This analysis reveals that a specific stat, Ball Control, dictates a distinct 180-degree backward turning animation in eFootball Version 4.0, with a threshold of 92 generally triggering the change, contrary to initial assumptions about Tight Possession.

Did you know that
just a single point difference in one specific stat
can trigger a completely different animation when turning 180 degrees?
In eFootball Version 4.0, sharp turns were purely about Tight Possession.
But things have changed.
Today, we’re going to find the specific "magic number" that unlocks a different animation..
Hi, welcome to eFootball Lab.
I’m Al Amin, a FIFAe World Cup Regional Qualifier 2025 from Bangladesh.
Today, I’m breaking down exactly which stat helps you execute that 180-degree backward turn.
First, let's look at the usual suspect: Tight Possession.
Theoretically, Tight Possession affects how smoothly and quickly a player turns under pressure.
Higher stats should mean sharper turns, better close control in tight spaces, and higher ball retention.
Testing this scientifically is tough.
In the training field, it’s almost impossible to predict the initial state of the animation every time. So,
So, for this experiment we will use the in-game Skill Training mode.
The moment the session begins, we turn immediately backwards.
This helps us to detect the initial animation time.
For this I’ve capped my FPS to 60 to catch every single animation frame accurately.
I’m also using the D-Pad for movement to ensure there’s no directional drift.
For this test, I used the Epic Diego Forlan. I locked his Speed and Acceleration at 85,
and started his Tight Possession at 80. I will increase it one by one to see the result.
When turning to the Left, Forlan touches the ball with his left foot, turns,
and touches it again with his right. From 80 to 90 Tight Possession there is no animation change.
The only change is speed. We save about 1 frame between 80-85, and 2 frame between 85-90.
From 90 to 99 Still no new animation. 1 Frame difference from 90 to 95 and 95 to 99.
But, when turning 180 degrees from his Right side, things get interesting.
From 80 to 90, the animation is normal.
But suddenly, at 90 to 91, we get a totally different animation.
Instead of leaning forward, his foot stays closer to his body, and the body angle shifts completely.
Just To be clear, this has nothing to do with other stats.
I tested this again with other players to see if the result was similar.
Unfortunately, the result was not consistent
because it is actually not due to Tight Possession. The animation is happening because of Ball Control.
The first touch and body rotation were for tight possession
Then it moves into ball control. When ball control increases from 91 to 92,
the animation for recovering the ball changes. I tested this with players of different heights, weights,
and leg lengths like Maradona, Mbappe, Ronaldo, Torres and Neymar and the results were the same.
However, this isn't consistent across every card.
For Showtime Messi, the animation didn't change until 96 to 97 Ball Control.
But for MSN Messi, it happened at 92. Maybe this is how konami nerf cards.
But one thing is clear!
When turning with the player's Weak Foot,
the animation duration is significantly longer than turning with the Strong Foot.
Here is the data from my experiment. You can pause the video and see the differences.
So, how should you build your players?
If you are doing lots of turning with your players, especially midfielders and wingers,
then you should have at least 92 Ball Control.
But if your strikers are only for running behind defenders and scoring, then it is not necessary,
but still good to have. However, you should aim to have at least 85 in both
Tight Possession and Ball Control, because the difference between 80 and 85 is big.
Also, remember that with Tight Possession, your ball carrying and dribbling stats increase too.
You can check my previous video where I experimented on dribbling and speed.
