good afternoon everyone from beautiful
rural Jang you may be thinking what is
this Village this doesn't look like your
village did you move Villages again no I
still live in the same place I'm just
not loyal honestly so I'm on a little
weekend Excursion to ning Village in
taido and I'm going to take you guys on
a little tour starting right here at
this 1,000 year- old tree that's right
this tree is older than your grandma
this tree is older than your grandma's
Grandma's Grandma's Grandma's Grandma
she's old she's Majestic she's beautiful
and she's the starting point for today's
stroll so let's get moving our first
stop is the bustling Market lining the
streets of this little village it's a
mix of local produce local snacks and
miscellaneous knick-knacks trucked in
where I love walking through these old
Alleyways like as fun as the main street
is with everyone selling all these root
vegetables I don't even recognize I just
enjoy that peaceful Vibe of these little
back alley [Music]

places here we have another super old
grandma of a tree this tree is 520 years
old so quite youthful compared to the
Thousand-Year old tree at the entrance
of the [Music]
[Music] village
this squishy thing that they're mashing
over and over again is the dough of one
of the local snacks around here they're
called ban and they're round squishy
balls made out of glutenous rice flour
with a sesame paste filling the thump
and squish is quite mesmerizing in a
weird way
some of the Matan makers are mixing the
dough with herbs like Mug wart for a
color so now they've unloaded that
beautiful green baby onto this table and
Slaughter fresh out of the thingy it is
so hot I could barely touch it it
doesn't have a very strong flavor it's
just like a very light tinge of this
like refreshing herb taste
delicious you can buy everything here
this one's my favorite though the plants
you can buy that here in this random
Village in the mountain they just put
all this random stuff here because they
know they are like people from the city
visiting with kids and the kids will be
like I want that pin
Wheels whatever this is hair thingies
stickers and of course the usual you
know Village produce and last but not
least my favorite knick-knack out of all
of them look at this little guy as
exciting as these knick-knacks are
something even more more exciting is
waiting up ahead this Grandma who I
encountered on my previous visit here in
2021 2 years ago I got some footage at
this Grandma's stall and she still remembers
me even though she's selling a
completely different array of local
produce one thing hasn't changed which
is that we can have a whole conversation
without having any idea what the other
is saying as with many elderly people in
far off mountainous places in China she
only speaks the local dialect which
Mandarin so I'm finally buying something
here and I'm getting these potato noodle
things and they're apparently not that
hard to make and I've tried them they're
fore byebye [Music]
here's the local temple each one of
these golden statues represents someone
who made a donation to the temple by
making a donation and having a statue
put here in your family's name you can
ensure maximum blessings for the
upcoming year or maybe longer I'm not
sure exactly what the expiration date is
now it's time for some untouched nature
well as untouched as it's going to get
this road that I'm walking on right now
is an ancient Road linking this village
with a town that's part of the
neighboring City it's from the S Dynasty
so so it has like a thousand years of
History obviously over the years they've
like redone the rocks and stuff but this
route is the same it's a nice place to

stroll fall happens so late here it's
already halfway through November and
it's just starting to show like the
[Music]
colors so I thought this was just a
little rest station up here on the
mountain but it turns out it's actually
a little tiny Temple isn't it cute so in
the front here we can see all the
offerings people have left there's red
dates there's tangerines some little
hiking snacks pine cones some cash some
little candies but yeah not many people
leave cash you can actually scan this
code to just give a donation throughout
my Scenic stroll on and around this
mountain I actually encountered a total
of four different temples and shrines
and I love how every single one is a
completely different style and look at
this it even has a little bit of an
ocean theme which is something I can't
recall ever seeing in a temple anywhere
in China so just goes to show you even
after all these years of traveling and
exploring I'm always finding little
surprises as Majestic as they are none
of these Mountain temples can compare to
the one I visited the next [Applause]

there are over a 100 monks living here
mostly self-sufficiently see they got
their rice Harvest laid out here right
they've got more rice than they have
space to store it seems like
so they're just kind of loading it up
inside of the temple buildings so I love
the image this has created a vast pile

this is the first place no have you been
to uh some cities in China I live in China

you study here in the University no I
work in Hondo oh working in

my hometown oh yeah we come in here for

too I already went I'm coming from there
