0:31 weby we read today from Acts chapter
0:36 25 we last left Paul in the hands of
0:41 Felix and now Felix has been replaced by
0:44 fesus and they start the round all over
0:46 again acts chap 25 I'm going to read the
0:49 first 12
0:53 verses now when fesus was come into the
0:56 province after 3 days he ascended from
0:58 cesaria to
1:00 Jerusalem then the high priest and the
1:03 chief of the Jews informed him against
1:06 Paul and besought him and desired a
1:09 favor against him that he would send him to
1:10 to
1:13 Jerusalem laying weight in the way to kill
1:14 kill
1:17 him but fesus answered that Paul should
1:19 be kept at cesaria and that he himself
1:23 would depart shortly for there let them
1:25 therefore said he who among you are able
1:28 go down with me and accuse this man if
1:30 there be any wickedness in
1:33 him and when he had carried among them
1:36 more than 10 days he went down unto
1:39 cesaria and the next day sitting on the
1:42 Judgment seat commanded Paul to be
1:45 brought and when he was come the Jews
1:47 who came down from Jerusalem stood round
1:50 about and laid many Grievous complaints
1:53 against Paul which they could not
1:56 prove while he answered for
1:58 himself neither against the law of the
2:01 Jews neither NE against the temple nor
2:04 against yet against Caesar have I
2:06 offended in anything at
2:10 all but fesus willing to do the Jews a
2:13 favor answered Paul and said wilt thou
2:16 go up to Jerusalem and there be judged
2:20 of these things before me then said Paul
2:23 I stand at Caesar's judgment seat where
2:27 I ought to be judged to the Jews have I
2:30 done no wrong as thou very well
2:33 knowest for if I be an offender or have
2:35 committed anything worthy of death I
2:39 refuse not to die but if there be none
2:41 of these things of which these accuse me
2:46 no man May deliver me unto them I appeal unto
2:48 unto
2:51 Caesar then fesus when he had conferred
2:55 with the counsel answered hast thou
2:56 appealed unto
2:58 Caesar unto
3:02 Caesar shalt thou
3:05 go and God ruled and
3:07 overruled and because of this we are here
3:08 here
3:20 hearts delay is perhaps one of the most
3:26 endure by Nature most of us are
3:30 impetuous and impatient
3:32 and if the fellow in the car in front of
3:34 us doesn't start the minute the light
3:36 turns green we honk our
3:39 horn if the elevator doesn't show up
3:42 immediately we lose our
3:45 Patience by Nature we are impatient and
3:49 impulsive and we are surrounded by a
3:52 society that's always in a
3:54 hurry and I suppose the most difficult
3:57 thing for any of us to do is to
4:02 wait to be still and just
4:05 wait now delay is a part of
4:08 life little children don't realize this
4:09 and they think that things should be
4:11 jumping all the time and some adults
4:14 don't realize this but delay is a part of
4:15 of
4:18 life and I don't I don't mean just
4:20 occasional temporary
4:22 delays some of us had an interesting
4:25 time Wednesday night in the
4:28 snowstorm I'm talking about some of
4:30 those long-term delays there are people
4:32 listening to me right now who say Pastor
4:34 I've been praying about a job for a long
4:36 time and God hasn't
4:39 answered a young person says you know
4:41 I've applied to a school and and nothing has
4:43 has
4:45 come somebody else says I've been to the
4:47 doctor for treatments and we're praying
4:50 but somehow nothing's
4:52 happening and someone else says we have
4:54 a serious problem and we're just waiting
4:56 and we're wondering when is God going to
4:59 do something all of us face this matter of
5:00 of
5:02 delay and the older we get the more
5:05 impatient we become with the delays of
5:08 life in spite of our praying and in
5:09 spite of our planning and in spite of our
5:11 our
5:13 sacrificing we come to those points in
5:16 life such as Paul came to where we are
5:22 delayed for 2 years Paul had to wait in
5:25 cesaria and it was frustrating because
5:28 Paul was an apostle an apostle is one
5:30 who is sent with a commission
5:32 he's not one who's chained to a soldier
5:33 but he was chained to a
5:36 soldier it was frustrating Paul had a
5:38 job to do there were churches to found
5:40 there were churches to strengthen there
5:43 were souls to win he was on his way to
5:46 Rome the great capital city of the
5:49 Empire and from every human point of
5:51 view God had made a tremendous
5:55 Mistake by keeping Paul in prison at
5:58 cesaria for over 2 years after all in
6:01 Acts 12 when Peter was in prison the
6:03 Lord delivered him and when Paul had
6:06 been in prison in Philippi it didn't
6:08 take long for the Lord to get him
6:11 out I think you're learning are you not
6:13 that the experiences of Life aren't
6:14 always the
6:17 same oh you say Pastor I'm going to have
6:19 surgery again but I've had surgery
6:21 before it won't be the
6:23 same well I'm going to do this or that
6:26 it won't be the same time is a river
6:29 that keeps on moving and when you step
6:31 into a river it's never the same as when
6:34 you step out of
6:37 it now Paul was delayed for some 2 years
6:40 and I want to learn from him how to
6:43 handle the delays of
6:45 Life somebody may be saying at this
6:47 point well I've never had that problem
6:48 I've pushed the button the door has
6:51 opened I've done this and it's happened
6:53 I've never faced any delays in life it
7:01 waiting now not having delays in life is
7:04 no evidence of
7:06 maturity it might be just the opposite
7:08 it might be that God is saying you know
7:09 I can't trust you with waiting I've got
7:11 to keep you on the treadmill or you'd
7:13 think you weren't
7:15 spiritual during this 2-year time that
7:18 Paul was delayed in cesaria he learned
7:21 some lessons about waiting and I want to
7:23 share these lessons with
7:26 you lesson number one Paul learned and
7:28 we must learn if we're going to cope
7:32 with delay Paul learned that delays are
7:34 a part of God's
7:37 plan delays are a part of God's
7:40 plan now you and I won't won't usually
7:44 plan delays when we make our plans we
7:45 say now at 1:00 we're going to do this
7:48 at 3:00 we're going to do that I recall
7:52 when my father was uh very very ill at
7:55 the uh recuperating Center down in
7:58 Lancing I'd gone down to see him and I
8:00 had an appointment at the Institute at a
8:03 certain time and I was so happy my
8:05 schedule was falling right in line I
8:08 turned a corner and came on to Dan Ryan and
8:09 and
8:12 sat and almost missed the appointment
8:15 and almost lost my
8:17 sanctification we make our plans and we
8:20 don't plan for delay we
8:22 should we should we should say now
8:24 suppose we have a flat tire Suppose
8:26 there is a traffic jam in Chicago you
8:28 don't usually say Suppose there is a
8:31 traffic jam
8:33 we live in the age of jets and we don't
8:36 plan for delay we live in the age of the
8:38 digest get it quickly get it now we live
8:41 in the age of TV dinners we can have it
8:48 potatoes we don't plan for delay but God
8:51 does delays are a part of God's plan now
8:52 you don't even have to read the Bible to
8:54 find that out just open your eyes and
8:55 look at
8:58 nature when God made this world he built
9:00 in certain certain
9:03 delays you can grow mushrooms overnight
9:06 you can't grow Oaks
9:09 overnight you can paint butterflies but
9:12 you can't manufacture butterflies you'd
9:14 think God would have had more sense when
9:16 he started manufacturing butterflies
9:18 first they have to be a little
9:19 upholstered worm and then it has to
9:23 crawl into a cocoon that's an awfully
9:25 slow way to come out with a butterfly
9:27 but you know it's the best way or let's
9:31 graduate from butterflies to babies nine whole
9:33 whole
9:37 months you see God has built into nature
9:40 certain delays if you and I keep going
9:43 at the same frantic Pace we're going to fall
9:44 fall
9:47 apart but when I read my Old Testament I
9:50 discover that God plans for delays Moses
9:52 was going to deliver Israel from Egypt
9:55 and he had the plan all worked out God
9:57 said Moses you're 40 years too soon
10:00 sorry and he put put them off into the
10:02 desert to take care of the sheep for 40
10:03 years what a
10:07 delay Joseph wanted to become a ruler
10:09 and God wanted him to become a ruler but
10:11 at the age of 17 Joseph wasn't fit to be a
10:12 a
10:15 ruler and so God spent the next 13 years
10:18 equipping him and it took 13 years
10:21 delay for Joseph to become a ruler and
10:23 then a few more years delay to deliver
10:27 his people from
10:30 hunger and I think of David when David
10:33 was just a a young lad perhaps 15 or 16
10:36 taking care of the sheep he was anointed
10:38 to be king he didn't become king
10:41 immediately all the delays that he went
10:44 through hiding in caves taking his
10:47 little armian escaping By Night Living
10:50 by his sword it took several years
10:52 before David got on that Throne of
10:54 Israel and when I move into the New
10:56 Testament I discover that
10:59 Jesus came and was born into this world
11:02 and it took many centuries when the
11:05 fullness of the time was come wouldn't
11:07 you have sent the Savior a long time
11:09 before no God was
11:12 delaying God's people were crying out
11:16 how long oh God how long and he said
11:18 just wait a little
11:20 while I noticed in my Lord's ministry
11:23 here on Earth he planned for
11:26 delay he sent his disciples out across
11:28 the lake in that ship and he knew the
11:29 storm was coming
11:32 and that storm came sweeping down upon
11:35 them a very unusual thing and these men were
11:36 were
11:40 frightened and Jesus just waited and
11:42 waited he could see it all he was there
11:45 on the mountain praying and he could see
11:47 it but he waited until it was The
11:51 Darkest Hour of the night and all of
11:53 their strength was gone then he came
11:55 walking on the water and he rescued them
11:57 and I imagine the first thing they said
12:03 one day a telegram arrived from Mary and
12:07 Martha behold he whom thou lovest is
12:10 sick Lazarus was sick and the Bible says
12:13 and Jesus waited he just carried until
12:16 finally Lazarus died and when Jesus
12:18 finally showed up at Bethany Martha said
12:20 to him and so did
12:23 Mary oh if only you'd been here our
12:25 brother wouldn't have died the delays of
12:27 our Lord
12:30 Jesus gyus came to Jesus and said my
12:32 daughter's about to die won't you come
12:34 down and heal her he said I'll come and
12:36 while he's walking along he feels
12:38 someone touch him power goes out he
12:41 stops and says who touched me and gyrus
12:43 his blood turned cold and his heart
12:46 stopped beating he said Lord don't stop
12:47 then they came and said don't trouble
12:51 the master your daughter's dead oh he
12:54 delayed Jesus said now don't be afraid
12:55 and he went down and raised the girl
13:01 from the dead you see God PL for
13:06 delays and God's delays are appointments not
13:11 accidents you say well here I am I
13:14 planed to do this and now I have to wait
13:16 I'd made these decisions and now I have
13:20 to wait some accident no an appointment
13:24 God's delays are not interruptions they are
13:25 are
13:28 intermissions would you remember that
13:31 you go to a concert and at a certain
13:32 point it says
13:35 intermission they planned on that
13:37 because you've got to tune the
13:39 instruments and you've got to get some
13:41 water and you've got to give people a
13:43 chance to relax a little bit the
13:46 intermission is not an
13:49 interruption and God's delays are not
13:51 interruptions they are intermissions
13:53 he's saying let's stop now there are
13:55 some things I want to
13:59 do lesson number one delay are a part of
14:04 God's plan lesson number two delays
14:06 fulfill God's
14:09 purpose just as the orchestra has an
14:10 intermission at the concert and they
14:12 tune up their instruments and they and
14:14 the conductor is able to go change
14:16 shirts and and wash up a little bit
14:19 because he's been working hard up there
14:21 holding that heavy baton and and leading that
14:22 that
14:26 Orchestra so the Lord knows when you and
14:32 I need to have an inspired
14:34 intermission oh don't you just love to
14:37 keep on going ah but you can't do
14:42 it if the violinist keeps those violin
14:45 strings constantly
14:47 taught uh it won't work out so well they
14:49 have to loosen them up a little bit if
14:52 the Archer keeps the bow the string of
14:56 the bow constantly tight he loses
14:58 something when he's through using it he
15:01 takes that cord off and he lets it rest
15:05 and so with God delays fulfill God's
15:08 purposes now God had a purpose for Paul
15:10 we hear this statement so often it
15:13 becomes a cliche God has a plan for your
15:15 life you ever heard that we say oh I
15:17 believe that sure but it's true it's
15:19 just so wonderfully true God has a plan
15:21 for our life and God had a plan for Paul
15:24 God's plan for Paul was to go to
15:27 Rome now I I as I read between the lines
15:30 here and I pray I meditate I've come to
15:32 the conclusion as you know that God did
15:35 not intend for Paul to go to Jerusalem
15:37 Paul wanted to go to Jerusalem he said
15:39 I'm burdened to go to Jerusalem and then
15:41 to Rome and when he gave his speech to
15:44 the Ephesian church leaders he said all
15:45 I know is that the god the holy spirit
15:48 is telling me that in every city bonds
15:51 and afflictions await me Paul got to
15:53 cesaria that's where Philip the
15:55 Evangelist lived that's wonderful to
15:58 have Christian friends all over Jesus
15:59 said if you give up your father and
16:01 mother and brothers and sisters I'll
16:02 give you fathers and mothers and
16:03 brothers and sisters you can't count
16:06 them this is true and Paul got to
16:08 cesaria and Philip opened the door and
16:10 Paul moved in and and I think God wanted
16:13 Paul to stay in cesaria he did not want
16:14 Paul to go down to Jerusalem but
16:18 remember Paul went and Paul was arrested
16:20 and you know what happened after he was
16:23 arrested they took him back to cesaria
16:24 that's where he should have stayed to
16:27 begin with but now he was there not as a
16:30 free man but as a prisoner prisoner and
16:33 God was going to rule and overrule and
16:35 God came to Paul in the dark of the
16:38 night Jesus appeared and said don't be afraid
16:39 afraid
16:41 Paul you've witnessed for me at
16:44 Jerusalem you're going to witness for me
16:46 at Rome that's all Paul needed Paul knew
16:48 they'd never kill him Paul knew they
16:50 couldn't do any harm to him Jesus said
16:52 Paul you're going to go to Rome that was
16:56 God's plan for Paul's life I want to add
16:58 this I have said this three or four
17:00 times recently I'm going to say it again
17:02 please do not believe that the will of
17:04 God is a
17:07 machine and that if one or two parts of
17:09 the machine cease to work the whole
17:11 thing falls apart many people have this
17:13 idea I have students coming to me and
17:15 they say oh Pastor I'm through I have to
17:18 drop out of school well how come oh I
17:20 did this and I disobeyed the Lord and
17:23 this is what happened the will of God is
17:26 not a dead machine where Parts have to
17:28 work together the will of God is a
17:31 living body body and in your body when
17:33 one part isn't functioning properly the
17:36 other parts compensate for it you knew
17:38 that and the will of God is this way and
17:40 God said Paul you should never have gone
17:42 to to Jerusalem but I'm going to
17:45 overrule what you've done when God
17:48 cannot rule he overrules and I'm going
17:51 to see to it that you get to Rome but
17:54 meanwhile for 2 years I want you to wait
17:57 here in cesaria why what were God's
18:00 purposes may I suggest some purposes for
18:06 delay number one Paul needed to
18:09 rest Paul had been through beatings
18:13 traveling perils in the city perils in
18:17 the sea he had faced enemies Believers
18:19 and unbelievers he had been out starting
18:22 churches Paul wasn't a strong
18:25 man Paul was really able to sympathize
18:28 with the psalmist who said he knows our
18:31 frame he remembers that we're dust
18:34 that's all we are dust some of us live
18:37 like we're steel just keep on going
18:40 going going God says now Paul if you
18:42 keep those strings too tight it'll kill
18:46 you I want you to rest a little bit you
18:49 see the delays of God are not delays of
18:52 inactivity they are delays of
18:55 preparation the life of Hudson Taylor
18:57 has always been a challenge to me I've
18:59 recommended that you read it I hope you
19:02 followed my recommendation God's man in
19:04 China is the book you want to get
19:07 written by Dr and Mrs Howard Taylor
19:09 several times in Hudson Taylor's life
19:12 God just took him and it seemed put him
19:13 on a
19:16 shelf he was in London so burdened to
19:19 get back to China and God wouldn't let
19:23 him go he got sick and yet during those
19:27 months in London God prepared him for
19:30 the greatest years of of his ministry
19:31 and I find this has happened to many of
19:35 God's servants many of God's people Paul
19:37 just needed to
19:40 rest somebody says well the devil
19:42 doesn't take a
19:45 vacation there are two answers to that stupid
19:50 statement one of them is the devil is
19:52 not my
19:56 example Jesus said Come Ye apart and
20:01 and the second answer is the devil
20:03 doesn't have a
20:07 body he doesn't know what it is to have
20:10 tired bones and tired muscles and
20:12 headaches and God just looked down at
20:14 the Apostle Paul and said you know
20:16 you've been working so hard I want to
20:19 give you two years in cesaria I'll protect
20:20 protect
20:23 you I'm going to keep you in the cesaria [Music]
20:26 [Music]
20:28 Hilton and you know what you won't even
20:29 have have to pay the
20:33 bill Rome is going to pay for it you
20:36 can't beat that he just gave him a
20:39 delay for physical rest I wonder if some
20:42 people don't need
20:45 that sometimes the scripture says he
20:48 maketh me to lie
20:51 down and I hope if the Lord has to make
20:54 you lie down it's not in a
20:56 hospital there's a second reason why our
20:59 lord gave him this uh delay
21:02 it was for his own spiritual
21:04 refreshment now for 4 years I was in an
21:07 itinerant Ministry I don't envy those
21:09 who are in an itinerate Ministry a
21:11 different bed every night or every week
21:13 some of you missionaries know what I'm
21:15 talking about and uh preaching in
21:17 different places you just get acquainted
21:19 with somebody and you have to leave this
21:20 was this was Paul's life the longest he
21:23 stayed any place was Ephesus and that
21:25 ended in a riot he was there for 3 years
21:27 then there was a riot he stayed for 18
21:28 months in Corinth but usually it was two
21:31 weeks here 3 months there and you just
21:33 get your just get your heart wrapped up
21:39 leave God said Paul I want you to stay
21:42 here in cesaria it's Gentile territory
21:44 this is where Cornelius was saved you
21:46 know and this is where philli lived and
21:48 I just want you to get better acquainted
21:50 with some of the Saints here in cesaria
21:53 I read that the Apostle Paul in chapter
21:57 24 and verse 23 was able to receive his
21:58 acquaintances and they could come and
22:01 minister to him this word minister in
22:04 Acts 24:23 is one of the beautiful
22:07 little words that that Luke uses it's
22:09 not the usual word for Minister it's not
22:12 the usual word for Servant it's the word
22:14 for the fella on the boat who was on the
22:16 lowest level and pulled the ores that's
22:19 the word there the under
22:21 rower here was the Apostle Paul being
22:25 ministered to by these Saints in cesaria
22:27 and they were the under rowers you'd
22:28 think Paul wasn't getting any place
22:30 place they were going someplace they
22:33 were rowing away plowing away God was
22:35 accomplishing his purposes you know
22:37 sometimes God has to bring a parenthesis
22:41 into our lives just for Spiritual
22:43 refreshment Paul had been giving giving
22:45 giving giving now he's going to do some
22:48 getting nothing wrong with that Jesus
22:50 said give and it shall be given unto
22:54 you physical rest spiritual
22:56 refreshment I'll make another suggestion
23:00 To You Paul gave God gave to Paul this
23:03 um time of delay to give him a chance to
23:05 practice what he preached that's an
23:08 awful thing for a preacher something
23:09 comes to our lives we've been preaching
23:11 to other people and then we got to
23:13 practice it ourselves Paul had written
23:16 to the Romans in anticipation of his
23:19 arrival and in the Book of Romans he
23:23 says so much about one subject
23:26 patience patience tribulation worketh
23:29 patience and patience experence
23:32 and over and over again in the go in in
23:34 the Book of Romans the letter to the
23:36 Romans he talks about being patient in
23:39 trial and now he's having to practice it
23:41 you know sometimes the Lord puts us
23:45 aside and gives us a period of delay
23:47 just to give us a chance to practice the
23:48 word of
23:51 God something else was
23:53 true during this period of delay the
23:55 Apostle Paul was fulfilling one of the
23:58 purposes for his ministry you know when
24:01 God called Paul and saved him he said
24:03 this man is going to witness to rulers and
24:04 and
24:08 Kings when God spoke to ananas and said
24:12 go and uh meet Saul of Tarsus and open
24:14 his eyes and get him baptized and ananas
24:17 said oh I know him he's a persecutor God
24:19 says you do what I tell you because he's
24:21 My Chosen vessel and he's going to
24:23 witness before Kings and rulers and
24:25 that's what he did for two
24:29 years I have never witnessed to a King
24:31 I've had occasion to say a word about
24:33 the Lord to some people in high places
24:36 but not very high the Lord's never given
24:38 me a Ministry on stilts I've always had
24:40 the privilege of feeding the Sheep not the
24:45 giraffes but I thank God for people who
24:48 can get to high places you know Mayors
24:51 and governors and kings and presidents
24:54 and Senators need the gospel just like
24:56 everybody else maybe
24:59 more and here was Paul for 2 years
25:02 chained to a Roman soldier what if you
25:05 were that Soldier imagine being chained
25:07 to a fellow who wrote one day pray without
25:12 ceasing and one by one Paul was winning
25:15 these soldiers to the Lord they' go back
25:17 to this happened in this happened in
25:19 Rome when Paul got to Rome he was
25:21 chained to a Roman soldier and he writes
25:24 to the Philippians all the saints salute
25:26 you especially those in Caesar's
25:28 household how do you ever get Saints in
25:29 Caesar 's household you get chained as
25:31 some soldiers and you win them to the
25:34 Lord and they go back and they
25:37 witness you've heard of chain smokers
25:44 preacher and he was winning people to
25:46 Christ oh you say Pastor I've got to go
25:47 into the hospital it's going to take
25:49 three weeks or you know I don't have
25:51 work and and wait a minute did you ever
25:53 stop to think that during this period of
25:55 delay you might reach some people for
26:04 delays are part of God's plan and delays
26:06 fulfill God's
26:10 purposes as a third
26:13 lesson delays
26:17 demand that we trust God's
26:19 promises I've noticed that whenever Paul
26:21 got into a tight spot the lord gave him
26:24 a promise does he do this for you I hope
26:27 he does I hope when you get into a tight
26:28 spot you don't give up you go open your
26:30 Bible and let God give you a promise
26:33 when things were rough in Corinth oh
26:35 they were so hard Paul was ready to
26:37 leave Corinth and Jesus came and said
26:40 now you stay here I'm with you don't be
26:42 afraid they aren't going to hurt you and
26:43 I have many people in this city and he
26:47 stayed for 18 months and build a
26:50 church when um he was
26:52 arrested and they dragged him before the
26:55 Sanhedrin and a riot broke loose they
26:58 took him back to his confinement and the
27:01 next night Jesus showed up and said Paul
27:03 Don't Be Afraid you've witnessed for me
27:05 in Jerusalem you're going to witness for
27:08 me at Rome and when Jesus says something it
27:08 it [Music]
27:10 [Music]
27:12 happens and so all during these two
27:14 years Paul wasn't frustrated Paul didn't
27:16 bite his fingernails off he didn't Pace the
27:17 the
27:19 floor he didn't complain you don't find
27:22 him we have no record of any letter that
27:24 Paul wrote where he said oh I'm here and
27:26 I wish I weren't here he just simply
27:29 said I'm waiting for God's time to
27:32 fulfill his promise you the trouble with
27:36 us when delays come is We
27:38 complain Paul wrote to the Philippians I
27:41 have learned in whatsoever State I am
27:43 therewith to be
27:46 content now that word content does not
27:49 mean uh
27:51 complacent that word content means
27:53 contained I have learned in whatsoever
27:55 State I am therewith to be contained to
27:57 be self-contained I have within me all I
28:00 need for contentment what is it oh I can
28:01 do all things through Christ who strengthens
28:03 strengthens
28:05 me now somebody listening to me right
28:08 now has had to wait wait on a job or
28:11 wait on school or some physical
28:14 Affliction or some emotional problem and
28:16 you've been waiting and you've been
28:19 praying have you laid hold of God's
28:21 promises the thing that kept Paul going
28:24 during two years of so-called
28:26 parenthesis in his ministry was the fact
28:29 that Jesus said to him I'll see you in
28:31 Rome meanwhile I'm staying right with
28:33 you here I'm going to get you to Rome it
28:35 won't cost the church a
28:39 scent Caesar is going to take care of
28:41 it I was just thinking the other day I
28:44 wonder what scriptures Paul meditated on
28:47 when when he was waiting there the devil
28:49 would come and say oh you're the great
28:52 Apostle Paul why aren't you out
28:54 aposl ah if you if you had been obedient
29:01 then the word gets to the Apostle Paul
29:03 that the Jewish leaders are plotting
29:05 against him they want to kill him can
29:07 you imagine that his own countrymen want
29:10 to kill him I wonder if Paul didn't
29:13 sometimes turn to Psalm 37 fret not
29:14 thyself because of
29:17 evildoers neither be thou envious of the
29:20 workers of iniquity commit thy way unto
29:23 the Lord trust also in him he shall
29:25 bring it to pass trust in the Lord and
29:28 do good Delight thyself on also in the
29:30 Lord he shall give Thee the desires of
29:33 thy heart I'm sure the Apostle Paul many
29:37 many times meditated on Psalm 37 and God
29:40 just quieted his heart oh I've had times
29:43 in my life when I have taken my little
29:45 prayer list and I've said Lord I've been
29:46 praying about
29:50 this there it is all these years when
29:52 are you going to do
29:55 something and I can just hear the Lord
29:56 say to
29:59 me just commit it to me roll your burden
30:03 on the Lord don't fret don't worry don't
30:05 get impetuous don't get impatient don't get
30:07 get
30:10 overheated I'm taking care of it you see
30:12 Paul couldn't complain about being there
30:15 because he had written Romans
30:18 828 and we know that all things are
30:21 working together for good to them that
30:23 love God to them who are the called
30:24 according to his purpose what is his
30:27 purpose that we might be conformed to
30:36 son delay's demand that we trust God's
30:39 promises now says somebody if Paul
30:40 really trusted God's promises would he
30:43 have appealed to Caesar why of course
30:46 that's why he did it you see every Roman
30:49 citizen who had not been tried in a
30:51 lower court had the privilege of
30:52 appealing to Caesar now if you'd been
30:54 tried in a lower court that was you
30:56 couldn't do it but any every Roman
30:59 citizen could appeal to see Caesar now
31:01 Jesus Christ had said to Paul I'll see
31:04 you in Rome that's where Caesar is by
31:06 the way and so when they took Paul
31:10 before this Council and Paul knew that
31:12 they were plotting to kill him he simply
31:15 stood up and said I will stand before
31:18 Caesar's judgment seat I appeal to
31:21 Caesar and any Roman citizen who said
31:24 those words I appeal to Caesar that
31:26 automatically took everything out of the
31:29 governor's hand
31:35 Caesar you say what was very simple for
31:37 Paul to do that was
31:42 it suppose Caesar didn't pass his case
31:44 suppose Caesar found him guilty Paul
31:47 could be killed when Paul stood up and
31:49 said I appeal to Caesar he was laying
31:52 his life on the Altar for you and me you
31:55 know why God wanted Paul in Rome because
31:56 in Rome there were Christians who needed
31:58 his ministry
32:01 and in Rome he was going to
32:04 write Ephesians for by grace are you
32:08 saved through faith Philippians for it
32:10 is God that worketh in you both to Will
32:13 and to do of his good pleasure
32:18 Colossians and ye are complete in
32:21 him second Timothy was going to come out
32:25 of Rome and philimon was going to come
32:26 out of
32:29 Rome and we're here today because Paul
32:32 went to Rome and then the gospel moved across
32:33 across
32:36 Europe and we're Christians today
32:38 because of this oh it wasn't easy for a
32:40 man to stand up and say I appeal to
32:42 Caesar he was saying I Lay My Life on the
32:43 the
32:47 altar he's so much like the Lord Jesus
32:49 you see Luke wrote two books The Gospel
32:51 of Luke and the book of Acts in the
32:55 Gospel of Luke it's Jesus going up to
32:57 Jerusalem to die in the book of Acts
33:06 die delays demand that we trust God's
33:09 promises if you're waiting and you're
33:12 getting nervous get a hold of the
33:15 promises of God he that has begun the
33:17 good work is going to complete it he is
33:19 the Alpha and the Omega he's the
33:21 beginning and the end there is no
33:30 you're going through an intermission one
33:32 of these days the conductor will step on
33:35 the podium and he'll start the harmony
33:38 once again and the Symphony of life will
33:41 begin and you'll be better for
33:44 it you're going through a parenthesis
33:45 perfectly all right one of these days
33:47 the one who's writing Our Lives will
33:49 pick up his pen and continue the next
33:51 sentence and it'll be just right and
33:58 it delays
34:01 are a part of God's plan accept them
34:03 don't fight
34:07 them delays fulfill God's purposes just
34:12 trust him delays demand that we trust
34:15 God's promises get a hold of
34:17 them and this my friend includes the
34:19 greatest delay of
34:22 all you say what's the greatest delay of
34:25 all the greatest delay of all is the one
34:28 that Peter wrote about when he said uh
34:30 where is the promise of his
34:34 coming why hasn't the Lord come back Lo
34:36 all these many years he's coming he's
34:38 coming but he's not here that's the
34:41 greatest delay of all you know why Jesus
34:44 Christ is delaying his coming this delay
34:46 is a part of his
34:49 plan he knows when he's coming back this
34:52 delay is fulfilling his
34:54 purposes this delay demands that we lay
34:56 hold of his promise he's going to come
34:58 back you know why the Lord is delaying
34:59 his coming Peter tells us why he's
35:02 delaying his coming you know
35:05 why the Lord is
35:08 longsuffering to us word not willing
35:11 that any should perish you know why
35:13 Jesus didn't come back yesterday because
35:15 you weren't
35:17 ready that's
35:20 why and for those of you here today who
35:22 don't know Christ as your
35:25 savior you had better get
35:29 ready we Christians don't worry about
35:31 delays whether the Lord delays his
35:34 coming for another 40 years I don't know
35:36 I'm not worried about it I'm believing
35:38 his promise I'm trying to fulfill his
35:39 purpose and so are
35:42 you ah but those of you who don't know
35:45 the Savior what about it the Lord has
35:48 delayed his coming that he might save
35:52 you for if he had come yesterday you
35:54 weren't ready now if you hear my voice
35:56 right now and you've never trusted the
35:59 Lord Jesus Christ you'd better trust him
36:01 because one of these days the greatest
36:04 delay of all the most patient delay of
36:08 all will end oh think of how much the
36:12 Lord has had to endure waiting to come
36:17 back Hebrew says he is up in heaven
36:19 expecting waiting until his enemies be
36:21 made the foot stol of his feet and my
36:24 Lord has died to purchase his bride ah
36:31 yes it's costing him something to wait
36:33 it's costing you
36:36 something your heart gets harder your
36:39 eyes get Blinder your will becomes more
36:42 paralyzed I plead with you today give
36:45 your heart to Jesus Christ and let him save
36:46 save
36:48 you gracious
36:51 father help us to learn from the delays
36:53 of Life forgive us for our impatience
36:56 forgive me for my
36:58 impatience Lord we don't want to be
37:00 complacent and do nothing we want our
37:03 delays to be filled with
37:05 blessing and we have learned that your
37:12 denials that your postponements are not
37:15 denials we pray father help your dear
37:19 people who are tempted to be
37:23 impatient to lay hold of your word and
37:25 to accept the delays of life for the
37:28 purposes you have in mind
37:30 and father we pray for those here who
37:32 don't know the Savior for those who hear
37:35 my voice now who ought to hear your
37:39 voice oh I pray may they trust Christ
37:42 and come and be saved for it's in the
37:44 savior's name that we pray
37:47 pray
