as we spend one night at the Ritz

Paris That is one impressive

[Music]

Are

it was such a long

This is so

beautiful You don't know where to

look The lighting in here is gorgeous

They're currently having afternoon tea

there but we'll have a look around the

hotel in a bit more detail in a bit But

first let's head straight up to my room

which we can get to via the

lift or the stairs

This is my room key in this tiny little

Ritz

envelope Here is my floor Floor number

Wow just check out the

hallways There's something so satisfying

about seeing all those lights in the

line like that and the

wallpaper There's secret doors

everywhere here Look there's a couple of

doors there to something

Anyway let's take you to my

room which is right here Room number 210

I mean when you think of the Ritz Paris

I guess this is what you would think

with that beautiful antique clock on the

fireplace the lighting in here the gold

surround on the mirror and actually it's

like stepping back in time The lighting

situation in here is messed up I'll

explain why in just a second But as you

walk through the hotel and you walk

through the corridors it smells amazing

Now this is where I wish smellvision

would come in because when I came into

the room compared to just the hallway

the smell is completely different And

it's not nice It's a musty and I feel

bad saying this cuz this is the Ritz in

Paris If you had a musty smell

swingometer where 10 was really musty

and a bit smelly dirty and one was it's

a bit musty this is

like nine I feel bad saying it cuz it's

an absolutely beautiful room But yeah I

think we're going to have to open a

window Let's talk value for money and

goodies So we have got some goodies in

the room I am surprised however there's

no bottle of champagne because between

me and you it's Gabby's birthday today

and Gabby is joining me on this trip

She's downstairs with Casper at the

minute They're having some food and I

informed the hotel about the special

occasion But let's check out some of the

welcome gifts that I've got I'm quite

surprised actually for the Ritz because

that's just a simple chocolate bar with

Smarties Don't get me wrong it's nice

but the cake on the other side is a bit

more ritzy There's a bit of gold leaf on

there There's the logo of the Ritz that

looks really nice Chocolate cake Um I do

have some strawberry nectar And we do

have some posh water some Evian Close up

though not very antique but the

attention to detail right just uh and

hope the camera picks this up Can you

see there is a Ritz logo there

beautifully on the knife and also again

I don't know whether you can see that

but there's ritz on the glass Branding

is on point But just look at these

chairs Almost feels like they're fit for

a king or a queen All this gold painted

and this what looks like gold upholstery

But the carpet in here wow just looks

really nice And you know I can't see any

stains whatsoever You know what I'm like

i check out these things And it does

look well almost like a new carpet But

first of all this is what is great about

this room It's like going back in time I

was told that these are the functions

for the room So you've got the AC off

and on there Ambience lighting on and

off lighting room

service awning I guess that's for the

balcony Oh and we can control the

temperature from here as well But we can

do all of that on the phone as well Look

at that Isn't that beautiful

definitely have to take that pen That is

very nice But the gold continues here

Look on the on the lamp It's just so

elegant and so I know this is going to

sound stupid to say but so French It

really is lovely These are everywhere as

well So there's one here There's another

one over there And there's some when we

came in If I just go all the way over

here I'll show you

These are obviously another way to turn

the light on and off but so are these

keys These keys are like in different

locations Like there's a key here So if

I turn this key the lights go down And

if I turn the key this

way the lights come back on What's great

about the room is all the hidden doors

and the hidden mini bar Ladies and

gentlemen I give you Oh no That's the

Hang on That's the wardrobe The mini bar

is here I thought it spread out over two

Look at that Very elegant indeed What

have we got in there all the mini bar

stuff that you could imagine We've got

nuts pistachios some dried fruit some

chocolate Oh lint chocolate Wonder how

much the mints are The mints are six

euros Oh that's nice Wow Small bottles

of cognac there That's

€60 Love the way this is laid out The

Ritz little handkerchiefs there And then

the usual mini bar stuff We've got some

champagne some beer some Red Bull and

all of that And again for the price of

this room I would expect that to be well

at least half complimentary As always

I'll let you know the price in a little

bit I'm going to show you the bedroom in

a minute and the bathroom But first we

do have a balcony or a little mini one

anyway where we can stand out Oh Oh

god What i did not All I did was

literally undo this and this just

come I better put this back in I think

this has been happened before though cuz

you can see it But this one's loose as

well So we don't have the best view

because the best view would be obviously

at the front of the hotel but this is

pretty nice Look at the balconies Look

at these beautiful flowers Even though

the room is quite expensive we don't

have a premium view However that being

said the front of the hotel is quite

noisy So actually this is uh this is

nice being out here overlooking the

restaurant I think Um it's nice and

quiet There's a little park down there

Is it a little park down there or is

that somebody's house i think it might

be somebody's house But yeah it's just

nice to have a balcony really We've got

a balcony uh in the bedroom too I'm

going to leave these doors open a little

bit to let some fresh air in here Okay

let's check out the bedroom because this

is really nice We've got Casper with us

So they've they've put a little bed on

the end Look at this though What they've

done for him Isn't that cute a little

Ritz teddy

cards and there's a little sticker book

And look at that a little

got to talk about is this This is the TV

but it looks like it's what do they call

it where some where someone's doing a a

painting I forgot what they call it But

this is so nice I've never seen a TV

stand that looks like someone's painting

least screwed in So we can open that

window to let some fresh air in And then

of course we've got the bed Do the bed

and having this really old-fashioned

lighting Look at that for the

lamp Beautiful furniture If you've been

watching the channel for a while you'll

know that I have just a little bit of a

phobia about bed bugs because I've had

some bad experiences Now obviously

coming to Paris after what happened a

couple of years a couple of years ago uh

and the whole bed bug explosion uh to

say that I'm a little bit nervous is an

understatement So and this is the crazy

thing I did ask if they do mattress enc

casements And bearing in mind they've

had obviously not necessarily at this

hotel just disclaimer but in Paris

itself you know they've had an issue

with bed bugs but they don't do mattress

in case And I'm like wow you would have

thought after that you would So I'm I'm

nervously going to check the bed and the

mattress With a bed this size there's a

lot of checking because they get into

all these little creases and folds and

you kind of got to look everywhere But

I'll do a proper look later and if I do

find anything I'll let you know Of

course as you would

expect Yeah that's nice and comfy Love

the detailing on the cushions there I do

love a room that hides other rooms and

wardrobes within the walls like this has

done So in

here somewhere for your luggage and all

this is this is leather in here Very

nice Like that a lot And over

here we have the wardrobe They've got

one for Casper and one for Gabby Mine's

in the bathroom These are lovely These

are really nice Luxury and soft logo

branding is on point there As is

branding on the hangers Some posh

hangers in there Oh and we've got some

slippers as well

if to appear from nowhere The most

amazing thing about the bathrooms here

at the Ritz in Paris are the taps I'll

come to those in a second Branding is on

point Look at those beautiful colored

peach

towels Wow Look at that It's a It's a

swan isn't it how do you do no

that's comes out of its mouth

Just look at that red jewel for the hot

and the blue jewel for the cold Basic

toilet but look at the gold Continuing

Look at that So

polished to the point as well And

there's even some rich soap in here Up

the hallway There's a nice little light

there I don't think there's anything

else up here There's a random plug

socket just here though by the door But

you can never have too many plug sockets

right let's go in the bathroom because

although small this bathroom is just

beautiful Absolutely love the color

scheme though with the peach towels the

gold I mean just look at the just look

at the

taps Unlike anything I've ever seen

before Even the tissue box is gold Well

there was real gold but even the plugs

are gold Branding on the glasses as well

Those taps though they are so beautiful

Check out the squishy stool gold feet

gold bin Wow Actually reminds me of the

Burj Arab in Dubai All this gold a

little bit That is one impressive

tap Wonder if that is real gold They've

let it down with that though Love how

they got the shampoo the condition and

the bath salts on there as well But the

way the towels are laid out it's lovely

If I pull this the

maid or the

valet are they just there for show i'm

surely they don't work Or will someone

come to the door whilst you're in the

bath bull shower head Look at

that That is really nice Got a TV built

in there Look I love these lights Let's

go into the shower Oh very

nice Oh like the uplighting in there The

gold

continues but it's a pretty small shower

I mean I think I would go no more than

about three people maybe with one person

sitting down there Well apart from the

the odor in here that small little

problem with the door this is a very

nice room and the price definitely

reflects that I believe there's a pool

here Again I'll be checking out earlier

in the morning We'll go and check out

dinner And I've also got a little bit of

a surprise for Gabby tonight as it's her

birthday Happy birthday to

time we sing happy birthday bless him He

thinks it's for him Yay By the way um do

you agree about what I said about the

odor in the room it's not just me right

yeah I know I knew as soon as I walked

in Even though this is brand new carpet

it smells like when you can walk into a

room and there's like old carpet old

furniture old beds Smell weird Maybe

it's the upholstery I don't know

Dressing table where I can put my makeup

on Oh yeah Actually that's a good point

Where would you um

Is there a secret is there another

secret hidden door that I haven't known

about sit here but this is more like a

writing desk There's no mirror or

nothing So a Sorry darling I'm really

gutted for your birthday You probably

wanted to do your makeup and I like that

I've had it too good You have to do it

in the bathroom You maybe the smell that

we're thinking about is coming from the

chairs because as you pour this

down look at the crumbs the rubbish and

the cr that's in there I mean

that's that's pretty ming Now I know

you're probably saying "Oh well you

don't normally look in the crevices of

the chairs." Well they're bound to have

that on But again the price point of the

room I am quite surprised about you know

the Ritz Parish I thought they would

make sure that everything looks great

You know they could just stick a hoover

around there It's a Saturday night in

Paris It's going to be very busy And the

restaurant options well there's a couple

of restaurants actually in here Uh

there's a Michelin star restaurant and

there's a a bit more of a relaxed vibe

However there isn't overly a dress code

in that restaurant but we thought well

we're Paris we might as well dress up

And to be honest because it's Gabby's

birthday and you do look incredible as

always And you do too It's not about me

it's about you No one would guess that

she's 40 It's all right I bleep that So

you won't know Gabby's real age Although

you probably do actually if you follow

Gabby The hotel hallways are a bit like

a labyrinth I just got lost cuz I tried

to go and check out the swimming pool Um

it's extremely busy down there right now

so I can't really film that to be honest

So fingers crossed in the morning we

might go and check that out Probably

around about 6:00 in the morning Anyway

let's get you a birthday drink shall we

i'm up for that

You couldn't make it up right the amount

of times that we've had complimentary

champagne in a room and I've actually

never drunk it I've either been on my

own or when I've been with Gabby we've

been rushing around and then we've got

to get to dinner Um but time has worked

out that we actually have a little bit

of time in the room that we thought we'd

open some of Gabby's cards and presents

And then could you believe it obviously

we don't have anything The only thing

we've got complimentary to drink in here

is some water But because it's Gabby's

birthday I thought I would stupidly pay

for this

€95 I think Bro €95 for that Yeah I know

And I'm the one that always go on about

the mini bar prices but it's my wife's

birthday And you'd have rather have had

the money Do you know what it will still

be cheaper than I think going downstairs

having a drink So but we are going to

have a drink downstairs But you know so

the worst thing has happened right it's

Gabby's birthday and I was speaking to

the concierge over email and I arranged

to get a birthday cake for Gabby's

birthday Somebody just knocked on the

door It was room service And they said

"We've got your birthday cake here."

Really loud So which Gabby heard And

basically I booked a birthday cake I

think I've spent about €50 on it And

they said "Which cake would you like?"

And I said "Just a cake that looks

great." They have given us

this which is a flan But then I've

realized and they've realized that this

is not the cake But this is a cake that

they give complimentary for people how

celebrating a birthday

So that's great But what's not great is

that now Gabby knows about

the birthday cake surprise that's coming

later So can you just pretend that this

didn't happen no worries I'm a good

actress I erase it from your

memory Someone at the door So you kind

of get lost trying to find where dinner

is which we are thinking it's down here

Can I just

get a shot of the birthday girl in her

lovely flowing black dress oh I love

this dress Look at that How elegant you

are Sleep in this dress tonight You want

to go to sleep in it yeah cuz it's so

lush And the thing is when you have an

elegant dress you only ever wear it for

one occasion You can't wear it again So

what do you think to the hotel then so

far well um the hotel itself it's very

royal It's very pretty very beautiful

Disappointed there was no longer mirror

in the room I couldn't tell what I

looked like

I also forgot to mention that there is

no kettle in the room There is in the

room is there no there wasn't in London

either No there is no kettle in the room

So we can't have a cup of tea in the

morning So may you maybe you order room

service for a cup of tea which will

probably be ridiculously expensive You

do well in London that was the case and

it was from what I can remember £12 for

a cup of tea Oh yeah I I think I think

you might be right

So this becomes a champagne bar this

time of night which

is a place we could have a drink It's

very nice But there's a gallery we need

to go and check out I swear to God I

just saw a cheering What i swear to God

what is it with all these posh hotels

with the upsell of like fine jewelry and

stuff like that like I think that's

stuff like that I wouldn't even know

that was jewelry when I walked past Tell

me is this a bracelet must be right That

was a snake Now how many of you in the

chat actually buy jewelry from these

cabinets let us know There's no price is

there as always that is a nice dress

Very Madonna Wow I didn't know this was

all here Oh it's like a

shopping arcade but like with really

expensive brands I reckon this dress

should be in one of these cabinets You

know when they said a gallery I thought

they meant an art gallery I didn't know

they meant this kind of gallery You

wouldn't wear that would you what's that

a bit of metal

Some nice bags though I'd like that Do

you know what i could buy that yellow

bag and have nothing for it to go with

oh yeah I was like one of them olden day

potties cuz they were all like pottery

kind of things weren't they yeah In the

olden days they also had pottery hold

water bottles How do you go to bed with

one of those this is great If you like

shopping this is fabulous

So we haven't got reservations here cuz

it was fully booked So this is as much

as we can see really There is a bar

What's with the seats i mean that's like

a thick extra cushion on there And the

funny thing is I saw it earlier and I

thought can I actually sit on that or

have they pulled the back of the cushion

that's what I thought But when you sit

on it you'll realize you can sit on it

Oh yeah That is so cushiony Hello We've

got a reservation here

I've never been in a restaurant where

you sit on chairs quite like this They

are like Well they're like comfy lounge

chairs

aren't they mercy They've just given me

the wine list which is an actual book

It's an actual hard copy

book How much wine

champagne Wow Some of it is just like

insanely expensive

Oh my god look at the size of the

freaking olives And they're so shiny as

well What do they taste like they taste

like normal olives What or they like

super amazing olives cuz they're super

big Why don't you try one okay Put one

on your plate

I don't know if they're going to have

yeah I've just tasted one of these

olives and they are the most beautiful

olives I've ever tried in my life

They are so smooth It sounds weird to

say smooth but they're really nice I

thought an olive was an olive They're

By the way can we just appreciate the

mean branding is everywhere The

knife the glasses The glasses are so

They're not on the forks though Is that

the honey oh it's really nice

Mhm That's going to fill you up is it

it's like a cake It actually tastes like

a quason with a little bit of honey and

a little bit of salt and a little bit of

spice That is so nice It's really light

It's really nice isn't it gabby went for

I think it was gambber spaghetti seafood

and rich spaghetti tomato sauce I went

for the chicken with a lovely juice and

uh I think that's mashed

potato

with chestnuts and squash It's weird if

we have to compare this to the Ritz in

London It's a completely different vibe

altogether Yeah it really is actually It

feels more Mediterranean which is weird

to say More relaxed as well Yeah it does

It does actually Yeah

Wow I've never had chicken like that

before Is it good do you know what i

wish I could cook chicken like that Just

look at that That is just amazing It's

just melts in your mouth

So this is the cake that we were

supposed to get

I feel so sorry for that guy All he does

is hoover that carpet consider No he

does all day I was here earlier today

That's all he does is hoover that carpet

That carpet needs people are in and out

Hoovered at some point because it

doesn't look good have a hoover there

all day Worn out was it so the lights on

the Eiffel Tower stopped flashing at

11:00 at night Um I did ask them to

bring the cake out like 20 minutes

before they did and I had to keep going

up to them and say "Can you bring out

please cuz I want to take my wife to see

the Eiffel Tower for it." That was a

little bit rushed Communication at this

hotel seems a little bit lax Yeah for a

lot of reasons But anyway let's hope we

can get there Well we've made it with 4

minutes to go before

11:00 with the last twinkles of the

Eiffel Tower Did you like your birthday

cake you saw it for like a split second

and then we had to kind of absorbed what

it looked like absorbed Well we'll look

at it again when we get back Let's see

how accurate this is Right 10 9 8 7 6 5

4 3 2 1 Oh my god it's so accurate Wow

Isn't it a shame that it only does it

once every hour just for five minutes

but this was probably the best advantage

point we could get to from the Ritz

Paris I know on camera it doesn't look

that close but it is actually quite

close from here

here There's a

bar Let's get in

Oh it's so nice By the way if you're

wondering how I can film in

here no one else is in here because it's

like half past 6:00 in the morning So I

might as well make the most of

it You will never see the rits this

quiet in the morning

Just by reception this is where the tea

and coffee is then Complimentary style

Money can't buy these takeaway coffee

cups Look at that That's so

cool Coffee Ooh I found a little coffee

station downstairs Nice Did you have to

pay like €12 no these are free Oh wow

That's good I know right come on in then

Thanks Right So they don't have a a

coffee machine or a kettle in the room

but at least they do offer this And I

found out that I can ask Concage and

they can bring a kettle up and tea bags

and I think sache coffee for no extra

The size of the men

You look very elegant with your beads on

today Show everyone your pearls I would

feel very proud These beads are um in

memory of my grandma I think she'd be

proud that I was wearing them at the

roots for breakfast

Look at this room though It is

gorgeous

Possibly the weirdest way I've ever had

breakfast served to me So I've got eggs

I've got sausage I've got bacon and I've

got cheese all on separate plates

Gabby's got mushrooms spinach and

poached eggs all on separate plates All

on separate plates Is this how they do

it in France breakfast was a little bit

disappointing It didn't taste overly

that great Um my toast was and I'm not

going crazy it was stale right it was

pretty tough Yeah it was like eating

cardboard Gabby found it difficult to

eat her breakfast because it was all in

bowls So she had her poached eggs in a

bowl She had the mushrooms in a bowl I

mean I I had mine all on plates so I

guess it was a bit more easier to

maneuver but you were kind of going to

each plate When you need to cut things

up it's a little bit hard eating your

breakfast from a small bowl It would

have cost €75 each um if we hadn't got

it included in the room rate which I'll

come to in just a second included in the

breakfast menu you also get like a fruit

bowl as well Um I found that quite

disappointing cuz when I think of fruit

bowls especially in like a highass hotel

I expect raspberries um blueberries

blackberries you know that sort of thing

Only I got very finely chopped apple

some very tiny tiny pieces of kiwi fruit

and some lemon and melon caked in water

So it was almost like a tin had been

opened and poured in as it was really

watery Let's talk about the room The

room was beautiful It really was And it

was like everything I can imagine what

the Ritz Paris to be like Yeah When you

walk towards the room through the

corridors through the hallways it smells

lovely And then it hit you as soon as

you walked into our room the smell stops

And it was this fusty musty not very

nice smell Now I know you're thinking a

musty smell is a musty smell but it was

like a dirty musty smell I'm saying the

room was dirty but I think maybe it was

just some of the furniture in there as

we could see that there was quite a lot

of crumbs down The carpets No the carpet

looked new We did find out though that

the um for some odd reason though the

toilet didn't smell very fresh Like as

soon as you walked into the toilet as

you open the door you could smell the

drains which was a little bit

disappointing Um mind you I've had that

in a couple of really nice I think I had

that in Monaco when I stayed um at the

hotel de Pari I was like "Yeah the

toilet you can smell the drain." The

Swan taps though can you get them

anywhere like in IKEA or something

because wow they are You can't get them

in IKEA but they were amazing They I

don't know whether that's real gold or

not Someone will tell me in the comments

Yeah I mean let's face it um the room

itself minus the smell and the mattress

enc casement was fit for a queen And to

be honest the smell kind of did subside

after we opened the doors a little bit

for a while and let the the let some

fresh air in pool area or the Ritz Club

as it's known Uh and the spa was wow

that was just so beautiful The only

thing I'm gutted about is we're here to

celebrate Gabby's birthday and um well

they kind of ruined the surprise for her

last night as they turned up to the room

with a complimentary birthday cake Was a

birthday flam And then I got confused

and thought that was the birthday cake

that I paid for later but it we we found

out that it wasn't But the surprise I

guess has already been ruined Oh I still

really liked it anyway And then the

actual birthday cake that came out that

cost just over €50 Was it worth the

price uh what's the word phory It was

really nice though It was different

wasn't it yeah it was really lovely One

of the things I was so shocked about was

I wasn't expecting to find some hair

straighteners that I could use in there

That's the first hotel I've ever stayed

in where usually there's a haird dryer

Never seen But there was nowhere for you

to get ready Like there wasn't a makeup

desk No I had to do it in the bathroom

which was a bit you know a bit cram at

time because even though we were in a

suite and it seemed it appeared to be

spacious Everybody needs to get into

that area So it's not great when you're

trying to get ready There was no kettle

in the room but they did bring one up Uh

there was complimentary tea and coffee

which nobody told us about I just

happened to find by chance So how much

did it cost for one night at the Ritz in

Paris this came to

€2,999 Obviously you're paying for the

brand the Ritz It's in a great location

I mean you can walk to the Eiffel Tower

within like 30 minutes Um and you're on

the Shondise and all the other part

sightseeing places of Paris you'd want

staying at the Ritz and you do fancy a

which we didn't realize because in the

past when we've been staying at a hotel

we just thought that we could randomly

just turn up and have and normally for

hotel guests like the Rits in London um

they'll find you a spot But but it was a

Saturday night They were really busy
