Hi Julia. Hi Emily. It's great to see
you again. How have things been since
our last session? Things have been good.
I started to apply all the time
management strategies that we discussed
and I believe that I'm making progress
but I'm still not sure that I'm fully
there. That's great to hear. Progress is
always a step towards the right
direction. Uh in today's session, I'd
like to review your efforts, celebrate
what has been working well and give some
feedback on areas where you could um
refine your approach. How does that
sound to you? That sounds great. I am
ready to hear your thoughts. First, I
would like to acknowledge your efforts.
Over the past few months, you've shown
great commitment to improving your
communication and time management
skills. For example, I noticed how you
started structuring your tasks by
priorities, making time for your team
members to ask questions without feeling
overwhelmed. That's a big improvement
from where we started. Thank you. I
tried my best to focus on that since it
was very challenging for me earlier.
It's definitely paying off. Your ability
to manage tasks while still remaining
approachable has had a great impact on
your team, and it's clear that they
really appreciate the changes that
you've made. Now let's talk about one
area that needs some improvement. During
our last session, uh we discussed the
importance of closing the loop in
communication, making sure when you
delegate a certain task or give
instruction, you check back for
understanding and follow up on the
progress. How has that been going for
you? To be honest, I think I've been
doing it half of the time. Sometimes I
get caught up with other stuff, so I
forget to follow up. I appreciate your
honesty. Many people struggle with this,
especially in fast-paced environments
like healthcare. However, closing the
loop in communication is critical to
ensuring the task is fully completed and
that there's no room for
miscommunication. Let me give you an
example. In the last week, one of your
colleagues mentioned a situation where a
task wasn't fully completed uh due to
the fact that there was some confusion
about the timeline. following up on it
could have clarified that. Does that
resonate with you? Yes, it does. I
remember that situation. Uh now I
realized that if uh if I checked in
earlier, I could handle it better.
Exactly. It's not about blaming
yourself. It's about identifying
patterns and working to improve them.
One way to address this is by setting
specific reminders on delegated task or
even creating a simple checklist to
follow up on progress. Do you think
that's something you can try? Yes, I
like the idea of the checklist. I'll
start doing it. That's a great plan.
Let's build on it by discussing the best
practices for delegation. Here's what
works well. When you assign a certain
task, make sure you clearly outline the
outcome, the timeline, any resources or
support available. Then ask the person
to repeat their understanding. Finally,
schedule a quick check-in to ensure that
things are on track. How does that sound
to you? That makes sense.
I think I've been skipping the part
where I ask for confirmation and most
probably that's where the confusion
comes in. Exactly. Adding that one step
can make a big difference and remember
this is a skill that needs time to
master. So don't be too harsh on
yourself. The important thing is that
you're actively working to improve. To
wrap up, Julia, uh you're making
excellent progress in many areas, and I
can see how much you're dedicated to
growing both professionally and
personally. Uh for the next step, let's
focus on integrating um reminders or a
checklist system that will help you
ensure that the loop is closed on all
your delegated task. How do you feel
about that? That feels like a manageable
next step and I'm sure that this will
help me to stay more organized and to
ensure a better communication. Great.
Let's touch base on that during our next
session. And as always, if you have any
questions or challenges, feel free to
reach out. You're doing a fantastic job,
Julia. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Thank you, Emily, for the feedback and
the support. And I will start working on
the checklist right away. [Music]
