0:03 who was the real Robin Hood now I have
0:06 to apologize you see that intro was a
0:08 little bit misleading because when it
0:11 comes to identifying the real Robin Hood
0:14 it is simply impossible to single out
0:16 just one individual and I'll tell you
0:19 why it's because the fictional Robin
0:21 Hood character from the stories hasn't
0:24 always been the same person now there
0:26 were in fact multiple different versions
0:28 of the Robin Hood character throughout
0:30 the centuries is even appeared in
0:33 different timelines so with all these
0:35 facts in mind there couldn't possibly
0:39 just be the one real Robin Hood it's far
0:41 more likely that there were several
0:43 different men throughout the medieval
0:45 period who inspired the various
0:47 different fictional versions of the
0:50 Robin Hood character and when we cross
0:52 reference the stories with historical
0:55 record we find out that that is very
0:58 much the case so historically speaking
1:01 there was more than one Robin
1:03 hood and these real Robin hoods
1:05 certainly weren't robbing the rich to
1:08 give to the poor in fact some of these
1:11 Lads were straight up Savage thugs so
1:14 who were the real Robin hoods firstly
1:16 not all of these men were actually
1:18 called Robin Hood so we'll start with
1:20 the historical non Robins we have heroid
1:23 the Wake he was an Anglo-Saxon nobleman
1:25 who fought against Norman tyranny then
1:27 we have Fulk Fitz Warren another
1:29 nobleman he had a real life rivalry with
1:32 Prince John then we have Roger godbird
1:34 he worked at the Garrison of Nottingham
1:36 Castle after which he went on a massive
1:39 crime spree with his merry band of lads
1:41 then of course we have the real Robin of
1:43 Loxley Robert Fitz Odo he was a knight
1:46 and Lord of Loxley Manor in warshire and
1:48 an honorable mention for willin of the
1:50 wield otherwise known as William of
1:52 cassingham now we're moving on to the
1:54 historical Robbins The Men Who were
1:56 actually called Robin Hood we have Robin
1:58 Hood of Linton and he was quite possibly
2:00 the first historical Robin Hood as he
2:03 appears on records as hob hod which is
2:05 almost like an archaic way of saying
2:07 Robin Hood it could have very well even
2:10 been pronounced as robod then we have
2:12 Robin Hood of weatherbe again he appears
2:14 on records as an outlaw and as an
2:16 evildoer and he would eventually meet
2:18 his end at the hands of the sheriff of
2:20 Yorkshire who would incidentally end up
2:22 becoming the sheriff of Nottinghamshire
2:24 but that's a story for another time and
2:26 then last but not least we have your lad
2:29 here Robin Hood of Wakefield yes I did
2:32 exist was a 14th century yman Forester
2:35 living in Wakefield with my last Matilda
2:37 and my exploits helped to inspire the
2:40 original Robin Hood Stories the early ballads
