all right so the JBL wave series is back
with the bank this is the new beam 2 and
this is the new buds 2 and this is a
spoiler alert mind you but the wave
Series has leveled up in terms of sound
quality and you guys know how much I
care about the sound no really it is
actually truly audio file grade now
that's not it the wave series now gets
support for ANC which means that the
wave the tune the live and the Tour
series four series that J actually makes
all of them have ANC now anyway we're
going to be talking about the two new
products in this video so so of course
stay tuned till the end if you're here
for the first time I'm Asad you're
watching track and Tech English your
destination for detailed incisive Gadget
reviews now the thing with the Butts 2
and the beam 2 is the fact that JBL
actually provides you with the choice of
your fit so you've got two different
designs right I mean if you want the
butd style then you pick the Butts 2 and
if you want the stick style then you
pick the beam to cases available in
different colors I really like this blue
one it's got a matte finish as well and
it flips open like this easily with one
finger I like this there's also a small
indicator light at the front which gives
you a connection status or a charging
indicator light sort of thing which is
nice plus you've got a typ-c port at the
bottom the buds on the other hand has a
very unique topless design where you
don't have the lid actually so obviously
it's going to attract a lot of dust
which is something that you have to keep
in mind but the one question that I had
in my mind was are the magnets strong
enough to be able to withstand the
Mumbai local let's do that live Yan test
okay this is a
lot oh wow these are extremely strong
magnets good job JBL now the one problem
with JBL wave beam initially was at the
end points the magnetic end points uh
they would have some connection issues
primarily because you know after
exercise it would get wet and it
wouldn't be able to connect easily but
with this one they've actually taken
that feedback and improved it so now
these end points are stainless steel and
they're wider which is very nice so J
cliar seems that there won't be any
connectivity issues or basically that
you know it won't lose out on charge if
you put it in the case so that's
something that J did mention and the
good thing is we didn't notice any
anomaly in our testing either now both
these buds also have support for ip54
rating which is nice and you also get
ipx2 creating on the case now all of
this looks very similar to last year and
it's a slight bit of refinement but the
one thing we noticed is that the shape
of the housings themselves have changed
and this means that the fit is better
especially for the buds now this is
something that I must mention
specifically because uh you know
somebody in our office actually
purchased the original JBL wave Buds and
they found them to be slightly
uncomfortable but with the wave buds 2
it's actually much more comfortable now
in fact both the Butts 2 and the beam 2
are great for long lising sessions which
is again a good progress now before
talking about the connectivity and the
features let me talk about you guys
staying connected with track and te
English yeah go ahead hit that subscribe
button if you haven't already we'd love
your support now with the buds 2 and the
beam 2 you actually get support for
Bluetooth 5.3 now which is definitely
been upgraded but when you're connecting
these butts for the very first time you
get support for both Google's fast pair
and Microsoft Swift pair which means
that if you are connecting these butts
to an Android device they will
automatically pair up not a problem at
all in fact Bluetooth pairing happens
very easily and I didn't face any
connectivity issues while I was testing
the products which is nice but one thing
I must definitely mention is that there
is no dedicated Bluetooth pairing button
and the Bluetooth pairing command is by
hitting the you know gesture control on
the buds once and then holding it for 5
seconds which I felt was a little
counter intuitive but yeah I think that
a Bluetooth pairing button is required
now one of the most important upgrades
is of course the fact that you get
support for active noise cancellation
now when the active noise cancellation
when I tested it out it works fairly
well it does a decent job of you know
reducing constant hums like the woring
of a fan or even the AC the one thing I
like about the NC performance is that it
doesn't actually create a vacuum in your
head which is a problem that we noticed
with many headphones and earphones so
yeah that's not a problem here of course
you also do get support for ambient
aware and talk through modes now ambient
aware is jbl's very own version of what
it calls the transparency mode and it
works fairly well and talk through is
one where you know it reduces the volume
of the music so that you can have a
conversation very easily and it works
fairly well it doesn't create any sort
of robotic noise which is what I was
worried about which is a good thing now
all of the features in these truly
wireless buds can actually be accessed
from the JBL app so you can switch on
smart audio and video settings you can
adjust the gesture controls and play
around with the equalizer there's also
multipoint connectivity and it works
exceptionally well now these are of
course your basic settings but there are
a few extra specific to JBL products
that I kind of like for example you can
adjust the Left Right Channel balance so
if you are sensitive to hearing on the
left ear or the right ear you can change
that you can also add a maximum volume
limiter and adjust the voice a levels
and by the way the JBL app also comes
with options for find my buds power
saving options plus a few relaxing
sounds as well now the relaxing sounds
is a new feature which has been added to
the wave series and with that basically
what you get at you know like the lame
suggests relaxing sounds now the smart
audio and video settings are very
important in jbl's context first let me
tell you why the Smart Video is
important now when you switch on Smart
Video it reduces the latency which means
that if you're watching Youtube content
or Netflix content then you definitely
need to switch it on because it not just
helps with video but also when you're
gaming this is one of the concerns that
I had with previous JBL Buds where the
latency performance was not that great
but with this one they've actually
improved it now when you look at gesture
controls they're actually very
interestingly done because what you get
are four specific options you get
Ambient sound control volume control
playback control or you can just set it
to none so basically what you can do is
you can set any one of these bunch of
controls for example you can have volume
control on the right earbud and Playback
control on the left earbud but then what
it means is that you will have to
sacrifice of the Ambient sound control
so you won't be able to do that with
gestures so basically in the setting
that I had kept I couldn't control the
Ambient sound controls which is a bit
limiting but considering that I get
volume control I'm okay with it because
many buds in this price range don't give
you volume control on the butts and the
gestures actually work really well on
both the butts so when you touch it to
when the control actually gets
implemented is the latency is actually
pretty decent but I'm slightly
disappointed with the fact that you
still do not get any inear detection so
it doesn't play post music when you take
the buds out of the year and then put it
back again yes this is something that I
really like all right it's time to talk
about the sound and both these buds
actually come with 8 mm drivers inside
each housing and they have support for
the SBC and as CeX they don't have any
support for highrisk CeX like ldac or
lhdc but in this price range you cannot
expect for more now to talk about the
sound signature I'm going to be talking
in context with the beam to the default
sound signature is a U-shaped one so
what you get is heighten base and
heighten treble it's a very Massy sound
some we are very well aware of but
here's the thing remember how I said
smart audio is also very important so I
switched on smart audio and I switched
the EQ to Studio setting and the sound
came alive and it changed completely the
entire sound signature then turned into
a kind of balanced sound with a little
bit of heft in the bass because bass
obviously is very important for JBL but
it was actually something that I
appreciate it now when I Chang these two
settings what I noticed is that the base
had very little DK the attack was much
faster now of course the volume was less
but the attack was faster and that's a
trade-off that I prefer especially in a
song like Rumble by Skrillex where you
want the base attack to be very very
tight the beam 2 doesn't disappoint the
mids are also particularly weighty and
impressive because in a song like
Stairway to Heaven by Leed Zeppelin When
the drums kicking you want to hear
correct tonality of the drum beats and
you know what again the bam2 did a
fairly decent job for its price now with
the treble I noticed that it has a fair
bit of extension and you can hear the
Shimmer and the sparkle but the problem
is that it sounds a little thin I would
have liked a little bit more weight in
the treble section as well there are a
few more things I liked about the sound
the sound staging and the Imaging in
particular especially for this price
range you can actually hear every single
instrument in the mix which is something
that I was again taken back by when you
listen to St to heaven the initial
portion where you want the initial
guitar card progression to sit on the
left the melron to sit on the right and
the vocals on the front again the beam 2
impressed me and for this price range
what I specifically liked about the beam
2 more so than the buds 2 itself is the
detailed retrieval I could listen to
nuances in the sound which I wouldn't
otherwise be able to listen to in you
know some other truly Val earbuds that
I've tested in this price class this is
clearly JBL leveling up in terms of
sound quality and you know I must say
this something I didn't measure
officially something I really want to
fix in the future is the fact that we
want to draw our own frequency graphs
but for now I feel I genuinely feel that
the sound signature with the studio EQ
on and smart audio on I feel like the
processing or the sound signature itself
is very close to a harm and T get very
close to it I'm not so sure about it but
I think it's very close to it now
battery life on both these BS have been
improved so you get 10 hours of music
playback with 30 hours in the case
themselves which is kind of nice but
this is withc off and when you switch
onc you get about 8 hours withc on and
you get 24 hours of battery backup from
the case so you can charge it Thrice now
when we tested it out we got about 7
hours withc on which is not too bad not
too far off from what JBL claims as for
charging you get a type-c cable inside
the box and if you charge these buds for
10 minutes then you get 4 hours of
playback from it which is nice by the
way you've got four beam forming mics on
the beam 2 and the buds 2 now
considering the beam 2 actually has a
stick style design it does better with
mic quality why did you take a listen to
it and let me know which one you guys
actually prefer in the comment section
hey hi Nishant what's up hey what's
up what's
up hey what's up so if you look at it
holistically JBL has made 360°
Improvement to the products the battery
is improved the mics are better the fit
is better you also do getc now and most
importantly the sound quality has
leveled up and I wouldn't have any
hesitation in saying this that the beam
2 especially would be you know among my
top three best sounding truly wiress
earbuds in its price class right now fun
engaging and yet filled with Clarity and
trust me this is something that I never
expected I would say but yeah it's what
it is and you know what the best part is
the price so the beam 2 is retailing for
4,000 R and the buds 2 is at 3,000 500
so yeah you can't go wrong with these
honestly all right that's it from me for
this one I hope you like this video if
you did don't forget to give it a thumbs
up and subscribe I'll see you guys in
the next one until then keep checking
