If you've ever wondered whether it's
better to swipe, chip, tap, or use your
phone to pay, you're not alone. A lot of
people, especially folks who didn't grow
up with smartphones, are asking, "What
is the safest way to pay these days,
especially on this channel?" Now, I've
saw many comments, and I told you
cyberheroes that I would be making a
video about this so you can get clarity.
So, today, I'm going to show you exactly
which methods put your money at risk and
which ones actually keep you safe. And I
promise this isn't about technical
jargon. This is about helping you
avoiding getting scammed at the checkout
so that you can protect your money. So
today in this video, buckle up because
I'm going to be breaking down the four
most common ways to pay from worst to
best so that you can avoid being scammed
in 2025 and protect your money, y'all.
Because these scammers are out here
ridiculous. They are stealing your money
left and right, up and down, and side to
side. Now, if you're out there still
swiping your card like it's 2012, you
might as well just hand your information
over to a scammer. And I don't even need
to own one of these to prove it. Just
look at this. That $100 device just
pulled the card number, the expiration
date, everything from a simple swipe.
That's why magnetic stripe cards are a
scammer's dream. And that's why I want
to talk to you and walk you through the
real differences without all this
technical jargon to make it plain so you
can finally know which option is
actually protecting your money in 2025.
So let's break this down step by step
because you asked for it and I told you
I was going to give it to you. So I got
it delivered. I am a man of my word. So
coming in and dead last is the magnetic
stripe. That old school swipe is
basically like your card's diary. It
spills the tea. I'm talking about
everything. When you swipe, you're
sharing your static card number, your
expiration date, and sometimes your
name, all in plain text, which means
it's not encrypted, which means it's
easy to read and duplicate. And that's
why card scammers at gas pumps and ATMs
scammers love these. Now, I've made
plenty videos about these things, so you
would know that this is pretty bad. So,
the final verdict of this one is swiping
is obsolete and unsafe. It is absolutely
one of the most horrendous ways to
protect your money. Now, just in case
you don't know what I'm talking about
when I'm talking about the magnetic
stripe, it is this little black portion
right here that is on the back of your
card. It contains static information.
Static means it does not change.
Therefore, the number that is created on
the front of this card, all that
information is stored in this little
strip right here. And this is how
scammers are actually able to take the
data from those um skimming devices and
actually recreate a physical copy of
your card and use it like they are you.
Interesting thing enough that these
cards actually do not contain the PIN.
This is why scammers are typically going
to watch you or record you enter your
PIN information so that they can now
reproduce your card. One subscriber
asked, "Hey boy, is it possible for the
scammers to drain my bank account if
they don't get my PIN?" The answer to
that is absolutely yes. The PIN allows
them to withdraw money. But if they can
still run your card as credit because
they've copied your card, they can still
get your money. Now look, if it's this
easy to steal your car data from a gas
pump or a grocery store, imagine what
hackers can do with your entire identity
when a bank gets breached. Now, this is
something that happens all the time. And
here's the wild part. You may not even
know it's already happened. I mean,
think about like Bank of America had a
data breach and didn't tell anybody for
months. Yes, if you use Bank of America,
you and your personal information has
been breached. On average, it takes
companies 277 days to report a breach.
That's a nine-month head start for
criminals. And that's why today's
sponsor is Aura. Aura scans the dark web
and alerts me fast if my phone number,
email, or social security number shows
up in a data breach. If someone tries to
open a bank account or credit card in my
name, Ora lets me know instantly by
sending me a notification directly to my
phone. Thank you very much, Ara. I
appreciate you because it has happened
before and it covers me with up to $5
million in identity theft insurance. You
can try Ora completely free for 14 days
at
orura.com/bboycluis. Hit the link in the
description or scan the QR code because
free credit monitoring after the fact
after your data has been stolen. That's
like installing security cameras after
your house got robbed. Now tell me, what
sense does that make? None. You're
right. All right. Coming in next on the
list is the good old chip. It's way more
secure than swiping because it generates
a unique code every time you use it.
Now, before you go off thinking, "This
is great. This is perfect." There is a
catch. It still exposes you to malware
and compromised readers at ATMs and
checkouts. And not to mention, it is so
slow. You've seen it before. Insert your
card and what do you do?
Wait. But the verdict on this one, it's
much better to actually put the chip in
than it is to actually swipe the card.
By the way, let me know in the comments
what is your go-to card. What's your
favorite? Mine is actually the MX and
the Chase Sapphire. These cards have
some amazing rewards and cash back. It
is. Yeah, these are my favorite. What
about you? Let me know in the chat. All
right, Cyberheroes. Moving on to one of
my favorite or more uh preferred payment
methods. It's going to be the NFC, which
stands for near field communications, or
you may call it the tap to pay. Your
card and reader actually do a little
encrypted handshake. It still uses your
chip, but it sends a one-time cryptogram
that's basically useless if intercepted.
And because you never insert into a card
reader, there's no risk of card readers
being tampered with physically. So, the
skimmers out there specifically don't
really take advantage of a card like
this. It's quick. It's encrypted and
it's very difficult to tamper it. Now, I
said difficult. I did not say
impossible. Now, this is the moment that
you have been waiting for. What is at
the top? My favorite, mobile payments.
Apple Pay, Google Pay, they don't even
use your real card number at checkout.
They generate a virtual token and it
changes after every single transaction.
So, even if someone could intercept that
signal, it would be completely useless.
Plus, mobile wallets require biometrics
to unlock, meaning a fingerprint or
maybe your face or at least a code. And
if your phone is lost or stolen, you can
disable it remotely. It's like having
multiffactor authentication for your
wallet. So, the verdict for this one,
mobile payment in today's world is the
safest way to pay. So, here's some tips
for you. Number one, if you have to use
a card, never swipe it. Number two, use
tap or mobile payments whenever
possible. And number three, if you're
shopping at a place that doesn't offer
the mobile or tap option, run your debit
card as credit. This way, you actually
have fraud protection and you prevent
someone from getting access to your PIN.
And number four, lock down your cards
with real-time alerts from your bank.
You never know because scammers will
typically hit your card for like 99
cents to see if it's active and then
they will obliterate your bank account.
I've seen it. By the way, if y'all are
interested in seeing how that works, let
me know. I'll create a video about it.
It is absolutely wild. Now, cyberheroes,
this is 2025 and you shouldn't be paying
like it's 2005. I'm Sherlock Homie. Stay
smart, stay suspicious, and whatever you
do, don't swipe your card. And if you
want to see what could happen if you do
swipe your card, check out these videos
right here. I just want you to stay
safe. Click here or here or here. I'll
see you on this video. Maybe that one or
both. Peace heroes.
