now during the event there were a lot of
old friends and familiar faces there
including tesla they came out with the
model 3 to have people see
and test drive their cars but you know
what i didn't see

drew another thing i wanted to address
is my great assistant linda i wanted to
apologize for her
she did an oil change on the i8 for me
and a lot of people kept saying that
they don't like the direction the
channel is going in
they came here for jokes not women i
just wanted to apologize for showing
literally two minutes of linda
in a 25 minute video now remember i
spent 25
of a video making a coffin for my
daughter's dead hamster
not a single complaint but then i have
linda on and people complain like
they've never seen a woman before
then the beta males argued in the
comment section because they said they
thought they saw a side boob
well this is why we can't have nice
things this is getting out of control so
maybe i have to let linda go and all of
her benefits 401k
corporate sponsorships and profit

simps now in terms of where the channel
is going don't forget i made an entire
video of me fixing my hot water heater

turning it into the supercar
it was meant to be i gave it some much
needed flare new wheels tires suspension
i tuned it and i added a carbon fiber
steering wheel
now in this episode we're going to kick
it up a slight notch and take it to the track
track
but before i do that i want to introduce
my favorite modification
to the i8 in this box lies one of the
most expensive and pointless things
i've ever purchased for any car well
this is what the bmw i8 key looks like
it looks like well any other key a
reasonable person would have
well i only have one of these and
because i lose everything i want to get
a spare key
so when i walk to the dealership for a
new key they ask do i want a regular key like
like
regular people or do i want the flex key
well i paused for a second looked that
man behind the counter dead in design
and told him to shut up
and give me the flex key i don't care
what it cost here's my credit card
give it to me well looking back on that
it was a big mistake that went over my
limit but
look at it it's a phone it's literally a
phone that you can't make calls on
but it's the price of a phone it's
magnificent it's literally the ipod of
the key world
remember the ipod but look at this key
not even the right time
i don't know how to set it either but it
tells you how much range you have left
between ev and gas it tells me if my
windows are closed
if the door is unlocked and if the doors
and trunk are closed and my favorite feature
feature
is this last screen the service
requirements information
after spending more than i care to admit
on a key the car told me i needed an oil change
change
and it has to be brought in for service
and you to brake flush apparently
this is how bmw stays winning they hit me
me
up for a key i didn't need and now i
have to go back to get the car serviced
because i own a bmw i literally have to
save money wherever possible so

episode now i wanted to get some more
performance out of the i8 because all
the videos i watch the car at the track
is running anywhere from 13.5
to 13.3 in the quarter mile so one of
the things you have to do is let the car
breathe a little bit better you can let
it breathe in two ways
intake and exhaust and since there's no
aftermarket intakes for the i8
there's an intake mod you can do that i
learned from pat's garage online
and you can remove the flap that
literally closes the intake
and prevents air from getting into the
engine bmw
did this so it doesn't make an annoying
fluttering noise at high rpm
at the expense of more power which the
car obviously needs
i also decided on an exhaust now the
issue is that the i8 is powered by a turbocharged
turbocharged
three-cylinder engine which sounds like
air being let out of a balloon
let's change that i typed in aftermarket
exhaust into google
and the price dollars 3 eight
hundred dollars three thousand eight
hundred dollars after taxes and shipping
you're looking at four thousand dollars
for an exhaust now i understand the i8
is an expensive car
but it's basically the same engine
that's in a three-cylinder
mini cooper my 69 mini cooper has more
cylinders than my i8 now instead of an
exhaust for 4000
i can literally buy two hondas put them
behind the i8 so they can push the i8
for more power
all right you get the point right so i
decided to have my friend alex
build me a custom exhaust for the i8 the
challenge is to try to make the little
three cylinder sound
good and you tell me if we achieve that goal
goal
let's call the electrified garage to
have it installed but
before we head over really quick i
wanted to say that uncle rich

yeah that's a three inch three inch
prototype exhaust it was custom made for me
oh man that was a oh man that was that
that was a that was a good day man
there was the open house we had the jack
on here is coming off the the ramp truck
and it took off and the jack got caught
it came up
right yeah right to the muffler didn't
you didn't need that anyways no wow look
at the difference in the muffler size
compared to that i know look at that
huh huge difference this thing weighs a ton
yeah and then also this thing goes into
this this whole thing is coming off
and it's a single pipe that just sticks
out there yeah the side wow what a
difference is going to be these things
actually sound really mean mean for a
three cylinder i guess
yeah and then so if you know what's
funny it's a three inch it's three inch downpipe
downpipe
the downpipe's three inches and it gets
to here and it reduces down to two and a
half i think on the inside crusty
that's been my experience of mine every
single bolt takes five times as long
because everything's covered in rust
and that was a single band clamp right
look how heavy is that ah maybe a good
40 pounds
really look dude look how empty it is in
there i can have a whole family in there
yeah it's like a massive suitcase look
at that
there's your this is about so i think we
have to reconnect the valve right just
so it shuts up
yeah where's it what's the logic for was
it inside
it goes up through that opening oh i see

how funny is that it was pretty easy to
do huh

so it was stuck on the uh the cat really tight

tech and here i am getting my hands dirty

how you get it ready so
you come on this side there's like a
foot and a half that's not even a foot
maybe that's a foot of space
i'd say it's a foot you got like 18
inches maybe you got to flatten yourself
like a pancake
ready do some yoga you get this foot in first
first
and then you go you turn like this oh
shoot actually
look at that good it's very graceful
like a glove see effortless

on complaining about it

the track times to the i8 uh 114
doesn't really signify a fast car but
it's definitely quick
12-2 it's a quick car i don't care what
anyone says
in launch control mode this will
actually out launch most cars in the street
street
but i will say for 150 000 new
i probably wouldn't have paid that price
for it but for the price i paid which is
about 38
as the car sits all in i think it was a
phenomenal deal
uh i'm excited to saw the next project
again remember i have the rs7 still pending
pending
i'm going to give the i8 a rest for a
little while uh basically what's going
to i'm going to do in the future is i'm
going to be
installing a hybrid turbo system on it and
and
um all i have to do now is get my hands
on a hybrid turbo for the i8 in the
first place
which might be kind of challenging
looking through salvage yards but i want
to give the i8 a break
it served me really well i'm very happy
with the car sits right now
the car's not really meant to go faster
but i would like to dip
into the elevens if possible with a
different turbocharger
uh maybe install a downpipe remember i
still have the restrictive downpipe
uh on the i8 but overall pretty happy
with this i'm very excited
uh for the rs7 to come home because
you're gonna see these numbers
drop very significantly you're probably
going to see some 10 second runs
out of the rs7 but the rs-7 is on its
way home uh i hope you guys enjoyed this
