0:09 hello I'm Dr Heather Schmidt I'm a
0:11 family medicine physician in Fondulac
0:13 Wisconsin my area of passion and
0:15 interest is really in Integrative Health
0:17 and Wellness so today I'm here to talk
0:19 to you a little bit about Wellness beans
0:20 and I hope you're curious and you want
0:22 to learn more you may be surprised to
0:24 learn that Wellness is way more than
0:27 just your diet and exercise while diet
0:28 and exercise are important parts of
0:30 Wellness we prefer to take a whole
0:33 person approach in fact we think about
0:35 Wellness as having eight Dimensions
0:37 which I'll review in a few moments I
0:39 really love this holistic approach to
0:41 Wellness it recognizes that people are
0:43 complicated and they have different
0:46 needs every person is unique and so
0:47 Wellness shouldn't be a one-size fits-all
0:48 fits-all
0:51 approach as an individual you have
0:53 personal preferences and priorities your
0:56 co-workers family members friends and
0:58 neighbors have personal preferences and
1:01 priorities as well and let's face it
1:04 life can and does throw a curveball our
1:06 way from time to time so we need to
1:10 adjust adapt bounce back and the things
1:11 that are most important to us as
1:13 children change many times over by the
1:15 time we reach our golden years in other
1:18 words our preferences and priorities
1:20 change over the course of Our Lives for
1:22 these reasons it's helpful to take a
1:24 customized approach to Wellness one that
1:26 takes your individual preferences and
1:29 priorities in mind and one more thing
1:31 worth mentioning Wellness is a journey
1:33 it's not a destination you are not ever
1:36 going to quote get there striving to be
1:39 well is about the process your journey
1:41 will be full of highs and lows and ups
1:43 and downs the most important thing is to
1:45 pay attention and make a consistent
1:47 effort forgive yourself when you fall
1:50 short and try again believe me when I
1:53 say you do not have to be perfect and
1:56 while your journey might be your own You
1:58 Are Not Alone Wellness is not a solo
2:01 venture taking care of yourself means
2:03 that you can take better care of others
2:05 as the old saying goes you cannot pour
2:08 from an empty cup and investing in
2:10 healthy relationships is one of the most
2:12 effective things we can do to improve
2:14 our own personal health and well-being
2:18 in the end we are all in this together
2:21 so let's recap what we've covered so far
2:23 First Wellness is more than diet and
2:25 exercise it is
2:28 holistic second Wellness is not a one-
2:31 siiz fits-all solution it should be
2:34 customized third Wellness is not a
2:36 destination it needs to be tuned and
2:38 cultivated through awareness and goal
2:41 setting and fourth Wellness is not a Sol
2:44 Adventure Wellness is a team sport and
2:47 our remaining time together today I'd
2:48 like to introduce you to our Wellness

3:15 be more mindfully aware of each of these
3:18 Dimensions of Wellness recognizing if
