know so you
8:49 keep going back to it so hypothetically
8:50 you don't even know what Jesus has to
8:53 offer for you so I want to say step out
8:55 in faith take that risk because it's in
8:57 God's character to show up in your life
8:59 and he can't go outside of his character
9:00 and make and and fail you God's not
9:02 going to fail you it's impossible in his
9:04 character to fail you and so a lot of
9:06 this lukewarm
9:09 state is both people that want to be
9:11 lukewarm that want the benefits of the
9:12 world and a little bit of the benefits
9:14 of the Kingdom but there's also going to
9:16 be this lukewarm state of like I don't
9:19 know if Jesus is who he says he is so I
9:20 just kind of want to test him out to
9:22 make sure he is who he says he is but
9:23 you can't experience the fullness of
9:26 Jesus unless you give your give your all to
9:27 to
9:29 him you know like I I remember when I
9:32 was younger when we would go to the pool
9:34 to figure out if the pool was cold or
9:35 not I would dip my toe in there and I
9:38 got so tired of Dipping my toe in there
9:40 because I it would scare me sometimes it
9:42 would scare me when I dipped in and felt
9:44 how cold it was I wouldn't want to jump
9:47 in the pool I'd be too scared to go in
9:48 so then finally one day I just put this
9:49 switch on my mind that I was going to
9:50 get over and I was just going to do a
9:52 cannonball every time first thing going
9:53 in the pool not even feeling how cold it
9:55 was and at first when you jump in you
9:56 get in there it kind of shocks you you
10:00 know you jump in and the and the the
10:02 degree of the water it shocks you for a
10:05 second but after that quick moment of
10:08 shock I was there and I was ready and I
10:09 was eager to be in the pool and I loved
10:12 playing in the pool and so when you jump
10:14 all in with Jesus there might be a
10:15 little bit of a culture shock because
10:18 it's shifting your mind it's changing
10:20 the way that seemed right to you so yeah
10:21 there is going to be a little bit of
10:24 that shock but once you Dive Right In
10:26 you don't want to leave the pool and I
10:27 remember getting in there my mom
10:28 screaming at me get out of the pool it's
10:30 time to go home and I didn't want to get
10:32 out of the pool once you dive all in
10:33 once you get all of Jesus and you
10:35 experience the fullness of him and you
10:36 realize that there's new mercies and new
10:38 Grace every day for you you're not going
10:41 to want to leave so I actually want to
10:42 pray for two things for you when we
10:44 close out this episode number one I want
10:46 to pray for
10:48 conviction that if you're feeling
10:49 conviction right now I pray that God
10:51 will convict you if you're living in a
10:53 lukewarm State and that you'll actually
10:56 act on it like I said earlier my biggest
10:58 concern is that you listen to this
10:59 podcast you Rec recognize you're
11:01 lukewarm you want to be lukewarm but you
11:02 cut it off and you don't do anything
11:06 about it but number two I want to pray
11:07 that God lays it on your heart to send
11:08 this to someone who's living in a
11:11 lukewarm State because if you really
11:13 love the people around you you'll call them
11:14 them
11:16 higher no matter what that takes because
11:19 love stands in the way of evil so Jesus
11:20 I thank you for this podcast episode I
11:22 thank you for this burden that you laid
11:23 on my heart God I just pray for
11:24 conviction to set in for anyone watching
11:26 or listening to this right now Jesus
11:28 will you give people the conviction to
11:30 get out of their lukewarm State God you
11:32 say I'd rather you be hot or cold I
11:33 don't want you to be lukewarm your word
11:35 says I'd rather you be hot or cold so
11:38 God will you make us hot will you make
11:39 people listening to this hot and on fire
11:43 for you God we love you and God will you
11:46 just lay people on the listeners Hearts

11:55 really means a lot to me because I lived
11:57 in so much lukewarm Christianity for so
11:59 long and I thought it was the way but
12:01 every day I would go home and I thought
12:03 I was saved and I really wasn't all in
12:06 and I would be miserable and you know I
12:07 want to encourage you guys for the
12:09 testimony after I went all in for Jesus
12:12 I got made fun of a lot after I got ma
12:14 after I went all in and after I
12:15 graduated high school a lot of people
12:17 that made fun of me actually call me to
12:20 this day and I actually got a call right
12:22 after I moved to LA listen when I moved
12:26 to LA I was 100% all in for Jesus but I
12:29 was broke I didn't have a lot of money
12:30 I didn't know where I was living I was
12:32 living in a five-bedroom house with eight
12:33 eight
12:35 people I was sharing bedrooms I was
12:37 doing this I was splitting
12:39 meals and I remember someone that used
12:41 to make fun of me called me crying to me
12:44 on the phone and they said Bryce I've
12:47 got a 4.0 GPA I'm in my dream school I
12:49 can hook up with anyone I
12:52 want but I'm miserable and they Lally go
12:54 Bryce you're broke you're a missionary
12:56 you live in LA you live in the most
12:57 expensive area in every but somehow
12:59 you're more joyful and more more happier
13:01 than I am what's the
13:03 secret at the end of the year at the end
13:05 of the day if you don't want to be
13:07 honest in public be honest with yourself
13:10 right now watching or listening to this
13:11 if you're if you're in a lukewarm State
13:13 you know that you're still suffering and
13:16 you're still miserable and I promise you
13:18 from the truth of the word of God that
13:19 God can fill this hole that you're
13:21 experiencing right now guys if you
