Hello everyone, this is Teacher Sol.
It's been a while for all of you, right?
I took a short break during the summer.
Do you sometimes feel sad,
low on energy,
and lacking motivation?
Actually, I tend to get unmotivated quite easily.
Have you ever experienced something like that?
I took a short break this time
and thought about various things.
Why am I so lazy?
Why do I become so easily unmotivated?
Why do I sometimes not want to do anything at all?
I've thought about these things a lot.
So today, I want to share a bit of my honest story.
I want to talk about why I feel so unmotivated sometimes,
and what I try to do when I’m in that state.
I’d appreciate it if you enjoyed listening to my honest story today!
In the summer, it’s too hot and
I don’t feel like working,
and in the winter, it’s too cold and
I don’t feel like working either.
And when the weather’s too nice,
I want to go outside, so I don’t feel like working then either.
I’ve got so many excuses like these.
I really love lying on this bed,
especially since I sleep a lot.
So after work,
I eat, and whenever I eat,
I always feel sleepy.
I think, 'I'll just sleep for 30 minutes,'
but that turns into 2 hours,
then 3 hours, and when I wake up,
I have to eat again
and then get back to work,
so I find I have very little time.
In the past, I used to wake up at 5 AM
and work until 11 or 12 PM, without sleeping.
but now, everyone, I sleep too much.
I sleep too much, and
sometimes, especially on weekends, even when I have time,
there are so many fun things like YouTube and Instagram, right?
So when I look at my phone,
time just flies by.
So the things I thought I would do today,
I end up thinking, 'Oh, I'll do them tomorrow.'
I tend to keep putting things off.
I'm not always like that,
but I have a bit of a cycle.
I work really hard, and then
suddenly I don't want to do anything.
So there were many times when I slept for about 15 or 16 hours a day.
I kept sleeping like that,
thinking, 'Why am I so pathetic?
I can't live like this,'
and then I would try to live diligently again,
but I would get tired and keep sleeping.
I repeated this kind of life.
I would work hard, then stop, then start again, take breaks,
and when I watch people on YouTube
who are really living diligently,
I think, 'Wow, that's amazing.'
How can they be so consistent?
I think consistent people are really impressive.
I don't have that consistency.
I lack consistency and
I tried to set some rules,
but they disappeared,
so I think this year has been particularly tough for me.
I've often wondered
how I can work consistently
like other people do.
I especially slept a lot last month.
I really felt lethargic and unmotivated.
While going through such a situation,
I thought about why we become so lazy
and why I feel this lethargy.
I wanted to overcome this again,
so I looked for a lot of things.
Usually, the reason we don't want to do anything is that
It’s usually either that I have zero energy...
we have no motivation
or feel pressured because there are too many things we want to do.
Many people also want to do things perfectly.
It's said that this tendency towards perfectionism
often leads to not starting
because they feel they can't do it perfectly.
And again, emotionally.
we feel stressed due to work,
or feel anxious, or be sad.
They say there are various reasons
In my case, I think
I experienced a bit of all of that.
I also went through burnout,
and I wondered, why am I working so hard?
My motivation and drive faded a bit,
and I think I felt anxious and stressed during that time.
So, while feeling this way,
I've been thinking about how I can overcome this.
how can I get back up
and do the things I need and want to do?
I've also thought about those.
In order to overcome this lack of motivation,
the first thing I did was just rest well.
I thought that my body being so lethargic
and constantly feeling sleepy
was a signal from my body.
My body is really tired
and I'm feeling sleepy,
but when I try to force myself to work like this,
I can't concentrate anyway.
So I thought, oh,
do you want to sleep?
Just sleep a lot.
Sleep well.
For a few weeks, I just played games,
slept, and rested comfortably until my body felt relaxed.
After eating well and resting completely like that, ah,
I started to think
that I should get up a little
and do some work.
From that point on, I began to move little by little.
I started going outside for walks,
doing some of the housework that had piled up at home,
cleaning a bit,
and trying to move my body little by little while resting well.
So I thought, let's try to work for just 5 minutes,
exactly 5 minutes.
Today, let's just focus for 20 minutes,
just 20 minutes.
I set short times
and small tasks like this
and just do those.
Thinking this way,
I found that I could gradually get up and start working.
Usually, when people feel unmotivated,
they think, 'I'll get up and work
or study when I feel motivated,'
but it's actually the opposite.
They say that if we get up,
move our bodies,
and try to do something, even a little bit,
motivation slowly starts to come back.
I think I felt that way too.
After lying down all day,
when I got up the next day
and walked a bit,
I thought, since I walked anyway...
Let's do some laundry.
After doing the laundry
and a bit of cleaning,
let's start working a little.
I think that's how it happened.
So, I decided to start with small tasks.
Moving my body even a little.
I believe that's where I started.
And the second thing is,
I changed my environment.
I live in this small studio apartment.
So, the bed and desk are right next to each other.
When I'm working at the desk
and feel a bit tired,
I just lie down on the bed immediately.
and can't get up for 2 or 3 hours.
So I thought, ah,
I need to get some work done today.
When I think like this,
I just go outside.
Whether I go to a cafe or a library,
When my environment changes like this,
I can focus much better.
I especially like going to cafes,
so let's just go to a cafe
and eat some delicious cake.
If I go to a cafe like this,
I can at least sit down and do a bit of work,
and being outside in a different environment
helps me focus better.
So, if I can’t seem to focus at home,
I usually try to go somewhere else.
These days, it's so hot in the summer that it's hard to go out,
but I often go out in the evening when the weather is nice.
During the day, I just lie around and sleep like this, but in the evening,
since the weather is nice,
let's at least go to a café.
So when I go to a cafe,
I end up studying or working a little.
So I think changing the environment like this is a good method.
And the third one. Next is,
on the lock screen of this phone,
I have written my goals
I am a goal-oriented person,
so I write down what I want
and what I want to achieve.
Without goals,
I easily lose motivation.
So, why I want to study,
I write down why I want to do these things
and what I want to achieve,
and I try to look at it as often as possible.
Whenever I lie down and feel lazy,
I remind myself, ah, that's right.
I wanted to do this.
Oh, right.
I had this kind of goal.
Seeing this still
gives me a bit of motivation.
I feel like I need to consistently look at my goals and things I want to do
in order to feel more motivated,
so I write down my goals and check them
often whenever I lack motivation.
I think this is a big help for me.
And I also know that I lack willpower.
Knowing that my willpower is weak,
I just installed an app that locks
my phone.
I set it up so that I can only use Instagram for 1 hour,
YouTube for 1 hour,
and Instagram for 1 hour.
So after using my phone for 2 hours,
I can't do it anymore.
I feel like I need to do something else.
Then at that time, I sometimes exercise and
sometimes study,
and for those who, like me, lack willpower,
I recommend using apps like this.
They just lock you out forcibly.
And finally, everyone,
it's about not blaming yourself.
Especially when I rest a lot
or sleep all day,
I start to really dislike myself.
I think, 'Oh, I'm really pathetic,'
compared to all the people who are living diligently.
Especially on social media,
There are so many people who live way too hard.
Looking at people like that
makes me think, why am I like this?
I compare myself a lot
and keep criticizing myself, thinking,
oh, why am I so pathetic?
As I keep having these thoughts,
I feel even more powerless.
Ah, I don't want to do this.
I'm not going to be able to do it anyway.
I have a lot of thoughts like this,
so I want to stop this self-criticism, thinking I'm so pathetic.
If i feel like I want to rest and sleep,
Well,
you've worked hard until now, so
Let's take a break today.
It's okay to rest.
You deserve to take a break.
Even when I feel a bit unmotivated,
I try to say good things to myself.
A bit of self gaslighting?
That's how it feels,
but if i keep saying bad things to me,
and I keep wondering why you're like that,
I end up getting into a worse cycle.
So when I feel this way,
I think, 'Ah, I've worked hard until now.'
It's okay to get some rest.
Let's rest a bit today.
I'm trying to give myself enough time to rest
without hating myself.
And I think it's totally normal for everyone
to feel unmotivated and not want to do anything sometimes — we're only human.
As you all know,
I have a personality
that works hard
and then doesn't work hard again.
I do go back and forth a lot.
I think it's okay
to take a little break when you're feeling a bit unmotivated.
Instead of comparing yourself to others
or criticizing yourself,
it might be good to do what you can, little by little.
Yes, everyone, today I talked about laziness and lack of motivation
and how I tried to overcome things.
I'm quite interested in mental health as well.
productivity or laziness,
and why we work. I have a lot of thoughts about these.
I often want to share my thoughts with you all.
I hope you enjoyed my story today,
and I'll bring more stories next time.
I hope you all have a happy day today,
and I'll see you again next time.
Thank you, everyone♡
