0:13 what's going on guys Travis Kennedy here
0:15 owner kind of defensive solutions this
0:16 video I'm going to talk about rifle
0:18 sling specifically single point versus
0:21 dual point sling setup let's go
0:29 [Music]
0:52 [Music]
0:59 [Music]
1:07 [Music]
1:12 all right first thing sling on my tuck
1:15 John is the single point sling this is a
1:19 sling that I use most of the time
1:21 specifically this sling right here is a
1:24 single two dual point sling all right
1:25 sematic pull sling I really like this
1:28 thing understand that there's
1:32 limitations to both this is a dual point
1:35 sling this is a v-tach
1:36 dual point sling okay I was retention
1:40 here it could tighten it loosen it etc
1:42 but first time I talked John the single
1:46 point sling okay it has limitations as
1:49 pros the biggest Pro I find is
1:53 maneuverability with the weapon the
1:54 efficiency how I can move it freely
1:56 without any obstructions with the dual
1:58 point sling basically kind of its
2:02 downfall is the lack of retention that
2:04 the dual point sling offers however for
2:10 me the one I reason I like the Magpul
2:13 one is clips on tight has a locking
2:19 mechanism here so if I were to bump it
2:21 at all it doesn't come off also this
2:26 piece if I wanted to switch it to dual
2:28 point I can't just unlock it here and I
2:31 could just clip it on to my rail system
2:34 right here the Picatinny rail attachment
2:36 for my sling now of a dual point sling
2:38 setup so I have the versatility of both
2:40 best of both worlds okay most of my
2:43 stuff for most of my drill especially if
2:45 you're law enforcement or military and
2:47 you're doing close quarters combat I
2:49 think my preference my experience my
2:53 background the single point sling comes
2:54 into play it's more versatile moving
2:57 through a dynamic situation
2:59 it
3:01 Lee especially if I wanted to switch
3:02 shoulders I could switch shoulders very
3:03 easily here switch back
3:05 I could transition easily if I'm
3:07 transitioning my pistol bring my rifle
3:09 back up smooth without any obstructions
3:12 whatsoever if I were to use a single
3:14 point excuse me a dual point sling
3:16 however where I see limitations of this
3:19 is the ability to retain it okay if you
3:24 don't have any type of retention system
3:25 then this gun is just freely flop it
3:29 could be flopping around if I were to
3:31 have to take put hands on somebody I
3:32 have to move the rifle out of the way
3:34 now it's just dangling without any type
3:36 of retention that could be cumbersome if
3:38 I were to have to climb over something
3:40 then I would have to have the ability to
3:42 retain it my experience in the past is
3:45 if I'm wearing body armor with a plate
3:48 carrier etc I'll put it to my side I
3:51 would have a bungee attachment I'll just
3:53 bungee it which it would just Bunge it
3:54 to my side right here as well okay but
3:58 the beauty of this single the dual point
4:01 sling so I wanted just to hear I could
4:06 put my if I want to put it behind my
4:08 back
4:08 I can I can just put it right here and I
4:11 just tighten it and I can just now it's
4:13 slung on my back till point sling okay
4:17 highly recommend this one okay here come
4:21 back now I want the versatility of the
4:23 single point I have it now make sure you
4:29 lock these things put your arm back
4:31 through it now you're set and people ask
4:34 me hey how do you set this thing up what
4:37 a stock attachment you use our sling
4:40 attachment to use and I use this against
4:42 Magpul mbx our sling this thing free
4:44 floats behind the buttstock a lot of
4:47 times they're out there they had the
4:49 fixed ones where it just stays in one
4:50 position this one I find easy this one's
4:55 nice maneuvers freely no obstructions
4:57 whatsoever easy to switch shoulders easy
5:00 weapon and manipulation that's why I
5:02 love this thing and I noticed with this
5:04 model specifically the Magpul sling that
5:06 if we do have a fixed sling attachment
5:09 point where they're hard these things
5:12 tend to wear okay and I've
5:14 I've done in the past where it's worn
5:16 out so bad every time I clipped it on
5:17 and wasn't fully locked and the rifle
5:19 will fall off so just be cognizant of
5:21 that I highly recommend this thing I'll
5:22 put links below to all this kit so you
5:25 can look at it yourself and check it out
5:27 as well okay now the dual point sling
5:42 this is the VTech Viking sling okay
5:49 very standard sling okay you could
5:54 tighten it here it tightens the sling or
5:58 this piece you just loosen and loosens
6:00 the sling okay how I like to set up with
6:04 my rifle dual point sling a lot of times
6:06 you'll see people up here with QD mounts
6:07 they clip it up to the stock and the
6:09 rail I like to put it behind into the
6:11 same place I put my single point sling
6:14 because I just like it's my slings to be
6:17 a little bit tighter as well and I just
6:19 use these I don't have QD mounts if you
6:22 have a PD mounts Oh everything's the
6:24 same okay this is a different attachment
6:25 point here clip it on now it's ready to
6:33 go now
6:41 for me like I said I like my slings a
6:43 little bit tighter okay
6:45 so when I go to present here I use my
6:50 slim and kind of bear down against now
6:51 that's more control over this rifle as
6:53 well if it's nice and tight okay I can
6:56 engage here where this comes into play
7:03 the pros for these two the dual point
7:04 sling is weapon retention is great does
7:08 offer some stability when a rapid firing
7:10 expending on how tight you like it
7:12 especially if I need to go off gun and
7:14 then you put hands on somebody I could
7:16 do that to come off here but I like to
7:20 do put it under my right arm and then I
7:23 just go ahead and I can tighten it down
7:26 behind my back and that's what I like to
7:28 do that's from my experience
7:29 tighten it down right here now I could
7:31 put hands on somebody if I have to all
7:33 right from going through prisoner
7:34 handling you're come from procedures or
7:36 if I need to climb over an obstacle I
7:38 just go ahead secure it to my back I use
7:41 these a lot of a lot of maritime
7:42 operations and my experience or land
7:44 warfare setting where I'm traveling or
7:46 hiking or moving on a far distance I'm
7:49 using the dual point sling that's why I
7:52 fall back into the single to do point
7:54 that has that versatility that way I
7:55 want to keep switching out slings how I
7:58 loosen this thing here I just loosen it
8:01 that just loosens up I could go back and
8:04 to put my put it underneath my right arm
8:07 our excuse my left arm armpit okay
8:11 keep in mind all right when I I like to
8:17 have it to my stock look at my stocks
8:19 that just kind of near the notch of my
8:21 on my sternal notch here that offers me
8:24 good maneuverability good flex a
8:26 flexibility with a gun okay when I go to
8:28 present it's all nice and tight when I
8:32 lift up the gun here it already falls in
8:35 line in my shoulder pocket right here
8:39 there's not a lot of travel and I love
8:41 space I want to go to present right
8:43 there high ready
8:48 everything's nice and tight where I
8:52 could punch out a little bit gives me a
8:53 little bit of clearance here
8:55 not too much clear it's not too loose
8:57 just enough to lift up cheek weld drive
9:00 it back into position here low ready I
9:03 can drive it up okay so understand the
9:09 pros and cons for these two slings my
9:11 personal preference a lot of people ask
9:12 me why do you like to do there is why
9:15 I'm my go-to is always this sling here
9:18 because off offers me best of both
9:21 worlds especially for retention that's
9:23 in the bottom line for me is with the
9:26 kind of the main difference between
9:27 single and dual is the retention
9:30 abilities what I'm adding when you're
9:32 training out here in the flat kind of
9:34 flat range working a weapon manipulation
9:37 drills combat shooting my preference is
9:40 is this and a lot of times what my
9:43 experience is I switched over based off
9:46 mission based off environment so it all
9:48 kind of mission dictated how I like to
9:50 run my slings and but I was attuned to
9:53 both okay don't if you want to switch it
9:56 up make sure you're trained to both and
9:57 you know eat how each sling operates and
9:59 the limitations of each and the pros of
10:01 both slinks all right all right we're
10:05 gonna go out and test these out we're
10:07 gonna go out and try we're gonna shoot
10:08 with both of them so you guys can get a
10:10 visual on the pros and cons of each okay
10:13 now we're gonna go over show you guys a
10:15 few drills just watch me how I
10:17 manipulate with this this is the using
10:19 the dual point sling okay so that way
10:22 you guys could get a visual on how each
10:24 how the weapon fall especially when I do
10:26 transitions so just watch here I'm doing
10:29 hi ready punch out here already
10:38 [Music]
10:44 transition and the rifle up so it's
10:52 Paul's in a little difference it falls a
10:53 little higher for me especially with the
10:55 dual point versus the the single point
10:57 okay I go to lift it ups a little
11:00 different cuz now I got this sling kind
11:02 of in the way white as far we're just
11:03 use the single points this up there now
11:05 I can grab the magwell kind of freely
11:06 without this obstruction realize that
11:09 okay bring the rifle up one more time
11:14 say fit rifle up so here what I'm
11:24 switching shoulders with this thing
11:25 punch out you'll see you guys here reach
11:29 up they put their left hand through the
11:33 sling cuz they can't do it otherwise
11:34 come around their face come back safe it
11:46 and they can put their hand back through
11:47 again with the single point you don't
11:50 have to do that you can just easily
11:51 freely maneuver back and forth that's
11:53 one of the reasons why I like the single
11:56 point because of the versatility and
11:58 we're time fire I want to switch
12:01 shoulders right hand goes up to the mag
12:04 wall I slide my left hand through dip it
12:06 forward now I'm free and clearly come
12:12 back I could put my arm through it again
12:17 okay show you the limitations with the
12:20 the mag change so sometimes with longer
12:22 rifles you see people with the sling
12:24 attachment way up here why I like it
12:27 further back is now that I don't have to
12:30 worry about the sling get in my way when
12:32 I go for the mag change no instructions
12:33 whatsoever okay so it's gonna look like
12:35 this get bolt lock come back now release
12:40 get the mag out see now it's really not
12:43 in my way whatsoever here okay
12:45 and tug rotate over back on more time
12:53 with the transition here
12:55 save it bring the rifle back up see
13:05 right here see another thing they peek
13:08 on except with the dual point sling is
13:09 when you bring the rifle back up you
13:11 have to really get it out of the way
13:12 here all right if I don't clear it look
13:15 it's going to start catching on my neck
13:17 catch it in here we don't want that how
13:20 I do this it's the same way for a single
13:22 point as well dip it to the sahte to the
13:24 right or I'm a right-handed shooter so
13:26 either way opposite if you're
13:27 left-handed shooter and then bring up
13:29 the rifle here all right so now let's
13:32 let's take a look at a single point
13:33 sling all right so now I have on the
13:35 single point sling now the single to
13:37 dual point sling I'm going to show you
13:38 some drills on how the weapon
13:40 manipulates and moves with the single
13:42 point sling this is my favorite sling to
13:45 do these combat drills okay just going
13:48 from the high ready here punch out here
13:53 if I want to transition falls falls
14:00 freely watch how I bring the rifle back
14:01 up again it's a lot easier than the dual
14:04 point sling just dip and rotates over
14:06 specifically with this ambidextrous
14:08 sling attachment the gun just moves
14:10 freely it's easy very easy maneuver so
14:13 I'm going to switch shoulders just watch
14:18 I switch all I got to do is dip right
14:21 there don't worry about moving my
14:22 swimming my left arm through a sling at
14:25 all here bring it back it's all right
14:31 there don't have to worry about doing
14:32 this so it's much more fat it's a lot
14:34 faster it's a lot more fluid that's why
14:36 I like it
14:37 watch some of the limitation I go to
14:39 transition here here I let now now just
14:42 dangles it when I let go of it now it's
14:44 just dangling possibly hit myself in the
14:47 groin that doesn't feel good here for
14:56 whatever reason if I have to maneuver it
14:59 around my back again if I have to walk
15:01 now it's just now just dangling here
15:04 moving around kind of floppy which is
15:07 kind of it's we don't like that
15:09 you know if you're a shooters wheel we
15:10 don't want that they do make belt
15:13 attachments like I said if you didn't
15:15 have a piece of bungee they do make belt
15:17 attaches where this is kind of falls in
15:18 line it's like a little hook and it
15:20 holds it right there for you all right
15:22 I'll put a link below so you guys can
15:23 check that out as well interesting piece
15:27 of kit I've used it before it does come
15:28 in handy
15:29 time in place if it's applicable to you
15:31 and your training more time switch
15:41 shoulders back here show you the mag
15:48 change okay now I really don't have any
15:53 type of obstruction whatsoever because
15:54 this slings all back here okay now it's
15:58 nice and smooth mag in touch real a lot
16:09 more fluid a lot faster a lot I'm just a
16:11 lot more personally comfortable with the
16:13 single point sling not to say that one
16:16 is better than the other just try it out
16:17 yourself try Bowl see what you like or I
16:20 recommend have both own both slings and
16:23 working both throughout your training so
16:25 you become proficient with both slings
16:27 and hell if you want to one-stop shop
16:29 just get one of these and now I can just
16:31 clip it now I'm I'm done now the dual
16:34 point sling that easy
16:35 yeah you want to buy multiple slings
16:37 whatsoever try those out work both sling
16:41 systems comment below let me know what
16:43 you think whether you like the single
16:45 whether you like the dual point sling I
