You find your evening's rest. The next
morning, um, the whereas the previous
morning you arrived near the ocean, uh,
the hint of the water cliffside breeze
was mingling with the humid hot air,
you're now on the jungle side, and you
wake up realizing how much of a sweat
you were sleeping in. And the stickiness
in the heat itself just is more imposing
than anything you would expected. The
insects are also out in for full swing
today. And as soon as you exit the
outside of the in where you were

southward just beyond the final exterior
walls and barriers of Port Yanzaru, and
you find yourself immediately stepping
through an incredibly dense, tangled
land of green vines, colossal ferns,
uneven hills, and twisting trees that
thrust upward to create a clustered
canopy of branches.
Uh, the heat is perpetually pushing down
on you. Uh, the sounds of numerous

echoing treetops, unreally certain of
where the source is, and your eyes
constantly dart around for any possible
looming creature paying too much
attention. Um, you travel on for about
uh 30 or so minutes through this,
keeping very very careful watch. Are
you're heling this, I imagine. Go to

Um you uh first and foremost you come
across uh one kind of open glade area
that is part of this path naturally and
out of the corner of your eye you can
see one white little glint underneath
the uh the moss undergrowth and you can
see what appears to be bone sticking
through. And immediately as you kind of
take in the scenery, you notice the
shapes that the moss have grown over uh
are in the shapes of bodies.
And you decide this is probably not the
best direct path to take and you escort
the group around.
I'm mom arm everybody and just kind of
pull them on the other path.

moss that we need or is generic moss? Yeah.

Uh, it's hard to tell from this distance

Um, so you continue to guide them uh
forward for about another 20 or so
minutes uh just along the outskirts of
the river. You can hear the water
trickling as the uh river makes its way
southward. Um
it's not in sight necessarily.
Uh if it's not in sight, you're kind of
keeping it preferably. You're afraid if
you get too close at the moment at the
very least. Um you know that there are a
number of flying primates that tend to
cluster in this vicinity.

southward along the uh the river uh
Turiki. Um you all of a sudden stop in
your tracks as you hear this
and a crashing sound echoing far away,
hundreds and hundreds of feet away, but
enough where you
in front of us or behind us?
Uh it's I'd say it's more adjacent. It's
it's west of you
currently. And you you're not certain
what exactly the source is of this, but
it seems big bigger than the
psychosaurus you saw earlier
and something that immediately gives you
the instinct to move a little faster.

such creatures.
We stop. Um is there any place I can see
that's maybe um like slightly more
dense? It's like maybe there's a game
trail or someplace we could kind of hide
or get, you know, if it if it were
coming our, you know, in any ways our way.

see there is uh a portion of uh soft
ground at the base of this large thick
tree with the roots all kind of twisting
and jutting into the floor. Um, and it's
a little out coat that's kind of pressed
into it. Um, and there are a number of
vines that hang over and you figure if
you were to all it's big enough where
you all can kind of cluster in there if
need be. Cool.

Um, and stay fairly I do one of these,
you know, like proper and we all kind of
if you want I lead everyone to this
little hideyhole. Okay.

you watch some heavily armored entity just

of these heavy thick plates with little
uh ridges like teeth sticking out the
sides. You Its head is kind of sloped
too low for you to see. And as it just
begins to pass ahead, you watch one
large maceike tail kind of
It stops and turns and looks over in the
direction of the al cove you guys are
I know. In the most dire of
circumstances, I will try to make this a friend,

but I want to make sure that we're going
to die first. Okay.

two stealth stealthy dudes over here.

it kind of makes a few sniffs in the air
with its mouth open to kind of get

much mind to your presence.

uh you continue to lead them down the
outside of this path. And you can see
the canopy grows thicker and thicker the
further in you go, the further away from
civilization you travel. The vines are
now dangling in clusters and you having
to push past them in certain places
where they get more and more dense. Uh,
brightly colored flowers are now
beginning to show up on the edges of
these vines and protruding from the
roots and the outside and the soft
underbrush of the jungle shifts with a
creaking squish sound at certain
elements where the water has gathered
from a recent rain. Um
you the it turns from kind of a friendly
looking jungle at certain places to a
naturally beautiful place and and while
familiar to you uh the rest of you who
had expected this well you you've seen a
lot of this too but this particular area
of the jungle uh the river is is
extremely vibrant. Um there are a number
of large beautiful colored uh flowers.
You see two very large plants that are
like these these beautiful uh petal-like
elements. as you noticed them. Uh, I need
need

Uh,

these are bad.
Bad flowers are going to murder us. Jamila,

Okay. You watch as one of these plants
suddenly pulses and a spore cloud
kind of spills out in the area and the
three of you feel your vision go a
little dizzy. It's a very sweet smell.
Uh it's it's it's tasty to the tongue.
Um but you kind of shake your head,
close your eyes and step out of the
spore cloud uh out of the the exterior
radius and uh you get the sense that
maybe the beauty of this particular area
is a little dangerous and you begin to
notice you've now stepped in the center
of this area and there are a number of
these plants around you now. Oh,
Oh,
we've learned something today.
Light them on fire.
That sounds like a bio.
Uh uh can we recall how close we were
when it
shot us?
It you guys have stepped about 20 ft
from it when it went off, but it looked
like it started going off before you
even like you began stepping as it shed
the pollen cloud around.
It would not be possible to just stay
out of range of these things. Or
it's possible you could try
like ninja laser thing.
We need to go around.
Um yeah,
from this distance cuz you're you're not
too far from it. There's like the small
uh stamon type cluster in the center of
the flower that the spores were shot
from. You can see uh a bunch of the
empty pockets where the pollen was are
so that one is
that one seems to be spent at the

how would I know if I

How far into this grove are we can we
see the exit? Uh currently at the
moment, I mean, it's not it's it's a
it's a a grove in the sense that like
you maybe have a 15 20 foot area that
isn't dense trees and it continues for
another 15 or 20 feet, but there are uh
several of these plants around the
exterior of it. I'd say five total.
Okay. So, it looks like even if we even
if we get out of this, there's probably
more of these things outside of it. Okay.

you're going to be here for a while. It
it's it it doesn't speed through.
Is it like the bugs bunny? Like a little
mound all the way
kind of even slower than that. It's like
you watch him just pull through the dirt
just kind of shooting out the back of
it. It kind of catches hitch a little
bit in the face the side. Um

You wait there for a good 30 or so minutes.

the small grove. You watch the dirt
begin to rise and
and you watch as a large mole emerges
from the opposite side tight.

feel the armor kind of snag. Yeah.

structural integrity of the tunnel

of of uh clothing and and various
belongings that were just like grown
over in the forest floor.

as I remember,
the city's going to take you a few days
of foot travel. At the very least, um so
there's going to be a number of points
where you have to camp or find safety or
areas to um you traveling for a few hours.

distant banks and you can see you're
hitting an area where the waters uh
travel down cuz the water runs from the
center of the island out to the city.
So, it's like it's actually be traveling
in the direction of the city you just left.
