repentance welcome to the sound Doctrine
telecast praise God for all the
corrective teaching we receive through
this series of
talks subject that's before us is
repentance now we would like to tell you
first of all the super importance of the
subject of
repentance the whole Bible from
beginning to end it is God's call to man for
for
repentance it is a call for man to come
back from ruin to
redemption in the opening pages of the
Bible we see God calling Adam unto
repentance as you come to the closing
pages of the Holy Bible whoever listens
or whoever understands this call let him
come so there again
there is a call to
repentance one of the dominant themes of
the Holy Bible is
repentance all the Old Testament
prophets they called people to
repentance it was Moses or Malachi all
of them they called people to
repent we can call John the Baptist as
perhaps the last in the order of the Old
Testament prophets
you know what is his message as we meet
him in the opening pages of the New
Testament Matthew's gospel third
chapter read the second verse to
you repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at
at
hand Bel word following John the Baptist
when the Lord Jesus Christ began his
ministry his primary message was
repentance turn with us to Mark's gospel
and look at the first
chapter and we'll read verse
15 we can read verse 14
also after John was put in prison Jesus
came to Galilee preaching the gospel of
the kingdom of
God what did he tell people to
do the time is fulfilled and the kingdom
of God is at hand repent and believe the
gospel and following the Lord Jesus
Christ the the 12 disciples they
continued the same message and they
proclaimed that message wherever they
went turn with us to Mark's gospel 6th
chapter look at the 12th
words went out and preached that people should
repent we know that the church was born
on the day of
Pentecost and you know what were the
inaugural message of Simon Peter on that day
day
turn with this to acts of the Apostle 2
chapter the 38th
vers Peter said to them repent and let
every one of you be baptized in the name
of Jesus Christ for the remission of
sins now this message of repentance by
Apostle Peter was preached in
Jerusalem not only in Jerusalem when
Paul went to Athens he preached the same
turn with this STS of the Apostle 17th
chapter look at the 30th
verse truly these times of ignorance God
overlook but now commands all men
everywhere to
repent so the whole Bible has got this
message of
repentance and the message of the Old
Testament prophets was
repentance and the message of the Lord
Jesus Christ was
repentance the 12 disciples and all the
repentance when we talk about repentance
there is an important truth that we
should not
forget normally when we talk about
repentance we think it is only for
Sinners we think that is only for
unbelievers it is not like that beloved
repentance in the Bible is not only for
Sinners it is also for
Saints it is not only for those who are
outside the fold of Christ it is also
for those who have already entered the
fold of
Christ for example if you look at the
message of Jesus Christ to the seven
churches at the opening pages of Book of
Revelation you find again and again at
least to five churches the message of
Jesus Christ is
repent for an example in Revelation second
second
chapter at the fifth
verse remember therefore from where you
have fallen repent and do the first
works or
else this was the message repent or
else the 16th
verse again Jesus says repent or
else read the other letters you find the
note of the Lord Jesus Jesus Christ was
calling the people in the church to come
back to where they should
be Unfortunately today there is too much
of talk about repentance for
Sinners and too little is spoken about
the necessity for believers or the
people of God or for the Saints to
repent we would like to tell you in the
course of these 10 talks under this
topic you must understand that this
message is both for Sinners and Saints
or to put it more correctly it is for
Saints and
Sinners under this topic how not to
repent we are going to study 10
lessons how not to
repent number one do not repent just to escape
escape
judgment how not to repent
do not repent just to escape
judgment you know what should be the
primary reason and motivation for our
repentance turn with us to the same text
where with we began this topic that is
Matthew's gospel third
chapter this was the message of John the
Baptist look at the second words
words
repent why he says because the Kingdom
it does not say because hell is near you
repent it says the kingdom of God is
repent and what is the meaning of the word
word
Kingdom that speaks about the rule or
the lordship of Jesus
Christ in other words we have to say no
to the ways of the world and come back
to the lordship and under the rule or
reign of Jesus Christ
now that's what exactly was the right
response of people who heard John the
Baptist by River
Jordan look at the sixth
verse they were baptized by him in the
Jordan confessing their
sins that was a right
response but there was a wrong
response but when John saw many of the
Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his
baptism he said to them brood of
viers who has wanted to flee from the
Wrath to
come you know the ordinary people they
repented confessing their sins to enter
the kingdom of
God these religious people these
Pharisees and sad says they wanted to
escape the Judgment or the punishment of
WTH and that is why they came and John
the Baptist said you you are a brute of
bers now there are some examples of
wrong motives of repentance which when
we look at you will understand this
better one is
Pharaoh now we all know how God used
Moses to perform many miracles and God
used him to bring several plagues into the
the
land and when you look at the ninth
chapter there is God's commment on the
heart of
pharaoh Exodus 9th chapter 33rd
33rd
verse Moses went out of the city from
pharaoh and spread out his hands to the
Lord immediately the Thunder and the
hail ceased and the rain was not poured
on the earth any
longer when there was a hail storm
Pharaoh was shaken up and he was
repenting but when it
stopped look at the 34th
words Pharaoh saw that the rain and the
hail and the Thunder ceased he sinned yet
yet
more that's exactly what happened to the
people of God the people of Israel under
the rule of the
judges when they were oppressed when the
people of God were oppressed they used
to cry out unto
God immediately God will raise a judge among
among
them through that judge God will deliver
them from the hands of
enemy once there was a
Deliverance once the judge goes out of the
the
scene immediately the people will go
back to their old ways of sin and
wickedness this cycle was happening
again and again and
again this is what the New Testament
calls as Earthly
sorrow turn with this to 2 Corinthians
7th chapter from verse
9 I Rejoice not that you are made sorry
but that your sorrow led to repentance 10
10
words Godly sorrow produces repentance to
to
salvation but the sorrow of the world produces
produces
death tell you something about what we
normally see in our
campaigns people shed tears when the
Evangelist or the preacher pleads with
them mostly it is a sorrow for their own
problems or sicknesses or sufferings
that is the sorrow of the
world there is not a Godly
sorrow Godly sorrow is over our sins and
over our
wickedness that only will lead us to
repentance that repentance only will
result in
Salvation so beloved you have to check
up every time you shut tears in a gospel
meeting whether it is a Godly sorrow or
an Earthly
sorrow and there is a even repentance
with Godly
sorrow it's a very fruitful thing it
Blessings Now look at the 11th words it
brings at least seven
blessings brings
diligence and it brings clearing of
yourself brings indignation against
sin brings a fear for
God becomes desire to live
holy brings Zeal so that you can be
alled for
God brings Vindication you're ready to
punish anything that rises itself against
against
God I want to present before you beloved
three right motives for
repentance this will help you to find
out whether your repentance is
genuine the first right motive for
repentance is the fear of
God bring before you some people who
will exemplify how how they stayed under
the reign of God with a spirit of
repentance because of the fear of
God one is the character of Joseph in
the Book of
Genesis now one day he was enticed to commit
commit
sin and he refused to yield to the
Temptation when the woman enticed him he said
said
no now what actually prented him from
committing that
sin the fear of
God what he told that
woman how can I commit this sin against
God you all know the story of The
Midwives in
Egypt now there was a Commandment that
was given that all the male children
even at child birth should be
killed that was to get rid of Baby
Moses that was a government order go
came but what did The Midwives
do to Exodus 1
chapter look at the 17th words so
encouraging for all of us every time you
face a very difficult situation the fear
of God will keep
you but the midwives feared God and they
did not do as the king of Egypt
commanded them and they saved the male
children alive
King gave that order but they feared God
more than they feared the king so they
refused to commit that wickedness against
against
God yes fear of God really keeps us and
it prevents us from getting into sin and
disastrous acts before
God that's the same case with
nayah God used him to rebuild the walls of
of
Jerusalem know what he t
jied all the officials who were before
me they used to take so much of money from
from
people but I did not do
that he said I did not do that because I feared
God shall We Tell You Something
beloved root cause of all wickedness
whether it is outside the church or
inside the church is the loss of the
God two theves who were crucified with
the Lord Jesus Christ one on either
side one man was mocking at Jesus
Christ and you know what the other Thief
said don't you fear God don't you fear
God after rebuking him he turned to
Jesus and said and you remember me when
you come in your
kingdom he was instantly
saved sometimes we think think that that
fellow was saved in the last minute in
the same way we also will be saved in
the last
minute but one thing you should remember
maybe during his captivation that man
was developing and growing in the fear
of God and it reached its culmination on the
the
cross so fear of God is the first right
motive for
repentance and the second right motive
for repentance is the love of
God you know what does the Lord Jesus
Christ say when he writes to the church
churches in
Revelation as many as I love I
rebuke and so you
repent you know the love of God should
be the constraining
factor how can I sin against someone who
has loved me so
much the love of God is such a
prevention for us in getting into
wickedness and werness away from God
third preventing factor or the third
right motivator for repentance and
Holiness is the word of
God story of the rich man and
Lazarus both of them died one went up
and other went
down there when the rich man reaches
hell he lifts up his eyes towards
heaven what does he tell
Abraham I have five brothers back home
on the earth they may also land up
here please send Lazarus and tell them to
to
repent and what did Abraham
answer they have Moses and
Prophets what does it
mean Moses and Prophets did not live at
the same
time that only speaks about the writings
or the teachings of Moses are all the
prophets and then he said no no no if
somebody goes from Death they would defin
defin
repent again Abraham
insisted know what he
said if they don't repent listening to
what Moses and Prophets have written the
word of God even if a man goes from
Death they would not
repent these are the three right motives for
for
repentance one is the fear of
God and the second one is the love of
God and the third one is the word word of
of
God how not to
repent do not repent just to escape
judgment God bless
you Bible

repentance welcome to the sound Doctrine
telecast praise God for all the
corrective teaching we receive through
this series of
talks as you are aware we are dealing
with the basic disciplines of Christian
Life subject that is before us is
repentance we started studying this
subject from last
week the importance of repentance cannot be
overemphasized from beginning to end the
whole Bible it is God's call to man for
repentance message of the Old Testament
prophets was repentance
message of John the Baptist who was the
last of the Old Testament prophets was
repentance that was the message of the
Lord Jesus
Christ that was the message that was
followed by the disciples and the
Apostles of Jesus
Christ we told you last week that when
we talk about repentance we should not
think that is only relating to
Sinners it is both for those who are
outside the fall and those who are
inside the
F Sinners must
repent Saints must
repent repentance should be an ongoing
experience of every
person the topic that we have before us
is how not to
repent last week we studied lesson number
number
one do not repent just to escape
judgment we will move on to lesson number
number
two how not to
repent do not depend on religious
activities do not depend on religious
activities do you know what is the first
of the foundational doctrines of
Christ turn with us to book of Hebrews 6th
6th
chapter and we will read that portion to
you from verse
one first it says
repentance then it says faith
faith
baptism then it says laying on of
hands and other things
follows that which comes first as the
foundational doctrine of Christ is
repentance and repentance from
what that is also very significant to be noticed
noticed
repentance from dead
works not repentance from sins or
wickedness that is primary here but
works now beloved we want to tell you
something this Epistle of Hebrews was
not written to non-hebrews or pagans or
Gentiles this was written to the Hebrew
people those people who are turning to
Christ from Jewish religion to them this
letter was
written that's what the writer of the
Hebrews calls us dead
Works come with us to the ninth chapter
of the same
book n9th and the 10th
verses it was symbolic for the present
time etc
etc that's not to stand
forever come to the 10th
wordss these were fleshly ordinances
reformation now what is the Reformation
that the Bible speaks
about that is not the Reformation we
talk about in the 16th century with Martin
Martin
Luther Reformation that was brought
about by Jesus
Christ what we read in the 11th
words Christ came as a high priest of
when you come to the 13th and the 14th
verses blood of bulls or goats or ashes
us maybe they will do some outside
cleansing but our Inner Man cannot be
cleansed by these
things how much more shall the blood of
Christ who through the eternal spirit
offered himself without spot to God
Purge your conscience from dead Works to
serve the Living
God so everywhere you see that theme is going
going
works now beloved Apostle Paul present
before us a classic example for the
consideration turn with us to
Philippians third
chapter read from verse 4 onwards to
verse 7
though I also might have confidence in
the flesh if anyone else thinks he may
so seven things he mentions as to his
plus points
credentials circumcised on the eth
day I belong to the stock of
Israel I Belong To The Tribe of
Benjamin I I'm a Hebrew of the
Hebrews concerning the law I am am a
Pharisee concerning the Zeal persecuting the
the
church concerning the righteousness
blameless so circumcision that refers to
his ceremonial
act and when he says I belong to the
star of Israel that refers to his racial
background when he says he belongs to
the tribe or the family of
Benjamin that speaks about his family
status he says I'm a Hebrew of
Hebrews that was a boasting about his ancestral
ancestral
heritage and then he says concerning
these religious this religious
activities he was a
Pharisee that speaks about the sectarian
affiliation then he says concerning Zeal
I was persecuting the church
he says that was speaking about his aggressive
convictions then he says concerning the
law I was
standard is there anything wrong with these
these
things all these things are
good but Paul repented from depending on these
these
things look at the the seventh
words what things were gain to me the
seven things that he had
mentioned these I have counted L for
Christ it is not a once for all
aair coming to the verse
eight indeed I also count all things L
for the Excellence of the knowledge of
Lord is says I counted and I am
counting so that means it is an ongoing
life beloved our repentance is not
genuine as long as we depend on our
rituals as long as we depend on our
genuine all these so-called religious
things are filthy racks before for
God read the classic text in book of
Isaiah and 64th
chapter sixth
verse we are all like an unclean
thing and all of righteousness are like filthy
filthy
racks we are all
unclean and all our so-call
righteousness and religious activities
so beloved what is necessary when we
talk about repentance is a total change
of heart to depend solely on the Lord Jesus
Christ that's what exactly is given to
us as the difference between the Old
Testament and the New
Testament the book of Jeremiah 31st
chapter read from verse
31 all the days of coming says the Lord
when I will make a New Covenant with the
house of Israel and with the house of
Judah it is not according to the
Covenant of the previous
generation this is a new
covenant what is this New
Covenant 33rd
word I will put my law in their minds
now beloved that's the change it is no
more on external rituals but it is a
matter of inside convictions our mind
heart maybe we have a good ancestral
heritage there is nothing wrong in
having a good
background but the problem is in
that now what was the problem with the
people who are listening to John the Baptist
Baptist
is he said do not begin to think within
yourselves that you have Abraham as your
father now you should not be depending on
on
that if necessary God can even make
children out of this
toone it's important that you should
repentance thank God for all the
blessings of our past
never ever we should depend on them if
genuine now then I would like to look at
the other side of the coin
also as much as you cannot depend on the
good things of your
past in the same way you are not
responsible for the bad things of your past
also what we are trying to say
you are not responsible for the sins of your
forefathers today all over Christendom
there is a teaching going on that we
must deal with generational
sins and also there is a talk about ancestral
inequity now beloved this is totally
unscriptural now such a thought was
days now turn with us for example Book
of Exodus where God gave the Ten
Commandments people who talk about
generational sins they normally quote
this particular
passage Exodus 20th
chapter we'll read the fifth
words you shall not bow down to them nor
serve them for I the Lord your God am a
jealous God visiting the iniquity of the
fathers and the children to the third
and fourth generations of those who hate
me what does this passage actually
idolatry God says my glory should not be
Idols if your father had been or if your
grandfather had been an idol worshipper
if you continue to hate him you know
that's what he says four generations of
those who hate
me so only if you continue hating God
and only if you continue to be an
continues but when you look at the sixth
words but God shows Mercy to thousands
Commandments belov but here is a
question of loving God or hating
God if you are someone who loves God
then you don't need to bother about
forefathers but when you come to the New
Covenant there is a definite change that
God has again given on this
teaching turn with us to Book of Ezekiel 18th
18th
chapter now these are all passages which
you should never forget
maybe if necessary you can even memorize
them the word of the Lord came to me
again here is a specific Revelation that
comes from
God what do you mean when you use this
prover concerning the land of Israel
saying the fathers have eaten suff
grapes and the children's teeth are set on
on
edge and then God challenges in verse
three as I live says the Lord you shall
no longer use this proverb in
Israel because every soul belongs to me
the Lord
says the soul of the father as well as
the soul of the son is mine only the
soul who sins it shall
die now if people would still insist no
no the generational sins will continue
to follow
us such a reaction was there even in those
those
days I don't know why people wanted the
generational sins to follow generation after
after
generation but here God gives an answer
to that kind of a situation
also look at the 19th
verse yet you say why should the son not
bear the guilt of the
father because the son has done what is
lawful and right and has kept all my
statutes and done them he shall shall surely
surely
live not he shall live he shall surely
live God says as my soul lives as I live
says the
Lord 20th words for a greater
emphasis the soul who sins shall
die son shall not bear the guilt of the
father nor the father bear the guilt of the
the
son the righteousness of the righteous
shall be upon
himself and the wickedness of the wicked
shall be upon
himself beloved as much as we cannot
depend on The Good Deeds of our
forefathers we don't need to worry about
also so there is no need for you to
people talk about breaking the
chains that is all an unscriptural
practice there is no biblical basis for
such a
teaching people go to counselors for
some counseling they ask now what did
your father do what did your mother do
and what did your grandfather do what
was their
profession all these questions people
ask how can you ask such questions when
you meet an orphan
child he doesn't know who is his father
and who is his mother how can you ask such
such
questions beloved we should never ever
teach something which God has not
clearly taught in the
Bible you know the Lord Jesus Christ
made it so very
clear parents brought their children to
be blessed by the Lord Jesus
Christ and the disciples were trying to
just prevent them
and what did Jesus
say don't forbid them don't prevent them
let children come to
me why kingdom of God belongs to
them you know as far as adults are
concerned we have to enter the kingdom of
of
God As far as the children are concerned
the kingdom of God belongs to
them so beloved never ever depend upon
activities a word to those who are in
some ministri
involvement do not substitute ministri
repentance the Bible calls us to be clean
clean
vessels only then we can be useful for the
the
master there needs to be an ongoing
repentance in our life
I right now think about prophet
Isaiah there was King
Isaiah and during his Reign Isaiah was
ministering he saw the tragic end of King
King
Isaiah that man was elated and he was
puffed up with
pride there God stuck it the Man became a
a
leper that was very Green in the memory of
of
is when in the year King usah died he
saw the Lord lifted
up and he heard the words holy holy holy
is the Lord of
host and he said oh I am an unclean
man I am an unclean
man he was already a prophet he was
functioning successfully as a prophet
now he realizes that before the Holiness
of God we need to be constantly repenting
repenting
he was throwing W onto people W unto
People for People he was saying oh oh oh
in the earlier
chapter now he says woe unto
me beloved this should be our
attitude don't depend upon your
rituals don't worry about the sins of your
your
forefathers don't substitute Ministry
shall we
pray gracious heavenly father thank you
for this clear lessons we are getting
from your holy
word you are a loving God so Lord you
are pleading with us to repent and come
back to
you especially Lord those of us who are
already your
children help us oh God never ever to stop
stop
repent even more so those of us who are
in the
ministry help for God to keep on
repenting deeply deeper and
deeper so that Lord we fulfill the
purpose for which you have chosen us on
the face of this Earth we give you all
glory and honor in Jesus name we pray
amen Bible
Treasures topic one
one
repentance praise God for all all the
corrective teaching that we are
receiving through the series of
talks our subject of study for the time is
is
repentance we cannot overemphasize the
importance of this subject in the life
of every
Christian it is not only a must for
those who have not yet come to Christ it
is also an absolute necessity as an
ongoing experience for everyone who has
committed himself or herself to
Christ repentance is one of the
foundational doctrines of
Christ that we can never forget beloved
it is not only a foundational doctrine
of Christ it is the first foundational
doctrine of
Christ this was the message of John the
Baptist who came as a forerunner for the
first coming of Jesus
Christ and this was the message of the
Disciples of Christ and all the Apostles
of church
history from our modern pulpits we do
not hear enough about the subject of
repentance that is why we say the gospel
that is heard today very much from our
pulpits is highly adulterated or it is highly
highly
diluted and even if there is an
occasional reference to repentance and
it is mentioned in the sermons of today
what repentance is is not sufficiently
explained because it is not sufficiently
explained people have not properly
understood what repentance
means that's why we have chosen the
subject and we deal with the subject
under the topic how not to repent
and so far we have done two
lessons lesson number
one do not repent just to escape
judgment and we studied lesson number
two last
week do not depend on religious
activities today we will move on to
lesson number
three how not to repent
do not isolate repentance from faith and
works once
again do not exclude or separate
repentance from faith and
works you know why we say that
beloved beloved repentance is talked
about in other religions also
but what is the
difference the Bible does not just talk
about repentance and stop
there rather the Bible speaks about
faith we would like to take you to some scripture
scripture
passages turn with us to Mark's gospel first
first
chapter verse
15 the time is fulfilled and the kingdom
of God God is at hand repent believe the
gospel and also the same commission he
gave to his
disciples turn with us to Luke's gospel 24th
24th
chapter 47th
words repentance and remission of sins
should be preached in his name to All
Nations repentance and remission of sins
in the name of of Jesus which means
repentance and Faith that's what the
Bible's message
is now that the apostles very Faithfully
followed in all their preaching
Ministry turn with us for example to the
inaugural message of apostle Peter on
the day of
Pentecost second chapter of Acts of the
38 then Peter said to the repent and he
didn't stop there let every one of you
to be baptized in the name of Jesus for
the remission of
Faith now the next sermon of apostle
Peter we read in the third chapter of
Acts of the
Apostles look at the 19th
words he said repent therefore and be
out now when you come to the ministry of
apostle Paul this was very Crystal
out read the 21st verse to
you here he was testifying to Jews and
Greeks in other words this was a message
both to the nominal Christians and non
Christians what was the
message repentance towards God and Faith
towards our Lord Jesus
Christ this is about the preaching
it when it was presented to the church
as a
Doctrine for example if you come with us
to the foundational doctrines of Christ
in Hebrews 6th chapter
if you look at the very first
words first he speaks about repentance
from dead
works and immediately he says and of
God repentance and Faith are
inseparable one leads to the
other repentance prepares the heart to
great evangelist by name DL
Modi he has given a beautiful statement
combining these two
Acts says repentance is the tear in the
Faith a TOS another great man of
God he says repentance is like
exilation he says believing or faith is
so he says when you repent you exhale
and when you believe you
inhale exhalation and inhalation
together it becomes a breathing isn't
other now I will tell you why we talk
seriously if repentance does not lead to
disastrous we want to present before you
an awful example turn with us to
Matthew's gospel 27th
chapter here we read about judas's carot
who betrayed the Lord Jesus
Christ we'll read from verse three
onward Judas his betrayer seeing that
Jesus had been condemned was remorseful
and he brought back the 30 pieces of
silver to the chief priests and
Elders he told them I have sinned by
betraying innocent blood and they said
what is that to us you see to
it and in the fifth verse we read he
threw down the pieces of silver in the
temple he went and he hanged
himself now here was a man who felt
sorry for what he did
he realized his
mistake he felt sorry for his
mistake confessed his
mistake he even returned the
money finally he hanged himself that's
what I said it was disastrous if
repentance does not lead to Faith on
disastrous should have going to the
temple he should have run to the Lord
Jesus Christ and confessed to
him now on the other hand if you look at Simon
Simon
Peter sometimes think that the sin of
Simon Peter was more Grievous than the
sin of Judas
isar at least Judas isor said I know
Jesus and Simon Peter said I don't know
him and he said it tce and he even
cursed his
Lord but what happened
vers 61 and 62 of Luke's gospel 22nd
chapter then the Lord turned and looked at
at
Peter Peter remembered the word of the
Lord how he said to him before the
rooster crosss you will deny me three
times then Peter went out and he wept
bitterly in other words he believed the
words of
Jesus he turned to
Jesus the eyes of Jesus and the eyes of
Simon Peter met with each
other that is the gospel
believe and when we say repent and
believe again believing is not the stop of
of
it repentance leads to
Faith Faith must lead us to
I want to present before you a very interesting
interesting
illustration all know the story of The Prodigal
Prodigal
Son now there was a father who had two
sons and the Elder boy stayed at home
but the younger boy wanted his property
to be partitioned to him he went to a
far country and he wasted
himself when he came to nothing he came
turn with us to Luke 15 18th verse
onwards it says I will arise and go to my
my
father when did he say
that at the 17th
words then he came to
himself and he realized his
fly then he decides I will arise and go
he did not stop with that
decision many people take a decision but
decision look at the 20th
words he came with a spirit of real
humility and
submission don't take me as your son
servants so beloved this boy if he
continued there among the pigs and
realize oh what a mistake I have
committed what a Folly I have committed
repentance he must leave
that he must forsake
that you know repentance or Christian
cleaning now that's exactly we should
clearly understand now we cannot explain it
better in John's Ministry know sometimes
we say John did not speak about faith he
spoke only about
repentance that is not exactly
right now if you turn with us to Acts of
the Apostles 19th
Chapter and if you look at the fourth
words how Paul was interpreting John the Baptist
Baptist
ministry look at the fourth
words Paul said John indeed baptized
with a baptism of repentance saying to
the people they should believe on him
who would come after him that is on Christ
Jesus so John was giving a baptism of
repentance as a preparation for people
to put their faith on Christ who would
come after
him not stop with that he also insisted
turn with us to Luke's gospel 3rd
Chapter the 8th
repentance in other
words prove your repentance by corresponding
actions so the Bible says in the 10th
ver so the people asked him what shall
we do then
immediately from verse 11 on to verse 14
do groups of people were before
him then there were publicans who were tax
tax
collectors and there were policemen whom
the Bible calls the
soldiers now these were representative
groups they asked him what we must
do and what did he say
to the commoners he said if you got two
shirts give one shirt to the one who has
none to the tax collected he says you
take the tax but don't collect the
tips and to the policeman he said
because you have got that powerful
people he was trying to deal with them
in Practical terms as to how they should
behave in their neighborhood and in
beled yes if it is a genuine repentance
action now we meet a group of people who
believed on the Lord Jesus Christ in
Acts of Apostles 19th
Chapter this happened in the city of
Ephesus and the group was composed of
both Jews and
Greeks and you know what they did when
they got
converted some of them were practicing
magic and when they repented and put
their faith on the Lord Jesus
Christ immediately they brought all
their magic books in front of everybody
and they set fire to them they burned
them might have cost them so much of
money but they never cared about
it why now they have repented they want
stuff to the same church in Ephesians
later on the Lord Jesus Christ in the
Book of Revelation he says repent and
Works how zealous you were you brought
your magic books and burned them now
what happened to the early Zeal that was
them beloved repentance is actually a
right about
turn now it is a thorough dealing with our
lifestyle message of John the
Baptist he
say every valy must be
exalted not a few valleys every Valley
should be
exalted and he says Every Mountain
should be brought
low now that means wherever we have gone
down we should come
up he says wherever there are crooked PA
they all must be straighten
up and all the rough places might must
be smoo
and now this is what a picture of
repentance is thorough dealing of where
we have gone down where we are high
minded where we are crooked and where we
down and following repentance there
should be Rehabilitation also
so for example if a man has a fractured
leg he under go an orthopedic
surgery and the next day he cannot run in
in
Olympics takes time for him to recoup
and then restore there needs to be a lot
time you are given to the habit of
drinking or the habit of
smoking or it can be there can be 101
things like
that are all addictive
habits and we should take time to rehabilitate
ourselves otherwise you know what will
happen seven more evil spirits will come
and occupy
you wherever you are weak you should try
areas knees are weak strengthen your
knees feet are weak strengthen your
feet that was the message of Jesus
Christ to the church in
Sardis whichever is weak and about to
die you strengthen
them how not to
repent do not exclude faith and works from
from
repentance always we should go from
and we
pray gracious Heavenly
Father we thank you for the word that
has come to us with so such Clarity
today oh God thank you that you want us
to fully come back to
you thank you for all the illustrations
and pictures of repentance we have in
the Holy
Bible help us for God to just follow
those examples because Lord everything
is written for our instruction and our
admonition thank you for this word
again give you all glory and
honor in Jesus name we pray

repentance welcome to the sound Doctrine
telecast praise God for the Holy
Bible it tells us not only what to do
but it also teaches us how to do
it in other words the Bible is both
descriptive and
prescriptive it is not only theological
it is also intensely
practical it not only teaches us what to
believe it also tells us how to
behave that is why we are dealing with
such vital practical subject on the
light of the
scriptures the subject that we are
studying is
repentance the topic before us is how
not to
repent so far we have done three
lessons lesson number one do not repent
just to escape judgment
lesson number
two do not depend on religious activities last week we studied lesson
activities last week we studied lesson number
number three do not isolate repentance from
three do not isolate repentance from faith and
faith and works now this day we will move on to
works now this day we will move on to lesson number
lesson number four how not to
four how not to repent do not be
repent do not be in your
in your confession how not to
confession how not to repent do not be vague in your
repent do not be vague in your confession beloved it is not simply
confession beloved it is not simply enough to say God be merciful to me a
enough to say God be merciful to me a sinner we normally quote what this
sinner we normally quote what this Publican said when he went into the
Publican said when he went into the temple to pray as a model for our
repentance but we want to tell you what was the purpose for which Jesus Christ
was the purpose for which Jesus Christ gave that
gave that Parable Luke's gospel 18th
Parable Luke's gospel 18th chapter look at the n9th
chapter look at the n9th words Jesus spoke this Parable to some
words Jesus spoke this Parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were
who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised
others so the purpose of this Parable was not to teach us how to repent but it
was not to teach us how to repent but it was just to say people who depend on
was just to say people who depend on themselves and boast of their
themselves and boast of their righteousness and despise other
righteousness and despise other people just in order to show the
people just in order to show the difference the Lord Jesus Christ gave
difference the Lord Jesus Christ gave this
Parable such General confessions may be all right for Sinners that means those
all right for Sinners that means those who are still outs the fault of Jesus
who are still outs the fault of Jesus Christ but for those who are saved who
Christ but for those who are saved who have become the children of God
have become the children of God confessions cannot be so
General turn with us to First Epistle of John and first
John and first chapter look at the nth
chapter look at the nth words the Apostle says if we confess our
words the Apostle says if we confess our sins so he says we that means the
sins so he says we that means the Apostle includes himself with the rest
Apostle includes himself with the rest of the Believers this is not for those
of the Believers this is not for those who are outside the fall but those who
who are outside the fall but those who are
are inside if we confess our sins
inside if we confess our sins specific so we are to repent the Bible
specific so we are to repent the Bible calls us with words being as specific as
calls us with words being as specific as they can
they can be turn with us to a classic text in
be turn with us to a classic text in book of Hosea 14th
book of Hosea 14th chapter look at the first words here is
chapter look at the first words here is a call to
a call to repentance oh Israel return to the Lord
repentance oh Israel return to the Lord your
your God you know how should you
God you know how should you repent God gives a prescription he gives
repent God gives a prescription he gives a detailed note as to what steps they
a detailed note as to what steps they should follow in the process of coming
should follow in the process of coming back to
back to him says in words
him says in words two take words with you and return to
two take words with you and return to the Lord
the Lord say to him take away all our iniquity
say to him take away all our iniquity receive us graciously and we will offer
receive us graciously and we will offer the sacrifice of our
the sacrifice of our lips then God says in verse three you
lips then God says in verse three you must be still more
must be still more specific what are the things you should
specific what are the things you should confess
confess about Assyria shall not save
about Assyria shall not save us means you went to Assyria for
us means you went to Assyria for whatever help you needed and you did not
whatever help you needed and you did not depend on the
depend on the Lord then you have to say we will not
Lord then you have to say we will not ride on hearts
ride on hearts says you should not depend on your
says you should not depend on your muscle
muscle strength it says we will not say anymore
strength it says we will not say anymore to the work of our hands you are our
to the work of our hands you are our gods in other words you will not be
gods in other words you will not be boasting over your accomplishments and
achievements when you are specific about your
your confession there is a promise that comes
confession there is a promise that comes in verse
in verse four will heal their backl ing I will
four will heal their backl ing I will love them freely and my anger has turned
love them freely and my anger has turned away from
them this passage in the Old Testament has got a replica in the New
has got a replica in the New Testament turn with us 1 Corinthian 10th
Testament turn with us 1 Corinthian 10th chapter here Paul was writing to the
chapter here Paul was writing to the Corinthian Believers about the people of
Corinthian Believers about the people of old in
old in Israel and you look at the sixth
Israel and you look at the sixth words he said these things became our
words he said these things became our example
example and when you come to the 11th
and when you come to the 11th words when he says now all these things
words when he says now all these things happen to them as
examples you see between the sixth verse and the 11th verse where he talks about
and the 11th verse where he talks about examples he gives one two 3 4 5 specific
examples he gives one two 3 4 5 specific sign look at the six
sign look at the six words don't lust as they
words don't lust as they lust at the seventh words
lust at the seventh words don't become idolators as they became
don't become idolators as they became idolators and come to the eth
idolators and come to the eth words don't commit sexual immorality as
words don't commit sexual immorality as they
they did and the nth
did and the nth words don't tempt Christ as they tempted
words don't tempt Christ as they tempted Christ 10th words don't murm as they
murmur Paul could have simply said don't lust don't go for ID worship don't
lust don't go for ID worship don't commit sexual
commit sexual immorality don't tempt Christ don't M
immorality don't tempt Christ don't M come on come on he could have finished
come on come on he could have finished it like
it like that for each he passes as they did you
that for each he passes as they did you don't do it as they did you don't do it
don't do it as they did you don't do it you know he's not tired of repetition
you know he's not tired of repetition that means confession must be
specific beloved if our confession must be specific we must go through a time of
be specific we must go through a time of self
examination there are some helps for us in the Bible for
self-examination they are what I call the sinless in the
the sinless in the Bible turn with us for example Proverbs
Bible turn with us for example Proverbs 6th
6th chapter if you read from verse 16 to
chapter if you read from verse 16 to 19 speaks about seven things that God
19 speaks about seven things that God hates proud look and a lying
hates proud look and a lying tongue so like there seven things that
tongue so like there seven things that God
God hates and when you come to Mark's gospel
hates and when you come to Mark's gospel 7th
7th chapter and there if you look at verses
chapter and there if you look at verses 21 on to verse
21 on to verse 23 Jesus speaks about various evil
23 Jesus speaks about various evil things that proceed out of the heart of
things that proceed out of the heart of man evil
man evil thoughts
thoughts adultery like that he has listed 13 SS
when you come to the Book of Romans you look at the first
Romans you look at the first chapter from vers 29 on to verse
chapter from vers 29 on to verse 32 and he says various things
32 and he says various things unrighteousness sexual
unrighteousness sexual immorality
immorality wickedness
wickedness covetousness you know like that 22 sins
covetousness you know like that 22 sins are mentioned in that
are mentioned in that list Galatians 15 chapter:
19-22 there you read about 17 sins given in that
in that list
list adultery
adultery fornication like that he has listed 17
fornication like that he has listed 17 Saints and when you come to The Second
Saints and when you come to The Second Epistle of
Epistle of Timothy look at the third
Timothy look at the third chapter you read from verses 2 to
chapter you read from verses 2 to 5 lovers of
5 lovers of themselves and lovers of
themselves and lovers of money like that 18
money like that 18 cents you know all these lists are there
cents you know all these lists are there only a sample there are still so many
only a sample there are still so many try to take this list open them up
try to take this list open them up before God with your open heart go by
before God with your open heart go by this list one by one and make your
this list one by one and make your confession
specific not only this in list when you are reading the word of God and
are reading the word of God and meditating upon it you know what happens
meditating upon it you know what happens because the word of God is a mirror it
because the word of God is a mirror it shows us where we are how far we have
shows us where we are how far we have gone away from
gone away from God turn with this tosm 19th
God turn with this tosm 19th Chapter and there is a question that
Chapter and there is a question that comes to us as a
comes to us as a challenge who can understand his errors
challenge who can understand his errors look at the 12th
look at the 12th verse how can you understand
verse how can you understand them look at the 11th
them look at the 11th words by them that is by the word words
words by them that is by the word words of God your servant is
of God your servant is war so when you read the word of God and
war so when you read the word of God and meditate the word of God I tell you
meditate the word of God I tell you because the word of God is an exposing
because the word of God is an exposing mirror we are able to see where we are
mirror we are able to see where we are before
God even if you take the Ten Commandments I suggest sometimes even
Commandments I suggest sometimes even reading of the Ten Commandments can be a
reading of the Ten Commandments can be a self-examination exercise for
self-examination exercise for us first four Commandments speak about
us first four Commandments speak about relationship with
relationship with God and 5 to 10 the six commandment they
God and 5 to 10 the six commandment they speak about our relationship with
speak about our relationship with men wherever we fail you know that can
men wherever we fail you know that can be a mirror to show us our
be a mirror to show us our condition not to lead us into
condition not to lead us into condemnation but to lead us into
condemnation but to lead us into conviction when there is conviction then
conviction when there is conviction then the resultant is our confession
that's why in our camps we used to prepare lot of
prepare lot of self-examination questioner and
self-examination questioner and distribute it to the delegates to take
distribute it to the delegates to take an hour or two quietly in the presence
an hour or two quietly in the presence of God that becomes an experience of
of God that becomes an experience of spiritual
overall in your quiet time take some time for quiet self
examination and there are also some veral model prayers of repentance in the
veral model prayers of repentance in the Holy
Holy Bible for example if you want to read an
Bible for example if you want to read an example of personal prayer of
example of personal prayer of repentance the ideal is Psalm 51 which
repentance the ideal is Psalm 51 which was a sin confession of King
was a sin confession of King David and if you want to read about a
David and if you want to read about a prayer of national
prayer of national repentance the ideal one is from the
repentance the ideal one is from the life
life of Daniel which came out of his lips
of Daniel which came out of his lips they are
they are excellent and that you can read in Book
excellent and that you can read in Book of Daniel 9th
chapter now that comes a question when we said do not be vague in
question when we said do not be vague in your confession be very
your confession be very specific there comes a
specific there comes a question does not God know our
question does not God know our sins God
sins God knows but God wants us to know know our
knows but God wants us to know know our sins God wants us to know our sins and
sins God wants us to know our sins and our
sinfulness I'll take some examples in the early chapters Book of
examples in the early chapters Book of Genesis we see God dealing with
Genesis we see God dealing with Adam and God is asking a question to
Adam and God is asking a question to Adam Adam where are
Adam Adam where are you do you think God did not know where
you do you think God did not know where Adam was
Adam was God
God knew but God wanted Adam to know that he
knew but God wanted Adam to know that he was hiding away from
God take another example that's example of
of Jacob all night the Lord was wrestling
Jacob all night the Lord was wrestling with
with him and in the morning God is asking him
him and in the morning God is asking him his
his name I have a
name I have a question think that the Lord was
question think that the Lord was wrestling with a man whole night without
wrestling with a man whole night without knowing his name
knowing his name God knew his
God knew his name but God wanted Jacob to know that
name but God wanted Jacob to know that he was Jacob a
cheat so God wanted him to make that confession I am a cheat I am
Jacob I come to the New Testament there was Jesus Christ in a
Testament there was Jesus Christ in a conversation with a woman in
conversation with a woman in Samaria and when he was talking about
Samaria and when he was talking about living water she immediately said please
living water she immediately said please give me that Living
give me that Living Water what did Jesus
Water what did Jesus say go bring your
say go bring your husband and she immediately said I have
husband and she immediately said I have no
no husband immediately Jesus gave the
husband immediately Jesus gave the details you rightly said you had no
details you rightly said you had no husband you had five
husband you had five husband one with whom you are now living
husband one with whom you are now living he's not your
he's not your husband in other words Jesus wanted her
husband in other words Jesus wanted her to know the kind of life she was living
to know the kind of life she was living and that Jesus wanted her to confess
beforeand beloved confession of sins is not informing God but it is affirming to
not informing God but it is affirming to God what he already
knows therefore beloved don't have the habit of sinning retail but confessing
habit of sinning retail but confessing wholes now this is something which we
wholes now this is something which we should get rid of from our life as a
habit now please turn with us the Book of Proverbs and there is a very specific
of Proverbs and there is a very specific guideline that is given to us in this
guideline that is given to us in this context 28th
context 28th chapter look at the 13th
chapter look at the 13th words he who covers his sins shall not
words he who covers his sins shall not Prosper but whoever
Prosper but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have
confesses and forsakes them will have mercy only when when you confess it'll
mercy only when when you confess it'll be easy for you to
be easy for you to forsake now this is very
forsake now this is very important only when you specifically
important only when you specifically confess it becomes easy for you to
confess it becomes easy for you to definitely forsake
definitely forsake it only when we specifically confess you
it only when we specifically confess you will understand the root cause for your
will understand the root cause for your failures look at the 14th
failures look at the 14th words man who specifically confesses and
words man who specifically confesses and forsakes he becomes reverent and he
forsakes he becomes reverent and he becomes a man with a reverential fear
becomes a man with a reverential fear before God that keeps him safe and that
before God that keeps him safe and that the Bible calls us a blessed
State another reason beloved why we are supposed to confess our sins to God is
supposed to confess our sins to God is that to what extent we realize our
that to what extent we realize our sinfulness to that extent we will love
sinfulness to that extent we will love the
the Lord Luke's gospel 7 chapter we come
Lord Luke's gospel 7 chapter we come across a
across a woman Jesus was seated in a rich man's
woman Jesus was seated in a rich man's house in a
house in a banquet and this woman suddenly enters
banquet and this woman suddenly enters there what does she
there what does she do she washed the feet of
do she washed the feet of Jesus she kissed the feet of
Jesus she kissed the feet of Jesus and she anointed the feet of
Jesus and she anointed the feet of Jesus and immediately there was a
Jesus and immediately there was a murmuring among the
murmuring among the people you know what did Jesus say
people you know what did Jesus say to whom much is Forgiven she will love
to whom much is Forgiven she will love the
the more does it mean that she was more
more does it mean that she was more sinful than all the other guests who
sinful than all the other guests who were sitting in that
were sitting in that banquet that doesn't mean
banquet that doesn't mean that actually mean she realized her
that actually mean she realized her sinfulness more than these people
sinfulness more than these people realized their
sinfulness when you are becoming specific more and more specific and
specific more and more specific and definite in your confession forsaking
definite in your confession forsaking becomes easy not only that you fall in
becomes easy not only that you fall in love with the Lord again and again over
love with the Lord again and again over and over
and over again and that makes you to really walk
again and that makes you to really walk humbly before
humbly before God she realized her sinfulness more
God she realized her sinfulness more than these people realized their
than these people realized their sinfulness he washed his feet
sinfulness he washed his feet kissed his
kissed his feet anointed his
feet anointed his feet Bel that's what the Bible says he
feet Bel that's what the Bible says he who stays
who stays reverent he who maintains that
reverent he who maintains that reverential fear He Who Walks humbly he
reverential fear He Who Walks humbly he is a blessed
is a blessed man that is the real blessed state that
man that is the real blessed state that God is calling us
today know in Revival meetings we are simply called rededication your life to
simply called rededication your life to the Lord rededicate your life to the
the Lord rededicate your life to the Lord I believe this word rededication
Lord I believe this word rededication cannot be a substitute for genuine
cannot be a substitute for genuine repentance I think we have invented that
repentance I think we have invented that word rededication as an easy alternative
word rededication as an easy alternative and substitute for genuine
repentance when will the Revival come genuinely in our
genuinely in our lives If my people who are called by my
lives If my people who are called by my name
name humble themselves before
humble themselves before me turn from their wicked
me turn from their wicked way and pray unto
way and pray unto me then will I forgive their
me then will I forgive their sins I will heal their
sins I will heal their land all not to

backsliding help us for God to take all this precious teaching of your word

others Jesus told many stories and Parables to explain some Eternal
Parables to explain some Eternal truths in most of the instances he
truths in most of the instances he himself has given the moral of the story
himself has given the moral of the story or the moral of that
or the moral of that Parable and in several places he has
Parable and in several places he has made the context in such a way that the
made the context in such a way that the moral comes up so very clearly but we
moral comes up so very clearly but we often ignore
often ignore it and we go around emphasizing the
it and we go around emphasizing the peripheral and we leave the central
peripheral and we leave the central truth or the central thrust of any story
truth or the central thrust of any story or a parable now one example can explain
or a parable now one example can explain what we are talking about Luke's gospel
what we are talking about Luke's gospel if you turn with us to the 18th
if you turn with us to the 18th chapter there we have the story of a
chapter there we have the story of a Pharisee and a tax collector who went to
Pharisee and a tax collector who went to the temple to
the temple to pray we want to tell you
pray we want to tell you something this Parable is not to teach
something this Parable is not to teach us how to be

saved the main purpose of this Parable is to teach us that we should never

compare ourselves with others turn with us to that passage 18th

we have the long prayer of the Pharisee that is written for

us but you know what was the first sentence of his
sentence of his prayer at the 11th
prayer at the 11th words thank you that I am not like other
words thank you that I am not like other men that was what he was totally
men that was what he was totally occupied
occupied with beloved we want to tell you right
with beloved we want to tell you right at the outset god abhor such attitude
turn with us to book of Isaiah 65th chapter and we look at verse
chapter and we look at verse five who say keep to yourself don't come
five who say keep to yourself don't come near me for I am holier than you these
near me for I am holier than you these people are smoke in my nozzles and they
people are smoke in my nozzles and they are a fire that burns all
are a fire that burns all day you know how terrible this saying
day you know how terrible this saying is now these people say keep to yourself
is now these people say keep to yourself don't come near me I'm holier than
don't come near me I'm holier than you you know who are these
you you know who are these people these were the people of
people these were the people of Israel that's what we read in the first
Israel that's what we read in the first words God is contrasting the people of
words God is contrasting the people of Israel with the people of non-jewish
Israel with the people of non-jewish community that is the Gentile
community that is the Gentile world and what does he tell about the
world and what does he tell about the gentile
gentile people I was sought by those who did not
people I was sought by those who did not ask for
ask for me and I was found by those who did not
me and I was found by those who did not seek
seek me I said here I am here I am to a
me I said here I am here I am to a nation that was not called by my
nation that was not called by my name in other words the people of Israel
name in other words the people of Israel they were treating the other people as
they were treating the other people as Untouchables they said we are holier
Untouchables they said we are holier than you don't come near
than you don't come near us and God says such people I abore they
us and God says such people I abore they are just smoke in my
are just smoke in my a beloved our yach stick should not be
a beloved our yach stick should not be other people our yach should be the
other people our yach should be the standard of God
standard of God itself one excellent example which I
itself one excellent example which I very frequently refer to is the example
very frequently refer to is the example of prophet
Isaiah turn with this the book of Isaiah 6th
6th chapter look at the third
chapter look at the third words he had a vision of God
words he had a vision of God and there is a voice of Praise unto
and there is a voice of Praise unto God and what does the voice
God and what does the voice say third
say third words holy holy holy is the Lord of
words holy holy holy is the Lord of host you know when he heard that
host you know when he heard that revelation of the Holiness of
revelation of the Holiness of God was his
God was his response who is me for I am
response who is me for I am undone and because I am a man of unclean
undone and because I am a man of unclean lives
lives and I dwell in the midst of a people of
and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean
unclean lives because he says in the same words
lives because he says in the same words at the end of it for my eyes have seen
at the end of it for my eyes have seen the king the Lord of
the king the Lord of host now that means a praise holy holy
host now that means a praise holy holy holy he reciprocates is saying undone
holy he reciprocates is saying undone unone unclean
unclean just like prophet Isaiah patriarch job also had a similar
patriarch job also had a similar experience turn with us to Book of Job
experience turn with us to Book of Job and 42nd
and 42nd chapter now that is towards the end of
chapter now that is towards the end of the story of
the story of job now we'll read verses 5 and six to
job now we'll read verses 5 and six to you I have heard of you oh God by the
you I have heard of you oh God by the hearing of the ear now my eyes sees
hearing of the ear now my eyes sees you because of this great Revelation
you because of this great Revelation what was his
what was his response therefore I abore I despise
response therefore I abore I despise myself and repent in dust and in
ashes beloved when you look at this prophets and Patriarchs whenever they
prophets and Patriarchs whenever they had a fresh revelation of God
had a fresh revelation of God immediately that led them to a deeper
repentance this is not the case is only in the Old Testament very much so in the
in the Old Testament very much so in the New
New Testament when we just look at an
Testament when we just look at an incident in Luke's gospel 5th
incident in Luke's gospel 5th chapter all night the disciples were
chapter all night the disciples were trying to catch fish but toiling and
trying to catch fish but toiling and moing they caught
moing they caught nothing when Jesus came he asked them to
nothing when Jesus came he asked them to launch the net into the
launch the net into the deep there was such a miraculous catch
deep there was such a miraculous catch never ever they have seen such a thing
never ever they have seen such a thing in their
in their life what did Simon Peter immediately
life what did Simon Peter immediately say
say at the eighth
at the eighth words when Simon Peter saw it he fell
words when Simon Peter saw it he fell down at Jesus
down at Jesus needs what did he
needs what did he say depart from me I am a sinful man oh
say depart from me I am a sinful man oh Lord whether there is a revelation of
Lord whether there is a revelation of the Holiness of
the Holiness of God or Revelation about the vision of
God or Revelation about the vision of God or revelation of the miracle power
God or revelation of the miracle power of
of God the response was oh I am a sinful
God the response was oh I am a sinful man now I really abor
myself but today people talk about so many
many Visions they I saw
Visions they I saw Jesus they I saw heaven
Jesus they I saw heaven open so many things people talk
open so many things people talk about that only makes them arrogant and
about that only makes them arrogant and it only makes them proud nobody tells
it only makes them proud nobody tells that I saw the vision of God now what an
that I saw the vision of God now what an unclean man I am now I am repenting no
unclean man I am now I am repenting no preacher or no Prophet like
preacher or no Prophet like that this is where the modern
that this is where the modern Revelations become Highly
Questionable when you start praising God you know what should be the subject of
you know what should be the subject of your main
your main praise turn with us to book of Exodus
praise turn with us to book of Exodus 15th
15th chapter and this is actually the song of
chapter and this is actually the song of Moses and what does he say in the 11th
Moses and what does he say in the 11th words
words who is like you oh Lord among the
who is like you oh Lord among the gods who is like you glorious in
gods who is like you glorious in Holiness and fearful in
Holiness and fearful in praises and doing
praises and doing wonders Miracles don't come first or
wonders Miracles don't come first or wonders do not come
wonders do not come first glorious in
first glorious in Holiness all other things are
secondary beloved we should set our priorities right if we want to get the
priorities right if we want to get the full blessing of God's revelation
full blessing of God's revelation through his
through his word we should also you know if when we
word we should also you know if when we are the children of God we are believers
are the children of God we are believers we should never feel proud of our
we should never feel proud of our repentance looking at those who have not
repentance looking at those who have not yet repented you know
yet repented you know why repentance is not by
why repentance is not by ourselves even repentance is a gift from
ourselves even repentance is a gift from God turn with just Acts of the Apostles
God turn with just Acts of the Apostles 11th
11th chapter read the 18th
chapter read the 18th words the reporting of what happened in
words the reporting of what happened in the house of Cornelius a
the house of Cornelius a gentile and you know how they interpret
gentile and you know how they interpret it they glorified God saying that God
it they glorified God saying that God has granted to the Gentiles repentance
has granted to the Gentiles repentance to
to life who granted repentance to gentiles
life who granted repentance to gentiles God granted
God granted repentance that is why Jesus
repentance that is why Jesus said unless my father draws any man unto
said unless my father draws any man unto himself no one can come to
himself no one can come to me then how do you understand
me then how do you understand that God through his holy spirit he
that God through his holy spirit he convicts
convicts us so he is the
us so he is the initiator and our response if it is
initiator and our response if it is positive that is what repentance
positive that is what repentance is so we should never boast of our
is so we should never boast of our repentance on the face of those who have
repentance on the face of those who have not repented so
not repented so far at this moment I remember what
far at this moment I remember what happened once in the ministry of John
happened once in the ministry of John Wesley one day he was going with his
Wesley one day he was going with his associates to preach in a
associates to preach in a convention and as he was going suddenly
convention and as he was going suddenly he stopped in the middle of the road and
he stopped in the middle of the road and he started crying
he started crying his associate did not understand what
his associate did not understand what was happening to
was happening to him and you know what he
him and you know what he said there he saw Yonder a drunkard who
said there he saw Yonder a drunkard who was drawn on the dusty roads by a
was drawn on the dusty roads by a policeman you know what John Wiley
policeman you know what John Wiley said There Goes John wisley but for the
said There Goes John wisley but for the grace of
grace of God we want to make that statement again
God we want to make that statement again because it is a classic statement of
because it is a classic statement of history there there goes John Wesley but
history there there goes John Wesley but for the grace of
for the grace of God beloved not only that we should also
God beloved not only that we should also remember that we did not respond to God
remember that we did not respond to God with repentance the very first moment
with repentance the very first moment when God convicted
when God convicted us most of us took many many long years
us most of us took many many long years before saying yes to the call of
before saying yes to the call of God we almost exhausted his patience
God we almost exhausted his patience beloved
beloved God began to say whole day I'm
God began to say whole day I'm stretching forth my hand to a people of
Disobedience that is why even in the time of Noah you know what the Bible
time of Noah you know what the Bible says God said my spirit shall not always
says God said my spirit shall not always strive with
strive with man you know this is all speaking about
man you know this is all speaking about the patience of God we are trying to
the patience of God we are trying to exhaust his patience
another thing we want to tell you just because we repent we don't add
you just because we repent we don't add anything to
anything to God God does not gain something just
God God does not gain something just because we
repent we just to a very challenging passage in Book of Job 35th chapter read
passage in Book of Job 35th chapter read from verse 6 onwards if you sin what do
from verse 6 onwards if you sin what do you accomplish against to
you accomplish against to him and if your transgressions are
him and if your transgressions are multiplied what do you do to him
multiplied what do you do to him if you are righteous what do you give
if you are righteous what do you give him what does he receive from your
him what does he receive from your hand beled our repentance does not plus
hand beled our repentance does not plus anything to
anything to God and our refusal to repent does not
God and our refusal to repent does not minus anything from God
minus anything from God either God is absolutely
either God is absolutely absolute you cannot add anything to him
absolute you cannot add anything to him you cannot subtract anything from
you cannot subtract anything from him that is why Paul when he was writing
him that is why Paul when he was writing to Gentile Believers he said don't boast
to Gentile Believers he said don't boast about your repentance and acceptance in
about your repentance and acceptance in God's kingdom against the Jews or the
God's kingdom against the Jews or the people of Israel who lost it because of
Disobedience he said the people of Israel are the original branches they
Israel are the original branches they were cut off now you
were cut off now you a wild Olive Branch you're grafted into
a wild Olive Branch you're grafted into the
the tree don't become
tree don't become Hy stay
Hy stay humble if God can put you into the
humble if God can put you into the tree God can also restore them and put
tree God can also restore them and put them into the
tree beloved that is why the lesson comes to us so clearly
comes to us so clearly today never ever boast about your
today never ever boast about your repentance
repentance and never ever compare yourself with
and never ever compare yourself with other
other people we want to conclude with some of
people we want to conclude with some of the Striking statements that the Lord
the Striking statements that the Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ made turn with us to Matthew's gospel
made turn with us to Matthew's gospel 19th
19th Chapter and I will read to you the last
Chapter and I will read to you the last words even the 30th
words even the 30th words many who are first will be
words many who are first will be last and the last will be first
on the day of Resurrection there may be many many unpleasant
many many unpleasant surprise any who thought would
surprise any who thought would definitely be there will will be missing
definitely be there will will be missing there and those people whom we have
there and those people whom we have written of they may be there first in
written of they may be there first in the first
the first seats beloved these things can happen in
seats beloved these things can happen in heaven that is why the Lord Jesus Christ
heaven that is why the Lord Jesus Christ War the people in his
War the people in his times
times prostitutes and publicans will enter the
prostitutes and publicans will enter the kingdom of God before you
kingdom of God before you people now this was something which I'm
people now this was something which I'm sure the people of his day were not able
sure the people of his day were not able to take it nevertheless he said it
to take it nevertheless he said it because that is the
because that is the truth that's why Jesus told his
truth that's why Jesus told his disciples you did not choose
disciples you did not choose me I chose
me I chose you credit is not for you the credit is
you credit is not for you the credit is for me the glory is for
for me the glory is for me and and John the Beloved Apostle in
me and and John the Beloved Apostle in his writings you know what he said he
his writings you know what he said he first loved
first loved us he loved us
us he loved us first we are saved we cannot boast of
first we are saved we cannot boast of our
our Salvation repented we cannot boast of
Salvation repented we cannot boast of our
our repentance anytime we want to compare
repentance anytime we want to compare ourselves with anything that has to be
ourselves with anything that has to be only with God's
only with God's holiness never ever we should compare
holiness never ever we should compare ourselves with with other

telecast subject of our study has been during the last five weeks rep
during the last five weeks rep repentance the more we study the subject
repentance the more we study the subject of repentance the deeper and greater is
of repentance the deeper and greater is our understanding of God's
our understanding of God's love you understand that better when you
love you understand that better when you turn with us to book of Romans 2
turn with us to book of Romans 2 chapter look at the fourth words do you
chapter look at the fourth words do you despise The Riches of God's goodness
despise The Riches of God's goodness furance and longsuffering not knowing
furance and longsuffering not knowing that the goodness of God leads leads you
that the goodness of God leads leads you to
to repentance you know how is the love of
repentance you know how is the love of God manifested towards us especially in
God manifested towards us especially in the matter of
the matter of repentance first it is revealed to us as
repentance first it is revealed to us as his
his goodness then it is revealed to us as
goodness then it is revealed to us as his
his forbearance and third it is revealed to
forbearance and third it is revealed to us as his
longsuffering so the understanding of the love of God if it is deepened by our
the love of God if it is deepened by our repentance let us keep on on repenting
repentance let us keep on on repenting all our
all our lives and the topic that we're studying
lives and the topic that we're studying is how not to
is how not to repent so far we have studied Five
repent so far we have studied Five Lessons number
Lessons number one do not repent just to escape
one do not repent just to escape judgment number
judgment number two do not depend on religious
two do not depend on religious activities number three
activities number three do not isolate repentance from faith and
do not isolate repentance from faith and works and number four do not be vague in
works and number four do not be vague in your sin
your sin confession last week we studied lesson
confession last week we studied lesson number
number five do not compare yourself with
five do not compare yourself with others today we will move on to lesson
others today we will move on to lesson number
number six how not to
six how not to repent do not not differentiate between
repent do not not differentiate between SS do not differentiate between
SS do not differentiate between SS when we go to buy
SS when we go to buy dresses we talk about small size and
dresses we talk about small size and then we talk about medium size then we
then we talk about medium size then we talk about large size and then we also
talk about large size and then we also talk about extra large
talk about extra large size that is all right with our shirts
size that is all right with our shirts but that is not all right with our
but that is not all right with our sins nothing called small sin and medium
sins nothing called small sin and medium sin and there is nothing called medium
sin and there is nothing called medium sin and large
sin and large Sin Sin is
Sin Sin is Sin why do we say like
Sin why do we say like that the word sin we won't explain to
that the word sin we won't explain to you how it came from the root
you how it came from the root language for example we know the Old
language for example we know the Old Testament was written in the Hebrew
Testament was written in the Hebrew language there were actually three main
language there were actually three main root words for this English word sin in
root words for this English word sin in the Old
the Old Testament now we will explain to you one
Testament now we will explain to you one by one then you'll understand the
by one then you'll understand the seriousness of
seriousness of sin now the first one when we say sin
sin now the first one when we say sin the first Hebrew word it means missing
the first Hebrew word it means missing the
the mark and the second one is revolting
mark and the second one is revolting against the
against the standard and the third root word in
standard and the third root word in Hebrew for sin is deviating from the
standard very interestingly when David confessed his sin in Psalm 51 he used
confessed his sin in Psalm 51 he used all these three root
all these three root words please turn with us to Psalm
words please turn with us to Psalm 51 and see how he was thorough in his
51 and see how he was thorough in his confession look at the first
confession look at the first words he says blot out my transgressions
words he says blot out my transgressions the first word he uses is
the first word he uses is transgression and in the second
transgression and in the second words Wash Me thoroughly from my
words Wash Me thoroughly from my iniquities and then he says in the same
iniquities and then he says in the same second words cleanse me from my
second words cleanse me from my sin the word transgression means
sin the word transgression means revolting against the
revolting against the standard when you say inequity it is
standard when you say inequity it is deviating from the
deviating from the standard and when he say simply sin that
standard and when he say simply sin that speaks about missing the
speaks about missing the mark in other words David saw sin in all
mark in other words David saw sin in all its
seriousness take for example one of these three words that is missing the
these three words that is missing the Mark we all know about the shooting
Mark we all know about the shooting competition whether you miss the mark by
competition whether you miss the mark by 1 mm or one meter it is all the same
1 mm or one meter it is all the same once you miss the mark you missed
once you miss the mark you missed it suppose you are jumping across a wall
it suppose you are jumping across a wall and when you want to jump across a well
and when you want to jump across a well and suppose you have cleared 34 of the
and suppose you have cleared 34 of the well that doesn't mean you have done
well that doesn't mean you have done anything
anything great again you have missed the
great again you have missed the mark you go to catch a bus or a
mark you go to catch a bus or a train suppose you miss it by 1 minute or
train suppose you miss it by 1 minute or 10 minutes it is all the same
10 minutes it is all the same Sin is Sin missing is
Sin is Sin missing is missing now that is what is explained to
missing now that is what is explained to us in Book of Romans 3rd
us in Book of Romans 3rd Chapter turn with us to the 23rd
Chapter turn with us to the 23rd verse all have sinned and fall short of
verse all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God they have missed the
the glory of God they have missed the mark you know we have missed them all
mark you know we have missed them all that is the main
that is the main sin in other words God has set a target
sin in other words God has set a target for us and we are able to shoot it right
for us and we are able to shoot it right we all miss
we all miss it whether you miss it by 1 mm or one
it whether you miss it by 1 mm or one Meer again we tell you it is all the
Meer again we tell you it is all the same now that's what exactly the
same now that's what exactly the Practical Epistle of James has to teach
Practical Epistle of James has to teach us turn with us to book of James second
us turn with us to book of James second chapter read verses 10 and
chapter read verses 10 and 11 whoever shall keep the whole law yet
11 whoever shall keep the whole law yet stumbl in one point he's guilty of
stumbl in one point he's guilty of all and he explains it in the next
all and he explains it in the next words but God who said do not commit
words but God who said do not commit adultery he also said do not
adultery he also said do not murder suppose you do not commit
murder suppose you do not commit adultery but you do
adultery but you do murder you have become a transgressor of
murder you have become a transgressor of the
the law small sin medium sin bigger sin that
law small sin medium sin bigger sin that question does not arise
question does not arise that's what the thrust of the teaching
that's what the thrust of the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ concerning any
of the Lord Jesus Christ concerning any of the
of the sins turn with us for example what he
sins turn with us for example what he spoke about various sins in The Sermon
spoke about various sins in The Sermon on the
on the Mount Matthew's gospel 5th
Mount Matthew's gospel 5th chapter we'll read to you verses 21 and
chapter we'll read to you verses 21 and 22 you have heard that it was said to
22 you have heard that it was said to those of all you shall not
those of all you shall not murder he said say in verse
murder he said say in verse 22 but I say unto you whoever is angry
22 but I say unto you whoever is angry with his brother without a cause he
with his brother without a cause he shall be in danger of the
shall be in danger of the Judgment in other words Jesus says in
Judgment in other words Jesus says in the sight of God murder or anger both
the sight of God murder or anger both are the
are the same because anger leads to murder so
same because anger leads to murder so God looks at both of them with the same
seriousness now another example vers 27 28 you have heard that it was said to
28 you have heard that it was said to those of old you shall not commit
those of old you shall not commit adultery I say unto you that whoever
adultery I say unto you that whoever looks at a woman to Lust For Her has
looks at a woman to Lust For Her has committed adultery with her in his
committed adultery with her in his heart Jesus is comparing adultery and
heart Jesus is comparing adultery and lustful
lustful look man is concerned adultery is more
look man is concerned adultery is more serious than lustful
serious than lustful look but in the sight of God
look but in the sight of God the lustful look is a completed Act of
adultery beloved we must learn to see sin as Sin in God's
sin as Sin in God's Viewpoint come to the 33rd and 34th
Viewpoint come to the 33rd and 34th verses again you have heard that it was
verses again you have heard that it was said to those of old you shall not swear
said to those of old you shall not swear falsely but shall perform your Oaths to
falsely but shall perform your Oaths to the
the Lord and he comes in verse
Lord and he comes in verse 37 let your yes be yes and your no be
37 let your yes be yes and your no be no whatever is more than this is from
no whatever is more than this is from the evil
the evil one in other words Jesus here is
one in other words Jesus here is comparing life versus
comparing life versus exaggeration man will look at Li as a
exaggeration man will look at Li as a very serious
very serious thing but he does not give that much of
thing but he does not give that much of seriousness towards
exaggeration as far as Jesus is concerned yes is yes no is no any
concerned yes is yes no is no any anything more or less is of the evil
anything more or less is of the evil one so what is the
one so what is the lesson see sin as God sees
lesson see sin as God sees it that is why the Bible in several
it that is why the Bible in several places explain one and the same sin with
places explain one and the same sin with so many different
so many different words for example turn with us the book
words for example turn with us the book of Galatians 5th
of Galatians 5th chapter if you read verses 19 to 21
chapter if you read verses 19 to 21 we have the list of the works of the
we have the list of the works of the Flesh and here when Apostle deals with
Flesh and here when Apostle deals with sexual
sexual immorality you know how many words he
immorality you know how many words he gives
gives adultery
adultery fornication
fornication uncleanness and
uncleanness and lasciviousness you know all these things
lasciviousness you know all these things he bring them
he bring them together all these things speak one and
together all these things speak one and the same they all speak about sexual
the same they all speak about sexual imorality
while talking about murder you know how many words the apos employs
many words the apos employs here you know coming to the same passage
here you know coming to the same passage come towards the end of
come towards the end of it he says
it he says hatred
hatred contentions
contentions jealousies selfish ambition
jealousies selfish ambition dissensions
dissensions envy and
envy and murders you know all these things why
murders you know all these things why does God use the writers of the books of
does God use the writers of the books of the Bible to use so many shades of
the Bible to use so many shades of meaning for one and the same
meaning for one and the same sin because in the sight of God all
sin because in the sight of God all these things are one and the
these things are one and the same Envy is the same as
same Envy is the same as murder how do we say
murder how do we say that how do we say that Envy is so
that how do we say that Envy is so serious we all know the story of the
serious we all know the story of the prodical
prodical son and you come to the end of the
son and you come to the end of the story which son is INS and which son is
story which son is INS and which son is outside the younger boy is inside and
outside the younger boy is inside and the Elder boy is
the Elder boy is outside why is the elder boy
outside why is the elder boy outside because of
outside because of Envy he says that you never gave me even
Envy he says that you never gave me even a goat for my
a goat for my friends when this fellow has come
friends when this fellow has come spending all the money and the property
spending all the money and the property you are given him such a big
you are given him such a big banquet so because of that envy and
banquet so because of that envy and jealousy the Elder boy is left
jealousy the Elder boy is left out beloved according to our standards
out beloved according to our standards we say this is not so bad this is not so
we say this is not so bad this is not so serious but we should learn to look at
serious but we should learn to look at things as God looks at
them I'll give us another example let us take the sin of King Saul
example let us take the sin of King Saul and the sin of King
and the sin of King David what was the sin of Saul
David what was the sin of Saul God wanted him to destroy the Amal
God wanted him to destroy the Amal completely but he saved certain good
completely but he saved certain good materials so there was partial
materials so there was partial obedience but when you come to
obedience but when you come to David there was
David there was adultery and there was also
adultery and there was also murder but what
murder but what happened God rejected King Saul but he
happened God rejected King Saul but he established the kingdom of
established the kingdom of David God looks at things very
David God looks at things very differently I'll give us another
differently I'll give us another example there is Simon Peter and there
example there is Simon Peter and there is Judas
is Judas isar now what was the sin of Judas
isar now what was the sin of Judas isar betrayed Jesus
isar betrayed Jesus Christ all the enemies of Jesus I know
Christ all the enemies of Jesus I know him and what did Simon Peter
him and what did Simon Peter say I don't know him thce he said
say I don't know him thce he said it but what
it but what happened Judas lost his
happened Judas lost his apostleship but Simon Peter he became an
apostleship but Simon Peter he became an Apostolic
Apostolic leader God looks at things very
leader God looks at things very differently that is why we should not
differently that is why we should not excuse ourselves of saying this is only
excuse ourselves of saying this is only a small sin it's a minor
transgression now we have a warning there for us in Song of
there for us in Song of Solomon 2 chapter and 15th verse
Solomon 2 chapter and 15th verse catches the foxes the little foxes that
catches the foxes the little foxes that spoil the wine because our wines have
spoil the wine because our wines have tender
tender grapes so when the little foxes are just
grapes so when the little foxes are just neglected and ignored the fruitfulness
neglected and ignored the fruitfulness gets
gets destroyed now that's exactly if you come
destroyed now that's exactly if you come to Book of Ecclesiastes 10th
to Book of Ecclesiastes 10th chapter the first
chapter the first words dead flies purify the perfumist
words dead flies purify the perfumist ointment oh do a little Folly to one
ointment oh do a little Folly to one respected for wisdom and
respected for wisdom and honor little foxes spoil our
honor little foxes spoil our fruitfulness and the little Folly they
fruitfulness and the little Folly they completely spoil our
fragrance so beloved don't be satisfied if you are free from some of the gross
if you are free from some of the gross sins of the
sins of the flesh we must deal with the sins of the
flesh we must deal with the sins of the spirit
spirit also that's a Commandment that is given
also that's a Commandment that is given to us in 2 Corinthians 7th
to us in 2 Corinthians 7th chapter therefore having these promises
chapter therefore having these promises beloved let us cleanse ourselves from
beloved let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the Flesh and
all filthiness of the Flesh and spirit we should not only deal with the
spirit we should not only deal with the outer acts we also should take care of
outer acts we also should take care of the inner
attitude King David brings out this truth in his two major confession
truth in his two major confession Psalms one is is Psalm 32 and the other
Psalms one is is Psalm 32 and the other is Psalm
is Psalm 51 what he says in Psalm
51 what he says in Psalm 32 blessed is the man in whose Spirit
32 blessed is the man in whose Spirit there is no
there is no gu then he come to the 5m you know what
gu then he come to the 5m you know what he
he says you desire truth in the inward
says you desire truth in the inward Parts he's able to bring out that truth
Parts he's able to bring out that truth so beautifully for all of us
so beautifully for all of us now how is it
now how is it possible only when we take time quietly
possible only when we take time quietly to sit before God to turn his search
to sit before God to turn his search light turn towards the secret chambers
light turn towards the secret chambers of Our Lives we'll be able to see sin as
of Our Lives we'll be able to see sin as God say
God say it there is another thing another note
it there is another thing another note we want to add before we conclude this
we want to add before we conclude this talk only differentiation between sins
talk only differentiation between sins is between sin unto death and sin not
is between sin unto death and sin not unto
unto death when you find time you can read
death when you find time you can read that in first John 5th
that in first John 5th chapter if a man commits a sin unto
chapter if a man commits a sin unto death we cannot pray for that
death we cannot pray for that man but if you pray for a man who has
man but if you pray for a man who has committed a sin not unto death we can
committed a sin not unto death we can pray for him and it will be
pray for him and it will be forgiven what is the sin unto
forgiven what is the sin unto death it is
death it is unbelief you're coming to the Living God
unbelief you're coming to the Living God testing the gift of
testing the gift of Salvation a man denies the lordship of
Salvation a man denies the lordship of the Lord
the Lord Jesus and he just gets into total and
Jesus and he just gets into total and gross
gross unbelief even goes to
unbelief even goes to Idol now for that person you cannot do
Idol now for that person you cannot do anything there is a sin unto
anything there is a sin unto death and then there again the Lord
death and then there again the Lord Jesus Christ made another
Jesus Christ made another difference there are sins against the
difference there are sins against the son of God
son of God there are sins against the spirit of
there are sins against the spirit of God sins against the Son of God will be
God sins against the Son of God will be forgiven but sins against the holy
forgiven but sins against the holy spirit will not be
spirit will not be forgiven what does it
forgiven what does it mean God sent prophets to call man for
mean God sent prophets to call man for repentance then he sent his own
repentance then he sent his own son they killed his
son they killed his son then God sent his holy
son then God sent his holy spirit if you reject the Holy Spirit if
spirit if you reject the Holy Spirit if you refuse to obey the voice of the
you refuse to obey the voice of the spirit there is nothing more that God
spirit there is nothing more that God can
can do that becomes final there is nothing
do that becomes final there is nothing more that God can
more that God can do except for these two types of sins
do except for these two types of sins all other sins in the sight of God are
all other sins in the sight of God are just the
just the same therefore beloved do not deceive
same therefore beloved do not deceive Yourself by
Yourself by differentiating between
differentiating between SS how not to

telecast praise God for all the corrective teaching we received through
corrective teaching we received through the series of
the series of talks during the last 6 weeks we are
talks during the last 6 weeks we are studying the subject of
studying the subject of repentance repentance is perhaps the
repentance repentance is perhaps the most basic doctrine of
most basic doctrine of Christ even so it is not so much stress
Christ even so it is not so much stress are preached from the
are preached from the pulpits occasionally the word repentance
pulpits occasionally the word repentance is mentioned but it is not properly and
is mentioned but it is not properly and sufficiently
sufficiently explained and among the people the word
explained and among the people the word repentance is grossly
repentance is grossly misunderstood that is why the topic that
misunderstood that is why the topic that we are considering is how not to
we are considering is how not to repent so far we have done six
repent so far we have done six lessons lesson number
lessons lesson number one do not repent just to escape
one do not repent just to escape judgment number two do not depend on
judgment number two do not depend on religious
religious activities lesson number

three do not isolate repentance from faith and
faith and works lesson number four do not be vague
works lesson number four do not be vague in your sin
in your sin confession lesson number
confession lesson number five do not compare yourself with others
five do not compare yourself with others and last week we studied lesson number
and last week we studied lesson number six how not to
six how not to repent do not differentiate between
repent do not differentiate between sins today we will move on to lesson
sins today we will move on to lesson number seven how not to
number seven how not to repent do not slight the sins of
repent do not slight the sins of omission do not slight the sins of
omission do not slight the sins of omission sins can be broadly classified
omission sins can be broadly classified ified into two
ified into two sections One S of
sections One S of commission the other one s of
commission the other one s of omission doing what we should not
omission doing what we should not do and not doing what we should
do and not doing what we should do the world looks primarily at the sins
do the world looks primarily at the sins of commission very
of commission very seriously it neglects and it ignores the
seriously it neglects and it ignores the sin of
sin of omission but God treats both these sins
omission but God treats both these sins alike the sight of God sins of
alike the sight of God sins of commission as well as the sins of
commission as well as the sins of omission are just the
omission are just the same and while we are talking about Sin
same and while we are talking about Sin confession we occupy ourselves very much
confession we occupy ourselves very much with the sins of commission
with the sins of commission only our church fathers had a different
only our church fathers had a different perspective which is more
perspective which is more biblical now for example if you take the
biblical now for example if you take the common book of Prayer
common book of Prayer which is used in the Anglican
which is used in the Anglican Church a general sin
Church a general sin confession this is how it
confession this is how it begins we did not what we ought to but
begins we did not what we ought to but we did what we ought
we did what we ought not in other words they start with the
not in other words they start with the sense of omission and then they moved on
sense of omission and then they moved on to the sense of
to the sense of commission I believe that is the right
commission I believe that is the right understanding and that is the right
understanding and that is the right perspective of biblical
perspective of biblical repentance turn with us with to the Book
repentance turn with us with to the Book of Matthew 25th
of Matthew 25th chapter now here lots of things are
chapter now here lots of things are mentioned as to what will happen on the
mentioned as to what will happen on the last
last days King will divide the people one to
days King will divide the people one to the left and the other to the
the left and the other to the right those who are turned to send to
right those who are turned to send to the right they will inherit eternal life
the right they will inherit eternal life with
with God and those who are turned to the left
God and those who are turned to the left they will inherit only ET etal
they will inherit only ET etal fire see what the king would say to
fire see what the king would say to those who have gone to the
those who have gone to the left Matthew 25 from verse 41
left Matthew 25 from verse 41 onwards then the king will also say to
onwards then the king will also say to those on the left hand depart from me
those on the left hand depart from me you cursed into the Everlasting fire
you cursed into the Everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his
prepared for the devil and his angels because I was hungry you gave me
angels because I was hungry you gave me no food I was thirsty and you gave me no
no food I was thirsty and you gave me no drink I was a stranger you did not take
drink I was a stranger you did not take me in I was naked and you did not
me in I was naked and you did not closethe
closethe me I was sick and in prison and you did
me I was sick and in prison and you did not visit
not visit me now this list very clearly says they
me now this list very clearly says they were condemned for the sins of omission
were condemned for the sins of omission you did not do it you did not do it you
you did not do it you did not do it you did not do
did not do it look at verse 44
then he would answer them saying I surely say to you in as much as you did
surely say to you in as much as you did not do it you know their were the sins
not do it you know their were the sins of omission that was the primary cause
of omission that was the primary cause of being sent away to Eternal
of being sent away to Eternal fire we are all very familiar with the
fire we are all very familiar with the Story of Lazarus and the rich
Story of Lazarus and the rich man what was the primary sin of the rich
man what was the primary sin of the rich man was not as sin of commission but
man was not as sin of commission but rather it was a sin of
rather it was a sin of omission for
omission for example Lazarus was lying at his
example Lazarus was lying at his gate the rich man did not build even an
gate the rich man did not build even an outer house for
outer house for him and we know Lazarus was looking
him and we know Lazarus was looking forward to the crumbs that will fall
forward to the crumbs that will fall down from this rich man's
down from this rich man's table that means the rich man did not
table that means the rich man did not feed Lazarus
feed Lazarus and we read that docks came and licked
and we read that docks came and licked the source of
the source of Lazarus which means the rich man did not
Lazarus which means the rich man did not give Lazarus whatever medical help was
give Lazarus whatever medical help was necessary humorously most important of
necessary humorously most important of all the rich man did not tie his
all the rich man did not tie his dog now why did he go to
dog now why did he go to hell he did not commit
hell he did not commit adultery he did not murder any
adultery he did not murder any anybody he did not steal another man's
anybody he did not steal another man's property he went to hell not for what he
property he went to hell not for what he did but what he did
did but what he did not beloved if we also are over occupied
not beloved if we also are over occupied with the S of commission only I would
with the S of commission only I would say that it is a return to the Old
say that it is a return to the Old Testament
Testament religion for example the 10
religion for example the 10 commandments you can read them in the th
commandments you can read them in the th chapter of book of
chapter of book of Exodus and if you very carefully read
Exodus and if you very carefully read all the 10
all the 10 commandments will notice eight out of
commandments will notice eight out of the 10 commandments say thou shalt not
the 10 commandments say thou shalt not Thou shalt not Thou shalt
Thou shalt not Thou shalt not only two which do not say thou shalt
not only two which do not say thou shalt not one is relating to
not one is relating to Sabbath and the other one is relating to
Sabbath and the other one is relating to the honor that is due to our parents
the honor that is due to our parents and even in the Commandment referring to
and even in the Commandment referring to Sabbath there also it say thou shalt not
Sabbath there also it say thou shalt not work and you know what happens when we
work and you know what happens when we are occupied too much with this not not
are occupied too much with this not not not n ultimately these NS kns will
not n ultimately these NS kns will become kns
kots turn with us to book of Colossians where there is actually a rebuke on that
where there is actually a rebuke on that kind of of
kind of of religion second
religion second chapter we'll read from verse 20 on to
chapter we'll read from verse 20 on to verse
verse 22 if you died with Christ from the
22 if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world why as
basic principles of the world why as though living in the world do you
though living in the world do you subject yourselves to regulations do not
subject yourselves to regulations do not touch do not taste and do not
touch do not taste and do not handle now this is all a religion of
handle now this is all a religion of man don't do that don't do that don't do
man don't do that don't do that don't do that
that that's what the Bible says In this
that's what the Bible says In this passage they are all the Commandments
passage they are all the Commandments and doctrines of
and doctrines of men you know actually the Pharisees of
men you know actually the Pharisees of Jesus time they were obeying all the
Jesus time they were obeying all the Commandments especially the nine
Commandments especially the nine Commandments of the Ten
Commandments of the Ten Commandments and only one thing they
Commandments and only one thing they found it difficult that was honoring the
found it difficult that was honoring the parents even for that they invented a
parents even for that they invented a substitute and called that a
Corban that is why beloved if you read through the Old Testament message of the
through the Old Testament message of the prophets you find again and again the
prophets you find again and again the call was for repentance and mainly from
call was for repentance and mainly from the sins of
omission take for example call of Prophet Daniel and King nebuchad
Prophet Daniel and King nebuchad nzar Book of Daniel 4th
nzar Book of Daniel 4th chapter we'll read to you verse 27
chapter we'll read to you verse 27 therefore oh King let my counsel be
therefore oh King let my counsel be accepted to you break off your sins by
accepted to you break off your sins by being righteous and your iniquities by
being righteous and your iniquities by showing Mercy to the
showing Mercy to the poor so what is that the iniquity that
poor so what is that the iniquity that he should break off the prophet is
he should break off the prophet is calling the king to
calling the king to do he says you start showing Mercy to
do he says you start showing Mercy to the poor people that means you have been
the poor people that means you have been grossly neglecting your duty to the poor
grossly neglecting your duty to the poor now you begin to show Mercy to the poor
now you begin to show Mercy to the poor that way you it will be broken
that way you it will be broken off that was the same thing that prophet
off that was the same thing that prophet Isaiah also gave a call to
Isaiah also gave a call to people book of Isaiah first
people book of Isaiah first chapter we'll read verses 17 and
chapter we'll read verses 17 and 18 learn to do good in the previous
18 learn to do good in the previous words he says cease to do
words he says cease to do evil what is the good thing that you are
evil what is the good thing that you are supposed to be
supposed to be doing seek Justice
doing seek Justice reprove the
reprove the oppressor defend the
oppressor defend the fatherless and plead for the
fatherless and plead for the Widow you see essentially the call was
Widow you see essentially the call was to repent from the sins of
to repent from the sins of omission now this Prophet was speaking
omission now this Prophet was speaking about this fast that God has really
about this fast that God has really Chosen and is pleased
Chosen and is pleased with turn with us to book of Isaiah 58th
with turn with us to book of Isaiah 58th chapter and we'll read to you verse 6
chapter and we'll read to you verse 6 and
and 7 is this not the fast that I have
7 is this not the fast that I have chosen number one to lose the bonds of
chosen number one to lose the bonds of wickedness to undo the heavy
wickedness to undo the heavy burdens to let the oppressed Go
burdens to let the oppressed Go free and that you break every
free and that you break every yoke is it not to share your bread with
yoke is it not to share your bread with the
the hungry and that you bring to your house
hungry and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast
the poor who are cast out and when you see the naked that you
out and when you see the naked that you cover
cover him you see all these things God says
him you see all these things God says only when you do that that is an
only when you do that that is an acceptable fasting before
me that is why John the Baptist who was perhaps the last of the Old Testament
perhaps the last of the Old Testament prophets his message was concentrating
prophets his message was concentrating on the sins of
omission for example when people asked him what should we
him what should we do what he immediately tell
do what he immediately tell them if you got two dresses give one to
them if you got two dresses give one to the one who has
the one who has none if you got more food than what you
none if you got more food than what you can consume just share it with somebody
can consume just share it with somebody who is really
who is really hungry beloved Holiness in the sight of
hungry beloved Holiness in the sight of God has got these two
God has got these two sides one side of Holiness is you love
sides one side of Holiness is you love good and the other one is hate
good and the other one is hate evil if you fail in that first aspect of
evil if you fail in that first aspect of loving that which is
loving that which is good it will invariably lead you to sins
good it will invariably lead you to sins of
of omission if you fail in that area of
omission if you fail in that area of hating
hating evil that will invariably lead you to
evil that will invariably lead you to sins of
commission you know how did Jesus Christ balance this in his Earthly
balance this in his Earthly life turn with this to book of Hebrews
life turn with this to book of Hebrews there is a beautiful testimony about him
there is a beautiful testimony about him Hebrews first
Hebrews first chapter we'll read the ninth verse to
chapter we'll read the ninth verse to you you have loved
you you have loved righteousness and hated
righteousness and hated lawlessness first thing is positive that
lawlessness first thing is positive that speaks about the sins of omission and
speaks about the sins of omission and the second one is negative that speaks
the second one is negative that speaks about the sin of
commission we have to balance our chrisan
chrisan life do what is good don't do what is
life do what is good don't do what is evil we should not separate this one
evil we should not separate this one from the
from the other all over Christendom there is a
other all over Christendom there is a great imbalance in this
great imbalance in this area if you turn to several passages in
area if you turn to several passages in the Old Testament you find these two
the Old Testament you find these two always go
always go together look at some sample
together look at some sample verses Psalm 34th
verses Psalm 34th chapter look at the 14th
chapter look at the 14th words depart from Evil and do
words depart from Evil and do good you know these are balanced here
good you know these are balanced here both go together that's why I said that
both go together that's why I said that these two are the two sides of biblical
these two are the two sides of biblical Holiness turn with this to book of
Holiness turn with this to book of Psalms 37th
Psalms 37th chapter and look at the 27th
chapter and look at the 27th words depart from Evil and do good
words depart from Evil and do good so beloved today maybe we can just think
so beloved today maybe we can just think of areas where we have failed in the
of areas where we have failed in the matter of doing good and guilty of the
matter of doing good and guilty of the sins of
omission then comes a question when you talk about these Good Deeds is it not
talk about these Good Deeds is it not talking about salvation by
talking about salvation by works no beloved there is a correction
works no beloved there is a correction that is
that is necessary we are not saved by
necessary we are not saved by words but we are saved for
words but we are saved for work we are not saved by
work we are not saved by words but we are saved for
words now both these things are beautifully brought together by Apostle
beautifully brought together by Apostle Paul in his epistle to the
Paul in his epistle to the Ephesians book of Ephesians 2
Ephesians book of Ephesians 2 chapter we'll read verses 9 and
chapter we'll read verses 9 and 10 not of Works lest anyone should
10 not of Works lest anyone should boast we are his workmanship created in
boast we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good
Christ Jesus for good work so we are not saved by works but we
work so we are not saved by works but we are saved for
works when we repent from the sins of commission that perhaps we can call as
commission that perhaps we can call as step number one in
step number one in Holiness and we should not stop there
Holiness and we should not stop there should also repent from the sins of
should also repent from the sins of omission only then we are completing and
omission only then we are completing and we are perfecting our
we are perfecting our Holiness that is why the Bible
Holiness that is why the Bible says he who is Holy let him become
says he who is Holy let him become Holier
Holier still then there may be a question is it
still then there may be a question is it not a social
not a social gospel beloved we want to tell you there
gospel beloved we want to tell you there is nothing called Social Gospel
is nothing called Social Gospel and there is nothing called spiritual
and there is nothing called spiritual gospel only one
gospel only one gospel that's the Gospel of Jesus
gospel that's the Gospel of Jesus Christ has got two sides has got two
Christ has got two sides has got two Dimensions one is
Dimensions one is spiritual and the other one is
spiritual and the other one is social now both the needs of man that is
social now both the needs of man that is the spiritual needs as well as the
the spiritual needs as well as the social needs are met in the Gospel of
social needs are met in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ if we leave out one aspect or one
if we leave out one aspect or one dimension it becomes like half baked
dimension it becomes like half baked bread or it is like a bird which has
bread or it is like a bird which has lots one of its
wings beloved in this area God wants us to come back to the biblical
balance sins of omission in the sight of God are as serious as the sins of
God are as serious as the sins of commission
all these years whenever we knelt down before God to confess our sins we only
before God to confess our sins we only thought about Sin of
thought about Sin of commission now maybe we can progress or
commission now maybe we can progress or we can go one step higher in our walk of
we can go one step higher in our walk of Holiness you can take a piece of paper
Holiness you can take a piece of paper and write down what are the things that
and write down what are the things that you ought to have done but you have not
you ought to have done but you have not done and just look at them just like God
done and just look at them just like God looks at them
looks at them and confess them honestly before
and confess them honestly before God it is relating to the sins of
God it is relating to the sins of omission Isaiah said though your sins
omission Isaiah said though your sins may be as Scarlet they shall become
may be as Scarlet they shall become white as
snow beloved most of the biblical Promises of cleansing and forgiveness

Alexandria an eloquent man and mighty in the scriptures came to
the scriptures came to Ephesians this man had been instructed
Ephesians this man had been instructed in the way of the Lord and being fervent
in the way of the Lord and being fervent in spirit he spoke and taught accurately
in spirit he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord though he had
the things of the Lord though he had known only the baptism of
known only the baptism of John so he began to speak boldly in the
John so he began to speak boldly in the synagogue when aula and prisilla heard
synagogue when aula and prisilla heard him they took him aside and explained to
him they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more
accurately previous words we read he was accurately teaching the word of
accurately teaching the word of God but this couple when they were

listening to him they found sometime di menion was missing in this man's
menion was missing in this man's talk so he immediately took him aside
talk so he immediately took him aside and ministered to him so that he would
and ministered to him so that he would understand the way of God more
accurately when you come to verse 28 vigorously refuted the Jews publicly
28 vigorously refuted the Jews publicly showing from the scriptures that Jesus
showing from the scriptures that Jesus is the

number eight how not to
eight how not to repent do not ignore reconciliation with
repent do not ignore reconciliation with men do not NE neglect or ignore
men do not NE neglect or ignore reconciliation with
reconciliation with men beloved repentance is not only
men beloved repentance is not only getting right with God it is also
getting right with God it is also getting right with our fellow
getting right with our fellow men because our sins are not only
men because our sins are not only against God they are also against our
against God they are also against our fellow
fellow men for
men for example The Ten
example The Ten Commandments The Ten Commandments can be
Commandments The Ten Commandments can be div divided into two
div divided into two sections Commandments 1 to 4 speak of
sections Commandments 1 to 4 speak of our duty to
our duty to God and from commandment number five on
God and from commandment number five on to the 10th commandment they speak about
to the 10th commandment they speak about our duty to
our duty to man that is why Jesus Christ summarized
man that is why Jesus Christ summarized both and he said when he was talking to
both and he said when he was talking to that Young
that Young Ruler love God and love man
Ruler love God and love man in other words Jesus Christ brought both
in other words Jesus Christ brought both these two things together to give equal
importance now if you take the symbol of the
the cross one is a vertical
cross one is a vertical STA and the other one is a horizontal
STA and the other one is a horizontal staff and now you find the vertical one
staff and now you find the vertical one speaks of our relationship with
speaks of our relationship with God and the horizontal stop that speaks
God and the horizontal stop that speaks about our relationship with one
another let's look at some biblical examples to understand this uh balance
examples to understand this uh balance of our turning back to God or returning
of our turning back to God or returning to
to God turn with us to Book of Proverbs 6th
God turn with us to Book of Proverbs 6th chapter read from verse 16 on to verse

you are watching this telekast turn to the biblical references to get a better
the biblical references to get a better working knowledge of the
working knowledge of the scriptures book of proverb 6th
scriptures book of proverb 6th chapter read from verse 16 on to verse

lies and one who SS discard among Brothers you know there are seven sins
Brothers you know there are seven sins which are listed here as to God hates
which are listed here as to God hates them and you find almost all the seven
them and you find almost all the seven of them they speak about our
of them they speak about our interpersonal
relationship we often refer to the story of the prodal son when we talk about
of the prodal son when we talk about repentance now if you look at his
repentance now if you look at his repentance his repentance had these two
repentance his repentance had these two Dimensions Luke's gospel 15th
Dimensions Luke's gospel 15th chapter look at the 18th
chapter look at the 18th verse he tells to himself I will arise
verse he tells to himself I will arise and go and say to my father and I will
and go and say to my father and I will say to him father I have sinned against
say to him father I have sinned against heaven and before
heaven and before you when you come to verse
you when you come to verse 21 son said to the father father I have
21 son said to the father father I have sinned against heaven and in your
sight now we often talk about John the Baptist whenever we deal with the
Baptist whenever we deal with the subject of
subject of repentance his message also was twofold
repentance his message also was twofold when you talk about repentance
when you talk about repentance that was his basic call to be a
that was his basic call to be a prophet turn with this to the first
prophet turn with this to the first chapter of Luke's
chapter of Luke's gospel read verses 16 and 17 very
gospel read verses 16 and 17 very important
important verses this is a prophecy about that
verses this is a prophecy about that baby John the
baby John the Baptist it says he will turn many of the
Baptist it says he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their
children of Israel to the Lord their God First Dimension
God First Dimension and then comes the horizontal
and then comes the horizontal Dimension he will also go before him in
Dimension he will also go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn
the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to the
children so you find there are two Dimensions one turning the hearts of
Dimensions one turning the hearts of people towards
people towards God the other one the hearts of the
God the other one the hearts of the fathers and the children towards one
fathers and the children towards one that is the horizontal
Dimension now Apostle Paul Amplified this two dimensional repentance in most
this two dimensional repentance in most of his
of his Epistles turn with us for an example to
Epistles turn with us for an example to book of Romans 8th
book of Romans 8th chapter I'll read to you the first words
chapter I'll read to you the first words there is a definition for
repentance now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus number one who
who are in Christ Jesus number one who do not walk according to the Flesh and
do not walk according to the Flesh and number two who walk according to the
number two who walk according to the spirit
is a new life number one do not walk according to
life number one do not walk according to the
the Flesh and number two walk according to
Flesh and number two walk according to the
the spirit these are very vague terms what
spirit these are very vague terms what is walking according to the Flesh and
is walking according to the Flesh and what is walking according to the
what is walking according to the spirit but there is something that is
spirit but there is something that is very clearly explained to us in book of
very clearly explained to us in book of Galatians fth
Galatians fth chapter from verse 19 to
chapter from verse 19 to 21 speaks about the works of the
21 speaks about the works of the flesh look at the 19th words of
flesh look at the 19th words of Galatians 5th
Galatians 5th chapter what are the works of the
chapter what are the works of the flesh

Flesh and out of the 17 sins which are mentioned as the works of the
mentioned as the works of the flesh you find eight of them referring
flesh you find eight of them referring to our interpersonal
relationship for example the 20th words
the 20th words hatred and then
hatred and then contention
jealousy selfish ambition
ambition disension you find these eight things
disension you find these eight things are mentioned there relating to our
are mentioned there relating to our interpersonal
relationships then we have to now contrast it with the fruit of the
contrast it with the fruit of the spirit now when you come to verses 21 to
spirit now when you come to verses 21 to 23
23 what are the fruits of the
what are the fruits of the spirit
spirit love
love joy
joy peace
peace longsuffering
longsuffering kindness
kindness goodness
goodness faithfulness
faithfulness gentleness and self
gentleness and self control now you find almost all these
control now you find almost all these nine fruit of the spirit they refer to
nine fruit of the spirit they refer to interpersonal relationships
now are you able to understand when you talk about repentance getting right with
talk about repentance getting right with man is a very important significant
man is a very important significant aspect that is why Jesus Christ put
aspect that is why Jesus Christ put reconciliation
reconciliation first turn with us to Matthew's gospel
first turn with us to Matthew's gospel 5th
5th chapter read to verses 23 and
24 if you bring your gift to the alt Al there remember that your brother has
Al there remember that your brother has something against
something against you leave your gift there before the
you leave your gift there before the altar go your way first be reconciled to
altar go your way first be reconciled to your
your brother then come and offer the
gift beloved here the Lord Jesus Christ says reconciliation must be done
first immediately there may come a theological question
theological question is reconciliation a condition for
is reconciliation a condition for salvation reconciliation is not a
salvation reconciliation is not a condition for
condition for salvation but it is definitely an
salvation but it is definitely an Evidence of
Salvation turn with us for a very classic passage in first
classic passage in first John third
John third chapter 14th
chapter 14th verse we know that we have passed from
verse we know that we have passed from Death to life because we love the
Death to life because we love the brothers Bible does not say we pass from
brothers Bible does not say we pass from Death to life when we love the
Death to life when we love the brothers but Bible says when we love the
brothers but Bible says when we love the brothers by that we are able to know
brothers by that we are able to know there is an evidence that you have
there is an evidence that you have passed from Death to
passed from Death to life that was really exemplified in the
life that was really exemplified in the conversion of zakaras
conversion of zakaras you know that but you turn to that
you know that but you turn to that passage now Luke's gospel 19th
passage now Luke's gospel 19th Chapter I look at the e
Chapter I look at the e words Jesus came to his doorstep what
words Jesus came to his doorstep what did he
did he say zakiah stood and said to the Lord
say zakiah stood and said to the Lord look Lord you know he's giving an
look Lord you know he's giving an Evidence look Lord I give half of my
Evidence look Lord I give half of my goods to the
goods to the poor if I have taken anything from
poor if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation I will
anyone by false accusation I will restore it forf
friends who are watching this program make a list of people with whom you have
make a list of people with whom you have to go and
to go and reconcile go and reconcile with
reconcile go and reconcile with them and if you have taken anything
them and if you have taken anything illegally from other people return it to
illegally from other people return it to them or if you have taken anything from
them or if you have taken anything from your work spot which does not belong to
your work spot which does not belong to you return it and set the matters
right belowed such matters of reconciliation and restitutions were
reconciliation and restitutions were very common in the Revival ministries of
very common in the Revival ministries of John Wesley and Charles
John Wesley and Charles finni these days it has become very
finni these days it has become very rare but beloved we should always
rare but beloved we should always remember Holiness has got two sides
remember Holiness has got two sides living right with God and living right
living right with God and living right with our fellow
with our fellow man turn with us the book of Hebrews
man turn with us the book of Hebrews 12th
12th chapter 14th ver
chapter 14th ver pursue peace with all men and Holiness
pursue peace with all men and Holiness without which no man can see the
without which no man can see the Lord Holiness and living in peace both
Lord Holiness and living in peace both go
together one day when Apostle Paul was standing in defense before Governor
standing in defense before Governor Felix you know what he
Felix you know what he said I strive always to keep a
said I strive always to keep a conscience void of offense before God
conscience void of offense before God and before
and before man that was his constant striving ever
man that was his constant striving ever and that he testified before that
and that he testified before that government
official then there may come a question I have tried with that person
question I have tried with that person to reconcile but somehow it has become
to reconcile but somehow it has become impossible what shall I do
impossible what shall I do now we have got an answer from the Holy
now we have got an answer from the Holy Bible turn with us to Romans 12th
Bible turn with us to Romans 12th chapter
chapter 18th
18th verse the Bible says if it is possible
verse the Bible says if it is possible as much as depends on you live peaceably
as much as depends on you live peaceably with all
men now that means maybe some candidates with whom it will be absolutely
with whom it will be absolutely impossible to live in
impossible to live in peace but that doesn't mean you have to
peace but that doesn't mean you have to just make a superficial attempt for
just make a superficial attempt for it it says as much as it depends on on
it it says as much as it depends on on you in other words you should exhaust
you in other words you should exhaust all
all possibilities and you should spare no
possibilities and you should spare no pains in trying to live peaceably with
pains in trying to live peaceably with that
that person suppose it is not
person suppose it is not possible then verses 19 to 21 tell us
possible then verses 19 to 21 tell us what we are supposed to be
what we are supposed to be doing Bel do not avenge
yourselves and when you come to verse 20 if your enemy is hungry you feed
if your enemy is hungry you feed him you know beloved that we should not
him you know beloved that we should not entertain bitterness against those who
entertain bitterness against those who with whom we are not able to set matters
with whom we are not able to set matters right keep on doing
right keep on doing good we have a father who is perfect who
good we have a father who is perfect who is so liberal and who is so
generous so beloved in the matter of repentance when we talk about repentance
repentance when we talk about repentance never ever throw away this important
never ever throw away this important commitment to reconcile with people and
commitment to reconcile with people and restitute
matters if only this truth will be restored to our
restored to our pulpits there will definitely be an
pulpits there will definitely be an unusual and unprecedented Revival in
unusual and unprecedented Revival in Christendom until then all the
Christendom until then all the conversions of repentance will only be
conversions of repentance will only be shallow and superficial
repentance means not only getting right with God it is also getting right with
with God it is also getting right with one
one another may the Lord give us Grace to

repent do not mistake God's patience how not to
patience how not to repent do not mistake God's
patience one of the earlier studies we saw how it is actually God who grants us
repentance but at the same time we should realize he does not force any one
should realize he does not force any one of us to
of us to repent he respects our Free Will and
repent he respects our Free Will and choice Holy Spirit only convicts
choice Holy Spirit only convicts us but repentance is our response that
us but repentance is our response that is our responsibility
is our responsibility because this is so beloved God often
because this is so beloved God often Waites for our
Waites for our repentance the patience of God I want to
repentance the patience of God I want to tell you is always to give us ample time
tell you is always to give us ample time for
repentance now if you turn with us to a few passages this truth stands out very
few passages this truth stands out very clearly turn with this to book of Romans
clearly turn with this to book of Romans second
second chapter read the fourth
chapter read the fourth verse do you despise The Riches of his
verse do you despise The Riches of his goodness forbearance and longsuffering
goodness forbearance and longsuffering not knowing that the goodness of God
not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to
repentance we are not to despise the patience of God because the patience of
patience of God because the patience of God in indirectly it urges us to
repent now turn again to second Peter and we will look at the third chapter to
and we will look at the third chapter to see a similar
see a similar statement third chapter 9th
statement third chapter 9th verse the Lord is not slack concerning
verse the Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some people count it
his promise as some people count it slackness but he is longsuffering
slackness but he is longsuffering towards us not willing that any should
towards us not willing that any should perish but that all should come to
repentance look also at the 15th words of the
of the chapter count that the longsuffering of
chapter count that the longsuffering of Our Lord is
salvation Bel when we say that God often waits for our
waits for our repentance we also should realize that
repentance we also should realize that God's patient has got a
God's patient has got a limit this truth runs throughout the
limit this truth runs throughout the scriptures
scriptures B now we can start with even the Book of
B now we can start with even the Book of Genesis look at the times of
Genesis look at the times of Noah if you turn to the sixth chapter of
Noah if you turn to the sixth chapter of Genesis third
Genesis third words after God being patient with
words after God being patient with Mankind's wickedness for so many long
Mankind's wickedness for so many long years finally you know what he
years finally you know what he said and the Lord said my spirit shall
said and the Lord said my spirit shall not always strive with man is After All
not always strive with man is After All Flesh and his day shall be just 120
Flesh and his day shall be just 120 years beloved when we talk about God's
years beloved when we talk about God's patience we want to tell you something
patience we want to tell you something about how the Holy Spirit deals with us
about how the Holy Spirit deals with us in this
in this area God says my spirit shall not always
area God says my spirit shall not always strive with
strive with man now that means up to a point of time
man now that means up to a point of time we keep on resisting the Holy Spirit
at some point the Holy Spirit gets deeply hurt and
deeply hurt and grieved if you still continue to do that
grieved if you still continue to do that to the Holy
to the Holy Spirit you know what happens the Holy
Spirit you know what happens the Holy Spirit gets
quench in other words his activity in your life gets
your life gets stopped now that's what exactly was the
stopped now that's what exactly was the observation of psalmist David
observation of psalmist David turn with us to book of Psalms 7th
turn with us to book of Psalms 7th chapter if you look at the 11th and the
chapter if you look at the 11th and the 12th
12th verses God is a just
verses God is a just judge and he is angry with the wicked
judge and he is angry with the wicked every
every day if he does not turn back he will
day if he does not turn back he will sharpen his
sharpen his sword every day the anger of the Lord
sword every day the anger of the Lord get increased and intensified
this was the observation and understanding of King Solomon
understanding of King Solomon also turn with us to Book of Proverbs
also turn with us to Book of Proverbs 29th
29th chapter verse
chapter verse one he who is often reproved and hardens
one he who is often reproved and hardens his neck will suddenly be destroyed and
his neck will suddenly be destroyed and that without
remedy that is why prophet Isaiah gave a very clear call to the people people of
very clear call to the people people of God who kept on delaying their
God who kept on delaying their repentance turn with this the book of
repentance turn with this the book of Isaiah 55th
Isaiah 55th chapter look at the sixth
chapter look at the sixth words seek the Lord while he may be
words seek the Lord while he may be found in other words at some point of
found in other words at some point of time he would like to call on the Lord
time he would like to call on the Lord and seek the Lord he will not be
and seek the Lord he will not be found and call upon him while he is near
so we know these are all words of tremendous warning that come to every
tremendous warning that come to every one of
us usually God Waits until the cup of iniquity begins to
overflow that's what happened in King basar
basar time turn with this The Book of Daniel
time turn with this The Book of Daniel and there is a dramatic Narrative of
and there is a dramatic Narrative of what happens
what happens Book of Daniel 5th
Book of Daniel 5th chapter look at the second

words the king tasted the wine basar gave the command to bring the gold and
gave the command to bring the gold and silver vessels which father nebuchad
silver vessels which father nebuchad nesar had taken from the
nesar had taken from the temple they not only brought these
temple they not only brought these vessels the Sanctified vessels from the
vessels the Sanctified vessels from the temple fourth
temple fourth words they drank wine and praised the
words they drank wine and praised the gods of gold and silver and bronze and
gods of gold and silver and bronze and iron and wood and
iron and wood and stone God's patience was running
stone God's patience was running out what
out what happens same hour the fingers of a man's
happens same hour the fingers of a man's hand appeared and wrote on the
hand appeared and wrote on the wall beloved before the handwriting is
wall beloved before the handwriting is appearing on the walls of our life let
appearing on the walls of our life let us repent
now that was exactly the lamentation of the Lord Jesus Christ concerning
Jerusalem turn with us to Matthew 23rd chapter at verses 37 and
38 oh Jerusalem Jerusalem the one who kills the prophets and Stones those who
kills the prophets and Stones those who are sent to
are sent to her how often I wanted to gather your
her how often I wanted to gather your children together as a hen gathers her
children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings but you are not
chicks under her wings but you are not willing see now your house is Left To
willing see now your house is Left To You
desolate beloved let us be very careful and cautious when we approach the
and cautious when we approach the subject of repentance and let us not
subject of repentance and let us not test God's
patience you know what are the normal excuses the mental excuses that we are
excuses the mental excuses that we are presenting in order to delay our
presenting in order to delay our repentance you know we begin to think my
repentance you know we begin to think my sin is not as bad as the sins of
sin is not as bad as the sins of others now we want to present an example
others now we want to present an example from the life of the Lord Jesus
from the life of the Lord Jesus Christ people told him how pilate had
Christ people told him how pilate had mixed the blood of some galileans with
mixed the blood of some galileans with his
sacrifice and immediately Jesus said you think you are all better than
said you think you are all better than they or they were worse than
they or they were worse than you remember if you do not repent you
you remember if you do not repent you also will likewise
perish then he served another example the Tower of silom it fell and
example the Tower of silom it fell and 18 people were
18 people were killed and immediately Jesus
killed and immediately Jesus said do you think you are better than
said do you think you are better than those people and those people were worse
those people and those people were worse than
than you no oh I tell you unless you repent
you no oh I tell you unless you repent you also will likewise
perish another excuse you know what comes up our minds so we delay our
repentance God did not punish me earlier when they committed the same
when they committed the same sin turn with us there is a warning for
sin turn with us there is a warning for us in Book of Ecclesiastes and 8th
us in Book of Ecclesiastes and 8th chapter 11th and the 12th verses
chapter 11th and the 12th verses because the Judgment against an evil
because the Judgment against an evil work is not executed
work is not executed speedily therefore the heart of the sons
speedily therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set them to do
evil Bel God does not immediately punishers as we have already seen he
punishers as we have already seen he waits just because there is no instant
waits just because there is no instant punishment don't mistake
punishment don't mistake God that's what exactly the apostles
God that's what exactly the apostles told the people wherever they went to
told the people wherever they went to preach the gospel
preach the gospel acts of the Apostle 17th
acts of the Apostle 17th chapter at the 30th
chapter at the 30th words truly the times of ignorance God
words truly the times of ignorance God overlooks but now he commands all men
overlooks but now he commands all men everywhere to
repenter maybe you did not have enough light but today you have more light on
light but today you have more light on the subject so you are becoming more and
the subject so you are becoming more and more accountable
another excuse you know what we normally present I'm living under
present I'm living under grace we C that scripture words wrongly
grace we C that scripture words wrongly you know what we say where sin abounded
you know what we say where sin abounded Grace did much more
Grace did much more abound but you know what Apostle Paul
abound but you know what Apostle Paul argues about
argues about that because Grace abounds shall we
that because Grace abounds shall we continue to abide in
continue to abide in sin certainly
sin certainly not in other words you know what he says
not in other words you know what he says Grace is not an excuse but it is only an
Grace is not an excuse but it is only an enablement so we may live acceptable
enablement so we may live acceptable before
God and another excuse you know what we unconsciously think
unconsciously think about Christ is my advocate he is not my
about Christ is my advocate he is not my accuser but you know what the Bible says
accuser but you know what the Bible says in 1 John 2
in 1 John 2 chapter if you look at the second
chapter if you look at the second portion of the first words
portion of the first words if anyone sins we have an advocate with
if anyone sins we have an advocate with the father Jesus Christ the
the father Jesus Christ the righteous why does he write
righteous why does he write that look at the previous portion of the
that look at the previous portion of the same
same words my little children these things
words my little children these things are right to you that you may not
are right to you that you may not sin because God keeps on forgiving us
sin because God keeps on forgiving us that does not fill us with arrogance and
that does not fill us with arrogance and that should not fill us with
that should not fill us with hard-heartedness
in fact you know because God has got so much of forgiveness our fear for him
much of forgiveness our fear for him should
should grow turn with us to Psalm
grow turn with us to Psalm 130 fourth
130 fourth verse there is forgiveness with you so
verse there is forgiveness with you so that you may be
feared in other words because God so lovingly forgives us we should so much
lovingly forgives us we should so much and so reverentially fear
and so reverentially fear Him and at times we also begin to think
Him and at times we also begin to think I am special to God and I'm
indispensable but beloved we want to tell you God can bypass
tell you God can bypass us just like he bypassed Israel and went
us just like he bypassed Israel and went to the
to the Gentiles belward there is a truth that
Gentiles belward there is a truth that comes again and again in the pages of
comes again and again in the pages of the New Testament
the New Testament now turn with us to book of Hebrews we
now turn with us to book of Hebrews we want you to look at that words in your
want you to look at that words in your Bibles book of Hebrews 3rd

chapter look at the nth verse who can say I have made my heart
verse who can say I have made my heart clean and I am pure from
clean and I am pure from [Music]
[Music] sin that's EX exactly what Apostle John
sin that's EX exactly what Apostle John is reciprocating in his first
is reciprocating in his first epistle we all know that words by
epistle we all know that words by heart first John 1 Chapter 8th
heart first John 1 Chapter 8th verse if we say that we have no
verse if we say that we have no sin he's not referring to other people
sin he's not referring to other people The Outsiders in the of the church but
The Outsiders in the of the church but he talks about we that means he includes
he talks about we that means he includes himself and the other
himself and the other Saints if we we say that we have no
Saints if we we say that we have no sin we deceive
sin we deceive ourselves that truth is not in
ourselves that truth is not in us when Apostle John wrote this
us when Apostle John wrote this important
important statement it was 90 plus towards the end
statement it was 90 plus towards the end of his life he wrote this
of his life he wrote this episod in other words in his life he
episod in other words in his life he never stopped
repentance now we read in the story of Job when it comes to an end job had a
Job when it comes to an end job had a similar
similar confession Book of Job 42nd
confession Book of Job 42nd chapter we'll read verses 5 and
chapter we'll read verses 5 and six I have heard of you by the hearing
six I have heard of you by the hearing of the
of the ear but now my eyes see
ear but now my eyes see you therefore I abor myself and repent
you therefore I abor myself and repent in dust and
Ashes willever repent starts with our rebirth it runs through all our
rebirth it runs through all our Christian
Christian Life and it comes to an end only when
Life and it comes to an end only when our life comes to an
our life comes to an end that is why the apostles even when
end that is why the apostles even when they were writing to Saints they were
they were writing to Saints they were speaking about the sins that they should
speaking about the sins that they should repent
repent all take for example 2 Corinthians first
all take for example 2 Corinthians first chapter and if you look at the first
chapter and if you look at the first words
words whom did Apostle Paul write this
whom did Apostle Paul write this epistle to the Church of God at Corinth
epistle to the Church of God at Corinth with all the
with all the saints so to the Saints he wrote this
saints so to the Saints he wrote this EP and what does he write in the seventh
EP and what does he write in the seventh chapter first
chapter first words having these promises beloved that
words having these promises beloved that is the Saints let us cleanse ourselves
is the Saints let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the Flesh and
from all filthiness of the Flesh and spirit perfecting Holiness in the fear
spirit perfecting Holiness in the fear of
of God it was not an isolated
God it was not an isolated writing even when he was writing to the
writing even when he was writing to the Ephesian
Ephesian church first chapter first
church first chapter first words to the Saints who are in Ephesus
words to the Saints who are in Ephesus and faithful in Christ
and faithful in Christ Jesus and what does he write to them in
Jesus and what does he write to them in the fifth
the fifth chapter eth
chapter eth verse you were once dark but now you are
verse you were once dark but now you are light in the
light in the Lord therefore he says in verse
Lord therefore he says in verse 11 have no fellowship with unfruitful
11 have no fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose
works of darkness but rather expose them we remember the incident when the
them we remember the incident when the Lord Jesus Christ washed the feet of his
Lord Jesus Christ washed the feet of his disciples when he came one after the
disciples when he came one after the other and he came to Simon
other and he came to Simon Peter what Simon Peter
Peter what Simon Peter said Lord you should not wash my
said Lord you should not wash my feet you know what Jesus
feet you know what Jesus said if I do not wash your feet you have
said if I do not wash your feet you have no part in
no part in me and immediately Simon Peter said not
me and immediately Simon Peter said not only my feet oh god oh Lord you wash my
only my feet oh god oh Lord you wash my hands and my head
hands and my head also you know what Jesus
also you know what Jesus said that is not necessary
said that is not necessary a man who is bathed he is
a man who is bathed he is clean you are already
clean you are already bed now because of your walk in this
bed now because of your walk in this world your feet have become
world your feet have become dirty I want to wash your
dirty I want to wash your feet already we are cleansed by the
feet already we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus
blood of Jesus Christ bathing is
Christ bathing is over now you know when we walk we don't
over now you know when we walk we don't roll on the dust but even as we walk
roll on the dust but even as we walk this feet get dirty
this feet get dirty and that needs to be cleansed then and
and that needs to be cleansed then and there that is why the Bible when it
there that is why the Bible when it calls the Christian Life as a race it
calls the Christian Life as a race it brings forth the same truth into
focus turn with us the book of Hebrews 12th
12th chapter read the first words to
chapter read the first words to You therefore we also since we are
You therefore we also since we are surrounded by so great clouds of
surrounded by so great clouds of witnesses let us lay aside every way
witnesses let us lay aside every way and the sin which easily ins snares us
and the sin which easily ins snares us and let us run with
patience two things we are called to set aside
aside here one is the
here one is the weight the other is
weight the other is sin what is
sin what is sin what is wrong is
sin what is wrong is sin what is
sin what is weight what is not necessary is
weight what is not necessary is wait in Christian Life we have to set
wait in Christian Life we have to set aside not only what is wrong but also
aside not only what is wrong but also what is not
necessary we should not compare ourselves with
ourselves with anybody this passage we have to look at
Jesus 11 chapter of Hebrews so many Heroes of Faith are presented before us
Heroes of Faith are presented before us we cannot even keep looking at
we cannot even keep looking at them keep only looking at
them keep only looking at Jesus all the heroes of Faith they had
Jesus all the heroes of Faith they had their own
failures beloved if you take your eyes off Jesus and keep it on anyone for that
off Jesus and keep it on anyone for that matter you will also
matter you will also backslide because there are simply too
backslide because there are simply too many backsliders in this
many backsliders in this world if you keep looking at them
world if you keep looking at them then you will be
then you will be disolution and then you will be
disolution and then you will be discouraged finally your entire life
discouraged finally your entire life will be
devastated never ever stop repentance keep looking at Jesus Keep On
repenting you know why we should keep on repenting take the people of Israel who
repenting take the people of Israel who came out of
came out of Egypt they came out of Egypt
Egypt they came out of Egypt Egypt did not come out of
Egypt did not come out of them even after many
them even after many years they started to remember the
years they started to remember the things which they ate freely in
things which they ate freely in Egypt they deeply crave for them and
Egypt they deeply crave for them and they began to murmur against God's
leadership we have already come out of the
the world we have said no to the devil and
world we have said no to the devil and we have said yes to Jesus
we have said yes to Jesus even though we have come out of the sins
even though we have come out of the sins of the
of the world there are still so many things
world there are still so many things that are sticking to us which need to
that are sticking to us which need to still be fleshed
out Bel word repentance is getting deeper and deeper every day because in
deeper and deeper every day because in Christian walk we are going into a
Christian walk we are going into a brighter and brighter
light turn with us to give a very very clear picture of what I'm saying in Book
clear picture of what I'm saying in Book of Proverbs 4th chapter
of Proverbs 4th chapter look at the 18th
look at the 18th words path of the just that is the path
words path of the just that is the path of a righteous man the Walk of a
of a righteous man the Walk of a Christian it is like The Shining Sun
Christian it is like The Shining Sun that shines ever brighter unto the
that shines ever brighter unto the midday or the perfect
midday or the perfect day in the morning the light is not so
day in the morning the light is not so bright but as you go towards the noon
bright but as you go towards the noon day the light becomes brighter and
day the light becomes brighter and brighter when the light becomes brighter
brighter when the light becomes brighter and brighter your dirt becomes clearer
and brighter your dirt becomes clearer and
clearer that's why the Bible says in Psalm
Psalm 119 the 130th
119 the 130th words confession of the psalm is the
words confession of the psalm is the entrance of your word gives me
light if you keep on reading the word and as we keep on eating the word the
and as we keep on eating the word the entrance of God's word into our lives it
entrance of God's word into our lives it shows and it shreds more and more
shows and it shreds more and more light that's why we can never afford to
light that's why we can never afford to stop
repenting Apostles put it in a different way Book of Romans 13th
way Book of Romans 13th chapter we'll read to you verses 11 and
chapter we'll read to you verses 11 and 12 knowing this that this time it is
12 knowing this that this time it is high time to awake out of sleep because
high time to awake out of sleep because our Salvation is now nearer than when we
our Salvation is now nearer than when we first
first believed our Salvation is much nearer to
believed our Salvation is much nearer to us than when it was 20 years ago when we
us than when it was 20 years ago when we got
got saved then the ver 12
saved then the ver 12 says the night is
says the night is for the day is very much at
for the day is very much at hand therefore let us cast out the works
hand therefore let us cast out the works of darkness let us put on the armor of
of darkness let us put on the armor of light that was what Paul wrote exactly
light that was what Paul wrote exactly to the Philippian Believers
to the Philippian Believers also book of Philippians 2
also book of Philippians 2 chapter 12th
chapter 12th verse therefore my beloved as you have
verse therefore my beloved as you have always obeyed not in my presence only
always obeyed not in my presence only but now much more in my absence work out
but now much more in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and
trembling God has already blessed us and gifted us with
gifted us with salvation now we have have the man's
salvation now we have have the man's responsibility we cannot be casual about
responsibility we cannot be casual about it cautiously with fear and trembling we
it cautiously with fear and trembling we have to work it out that means we need
have to work it out that means we need to keep on repenting and bring our
to keep on repenting and bring our Salvation to
perfection in other words there should be a constant and continuous Brokenness
be a constant and continuous Brokenness in our hearts which will invariably lead
in our hearts which will invariably lead us to nonstop repentance
you know as we keep on repenting beloved what will be the end result there will
what will be the end result there will be festival and there will be joyous
occasions we know that this was exactly the experience of David when he wrote
the experience of David when he wrote Psalm
Psalm 51 this was a confession of his
51 this was a confession of his repentance and how did it
repentance and how did it climax look at the 18th
climax look at the 18th words do good oh God in your good
words do good oh God in your good pleasure to
pleasure to Z and build the walls of
Z and build the walls of Jerusalem time of joy and
Jerusalem time of joy and jubilance then he says in the 19th
jubilance then he says in the 19th words they shall offer Bulls on your
words they shall offer Bulls on your altar the more repent greater will be
altar the more repent greater will be your
your joy the more repent greater will be your
joy the more repent greater will be your Holiness the more repent greater will be
Holiness the more repent greater will be your
your peace the more you repent greater will
peace the more you repent greater will be the understanding of God's
be the understanding of God's word the more you repent greater
word the more you repent greater Effectiveness will be there in your
Effectiveness will be there in your ministry the more you repent greater
ministry the more you repent greater will be the fruitfulness of whatever
will be the fruitfulness of whatever your hand finds to do in the work of
your hand finds to do in the work of God we want to close with reading
God we want to close with reading testimony of Apostle Paul
testimony of Apostle Paul turn with us the book of

do forgetting those things which are behind reaching forward to those things
behind reaching forward to those things which are
which are ahead I press toward the goal for the
ahead I press toward the goal for the price of the upward cost of God in
price of the upward cost of God in Christ
Jesus you know this is a picture of continuous nonstop
repentance we repent and we receive the gift of
gift of Salvation we keep on repenting all
Salvation we keep on repenting all through our
through our lives and at the end of that life of
lives and at the end of that life of repentance God blesses us with that
