0:37 goal setting and goal attainment the
0:40 answer is simple you need an effective
0:43 action plan the first step in creating
0:45 an action plan is deciding exactly what
0:48 you want Clarity is the most important
0:51 single quality of goal setting and
0:52 perhaps the most important single
0:55 quality of success instead of fuzzy
0:58 goals like more money better health and
1:01 happiness these specific about exactly
1:03 how much money you want to earn in a
1:06 specific period of time or what level of
1:08 health and fitness or weight that you
1:12 desire you need to set goals that are
1:14 multi-dimensional and for every part of
1:16 your life so that you function like a
1:19 well-oiled goal setting goal achieving
1:22 machine you need goals for your health
1:24 your career your finances your
1:26 relationships your personal and
1:28 professional development and your
1:31 community and spiritual growth this will
1:33 immediately put you in a separate
1:36 category from people because most people
1:39 have no idea what they really want most
1:41 people are unconsciously preoccupied
1:43 with the fear of failure which blocks
1:46 them from setting clear specific goals
1:49 if you don't set clear specific goals
1:51 then you can't fail to achieve them
1:54 because they're so vague this is a major
1:57 reason for failure next write your goals
2:00 or goal down in a sheet of paper only 3%
2:02 of adults have written goals and
2:06 everyone else plans to write them down
2:08 someday success begins with a piece of
2:11 paper a pen and a few minutes of your
2:14 time you can start with the three goal
2:17 method in less than 30 seconds quickly
2:19 write down your three most important
2:22 goals in life right now whatever three
2:25 goals you manage to write down is
2:27 probably an accurate picture of what you
2:30 really want in life when you actually
2:33 write a goal down it is as if you are
2:36 programming it into your subconscious
2:38 mind and activating a whole series of
2:41 mental powers that will enable you to
2:43 accomplish much more than you ever
2:46 dreamed of you begin to expect to
2:47 achieve the goal and you start to
2:50 attract people and circumstances into
2:52 your life that are consistent with the
2:55 attainment of your goal the third step
2:57 is setting a deadline if it's a large
3:00 goal set a series of sub deadlines and
3:02 what if you don't achieve your goal by
3:05 the deadline set another deadline
3:07 remember a deadline is just a
3:10 guesstimate of when you will achieve it
3:12 you may achieve the goal well in advance
3:15 or it may take you much longer than you
3:18 expect but you must have a Target time
3:22 before you set off a deadline acts as a
3:25 forcing system on your subconscious mind
3:28 toward achieving your goal on schedule
3:29 if you want to achieve financially
3:32 Independence you may set a 10 or 20 year
3:35 goal and then break it down year by year
3:37 so that you know how much you have to
3:41 save and invest each year there are no
3:44 unreasonable goals only unreasonable
3:46 deadlines the next step in creating an
3:49 action plan is making a list of
3:50 everything that you could possibly think
3:53 of that you will have to do to achieve
3:56 your goal after having a written goal
3:58 one of the things that holds people back
4:01 is not taking the time to lay out a list
4:02 of all the little things they will have
4:04 to do to get
4:06 there identify the obstacles that you
4:09 will have to overcome identify the
4:12 knowledge information and skills you
4:14 will need and then identify the people
4:16 whose help and cooperation you will
4:19 require to achieve your goal the more
4:22 comprehensive your list the more
4:24 motivated you will become the more
4:26 intense will be your desire and the more
4:29 you will believe it is possible
4:31 combine all these things into a plan
4:35 organized by priority and sequence
4:37 priority is what is more important and
4:39 less important sequence is what you have
4:42 to do before you do something else and
4:43 in what
4:46 order list every single step that you
4:47 can think of that you will have to
4:50 follow as you think of new items add
4:53 them to your list the 8020 rule says
4:56 that 80% of your results will come from
4:59 20% of your activities the 2080 rule
5:02 says that the first 20% of time that you
5:04 spend planning your goal and organize
5:08 your plan will be worth 80% of the time
5:11 and effort required to achieve the goal
5:12 now that you have this comprehensive
5:15 list schedule it into a comprehensive
5:18 plan plan each day week and month in
5:21 advance plan each month at the beginning
5:24 of the month plan each week the weekend
5:26 before and plan each day the evening
5:29 before the more careful and detailed you
5:31 are are when you plan your activities
5:34 and tasks the more you will accomplish
5:37 in less time the rule is that each
5:40 minute spent on planning saves 10
5:42 minutes on
5:44 execution then as you go through each
5:47 day of your plan select your number one
5:50 most important goal for the day again
5:52 you can set your priorities with the 8020
5:53 8020
5:56 rule ask yourself if I can only do one
5:59 thing on this list which one activity is
6:02 most important then ask yourself if I
6:04 could only do one other task on this
6:07 list which one would be the most
6:10 valuable use of my time then write a
6:13 number two next to it now keep asking
6:16 this question until you have the top 20%
6:19 of your tasks organized by sequence and
6:22 priority and now you have an action plan
6:25 your next step is to take action keep
6:27 track of your progress and make
6:29 adjustments along the way make sure sure
6:32 you're doing something every day to move
6:34 you in the direction of what you really
