American ladder every week. Hello
everybody. Welcome to the show. It's a
joy to have you with us. Here's the
baran. How good. And you join us on one
of our favorite nights of the year. The
second week of S Doug Nichols round
tonight. We celebrate so much of the
great indigenous community's
contribution to this super game. It's a
joy to be here with you two. But what
about the roll call of people joining us
on the show tonight? The present and the
past. Cosie Picket, Bobby Hill, Winston
Abraham, Steven Michael, and Michael
Long are all joining us in the show
tonight.
Unbelievable. It's going to be amazing.
It's all about It's all about
celebrating uh the the great National
Indigenous Game and the contribution of
our First Nations people. And it's going
to be fun. We got a lot to look forward
to. It's going to be a terrific night.
Uh there's been a lot going on this
week. Obviously, before we bring the
guests out, we'll whip our way through a
bit of the news of the week. And of
course, Andrew Dylan, the AFL CEO,
caught up with a couple of the four of
the coaches for these impromptu sort of
uh state of the union dinners. They have
the Scott brothers, Simon Goodwin, and
Alistister Clarkson. Met with the AFL
CEO on Monday night just to to thrash
out bits and pieces. There Andrew Dylan
and the Scott brothers. Just three guys
walking into a pub and talking footy.
That's this show.
It actually is more serious. Apparently,
they could only order one entree in a
man under the soft cap and and and Chris
Scott has been given a please explain
for ordering the steak tarter.
Um but look, it's the biggest story in
football this week. Obviously, the state
of affairs at the top end. And if you
want to get the truth, you have to go to
our man on the spot, uh the front bar
Juno, who's down there out the front of
the hotel right now. the builders. Uh,
what do you got for us, Front Bar Jouro?
Thanks, guys. I'm here at the uh, hotel
at the pub where Andrew Dylan had dinner
with the coaches on Monday night. I've
got a massive scoop for the front bar.
This is huge news. This is a big
exclusive. I can confirm that Clark did
order the uh, chicken nuggets and chips
from the kids menu.
Wow, that's big. From the children's
bear and that to get him into the
booster chair as well.
But that's a bombshell. That is a
bombshell. It's a very very big story.
We are breaking the big story. We go
back to him. Can we make sure there's
some lighting there for the
pure never looks that well? No. No, he
does not. No. No. But he's doing his own
abituary later on. Is he Is he okay?
He's living rough.
Having a hard time tracking him down for
these crosses. It was a big weekend for
West Australian football. Of course,
Freeman will go over to NG Stadium. The
West Coast do they're working as hard as
every other team in the competition.
Great for Andrew McQuer to get his first
win of the year and fantastic for them
to get on the board. The Dockers got a
very, very big win against the Greater
Western Sydney Giants. So, it's rare
air. We don't get to say the two WA
teams win on the same weekend. Well,
very often. Rio now are five and five
and looking threatening. And boy, do
their fans know how to celebrate after a
big win.
Have a look.
That's inside a pub. He's on a
motorbike. Uh, give it a bit. Let's
tickle the engine. And off we
go. There it
is. I'm pretty sure that's how Andrew
Dylan left the
coaches the other night. But Freo are
renowned party for losing losing their
minds after after a big win. Have a
listen. This was something they got up
to recently.
Wow.
Yes. Calm down, everyone. You sure
that's not footage from this year's
Coachella, Mickey?
That's a That's a big xylophone. I've
It's not a xylophone. It's a glock and
spit. It's a xylophone. That's a very
very Excuse me. It's a glocken. It's an
oversized xylophone. It's a very big
neither. It's a mima.
A what?
What is a mima? What's a mima? that.
What do you It's neither. Just trust me.
It's a mim. Well, I'll tell you what, if
they win the flag, I have good authority
they're going to bust out the pan pipes.
So, hang around. Um, could be good. The
Dockers are on a roll. And they Well,
they're going okay. Yeah, they're not on
a roll, are they? They've won one in a
row.
And it was a good win. It was a hell of
a win. It was a great win. Hell of a
win. The clock spill out. Everything was
great. It's a Mirinda. It's a Mima. No
one more excited, by the way, than uh
Fox footies Kelly Underwood here.
Talking here about Patrick Boss,
although she may have gone a bit early.
Trying to get on his bike is boss. He
breaks the tackle. They overlooked him
in the draft and Patrick Boss says,
"Take that."
He's missed.
I think that's why they overlooked him
in the draft. Very that very miss. It
was a good buildup by Kell. Very good
call by it wasn't let her down. It was
Patrick Voss's fault. There's no doubt
about that. Uh despite the fact they had
a good win and they played themselves
back on a roll. They are the Luke
Jackson story won't go away of course.
Uh this is huge. He got some issues at
home at Pel on the home front apparently
over there in WA. He wants to get back
to Melbourne. He's where he wants to
come and play foot according to the
reports. The talk of the town out of WA
of course they are. So, uh, you know,
these trade rumors just will not go away
about Luke Jackson coming back to
Melbourne. Well, he was interviewed
during the week by Channel 9. They got
the scoop. And, um, look, as you listen
to him talking and answering these
questions, I don't think he could have
been any more categoric that he's not
going anywhere, right? Fully committed
to the Dockers. Yeah, of course. And um,
there's no, just to be crystal clear,
you haven't given any instruction or
indication that you want to be traded to
the Demons. No. No. Not at all. Awesome.
Happy in Perth, happy at Freo. Yeah,
love it. Absolutely. Emphatic, genuine,
sincere.
That's all I took from that, Mickey. I
don't know about you, but uh I would
like to point out what one thing I don't
know what else he was going to say
considering if you look at the person
sits walking next to him. That's his
coach, Justin Lund.
What else was he going to say, Mario?
It's a very good point in your eyes.
It's a sharp. That's like when you're
out to dinner with your in-laws in front
of your wife and they say, "How things
are going?" You know,
I think you're oversharing now, Sam. I'm
just You said that out loud. You said
that out loud.
Oh, hey. Um, I can see I'll be giving
you a spare key sometime. So, it's going
to be what's happening. Hey, a lot of
people have had heavy hearts in footy
this week, of course. A great friend of
the program, a great friend of everybody
here at Channel 7, of course, and the
front bar, Robert Walls. one of the
great players, one of the great coaches,
one of the great contributions to put he
passed away last Thursday. He was a
remarkable man, a great fellow, a great
friend, a great teacher, uh great man to
learn from and he had a wonderful
career. He passed away last Thursday
obviously and times like this. It's
worth remembering the deeds of great men
like Wals. He started as a 16-year-old
in a back pocket in a league where they
made you earn it back in those days. He
started in a back pocket. Yeah, he did
as a 16-year-old. skinny. He came became
one of the great half forwards. Had a
hard time to play football. No doubt
about that. He was shy away from the
tough jobs. He went to Fitroy and
Brisbane and Brisbane. He took them both
on and they were great relationships and
loyal friendships that got him to these
clubs. And in typical Walsie fashion, he
ended up at the Tig for a couple of
years. Threetime Premiership player,
premiership coach, Hall of Fame member.
I mean, it's just incredibly sad that it
ended the way it did for Wy. But in
typical Walsie fashion, he went out on
his own terms. So, we've been carrying
that with us this week. It was an
amazing career and uh it included, by
the way, being on the end of I think we
can all agree the worst umpiring
decision in the history of the game in
the 1972 grand final. Or he gets one
around the neck here.
Not only is there no free kick, the
umpire just says, "Umpire, play on. Play
on."
He It does feel like he's dropped the
knees. Yeah,
just by the way, the AFL has
retrospectively ticked that decision
off. No problems at all. All fine.
Wonderful stuff. He was a wonderful
player, of course. And he had a he had
an interesting relationship. He was
tough. He was tough on his players. He
was tough with the media. Uh you always
knew exactly what he was thinking. Here
he is leaving the tribunal and letting a
photographer know exactly what was on
his mind.
Tell me how many shots you need to take
here.
The film's three, but what about two and
piss off?
That's nothing, man. What about the Can
I tell you, apparently he said the same
thing to his wedding photographer, so he
just didn't care. We're all lucky enough
to have some sort of uh relationship. I
think you had coach Richmond. Did you
work with him? Oh, for 10 years at
Channel 10. Lucky enough to play a lot
of golf with him. He was a generous man
and a great fellow to work. Tough years
for him working with you. Anyway, um I
was you knew him. I was lucky enough to
spend some time with him and in in 2015
as part of a little series I was doing
for the cart website, I was over in
France where he was living for a year. Y
and I popped over there and look, put my
ridiculous outfit uh that I was wearing.
Put that to the side. put that to the
side and just enjoy his heartfelt
thoughts on these two gentlemen to my
right. Good opportunity to say hello to
the boys in the Friday front bar. Of
course, I do this with Andy Mahar and
Mick Mallaloy. Andy Mah, you've done
with him. Oh, I've worked with Andy for
many years. Great fell. Staunch Carlton,
man. I love him. And Mick Mallaloy,
[ __ ]
Oh, I love that clip, by the way. Yeah.
How do you What were you doing in the
What were you doing since dressed as a
French mime? Why did you You didn't feel
the shadow in the background. Gave it
away that you were in France. I didn't I
didn't want to. I just had normal
clothes on and Ballsy said, "I want you
to wear this." And I go, "All right,
mate. Whatever you want." You know what
I mean? So, I was at his home and nice
rosé. And do you do any mine?
Yeah, I do.
And um you'll be seeing it during the
break. It's okay. All right.
to to all of Rob's family and friends.
Uh we're thinking of you on this uh on
this on this week and it's a heavy week
for a lot of people obviously uh Robert
what a contribution he made and with
hearts already heavy with the passing of
Rob. They were positively broken on
Saturday. This is just unthinkable uh
news what happened to Adam Cwood when he
passed away on Saturday afternoon. It's
unthinkable what his family's going
through. Um, and it's just a horrible,
horrible time for that entire family.
We're going to go to a break and as we
do, uh, to the Cellwoods out there,
friends and family, our thoughts are
with you.
Welcome back to the show. Look at the
front bath behind. How good the old
village bell hotel. The village bell.
Yeah, the village belt would be great
for an AFL coaches dinner. No doubt
about that. Don't you think that would
have been fantastic? Cuz as we know it's
a big story and there was one at the
Builders. Let's go back to the front bar
journalist who's out the front of the
builders with all the latest. What's
going on down there? the front baro.
Uh, yes, boys, you wouldn't believe
this. I've managed to secure an
exclusive interview with one of the
bouncers who was working here on Monday
night at the coach's dinner. His name's
Rob. Rob, what were you thinking when
you saw the Scott brothers rock up? I
shot myself.
There you have it. A front bar
exclusive. Back to your doors in the
studio. That's pretty. Unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
Looks like it'll take a fair bit. You
heard it here first. Look, it take a bit
to rattle Rob too, I reckon. Can we Can
we cross back now or you want to do it
again? No.
What do you got? You're crossing back.
No, no, we can't cross. Hey, uh, S Doug
Nichols round rolls on this week, of
course, the second weekend. Uh, we can't
wait. We've got two of the genuine
superstars of the modern game joining
us. We can't wait to see what they've
got to produce this weekend. Please make
them welcome Coy Pigot and Bobby Hill.
Everybody,
thanks for coming on, fellas.
Just magnificent to have you with us.
Special round. Do you feel like you feel
it? You feel the kind of special nature
of what we're celebrating this weekend.
Yeah, 100%. I mean um obviously growing
up watching obviously the dream time at
the G and um you know you always want to
be a part of it and yeah to run out each
week and um yeah especially big
occasions like obviously as sug and um
yeah it's a game I always tick off the
calendar to always yeah can't wait to
play it. What about you cos? Yeah
exciting as um you know we get to I
guess showcase our skills um represent
our family um you know our cultures
that's just what we love to do. Showcase
the skills. Can we can we do a bit of
that right now? Let's go. We'll go with
you first, Paul. It's extraordinary. So,
these are your highlights and and it's
just it's strap yourself in stuff when
we watch you two play your footy. This
is where you started at GWS. One
question as we watch these ridiculous
highlights of yours, Bobby. For those of
us who can only dream of playing footy
like this, how much fun is it to when
you get out on the MCG, these massive
stages to be able to do this stuff? I
know it's serious, but how much fun is
it? Uh, yeah. No, it's really fun
obviously having a big crowd like
playing in front of Collingwood each
week and um yeah, I mean to do do this
and um yeah, I think it's all obviously
instinctive. Look at that. Yeah, I don't
mind watching Cosy's highlights
before gets me up and about. Can you
ever get up that high, Cos? I mean, you
can jump, but can you get up as high as
Bobby Cat? Probably jump over. I reckon
you got me covered. Hey. Um, I don't
mark as much. So, yeah. Now, you do most
of your work on the ground. Yeah, that's
it. Is there anywhere that you don't
reckon you can kick a golf from? As we
have a look at your stuff, CO, it's
extraordinary. Do either of you think
there's anywhere you can't actually get
the ball through the goals from
the other side of the field? Man,
that far all I watch these clips and I
imagine trying to play on these. Imagine
that would be the toughest assignment in
football. I got a I got a question for
both of you. When you have the ball, is
there do you ever think about centering
it?
Look at this. No,
inside 50. No, not inside 50. It's
always going to be a goal. 100%. Well,
try to. There's a there's a screamer.
Bobby, what's it, you know, you've
started at GWS and you moved to
Conniewood. I was going to say what's it
like playing in front of the big crowds,
but what's it like playing in front of a
crowd?
It's um obviously a lot different.
No, obviously. Yeah, obviously grateful
for obviously them drafting me and
making my childhood dream come true. But
um nothing better than playing in front
of them. What about that one? Look at
that. So medaly is that actually is it?
Yeah. Which draw?
Um no. Do you ever get it highlights
like that? Do you ever take them out?
Like do you ever take the medals out and
just have a look at them or do you It's
all about next week in the business? Um
no, just next week in the business. Um
it's frame. So is it? Yeah. What about
you? Mine's in a safe at the moment. Is
it really? I'm a nation.
Hey, I'll let you know after the after
cuz you may have noticed there's one
particular highlight we left out of your
package and it's one that I wanted to
make particular mention too because it
gives me so much joy. It's been one of
the great moments of my football
watching career to see what you did to
Carlton in round 22 of round of 22 uh to
kick the winning goal to put Carlton out
of a final series. Let's take a look.
And this is I'm tearing
up. Look at this. Now, these are great
scenes, but these are even
better. And right here, I'm going to
tell you, that's why I go to the footy.
Look at that. This is the greatest thing
I've ever seen. Check it out. That's
what it's all about. Cozy. Come here.
Come here, mate. Come
here.
Yes.
Yes. Oh, fantastic. Did you know when
you did when you kicked Did you know
what was on the line for Carlton that
night? Um when you kicked that goal, did
you know that for that for the for that
moment they were out of the finals?
Yeah, I did actually. You did? Right.
Yeah. Good on you. Yeah.
Yeah. Nice. Are your mates are your
mates off the field? Um Colton. No, no,
no. You Oh, me and Yeah. Yeah. No,
obviously if I I would never walk past
him. Um he's someone I like to watch and
um I take bit of his game and try to put
it in mine and um No, he's obviously a
freakish talent and um yeah, I was
obviously grateful and very lucky enough
to play on the same team as him,
obviously the Allstars. We'll get to
that. Yeah. No, he's Yeah. Again, he's
same same thing goes. Um and we're both
from the wheat belt of WA. So, Northern
Quing is only what 30 minutes apart. So,
yeah, it's a big thrill for us to have
you on the show and at the bar over
there together because uh I'm glad
you're getting along because um the last
time I saw you two on the field, it it
it didn't it wasn't as friendly,
especially for you, Cozy. This
is Bobby. Now, Bobby, you said make sure
you play this highlight for him.
I want I wanted to bump him, but I've
been suspended too many.
I don't When I stepped, I just obviously
he didn't even move and I was like, "Oh,
no. I'm in trouble." Yeah. Hope for the
best and um yeah, very lucky. That's
pretty impressive though. Like he's he
you've got him for a few things, but
he's probably got you for strength and
power to be able to get him off like
that. That's pretty impressive. probably
old man strength coming in.
You mentioned does that if you go for
his beer by the way.
You mentioned the um indigenous allstar
games from earlier this game. So fun to
watch. Why was it the way every single
member of this team embraced this and
the joy that you seem to have playing
alongside one another. Tell us why it
meant so much to every That's a
beautiful move by you, by the way. But
tell us why it meant so much to
everybody who played in this in this
team. Well, yeah, it was obviously 10
years since the last one and um
obviously me and Cy would have been in
the stands watching um obviously, you
know, want to be a part of it and um
yeah, for our name to be first out and
um you know, in the team and um yeah, to
showcase our skills, especially back in
WA and with all the boys um yeah, it's
something I will cherish for obviously
rest of my my life and um yeah,
hopefully can't wait for the next one.
You cops. Um, I think just like the
whole week it's exciting like just to be
in great company like all the boys just
all week we're just you know in cramps
just laughing at each other like all
week I couldn't, you know, remember the
last time I laugh so much. So I think
the week just set us up pretty good.
That's awesome. Fantastic. Definitely
not watching this show then. Um the
uh boys it does it it sounds like
everyone involved in the indigenous host
had a ball especially you two and um if
you if you have had a look at the you
know from afar everyone did seem to be
having a wonderful time just a big party
although I would point out there was one
kid that wasn't having a great
time. Um
what's going on there Bobby? Who's that?
Yes. So that's Bobby Jr.
He doesn't like to listen as you know. I
tried telling him to come back and the
fireworks went off and then obviously
scared him a bit and um cracked it at me
for no reason. I tried grabbing him and
he wouldn't come to me. So then
obviously Jumpy grabbed him and most of
the boys do. But no, yeah, it's
something I'll be showing off when he's
21st.
Of course you will. Bobby Jr. named
after you of course Bob. Bobby is except
you changed your name to Bobby, didn't
you? What was that? Um, well, my real
name is Ian. I don't like to be called
that cuz I'm only I'm only 25. I like
or something. That's an old man name,
not but yeah, obviously my dad's name is
Ian, so named after him. And um I got
the nickname um Bobby through my
grandfather who obviously passed away
now, but um he used to live with us and
um I was obsessed with Bob the Builder.
So Bob, Bob the Builder. Bobber. Lucky
you weren't obsessed with Peppa Pig.
I look like one in the offseason. So,
fantastic.
Um, Cozy, I've got to ask ask you. You
you you play with so much confidence.
You play with so much flare. Uh, to the
point where you've been known to even
taunt an opposition when you opposition
player when you're so far out in front.
And this is a great look there. There it
is. What are you doing? It's uh, don't
argue while you're running away.
Do you enjoy that? Is that is it is it
part of what drives you to have fun? Um,
yeah. It's all about having fun at the
end of the day. Absolutely it is. And I
think that that day you seen that I had
fun. So I love you having fun and I love
it. I I'd like you to go further. I'd
like you to take a leaf out of Leon
Davis's book. When it comes to taunting
is the absolute master. And hello
and I'll just show you again.
Here's another one. How good is is that
the is that the high water mark for
taunting the opposition? Yeah, that
reminds me of Shay Bolton when he did
that. Sh Bolton as well. Well, goody. So
do you. If you did that, you did that
this weekend. You just get the footy out
and you waggle it around in someone's
face as you're running away from them.
Um if we're
winning it. Yeah. Don't do it when
you're six goals down. You mentioned uh
Leon on this show last year. Leon was on
the show with his dad. They designed the
Collingwood jumper for Doug Nichols
round last year and you've done it this
year at Melbourne with your old man
Kevin, haven't you? You two have
designed the footy jumper
together. How special was it to be able
to do that with your old man? Yeah, it's
pretty crazy um to have him, you know,
um come and I guess, you know, express
my culture and um just be a part of the
footy club really. Um, I look up to him
a lot and I think, yeah, it's just crazy
to that he designed the
Gund for the team that I'm playing for.
Um, it means a lot um to myself, my
family, and yeah, I'll probably cherish
this forever. So, that's great, man.
He's a talented man. He was He's stand
He's a comedian. Yeah, he is. Yeah, I
saw him do 10 minutes today. It was he
was magnificent. And I'm used to working
with you, so I wasn't used to I wasn't
used to I wasn't used to jokes. I just
Apparently he was he was the only
entertainment of that lunch you were
hosting.
He was the only one who got any laughs
on the day. Tell us about the calling
jump. You got the calling jumper there?
Yep. Tell us about it. Yeah. So the
artist is Lisa Thor. She's um born and
bred like around in Collingwood Fitzroy.
Um so yeah this uh obviously the design
and the artwork around it's more like a
uh she says it's a magpie's bird's eye
view of um the Collingwood street. So
it's like the every lane way she's
obviously grew up walked and yep um yeah
obviously it's unbelievable to see this
and on a jersey and especially to
obviously every other jersey as well.
But um yeah, it's something I will
cherish for the rest of our obviously
our careers and um yeah, so yeah, full
credit to you wear them well, lads. It's
a joy to watch you play footie every
week and you two are carrying on the
legacy of so many First Nations players
who have come before you and we love
going to football to watch you and your
mates play footie the way you do. Good
luck on the weekend. Enjoy everything
that Doug Nichols Ram brings and thanks
for coming on the show. his metal.
Bobby Hill and Cozy Pink are joining us
on the show. Don't go anywhere. From a
couple of the current day superstars to
one who lit it up on the other side of
the road, Winston Abraham to join us
next. Welcome back to the show. Joy to
have you with us on a really special
night for all of us here on the front
bar. our next guest. He was feeding one
of the most exhilarating players
unbelievable in the '90s. Few in that
decade could light it up like he could,
whether it be on the ground or in the
air. What a player he was. Please make
me welcome Winston Abraham. Everybody,
thanks for coming on, mate. Thank you.
It's a joy to have you with us. It's a
joy. It's a big thrill for us. We're big
fans. Do you uh do you watch this show?
No.
Did you change your name to Winston from
Ian?
No. Ian's my real name.
I ain't no Winston. Hey, it's great to
have you on here. We got some great
highlights to show a lot of people who
would never have seen you play. It's
unbelievable. When what we what we
generally do is put everybody when a
player comes on, we put their highlights
just in one package because, you know,
it gets us through the highlights before
we get into all the other stuff. at your
highlights, whether they be marks or
goals. In a 110 game career, we're too
good. So, we've separated the marks and
the goals, if you don't mind. So, for a
man who stood 5'9, 175 cm in the old, is
that about right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
That's about right. You'd agree with
anything we said, right? I think No.
178. 178. Okay. So, 178. So, an inch
taller than that. Something like that.
We're going to give you 179.
Take the 17. Are you
6' roll roll the package and have a look
at these first? We're going to have a
look at the marks to begin with. We're
looking at a 6'7 man.
I mean, you are jumping bloke against BS
who are often a foot plus uh higher
taller than you. Is this something you
always had as a kid? Did you always have
the ability to jump and take these
ridiculous marks? Funny funny thing is
we we uh I had I had a couple of cousins
that Oh, yeah. I had a couple of cousins
that just used to kick the ball up and
let us take screamers on them, right?
And and I was, you know, 10, 11 years
old doing that. So
So you always had the ability to ask,
did Dennis, what did what was Dennis
Dennis, was Dennis Pagan a um did he
encourage you to fly for Mark Winston?
No, but
he po used to um just say to me before a
game, he say, "Look, mate, I'm not going
to tell you how to play. You just go and
play." And uh yeah, I didn't have that
at free metal, but when I No, no. Yeah.
Yeah. We're not going to North. What
about your teammates at North? Did they
mind getting your knee back of their
heads from time to time? The duck the
duck said to me one once, he goes, he
goes, "Winnie, I don't mind if you jump
on my shoulders." He said, "Go for it."
He said, and I said, I looked at him and
he goes, he said, "Cuz I'm going to do
it to
you." So, every time I got a chance, I
just went for it. So, they were the
marks. Let's have a look at the goals.
And the one there's the first one here
that just the power when you're right,
the ball is behind you. Look at that
kick has gone post tightened about 10
rows back. Did you always have that
ability? I mean, did you always have a
sweet right foot?
Yeah. I I think um that was another
thing we practiced just kicking
kicking goals. Yeah. Where was your best
position, mate?
Somewhere on the field.
Half forward. Half? No. Yeah. Half
forward. It's a hard position to play.
You you are the Look at this. We want to
know this over here. How do you There's
an obvious question here. Py. Yeah. Did
you go back and pick up your hamstrings
after that guy?
I don't know how you didn't do them.
Extraordinary. How much did you love
playing coming from where you came from?
How much did you love playing your footy
at the MCG? Oh, look, it was Yeah, it
was it was awesome playing there. Um
you just used to go out in the middle of
the ground and have a look around and
then Yeah. I don't know. You you're sort
of like in a bubble when you're out
there. Yeah. Yeah. And you just We spoke
to the young fellas before you came on
and we asked I think I asked Bobby the
question. Was there anywhere on the
ground where you didn't back yourself to
kick a goal from?
Um
no some of the positions you the the
ball I think you don't actually you
don't actually go and kick the ball and
think that you're going to kick the
goal. It just happens. Yeah. It doesn't.
You know, you're not you're not you're
not going there again. It's like me with
jokes, mate.
I really, you know, they just When's it
going to happen? When's it going to
happen? Just tell us. Are we close? Are
we there? I feel I feel it. Can I Can I
take you back to the very start? You
were part of the inaugural team down
there at Freo and I loved when you came
into the competition. It was great to
see you made an impact straight away on
and off the field. Uh, have a look at
this pre I'm not sure if this is
pre-match entertainment or part of some
kind of
martyr. Were you aware of all this going
on at No. No. The the time that I think
that was the first game that was played.
I think it was Sie. Yeah. I think that
was the first game and I Yeah. Scotty
Chisum was woke up on that. Was that
Scotty Chis? Is that him? Was that him?
Was one of the village people for for
for a minute. But did you ever want to
stick your nose out when you're in the
war? You hear I know that was a song.
No. No. No. Did Did you I mean, you love
the footy club, but the song's not
great. Did you I mean, did what? Give us
your thoughts on the Freo song. Well,
I'll tell you a story. When we first got
together, we we had a meeting and and uh
and Jared got us all together and and we
had this meeting and they got this
fellow out singing and sing sing the do
the docker song, the new song, unveiled
the new song. And after we heard it, I
looked at Ben Allen and Ben Ben Allen
goes, "Are you kidding me?"
No one liked it. Shocking. It was so
good. Yeah. So, you start at free, you
end up at North and you're playing a
premiership winning side to How did it
come about that you went from Freeman to
Kangas? We have a look at you kick a
couple just before you do, do you want
to apologize to Mick Ston here? I mean,
nowhere to be seen. You break his ankles
and you're coasting, mate. Like, you're
doing that so easy.
Do you want to apologize to me in
session? No. He's he's a cold man. He
is. How good was it to be? I mean, is it
obvious that this is just the greatest
day you ever had playing footy? Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Know, it's it is um it was
it was a I mean, I don't know how teams
like Hawthorne and Brisbane and
Collingwood and all these teams. Well,
coming back the next year was like, man,
a strange feeling that you're playing in
a grand final year after. Yeah. You
know, you're doing it again. Yeah. But
it was a massive relief to win. When did
you I mean carton weren't much chop that
day. When did you when did you know you
had that game one? Oh when they beat it
in the pre the week.
The week before.
Quite seriously. Did you think No, Boron
and Boron Picket and I were watching the
game and as soon
as we were just like yes
yes we've got Carlton. That uh doesn't
make me feel terribly good. my new
favorite. Maybe no more questions about
the 99 Granny Mar. They're just they're
too hurt. They're too such much pain.
Don't mention the 98 Granny. Yeah. No,
no, not for you anyway. No. So, we 1998.
I'm glad you got us back to 98. If
people were watching uh Winston's
highlight packages, and you're a student
of this man's football that you may have
not noticed, two glaring omissions. One
of the greatest goals ever kicked and
one of the greatest marks ever kicked.
They both came from this man in 1998.
So, let's go to the goal first. It was
against Collingwood and let's just words
don't do it justice so let's just relive
the moment course goes very early
Francis tried to get through in the
center long m well done and Abraham
brone fantastic football through the
center oh could he kick a goal could
this left foot go through it does it's
just absolutely
pangy You played the game at a very high
level, but that is that is a very very
special piece of football. It was fine.
No, Winston. It's an amazing goal,
right? It's an amazing goal. But it
didn't win goal of the year, did it?
What? I beg you, pard. No, it didn't win
goal of the year. You're kidding. No,
because it was I've done my research.
Round 11 that that week. Y uh Winston
keep that kicked that amazing goal.
Didn't win goal of the year. Goal of the
year. Uh let's have a look at that and
we'll just you know just be the judge.
Jeff Farmer's one goal of the year that
year.
Colin the game was the target but they
don't have a crummer at ground level.
Pounced on by Farmer. He's kicked a
couple already. He's dangerous. The
Wizard runs the center wing. Pops it
short to Gary line and keeps running.
The Wizard. He's got it. He's going to
take him on. Runs to 50. Great play.
This could go through but bounces. It's
a goal.
play Jeffrey Farmer.
Rare rare footage there of Gary line
giving off a handball. But Winston, do
you feel hard jud hard done by looking
at those goals back to back? Do you feel
hard done by? No. No. I
um I think I think we both were in the
talks for mark of the year that year. So
I got mark of the year. So we'll get to
Like I said, I did uh I did my research
that those both those goals were um in
round 119. So, not only did you not win
goal of the year, you didn't even win
goal of the week that Jeff Farmer Jeff
Farmer got both of them Winston.
So, you mentioned it wasn't all bad. You
mentioned the mark of the year
contention of course because 1998 again
it was 7 weeks later Mickey and now this
is to this day this sort of defies all
sorts of physics and logic this mark
that he took in camera again words don't
do it justice so let's just let's just
go to the video
somebody who can kick long Wayne Kerry
he
puts reaching overhead It's special. A
big run, a big launch, and a big big
ramp.
Extraordinary. A bit to unpack there.
Let's take a Can you talk us through
what's going on here? So, as the ball
comes in from the duck, there you are.
Right out there almost on the flank. Are
you got this covered at this point? Have
I got it covered? Well, well, the answer
is yes.
I can't believe how far away from that
pack you jumped.
Oh, look. It's it was a weird feeling
because that I I jumped and and the ball
was miles away. It
was suddenly the the wind hit it and
next minute is in my hands. Dang. Well,
I hope you won two cars for that. It's
the mark of the year. Mark of the year.
Yeah. What'd you get? Well, 97
Mitsubishi sponsored. 98 Cadbury
sponsored it. Right.
And in 99 Mitsubishi.
So what did you get? I got chocolates.
Oh no.
So I decided it's a car. I decided it's
a car and you get a couple of blocks of
chocolate. I got 10 kilos of chocolate.
I think Glen Glenn Arch ate six of them.
Okay. Tell me it was a family block.
Tell me what was it? Family block. It
was about as big. Yeah. So I went a
while. So please tell me that was the
best mark you ever took. Uh no it
wasn't. What was the best mark you ever
took? When I was playing juniors in
Naran back in when I was about 15 I
reckon I took a mark in in I standing on
this guy's shoulders just standing
straight up and and landed on my feet.
So he's standing up and your your feet
on his shoulders similar similar to that
similar to that one. I've jumped from
about 4 m away, 5 m. Is there any Is
there any vision of it? No photo.
There's probably there's probably a clip
in the paper in the observer, but not
Winston. There's no footage, so it's
very hard to prove.
Yeah, most all those people are dead.
No.
No, I shouldn't say that. We'll give you
a Marsbar.
Yeah. Are you going to be sticking
around for the footy this week? I know
you got the North Melbourne jumper
there. I think the North Melbourne
jumper's behind you. The jumpers are
such a great uh display of culture and
storytelling. Jumper. There's the North
Jumper. Are you going to be sticking
around watching the footy this weekend?
Yeah. Yep. Um trying to get some tickets
for Friday night and then and then go to
Saturday night game. Yep. You watching
much footy these days? Yeah. Yeah. I'll
try and look My wife and I run a net
club, right? So on Saturdays we're we're
out from 7 till 5. Yeah. Right. We run
the Genders Nipple Club and um Yeah. So
we're busy on Saturdays and then you you
never get to watch you never get to
watch a footy and then
Sundays and daughter plays nipple. Yeah.
Um both boys play footy.
Can I just point out it's taking a bit
of a turn this week.
We just get start sending Winston some
highlights or something so we can see.
Also, did you need did you say you need
tickets to the game on Friday? Yeah.
To sort that out. You're the boss. the
king maker. Oh, there he is. Consider it
done.
Not only
I'll tell you what else I've done. I'll
tell you what else I've done because
it's been so long and because you didn't
get the Mitsubishi. I rang Mitsubishi.
No, this John Rang Mishi during the week
told them the story and I said, "Where
are we at with this?" And they went,
"You know what? will make good. What?
And I'm telling you, this is what
they've done. They've got some more
chalkies for you.
Get your fishy.
You
got it. Got your f got your favorites.
The roses are in. Get your hands off.
Sorry. Sorry. These are for Winston. All
right. Good. Hey, Winston. everything
you did on the footy field through 110
games in this league. It's remarkable
what you're able to do and it's been a
joy for us to relive with you. Thanks
for coming on. Enjoy the weekend, mate.
Can I just say something? Yeah. Yeah.
Just a shout out to the Nunga Golf Club
back home and and the DRS DRSC bangers.
Yeah. Yeah. There you go. Nothing for
the net
club. Winston
Abraham Steven Long to join us next.
Please welcome the unstoppable Mr.
Steven Michael. He was just one of those
freaks of human
nature. He just knew where to go to get
the ball. placed 243 games for his
beloved South between 1975 and 1985. My
first impression as a player it was that
he's a gangly young kid that had
enormous talent. He won 778, 79, 81 and
83. He won the best and fairest of
South. He won two Sand medals. We had
some good ruckmen but within uh two
seasons he just leaprogged a whole lot
of them. He was a magnificent tackler.
He could fly in there and take a mark
standing on your head. He had many an
injury which would have kept other
players out but he never he never missed
work. I think you know when there was
grand final celebrations he was back on
the truck the next day. The only time he
got injured was he went kangaroo
shooting. The bloke shot him in the ass
with a shotgun. They talk about people
that should get statues. I reckon one
day Steven will get a statue in free.
I think we agree with you Malcolm Brown.
Welcome back to the show for Han. our
good uh it is a joy as this incredible
night continues here for us on the front
bar to welcome to the program two
genuine living legends of the game of
Australian rules of football. They're
both well known to this program, both
friends of the show. Please make them
welcome, Michael Long and Steven.
Michael, everybody,
thanks for coming, boys.
It's it's a pleasure to have you here
and the culmination of a great night for
us. It's a great round of football and
congratulations being the ambassador for
the round. Stephen, a great honor. Are
you enjoying it so far? It is very No,
it's it's it's a great
um legacy if that makes sense. You know,
where people put a lot of pride on into
me and all that. But only thing I'm a
bit worried about, how come you three
guys are doing the panel? Can't we get
any color up there?
Well, that's a good shot. Can I just Can
I just say one thing, Ste? I feel like I
feel like I'm flying the flag a little
bit.
Good to see you, brother.
But going back to that, that's, you
know, you look at the great poly farmer,
um, Billy Dempsey, Sid Jackson, Michael
and myself, you know, you couldn't ask
for very good, uh, role models for
indigenous people. And I think, you
know, all we try to do is make sure that
all kids, not just indigenous kids, all
kids get benefit out of it. How was it
down there today? We know this is going
to be a, you know, a celebration of the,
you know, indigenous contribution of
this game. How was it down at the MCG
today as we're getting ready for what's
going to be a big weekend? It was bloody
cold. I imagine it would have been cold
down there. Yeah, it was great. I mean I
mean the launch of it and the the
players and obviously 10 years of you
know the past Doug Nicholls and uh and
see the players. I mean they talk about
this week and you know the celebration.
And it was good to see um those players
embracing this weekend. There's a lot a
lot of functions on as we're celebrating
the indigenous contribution to the game.
You had a big lunch today. It's your
lunch. Uh Longy and I believe you ran
into this bloke here. Was he was hosting
your lunch? Did he ruin it? Like what
happened? Did he ruin? What was he like?
Terrible.
I could not believe he was there and he
didn't say a bloody word.
I think the boys show really. Yes, the
word you used off air was [ __ ] out.
I've been nice. Lonnie, this is where
you come in and defend me. I love you,
brother. Um I I thought you did uh a
good show. Ronnie Burns was he was
outstanding there. Chrissy Johnson, Jay
[ __ ] and two Collins. Um but um yeah,
we had a bit of fun today and obviously
the 30 years of the racial vilification
policy. Um and those guys have been a
huge contribution to to where the game
is today. So, it was it was great. And
the great city Jackson was there. Um, I
didn't realize he was in the audience,
but uh the long walk. We've been going
for 21 years and yes, we've got the walk
on Friday and it's first time Friday
night. So, we'd love everyone to come
down and and to be a part of it because
this is a great celebration, Mick of uh
this week and yeah, it's so um one of
the week I look forward to. Yeah, it's
just such a great game. I love the dream
time game this year, as you point out,
on Friday night for the first time.
It'll be It's always magnificent.
There's a great pre-show. I know Briggs
involved. It's going to be terrific. Um,
and if you've never been part of it, you
want to get down to the MCG cuz it's an
extraordinary atmosphere. Is involved or
I think I've done enough for you.
No, I can I just defend myself? So, the
long walk today was the long lunch. Long
he rings me. I'm thinking you know uh of
anything for you. I'll do anything you
want. He says I need you to I want you
to MC a panel with all those
unbelievable play. I said oh yeah what
just a bit of fun? He goes well it's
just about you know it's about it's 30
years since Anzac Day. 30 years since
you know you you stood up and then the
long walk and reconciliation and
vilification. I go oh yeah sounds like
it'll be a bit of fun.
Um what what do you want me to do with
that long? He goes oh you know pangying
just have fun with it.
No, no. The walk starts at 5:30, so get
there, of course. Yeah. Uh I mean, just
in case you're unaware at all of the
status of these two gentlemen. The
indigenous team of the century was
announced a few years ago. And amongst
this lineup of absolute legends, they're
both part of this team. Rightfully so.
Michael and Steven are part of this
team.
of all the things you've done in footy
of course that's that would still sit I
imagine pretty high up on the list of
achievements to be part of that team.
Yeah, great great honor and um you look
at the color of people that that are a
part of it and um the legacy with South
Free Manal as well and Mel Brown and
there were a lot of players from Dharma
like Benny Vagona, Basil Campbell,
Morris Rioli, Cibby Rioli um and Willie
Row um they were trailblazers that time
and uh you know to to be a part of that
is just um it is amazing. Some of those
things you'd never forget. Long, can I I
say this every time I see this this
team. Are you are you as surprised as I
am that Prime Minister John Howard made
the team?
He was a good raman. He was a good
raman. I thought he was an odd choice.
But anyway, I'm not I've got nothing to
do with uh Michael the Blake next year
was a freak. We we never got to see him
over here. Not not through lack of
trying. Every I reckon every team wanted
Steven Michael to be part of it.
Did did you did you see him play? Did
you see any TV? Did you see any
highlights of him when you were growing
up? You always heard about the legacy of
this great man. And um um but not only
what he'd done on the field, but but off
the field, what he continues to do with
his foundation um and South Men's always
had a a strong relationship with Darwin.
So um you know, and you only hear good
things about this man and got it. Was
there any position you couldn't play?
No, not many.
No, I I was pretty well, you know, in
the early days I was a was a legend for
forward, but I didn't kick many goals
when I come out to South Man. So, you
know, a lot of my kicks was um bit of a
hookie kick. Must have had a crack at
getting you over that. Who had a go? Who
had a go to get you? There's a few clubs
that had a very good go. You know, I
tell the story about Dong, a great club,
don't get me wrong. Went down there. I
said, "Come have a look at our ground.
six inches of bloody mud and I think gez
if you call this the football over then
it rained when we have the barbecue and
I said no
I can see why s kilda didn't have a go
at you would have love my rabbin mate
you would have loved it we saw a picture
here with north Melbourne North
Melbourne they had a go at you as well
at this lunch today Kevin sheet said
that he tried to get you to quite a few
Richmond did too so I got genuine
question and you may have answered it
before but I've never so why didn't you
come my my biggest um um thing was that
my parents took me around to every footy
game in the country when I was young
growing up. You know, they give their
time up. Uh we didn't have much money
cuz the old man worked on the railways
and there's a family of 10 of us in the
kids and all I did was just wanted him
to come watch us play footy at eyes
level. You know, would have been eyes
level over but mom and dad wouldn't have
made cuz you know they had to travel two
hours get on a plane. and mom and dad
would never ever get on a plane and
drive down to Jalong. So, better be a
big fish in a little pond, achieve
everything up there. So, it's not about
making milestones or look at brand loan
medals or stand over medals. All I want
to do is play football and return the
favor. Well done to you. That's
Now, you me you me you mentioned the
cold. You didn't like the cold. He
didn't like the wet loggy. You had
trouble adapting as well. In fact, at
training or after training, you used to
jump into a sauna. And if we have a look
here, you're the only bloke I ever know
he's gone into a sauna wearing a long
sleeve jumper. And is still not
sweating. That's a bloke who's coming
from a very arid region. Long that was
your footy card that year.
I cut for 30 35°. So that was my first
year. But I reckon it was the wetest
year I reckon when the MCG was a mud
pile. So um that was my introduction
coming from uh Darwin. Well, you stuck
at it and you carved out a magnificent
career. I'll ask you as we look at
Nick's highlights, Steven. Did you see
much of him when he was playing only on
uh on the winners and all that, you
know, that kind of stuff? Because um I
always remember a day where he run down
the middle of the ground kicking a goal.
So, you know, these highlights always
stick in and we look at say what we I
call them family members of our race and
that, you know, we look at each other
and say, "Right, you know, this guy's a
champion." He was a magnificent player.
Would you like to have shared a footy
ground with him and shared a jumper at
some stage on the way through
in WA? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Of
course. Yeah. So, we we I mean, we've
we've had the current players and we've
had you two and Winnie here today. You
met the boys earlier, Bobby and and Cos.
Um, how is the state of the game? We
know the numbers are are diminished from
from 5 years ago, 87 down to 62 from
2020 to 2025 indigenous players in the
AFL. You're getting well represented by
the players that are in the league. But
Mick, have you got a is there a reason
for why the numbers have dipped in the
last 5 years?
uh that there's probably various reasons
why but we also asking clubs you know
like um let let's um work with the clubs
and and uh let's improve the numbers you
know um like like with anything um we we
want to help resource we want to help
support clubs if we need to address
issues um and we love this game just as
much as anyone and the the things that
Bobby Hill brings to the game uh our
indigenous players is special and unique
And um we don't want to see that drop.
No, Steve. And um we want to see that
improve and uh yeah, look, it it's
everyone's going to be a part of it, not
just the AFL. It's going to be all clubs
and we want to see it back to where it
should be. Well, you keep doing your bit
and you do over in WA. I mean, the
foundation's more than just footies and
it's more than just sport. I mean, tell
us what you do over there, Stephen. What
we do over there? Um go to different
places. We go right up to Marble Bar,
Mega, Canavan, Geraldton. Go down south
to Bustlin and all that. What we do is
take um well, first the foundation is a
Steve Michael foundation and it's for
all kids, boys, indigenous kids and
non-indigenous kids because I'm a great
believer. We have got to be united as
one to get on in this world. Y and
that's what we do. We go around do all
that. And you know, I know Sam got a lot
of money and all I say to Sam, you know,
if could you just throw a couple million
towards our foundation?
Consider it done.
Consider it done. Unbelievable.
I'm giving Winston Abraham two tickets
for Friday night. You're coughing up 2
mil.
There is a way. What are you doing?
There is a way that other I'm going to
go to the foundation and grab some
stuff. What? There's some there's some
merch available that can help you fund
the programs that you're running via the
foundation website, isn't there? Yes,
there is. Y So, that is vital for you if
Oh, it is. But, you know, we we rely on
a lot of um say mining industries
sponsorship and all that. So, you know,
it's um very very hard. I met uh the
prime minister. We've got a picture of
this here. What did do you saw the
opportunity? What did you say to the
prime minister? What I said to him, I
couldn't remember his last name. His
name was Anthony, but I couldn't
remember his. So, I just walked and
said, "How you going, brother?"
What What do you think of his technique
there with the ball, by the way? Oh, no.
Pretty good. Pretty good. He It's
amazing.
It's amazing that group there he didn't
want to get rid of. Yeah. He spoke to us
for quite a long normally group he's
been getting in there couple seconds, a
couple minutes and out. But he stayed
with us for long, but he didn't give us
any money. Well, we'll keep chipping
away. You and I have that in common.
Hey, we'll have a word to the prime
minister and we'll make that right. I
will. We will in the really busy. Give
me the give me the phone.
Stephen, I noticed on the way in you had
something tucked under your arm and it's
down by the bar. What What What have you
brought in? just um there's a there's a
bit of a picture going there and we
can't well or not we can't we can take
it home. Yeah. But I'll have to donate
this to you guys and say right put it up
in your wall somewhere and say world
it's worth 2 million. So
can
we how do you feel about us putting that
on the set?
Can we have it on the set? Putting put
it right there. You can put it where you
want to put it. All right. That sounded
like a threat.
We know what is it by what is that all
is that the all your stats? Yeah, I
think so.
Yeah. I think so. Yeah. Good man. That
is beautiful.
Fellas, you're the first guest to bring
us a gift. We thank you. Michael, it
wouldn't be this week without you
popping by and you know how much we love
you on this program. Lovely to see you
in such good nick. And Steve, thanks for
coming back. And as honorary of S Doug
Nichols round, hopefully enjoy
everything that sits in front of you
across this amazing weekend of foot,
mate. Thanks to the pair of you for
coming. One thing I'd like to say, Sam
didn't ask my name then was my mom was.
She's still going okay. Sam,
what is wrong with you? Steven, how's
your million? How's your How's your mom?
Mom's going okay. She's in hospital at
the moment, but she's she's going very
well. She's 91 years of age, so she's
going very good. Well, she's the same
much same age as Andy, then. That's
great.
Michael, don't go anywhere. The multi up
there. Look at that. That's beautiful,
mate.
Welcome back to the show. Suck Nichols
round. It is the bumper for how good. Uh
there's a lot to look forward to this
weekend. There's a lot of news still
rolling. Just before we get to it, we
have to cross back to the builders where
the front bar Jouro has got a latest
what that is unbelievable. And oh no, I
mean he's representing us. He he could
he could have won a walk tonight and
look at him. He probably won the meat
raffle. He probably won the raffle.
That's that bouncer will be kicking him
out. He will always the best in the
business.
Uh some good footy to look forward to
this weekend. I mean, it doesn't get
much better than tomorrow night down at
Chalong. The Bailey Smith game. We're
all looking forward to how that one
plays out. Uh dream time on Friday
night's going to be fantastic. Uh C.
Don't forget the pre-match with Briggsy.
It's going to be great. It's going to be
awesome. Him and Mushroom have been
organizing a very good pre-match. It'll
be one for the ages. No, we're looking
forward to that, of course. and um uh
some milestones of note this weekend.
Mitch I mean Mitch Duncan's 300th game
gets overlooked uh tomorrow night
because of the Bailey Smith focus, but
he's been a magnificent servant for the
Julon footy club. Toby Green, what a
player he's been plays his 250th. And
Christian Petra, friend of the program,
plays his 200th. Toby Green would have
played 400 if he hadn't been suspended.
How many did you play? 250. 250th. Yeah.
Jet and GWS are hoping for 250 fans to
draw up celebrate.
You're down. You're down on their crowd
numbers, aren't you? I'm still shadowed.
Steven Michael just took me to shreds
for a second over there. You two You two
did nothing to protect me. He's asked
you for 2 million. I was looking forward
to what he's going to ask us to do. Are
you good for it or not? Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Good. Time now for the multi. Oh,
here we go.
Here we go. Uh, this has got to be a
good one. Get involved. Feeling good
about it. I'm feeling good about this
one. Let's crack into it. Uh, first up
and big news this week is Nathan Buckley
uh has thrown his head into the ring to
become the coach of the new Tazzy team.
It's in all the news shows. It's in all
the footy shows. You've heard a lot
about it. There is a news tear. Uh, I'd
like to wager that I've got exclusive
exclusive images of him taking their
call. There he
is. I'm available.
By the way, that phone, that's still
cutting edge technology in Tasmania.
That is that's like a mobile. You can't
have it. But how about you have Bobby
Hill to kick two or more against North
and I'll give you 163. I'll take it.
Second leg now before the Swans Carlton
a match at the SCG. The turn styles
malfunctioned uh taking down all the
gates leaving punters locked out of the
stadium. There's the turn styles. Uh sad
scenes for footy fans trying to get in.
Uh also uh I'd like to wager the same
malfunction was responsible for Carlton
fans not being able to get out at three
point time.
Can I Can I have it? No, Nick, you can't
have it. But how about you take Carlton
to beat the Giants at the line and you
have a $1 190 for that. What do you
reckon? I'll take it third leg. Now,
it's usually the job of the DJ uh to
keep it rolling to keep people up and
about. Well, at the Essen game, that
proved not to be the case uh as this guy
just dropped the ball when they were 90
points down. Let's cut to the DJ uh to
pep it up.
And 30 seconds to go into the last
quarter.
And that's not great.
I'd like to wager you can choose from
the following. That DJ's name is Fat
Board
Slim or
or Fat Boy Sleep.
Can I have another You got another
choice. highlight. Do you have any
Winston Abraham highlights? Got a
Winston Abraham highlight just to play
just to just to get the crowd back at
home. We might have one. Yeah.
Have a look at the scoreboard by the
way. 128 to 121. It's a clutch goal.
That's when footy was great. This is the
golden era of footy. It was the multi.
No, Mickey, you can't have it. But then
you have Bailey Dale to kit 30 or more
and you can have two. Get back now.
Final leg. Final leg. Had 49 last week.
Guys, guys, guys. Final leg. Right.
Sorry. Oh, sorry. It's almost over. No,
it's it's going to be worth it when you
see where I'm going. I'm ready. Wait.
Buckle up.
Uh, maybe
not. Look at this. Uh,
now you know and I know there's nothing
worse than getting caught in traffic. I
know. But imagine you're coming home and
you just or you're going to work and all
you want to do is get there on time and
you see this. I know. On the on the
road. It's a gopher fight. It's a gopher
fight. Guys, guys, settle down. But this
has this has roadkill written all over
it. By the
way, I'd like to wager that that guy's
boss is not going to believe him when he
says, "I'm really sorry I'm late, but I
was held up by two gophers fighting.
You can't No, boss. You can't have it.
No, boss.
to see you. Sorry, boss. I'm really
sorry, but I was coming to work and I
was on time, but there were two gophers,
aren't you? Fighting. Yes. No one's
going to believe it. No, you they won't
believe it. I can't believe it. No, but
you can't have it anyway. Uh, it's the
last leg. It's got tears coming
out fighting. It's a road rage. What
about What about you Mason Redmond? He
said you have 24 or more off back and
you have 220. What do you reckon?
Couldn't care less. Just
that. Look at that. 17. No, we care
about that. There it is. Get on the
feed. By the way, if you like I'd rather
bet on a golfers. Jump onto the feed if
you like pay-per-view. I would get I
would watch those gophers on a
pay-per-view channel. Jump on the feed
in the Sorry, boss. I was on the freeway
in the sports bet. Two Gophers. Find and
follow Mix Multi. And of course, no
one's believing that. Place your bet.

ride with us on seven and 7 plus.
Welcome back to the show. The last shout
of course. Uh we are I mean we love
these jumpers. We've talked about it for
the last two weeks. The
Richmond Michael Long's over at the bar
of course hanging on to the Essin and
jumper. They are great stories on every
single jumper and the way that the
stories are personally told now by
people who are involved with the footy
club m just so fantastic. It's a great
addition to every season that we have
now in the in the AFL that the footy
jumpers in S Doug Nichols round. So, uh
there's a lot to uh a lot to take in and
a lot to appreciate. Steven, what do you
what do you happy? Your legend.
We got a shot of it. There it is. There
it is. What do you reckon? That goes all
right, doesn't it? That is Yeah. No. No.
Very nice indeed. Well, while we're
celebrating, uh, well, we've celebrated
everyone tonight, but I would have
thought long, you know, you've been on a
lot of time, so we probably gave, you
know, Longie a bit of a bit more of a
backseat tonight. Let the others shine.
But I wanted to, just in case the others
haven't, you may have forgotten how good
this man was in Well, the young fellas
might not have seen this. Well, this is
particular. People ask us to play
because Bobby, this is this is Michael
Long and uh this moment from the 1993
grand final with this handball to Gavin
Wanganine. It's just uh just we
generally marvel at how good that
handball was and you know because long a
lot of there's a lot of different
highlights we can play every time you
come in. I just wanted to say that that
is is marvelous but also regular viewers
of our show would know that we're
contractually obliged um to play this
clip of you talking about that special
connection that you and Gavin Wanganine
have. Yep. sort of mental telepathy. So
me and Gavin sort of call each other,
you know, by
uh on by phone, I suppose.
No, it's your it's the best ever. Best
thing ever. Oh, he's upgraded his phone
now. Hey fellas, thanks for coming on.
Uh to the two young BS who are going to
play this weekend, we really appreciate
it. and to those who came before and the
footsteps that you follow in Michael,
Steven, and Winston. We we love this
weekend. Uh we love last week as the
precursor and uh this show is really
special to everyone at the Front Bar
that we get to share uh the platform or
you you allow us to share the platform
with you fellas this weekend. So, thanks
so much for coming on the show. It means
a lot to us. So, please put your hands
together for these magnificent
footballers. That's it. We're done and
dusted. Uh, next week on the show,
Lawrence Mooney returns Wednesday night
8:30. Keith Greg, twotime Brownway
medalist. He's going to join us on the
program. A lot to look forward to. Enjoy
your footy over the weekend. Thanks.
Thank you.
