0:01 hello there and welcome back to the
0:03 closet historian and back to my series
0:05 side hustling where I talk about myself
0:07 but it is my YouTube channel so I guess
0:10 it's allowed I can Vlog right kind of
0:12 sort of and I do tend to talk a little
0:13 bit more about the behind the scenes of
0:14 both running my YouTube channel and
0:16 building sets and things like that a
0:18 little bit more behind the curtain here
0:19 on side hustling and in my last video
0:22 earlier in the week I went over my 2022
0:24 my 2022 in review kind of went over what
0:27 went well what uh where I had areas of
0:30 opportunity as it were and sort of the
0:31 things I was able to achieve in the year
0:33 of 2022 and today I'll be going over my
0:36 goals for this next year for 2023 and
0:38 this time all of my notes fit on one
0:40 sticky and the first thing on my list as
0:43 a goal for 2023 is to sew less than 50
0:45 garments next year that's why I'm
0:48 setting a number goal of things to sew
0:49 on under that a lot of people have a
0:52 goal like they want to sew 12 garments I
0:54 want to sew under 50 garments because I
0:56 got carried away and I tend to get
0:58 carried away I love making things I like
1:01 it's my art form as we as previously
1:03 discussed uh it's the way I express
1:05 myself is making and wearing and styling
1:06 and playing with clothing uh I'm a
1:08 fashion designer in some ways you've
1:10 allowed me that so thank you
1:11 um but I need to sew less than 50
1:13 garments next year especially because
1:15 I'm going to be on the busy side which
1:17 we'll get into so I have like a three
1:19 project a month like three garments a
1:21 month goal two two projects for here on
1:23 the channel and then one project over on
1:25 patreon because I do do an additional
1:27 sewing slash pattern drafting project
1:29 over on patreon every month so that one
1:30 will always be there so that's at least
1:33 12 projects but um just two a month here
1:35 on the channel is what I'm gonna try and
1:36 shoot for and then if I end up making
1:38 another project like four projects in a
1:39 month hopefully it's like a hobby
1:41 project an off-camera project I do enjoy
1:43 sewing off camera as well because I
1:44 don't have to worry about you know
1:46 angling my body when I'm doing something
1:48 as best for camera or moving the camera
1:50 around and stuff like that I do so
1:52 faster when I'm Not sewing for camera
1:54 although I still sew pretty fast even on
1:56 camera but I digress so hopefully three
1:58 projects like guaranteed and then maybe
2:00 a spare project but
2:02 trying to keep these things under
2:04 control and now speaking of having a lot
2:05 of things
2:09 around I have a lot of stuff
2:12 um I have clothes some clothes that I've
2:14 made but a lot of things that are just
2:15 like vintage that either I have grown
2:16 out of
2:18 um either because my style has shifted a
2:18 little bit or because they just don't
2:20 fit me the same way that I want to
2:22 anymore I have a lot of vintage that
2:24 people have like just given me if you're
2:26 a vintage person like in in your
2:28 community a lot of times people like oh
2:30 my great aunt stuff here
2:31 um and it's not always stuff that you
2:33 would wear or like but you end up with a
2:35 lot of random vintage sometimes so I
2:36 have some random vintage I have things I
2:38 found out thrifting I have things that
2:40 I'm just going to go ahead and let go
2:42 from my collection and as I kind of
2:43 curate down and get a little bit more
2:46 specific about my own style so I have a
2:48 lot of stuff that once again I need to
2:50 have a big sale although this time I
2:51 don't think I'll be doing it on Etsy
2:53 just because Etsy has changed a lot of
2:55 their policies and fees again and I
2:56 don't really want to deal with it so I'm
2:58 not exactly sure what platform to have
3:00 this sale on if you have had a really
3:02 good experience with like a way to sell
3:04 your things online let me know what
3:07 platform you used or which one which one
3:09 you think I should use below I'm such an
3:11 Etsy devotee just because I know how to
3:13 use it but I know that it's probably not
3:15 the best for the buyer or seller at this
3:17 point anymore because Etsy has grown too
3:18 big for their britches honestly and
3:20 they're got some weird stuff going on
3:21 over there and I'd rather just find a
3:23 different way to do this but I really do
3:25 need to have a clear out and really
3:28 curate my existence down to something a
3:30 little bit more manageable before I try
3:31 and you know shove it all in a truck
3:33 maybe this next year because my biggest
3:37 goal of the year which is why I only
3:38 have a few and they fit on a sticky note
3:41 is is to buy a house and to move so it's
3:43 a combo goal because of course buying a
3:46 house is many tasks within itself as is
3:49 moving so these are huge like this is a
3:50 huge project for this next year for me
3:54 but I've been saving for a while now I
3:55 still have a little bit more to save and
3:58 then I will be looking at houses in late
4:01 spring and summer I'm hoping you know
4:03 the perfect spooky Victorian one of
4:06 these is just waiting out there for me I
4:09 also like these uh you know Colonials I
4:10 like a good Colonial too I'm not I'm not
4:12 opposed to a nice Colonial and I even
4:15 like these which are sort of a 1920s and
4:17 30s two revivals if I found a perfect
4:18 one of those I wouldn't be mad either so
4:20 we'll see if there are any of these
4:22 around that fit my other kind of like
4:25 parameters for your size and a safer-ish
4:27 location I don't want to be in a big city
4:28 city
4:30 um necessarily I'd rather be like in a
4:31 smaller town like 20 30 minutes outside
4:34 of town where I don't have to feel like
4:35 as intimidated
4:38 living on my own because as we know I'll
4:39 be living by my lonesome although there
4:41 will be cats there whether I get to
4:42 kidnap these cats or we'll get different
4:45 cats in any case there will be cats it's
4:47 guaranteed but yes again like I said in
4:50 my last video I'm not super fixated on
4:52 where I'm going to move to I'm thinking
4:54 the Northeast
4:56 um some people suggested Vermont and as
4:59 a person who loves fall and any winter
5:01 up there is going to be kind of harsh so
5:03 might as well uh I am looking into it
5:05 I've heard a lot about the property
5:06 taxes in certain States being a lot
5:08 higher and I found a house right now
5:10 that I really like in Ohio which there
5:12 doesn't I mean there's not a ton going
5:14 on in Ohio surely you can't drive to
5:17 mood Fabrics which is you know one point
5:21 in the Northeast around New York bucket
5:22 is being able to like take the train
5:24 into New York and actually just buy
5:25 fabric in the fabric district myself
5:27 which would be amazing
5:30 um Ohio less so but the property taxes
5:32 there are a lot lower I noticed so you
5:35 know whoever has the best turdy nice
5:38 woodwork inside original tiles stained glass
5:38 glass
5:42 kind of a place good bones newer roof
5:43 you know nothing makes me happier in a
5:45 house listing on Zillow
5:48 which this makes me sound so old then
5:49 like when it says like new roof
5:51 installed in 2018 guaranteed for 40
5:53 years and I'm like that's that's the one
5:54 and I do have a lot of people who leave
5:56 me messages saying are you sure you want
5:57 to fix her up or like that's a lot of
5:59 work to do on your own blah blah look
6:01 I'm not looking for a fixer-upper why I
6:03 have to like tear down walls and do
6:05 drywall myself first of all if I find
6:07 something where I eat a big project like
6:09 the entire floor is all of them need to
6:11 be redone or refinished or this entire
6:12 bathroom just needs to be stripped back
6:15 and redone I I will save up and I will
6:17 have contractors do that kind of thing
6:18 I'm not going to try and re-roof the
6:20 thing myself but when it comes to like
6:23 wallpaper painting sanding
6:25 um you know any sort of DIY kind of a
6:26 thing I'm not afraid to do any of that
6:30 I'm not too afraid to jump in to some
6:31 bigger sort of projects but I'm looking
6:33 for a house that has good bones
6:35 um my I've had people in my life people
6:38 who know me think like oh but it's still
6:39 going to have knob and tube or like
6:40 there'll be no electrics in an old house
6:41 like that I'm like people have been
6:43 living in them for the last
6:45 100 years so it's not like they haven't
6:48 been updated since 1880 you know they've
6:49 got a lot of these places are very
6:51 livable and already a lot of the work
6:53 for updating them has been done on the
6:55 inside my biggest problem actually is
6:57 finding a house where too many updates
6:58 haven't been done because a lot of times
6:59 they're very cute victorians on the
7:01 outside and you go inside and it's
7:03 entirely opened floor plan and
7:06 everything is grayish and that's just
7:07 not my vibe I want something
7:10 higgledy-piggledy with old tile and
7:11 Woodwork and stuff like that so the more
7:13 crown molding the better
7:15 if it comes with free Spooks hopefully
7:17 they're friendly Spooks we'll see how it
7:20 goes so it's kind of the house situation
7:22 head off a few of the questions there
7:24 um but yeah moving there's gonna be a
7:25 whole other task within itself I know
7:27 there's gonna be so much to do when it
7:29 comes to the house like getting finances
7:32 and my adulting in order for that kind
7:34 of a thing I've never gotten a mortgage
7:35 before so that should be a fun
7:36 experiment it's the kind of
7:38 administrative homework that I really
7:41 don't enjoy so this is going to be a lot
7:43 of work just to buy the house and then
7:45 if they will even sell a house to a
7:48 YouTuber we'll find out luckily I can
7:51 like have a cosigner if I need one I'd
7:52 rather not just because something in me
7:54 wants to be in as independent as
7:55 possible and I will try and actually
7:58 make videos about this process and I'm
7:59 not everyone's going to be interested
8:01 but this is going to be my side hustle
8:03 this year is finding a house and buying
8:05 one and moving so in some ways that will
8:08 end up here in a series later down the
8:10 road hopefully if everything works out
8:12 according to the nebulous plan and then
8:14 of course there's going to be the
8:18 downsizing the packing of my entire
8:21 I have a lot of I have a maximalist so
8:22 you know everything at least will
8:24 finally get dusted for all of you who
8:26 asked me that question I don't I don't
8:28 tend to dust much but um everything will
8:29 finally get dusted before it gets packed
8:31 and then put out in the new place but
8:32 then it should be quite the task to get
8:34 myself from one place to another as well
8:36 so hopefully that will end up in a vlog
8:38 and you can watch me tear my hair out
8:41 then and of course if and when I do find
8:43 myself in a new home I will be
8:46 decorating that into a Gothic Jewel box
8:48 as best as possibly can I can on a budget
8:49 budget
8:50 um obviously I have a lot of stuff I can
8:52 space out and finally instead of having
8:54 it all cluttered in one spot I can space
8:55 it throughout an entire house so I have
8:57 a few things already ready to put into a
8:59 house but I've been waiting to decorate
9:01 what feels like for like I don't know
9:05 the first half of my life so I'm very
9:07 ready to get wallpapering and the only
9:10 problem will be deciding which bright
9:13 delicious dark jewel tones to use in
9:15 each room so when I do start decorating
9:16 it will be stuff that I will film it's
9:18 not going to replace sewing it'll just
9:19 be in addition to you but I've been
9:21 waiting a long time to decorate and I
9:23 can't wait to do it so very much looking
9:24 forward to it it's what I'm most excited about
9:25 about
9:27 um I I mean I I'm excited to move out of
9:29 my family home and like you know maybe have
9:31 have
9:34 parties and dates
9:37 um but more importantly I'm excited to
9:39 decorate and something I want to do once
9:42 I figure out my new house or like a new place
9:43 place
9:45 um figure out the sewing room figure out
9:47 my closet room because we're not looking
9:49 for a house with big closets we're
9:50 looking for a spare bedroom to make into
9:53 a closet don't be silly
9:54 um is I want to figure out live
9:57 streaming and not for like gaming or
9:58 anything like that although maybe who
9:59 knows I'll throw those up on my second
10:01 Channel but I want to figure out how to
10:03 do live streaming for pattern drafting
10:05 so like above the table I could do a
10:07 live stream where you request Styles or
10:09 request how to certain things are done
10:11 and then I could show you how to do it
10:13 in real time live I think that would be
10:14 really fun I would like to do live
10:15 streaming of like some of my beading
10:17 projects or embellishment in the future
10:19 or just hanging out even like styling
10:20 the lookbooks a lot of times when I'm
10:23 pulling clothes and figuring out what I
10:25 want to like put together I think that
10:27 styling I have a really good time doing
10:28 it and I think it would be fun to like
10:30 walk you through it but without having
10:32 to like edit like a very long video I
10:34 think would be a good thing to do in a
10:36 sort of live stream kind of format so I
10:37 would really like to experiment with
10:39 live streaming in the future so once I'm
10:41 in my new house I would like to get some
10:42 kind of a setup going figure out like
10:45 what a stream deck even is and how to do
10:47 live streaming so that's a goal I have
10:49 for later in the year next year once I
10:51 am in my new place we'll see if it gets
10:53 done here in this next year it might be
10:54 something that has to wait till 2024
10:56 depending on how the house buying and
10:58 moving situation goes and then of course
11:00 as always my biggest goal for next year
11:02 other than buying a house I would say
11:04 probably buying a house is my biggest
11:05 goal but this is my
11:08 most like the goal I'm most attached to
11:09 which is to finish the third book in the
11:10 series that I've been working on for
11:12 Forever This is my biggest goal last
11:14 year didn't really quite get done here
11:15 in this last year
11:16 um it's been my biggest goal for a while
11:19 to finish this book but it has you know
11:20 the third book in the series like the
11:22 final of a trilogy
11:25 it takes more to weave all those ends
11:27 together uh and like get everyone where
11:29 they're going and for me uh it's like
11:31 there's character arcs that have to
11:33 completely like come to their
11:34 fruition and stuff like that and like
11:37 seeds that were sewn in earlier
11:39 books need to like all weave together so
11:40 it has kind of a lot to wrap up together
11:43 and so I have had you know trouble
11:46 unwinding the plot a little bit more for
11:48 this one than I normally do sometimes I
11:50 sticky note them out and like have a
11:52 sticky notes for chapters and figure
11:54 them out that way but it has been
11:56 something that I had to work through and
11:59 that does take more time so that's fine
12:02 um and you know at this point I I
12:04 there's for a long long time I thought
12:06 the only way I could ever be financially
12:08 independent is if a miracle happened to
12:10 me which is true in some ways but like
12:13 if I like wrote a book and then it did
12:16 really well and then finally I could uh
12:17 move out which would have been a miracle
12:18 because most books
12:20 don't do really well I'll link a video
12:22 from Lena Norms about this below about
12:24 how authors exactly aren't getting a
12:25 huge payday but there was definitely a
12:26 time where I thought the only way I
12:28 could achieve the kind of success that
12:30 would lead to financial Independence was
12:32 for like a once in a lifetime thing to
12:35 happen to me but it turns out everyone
12:37 all you are really nice and you've just
12:39 decided to give me a jump which is very
12:42 kind of you so thank you all of you who
12:44 watch these videos and to my patrons for
12:46 making it so that I have a salary even
12:48 as a creative like already so I don't
12:50 have to wait to be a published author to
12:53 have my own home and things like that so
12:54 you're giving me a livelihood already
12:56 and so I don't have to think about my
12:57 writing in the same way which is a
13:00 certain level of freedom and means I can
13:02 kind of chill out and you'll notice like
13:03 the last couple of years in side hustle
13:05 in the very first few side hustle videos
13:06 I talk a lot about trying to get
13:08 traditionally published and it's not
13:10 something that's really Weighing on me
13:12 the same way as it was before because I
13:14 don't need a job in the same way I did
13:15 then I didn't have
13:18 a job everything was a side hustle and
13:19 none of them were really taking off and
13:21 now I have this stability here on
13:23 YouTube thanks to all of you watching
13:25 these videos on patreon that means I
13:28 don't have to freak out as much about
13:30 getting traditionally published getting
13:31 traditionally published as soon as
13:34 possible because I need a job now I have
13:37 a job and so I can really let riding be
13:39 on the side and can take my time with it and
13:41 and
13:43 focus on doing it in a way that I enjoy
13:44 instead of in a way that feels like work
13:46 if that makes any sense and I did take a
13:48 little bit of time to write I took about
13:51 five days in a block to go through the
13:53 entire draft of this third book that I
13:54 have so far
13:56 um it's about 75 000 words at this
13:59 moment I've asked around 70 because the
14:00 last chapter I have had written for a while
14:01 while
14:02 um if I've had the very last like
14:04 epilogue kind of chapter written for a
14:06 very long time so
14:08 um and the bits and pieces of it I've
14:09 had sitting in my notes folder for a
14:10 while it's coming together it's just
14:12 coming together slower than I would have
14:13 liked but I have to kind of accept that
14:15 and you have made it easier for me to
14:17 kind of accept that in some ways but yes
14:19 with all the moving stuff going on next
14:20 year I don't know if I'll be able to
14:23 finish this third book I am trying to
14:25 take the pressure off of myself for
14:26 doing that um because
14:28 um because
14:30 I do want writing to remain something I
14:31 enjoy even though it is something I do
14:34 eventually want to be like the main the
14:35 main header underneath my name like
14:39 Bianca Esposito author comma YouTuber
14:40 you know
14:42 um and right now it is I don't know
14:44 YouTuber I guess that's what my job
14:46 title is when people ask what I do I say
14:48 I teach sewing online because that
14:50 sounds for some reason more
14:51 understandable than YouTuber because
14:53 YouTuber that can mean anything you know
14:55 but I for the most part demonstrate
14:57 sewing online I think that's kind of
14:58 what I do but I'm kind of a fashion
15:00 designer I'm kind of a sewing teacher
15:02 I'm kind of a vlogger it's a little bit
15:04 of everything
15:05 um but eventually I just want to add
15:07 writer to that list and again like last
15:09 time it's not like I have my thoughts my
15:11 ducks all in a row for exactly what I
15:13 want for this next year the biggest
15:15 thing is going to be buying a house and
15:16 moving so I just know that's going to
15:19 take over my life come summer and
15:21 luckily before that I do have a trip
15:23 planned so I actually I forgot other
15:26 notes uh going to London in spring so in
15:28 Spring here in a couple months I'll be
15:31 going on a two-week trip to London I was
15:33 talking to someone on Instagram and they
15:34 had asked where I studied abroad in
15:36 London and I wanted to look up the
15:37 address of where exactly it was because
15:39 I know it was on my level on High Street
15:41 but I wanted to see exactly where and
15:42 then as soon as I zoomed down on Google
15:45 Earth I was like man I haven't walked
15:48 this street since 2012 and I realized it
15:49 had been 10 years since I'd been to
15:52 London and it is my favorite city I I
15:53 absolutely love London I mean I haven't
15:57 been to many places but I love London I
15:59 love the museums there I love how much
16:01 inspiration you can absorb in just one
16:04 you know wander around a lot of museums
16:07 are free so you can just walk in and see
16:09 quite amazing things like on your way
16:11 home from school like I used to do
16:12 sometimes I would just pop into the
16:15 National Gallery on my way I take you
16:16 know a different Tube Station at home
16:17 because I was on the Piccadilly line
16:19 when I was living there
16:21 um and just like pop into a museum or
16:23 like walk past amazing architecture
16:25 instead of going straight home because
16:27 it was possible there's nothing there's
16:29 nothing quite like being stuck down in
16:31 central like why go why go back up to
16:33 Islington when you can just stay in
16:35 central London and wander around until
16:37 your wedge heels give you blisters like
16:40 I often did and I am excited to film a
16:41 little bit while I'm there I think I'll
16:44 be taking a a little bit less uh
16:45 filmtastic approach than my last trip
16:47 when I went on that road trip I did film
16:49 every day
16:50 um this I think I'll be filming specific
16:52 things and specific days but not
16:53 necessarily every day like that I want
16:55 to take my time and actually really
16:57 enjoy being there I'll be staying
17:00 actually quite near Covent Garden so
17:01 it'll be plenty to walk around and
17:03 explore and see I can walk down to the
17:05 Thames walk around I love walking around
17:07 London there's always so much to see
17:09 there when a man is tired of London he
17:11 is tired of life and I do think there's
17:13 plenty to do there and I'm excited to
17:14 share some of my little love that City
17:16 with all of you soon so I do have that
17:17 trip coming up so it's not exactly a
17:19 goal it's just an actual plan because I
17:22 just got this idea in my head one day
17:24 that I hadn't been there in 10 years and
17:26 I ended up on British Airways website
17:27 before I knew it you know these things
17:30 just happen and I do need to get boosted
17:32 again before I go which I've had some
17:34 people again anti-vax people end up in
17:37 my comments and and you're not going to
17:38 convince me that sign isn't real but
17:39 thank you for stopping by that's another
17:41 goal but that's much more immediate I
17:42 need to schedule that for like next
17:44 month but again appointments and
17:46 homework not my favorite thing ever and
17:48 then again my last silly goal is to
17:51 finish this sleeve
17:52 um that I've kind of been creating here
17:54 and I'm excited to do that and I might
17:56 actually finally expand and get a tattoo
17:59 somewhere else not on one of my arms
18:01 which will be the first for me but I'm
18:03 excited about that again I love tattoos
18:05 I've had several people in the comments
18:07 telling me that they don't like them
18:09 even though I asked you not to come on
18:10 it's not that hard to follow
18:13 instructions now is it my body my choice
18:16 I choose artwork not sorry if you
18:17 haven't noticed that I'm a maximalist
18:22 and like to decorate myself my space my
18:23 clothes like everything as much as
18:25 possible then you haven't really been
18:27 paying attention and rant over thank you
18:29 again for listening for sticking with me
18:31 for your support for watching these
18:33 videos again and giving me my dream job
18:36 making this kind of these kind of goals
18:38 a reality for me I never
18:41 thought I would get here I spent so long
18:43 dreaming of being in this place that I
18:46 almost don't know how to recognize that
18:49 this is actually possible now and if and
18:50 when this happens this year I am going
18:53 to be slightly disbelieving it until I
18:56 drive up and get my keys I just it's
18:59 such a dream come true for me that it it
19:00 feels like I'm planning it for someone
19:01 else and in some ways because I'm
19:02 putting it off till spring I don't have
19:03 to think about it yet and I know I've
19:05 had a little bit of a slower start here
19:07 this year on the channel but I do have a
19:08 lot of things in the works in the
19:09 background there's a big pile of fabric
19:12 waiting to become clothes and there are
19:14 some textile experimentation science
19:16 experiments going on as we speak here
19:18 melting in the sewing room next to me so
19:19 I'll be showing you a lot of fun stuff
19:21 here on the channel soon and I hope you
19:22 will enjoy a lot of the projects I have
19:24 coming up so I'll be back soon with more
19:27 sewing vintage fashion costuming and
19:30 crafting so I'll see you then bye and an
19:32 extra huge thank you to my conservative
