In this video, I'm going to show you how
to build a Shopify digital product store
from start to finish, even if you're a
complete beginner. We'll go through
everything, including configuring the
most important store settings, designing
your storefront, adding digital products
to Shopify, and setting up automatic
delivery. And if you don't have your own
digital products, I'll show you where
you can get highquality donefor you
digital products that you can legally
resell as your own. We'll also test the
checkout and digital delivery so you
know everything works before you go
live. After this video, you'll know
exactly how to build a fully functional
digital product store on Shopify. Are
you ready? Let's dive in. First thing we
need to do is head over to shopify.com.
Once you are there, click on pricing.
Now, there's the good news. Shopify
gives you a 3-day trial. And after that,
you get three months for just €1 or $1
per month. This is more than enough time
for you to set everything up, add your
products, and see how this works before
you commit any real money to this
platform. After those 3 months, you'll
need to choose one of these plans and
subscribe to them. For beginners, the
basic plan is more than enough. It has
everything you need to sell digital
products. With this basic plan, you can
create an online store with unlimited
products, connect your own custom
domain, or buy one through Shopify. And
Shopify will host your entire store, so
it's available worldwide. The main
difference between these plans are the
card rates. So these are transaction
fees after you make a sale. The more
expensive the plan, the lower the card
rates. But that's not important right
now because we are just starting out and
we haven't made any sale yet. So go
ahead and click on start for free. You
can sign up using your email address,
Google, Apple or Facebook. I'm going to
I'm going to create my password and
click create Shopify account. Now,
here's something important. Shopify will
ask you to enter your car details so
they can charge you once your 3-day
trial ends. The good news is you don't
have to do this right now. Just click on
skip and move on.
Now, Shopify will ask you a few
questions about your store. Where would
you like to sell? Obviously, we are
creating an online store. So, I'll
choose that.
Is this shop for new or existing
business? We are creating our new
business. So I'll select new business or idea.
idea.
What do you plan to sell? We are
planning to sell digital products as
this video suggests.
And what should we call your store? So
here you come up with your store name.
I'm creating a digital product based on
sales products. So I'm going to name it
like this, sales mastery 101. And I
click on finish.
Once that's done, Shopify will finish
setting up your store and drop you
straight into the dashboard. Now that
our store is kind of created, the first
thing we need to do is configure the
basic store settings. And that's what
we'll do next. So go ahead and click on settings.
settings.
This is where we take care of the basic
store configuration. And this part is
going to be very important. So make sure
to pay attention. Here we can see our
store name. We already set that up. So
there's nothing to change here. Next, we
have our email address. Uh, this email
is used for store notifications, system
messages, basic communication from
Shopify, uh, and for customer emails,
for customer communication. We'll set
that up later inside the notification
settings. So, you can leave it as it is,
no problem. Next up, billing address.
Uh, so if you have a registered
business, you can enter your business
details here. If you don't, that's not a
problem at all. You can use your home
address without any issues. And that
does not stop you from selling digital
products. So fill this in and we can
move on. Next, we have our currency
display. This controls the default
currency shown in your store. And let's
say I want to change it from euro to US
dollar. So I just click on these three
dots and click on change store currency.
So I select the US dollar. So now it's
going to be displayed in dollars. All my
products is going to be priced in this
currency. I click on save. And if you
want to control to which countries or
regions you want to sell to, you have to
go over to markets.
Now, by default, I'm only allowed to
sell only to my country. And we are
selling digital products. I want to sell
it worldwide because why not? I want to
reach the entire world and sell
everywhere wherever I can. So for this
case, I have to create a new market. So
we have shortcuts to create markets for
United States and Canada. You can also
create European Union market. But let's
say you want to create it the entire
world market. And for that you just
click on here create market. You can
name it something like worldwide to
include the countries you want to sell
to. You click on add condition
and you just select all the regions in
the world. So 257 countries selected and
we click done. So this allows us to sell
our digital products to the entire
world. and I click on save.
Now you might see a shipping wording
here, but since we are selling digital
products, we don't need shipping at all.
So we can just ignore this. I go back to
my markets. And now we can see we have
created the entire world market,
including 257 regions. So that's great.
We can move on with the rest of our settings.
settings.
Next, we have the backup region. Uh this
is just a fallback setting. I just leave
it as is. unit system. It doesn't matter
for digital products, we keep it like
that. And for the time zone, just choose
your time zone wherever you're based.
This is important. So your orders and
analytics show in the correct real time.
Order ID, we don't touch here anything.
Just keep it like that. Uh order
processing. This is uh important for
digital products. Under order
processing, make sure to set this up to
automatically fulfill the orders line
items. This is required because digital
products need to be delivered
immediately after payment without any
manual approval. This allows Shopify and
the digital downloads app to send the
file to the customer automatically. Also
automatically archive the order. Keep
this selected. This just keeps your
order list clean. So here we have
finished with our general store
settings. We click on save. And now
let's move on to the payment settings.
Now you will see this Shopify payments
banner. This is what Shopify uses to
handle your payments. This is very
important to complete. Without this you
won't be able to sell. So I click on
complete account setup. Here you can
choose you either individual, a company
or nonprofit organization. In this case
I'm an individual. I'll click on next.
Here we will have several stages. So, in
these stages, Shopify will ask you for
your personal details, uh, tax
information and bank account details for
payouts. Make sure to fill everything in
and enter your information correctly.
This is very important because Shopify
won't let you sell anything if
information is wrong. So, enter your
real details because without that, you
won't be able even to test your store.
So, I'll do that. I fill this in and
I'll move on. Now, I have completed my
Shopify payments part. I put my payout
account. Uh it took me around 10 minutes
to complete that. It's a bit annoying
part, but it has to be done and it has
to be done correctly. So once that's
done, you can also add additional
payment methods like PayPal. If you have
PayPal, I really recommend you to add
this one because it's really convenient
for your customers to buy. So you can do
that. And if you want any additional
payment methods, you can also add them
by clicking here. As for payment capture
method, make sure it's set to
automatically at checkout. So digital
products are paid for and delivered
immediately. Now here we don't have to
touch anything and this payment part is
completed. Next we go over to domains.
By default, Shopify gives you a store
URL using their subdomain. It works fine
for the moment, but it doesn't look very
professional. If you're serious about
selling digital products, having your
own domain makes your store look more
trustworthy, like www.youstore.com
instead of this. So you can either buy
domain elsewhere and connect it to
Shopify or you can buy one through the
Shopify. And if you don't have any
domain yet, I recommend you to buy one
through the Shopify. That makes the
whole integration much easier. And
domains are very cheap, like from $10 to
$20 a year, and they make a huge
difference when it comes to your store's
overall image. I'm not going to set up
my domain in this tutorial, but it's
very easy. Shopify has plenty of guides
on how to do that. Next important part
that we have to configure are the
checkout settings. The goal here is a
fast simple checkout for digital
products. First we have customer contact
method. So this is the method you will
use to communicate to your customers
about their orders. I don't feel I need
to send any text messages to their
phones. I think email is enough. So I'm
going to only choose email. Next we have
show a link for customers to track their
order. Since we are selling digital
products, there is nothing to track. No
shipping, no logistics. So I unselect
that. I don't require customers to
create an account to buy from me. So
make sure require customers to sign in
is unchecked. Under the customer
information, you can either only require
their last name or require both first
name and last name. I think it's more
professional to ask for both. Company
name, I don't include. Address line two,
I don't include because we are not
delivering anything to their doors. We
are selling digital products. and
shipping address. Phone number I also
don't include because we are not
shipping anything. For marketing
options, I leave email or SMS signup
unchecked for now. We can enable this
later on if we like. So, so this part is
completed. We hit save. Next, we have
notification settings. And this is the
last part. Here we can see the email
Shopify will use to send order
confirmations and download links. Using
a Gmail address for now is fine to
start, but once you have your own
domain, it's a good idea to use a
professional email like support@you
website, yourstore.com. It just looks
more trustworthy, you know. So once you
have your own domain set up, make sure
to come back to this part and put in
your professional email address. So
that's done with our configuration
settings. Now we are going to edit our
storefront. So from this window, you can
edit your store visually. Here we can
see that our store is set to horizontal
theme. That's by default. We can see how
this looks like by clicking preview.
Here it is. I'm pretty happy how it
looks like. I think this team could do
the work. It's very simple,
minimalistic, and that's what you need
to start. If you're not happy with this
theme, you can come back here and
explore other team options by clicking
visit theme store. There you can find
plenty of themes. The majority of them
are paid ones, but there also are 24
free themes, so you can take your time
to browse in case you find something nice.
nice.
Now, to customize your store, you just
click on edit theme.
Shopify design editor is very intuitive
and easy to use. If you just spend a
little bit of time here, you can become
a professional very quickly. And that's
why I recommend Shopify to beginners.
It's very easy to use, very simple.
There's nothing complex about it. Now,
I'm going to share with you a brief
design methods to make your store look
better than it is right now. So, first
thing we want to do is to change this
hero banner. And to do that, we just
click on it. We close this window here.
Here on the right sidebar, you can see
you can add images onto your hero
banner. You can either upload image or
explore free imagery from Shopify. I'll
do free images and I'll type something
like sales.
I like this one over here and I click on it.
it.
I click on select.
Now it's applied. And let's say I want
to add another image. And to do that I
come back over here. I also explore free
images. And in this time I type
something like money. Here it is. I
click select. Now we have nice two
images laid out by each other. Next
thing we want to do is to change our
hero text. To do that, I just click on
it. And here on the sidebar, I just
replace the text. I put something like
sales training and digital resources.
Let's say you want to make it bigger. So
instead of heading two, you make this
big bigger. I might select heading one.
Here is And if you want to make it
smaller, you just do something like
heading four or heading five. Heading
one looks good. Looks impactful. I'm
going to keep it like this. Now, maybe I
want to change the background color to
make it appear more clear. I switch this
on. And I select my background color.
Maybe I want to make it green.
And to reduce your background opacity
and make it a bit transparent, we slide
There we go. And also I want to add a
little bit of padding to the sides of my
text to give it some breathing space. So
I'll do 10 everywhere.
So this is what we have so far. And this
shop all button since we have only a few
products that will be visible on our
homepage. We don't really need this shop
all button. So I just hover over this
and click the bin icon to get rid of
that. So here we go. We have our hero
section looking much better right now.
Now, below the hero section, you'll see
this product collection block. This is
where Shopify automatically displays
your products on the homepage. I'm kind
of happy how it looks like, but I want
to add one more section to make one
product stand out. So, let's say you
have a featured product. Maybe you have
one main product and other products are
going to be complimentary products. So,
you may want to consider adding a
featured product section to put the
spotlight on one product. So, to do
that, we go over to add section on the
left sidebar and I type in featured
product. Here we go.
So, this is going to be our main product
Here it is. Now all the product details
like titles, price, images, description,
files and delivery all edited in the
back end inside the product section and
not here in the theme editor. This
section is only responsible for
displaying the product on the homepage.
So we don't touch anything designwise
here. And this keeps your store simple
and flexible. Once we add our digital
products from the back end, it will
automatically show up here without any
extra work. So once the structure of our
store is ready and it's kind of ready,
we keep it simple here. It's time to add
digital products. Now if you already
have your digital products and you're
happy with them, that's great. You can
skip this step. But if you don't, I
promised I'm going to show you a smart
shortcut where you can get done for you
products. So you don't have to create
anything and you can have ready to sell
digital products in no time. So this
shortcut is using private labor rights
products. These are readym made digital
products that you can legally edit,
rebrand and resell as your own. And one
of the best places to get such products
is Entropedia. Entropedia is a done for
you digital product platform. They have
over 8,000 readym made digital products
that you can simply use as your own. You
don't have to create anything from
scratch. Just download whatever you like
from their library and it's yours. The
best part with my link in the
description, you can download one
product completely for free. Once you
sign up and you're inside the dashboard,
you can filter products by the
categories. They have plenty of products
on business, digital marketing, sales,
lead generation, mindset, productivity,
and many other topics. My topic is
sales, so I'm going to go for that. And
you can also conveniently filter
products by the format. They have books,
listicles, checklists, notion templates,
mini courses, guides, audios, etc. So,
I'm going to go for free Anropedia
products. The first one is confidently
close every call workbook. The second
one is 13 sales moves that make you a
top closer. This is a listical. And the
third one is the sales growth engine
which is an audio course. Okay. And this
is going to be my main product. And
these two are going to be my
complimentary products. Now, I'll go
ahead and download every single one of
them. Now my products have downloaded
and I want to show you how one of these
products look from the inside. So every
product comes in a zip file. Inside we
have a word document that you can edit
in any way you want including changing
the titles, putting your name on it or
editing the body content. I have a
separate video on how to edit and
rebrand these products. I'll leave it
below in the description. Then we have
readym made cover files. And lastly, we
have a PDF file which is ready to sell.
Let's open this up. Here it is. Nice cover.
cover.
Let's run this through.
As you can see, this is really high
quality stuff here. Everything is
properly formatted, welldesigned, and
practical. It doesn't look like AI
generated content at all. Someone
definitely was sitting there for hours
and creating everything for us that we
can use as our own. This workbook is
meant to be printed and worked through
and you can definitely sell this for a
nice profit. It's really great stuff.
Before we leave Anchropedia, I want to
quickly mention that they also have nice
tools that you can use like product
mockup templates to showcase your
products in a nice way. Nice book cover
templates which you can use inside Canva
to edit your covers. We have PDF
rebrander tool, AI product description
generator, product idea generator, and
book title generator. I'm not going to
go through these here, but I have a
separate video that covers this in
detail. I'll link that below in the
description. As for pricing, Enripedia
is onetime payment platform which is
amazing if you want to sell digital
products on volume. They have two
lifetime plans. One is $97 and another
one is $147 onetime payment if you just
want to try it first. Again, I have a
link below that gives you one free
download. And if you decide to join this
platform, you can use my discount code
for the 10% off. And finally, if
Entropedia doesn't cover your niche, you
may also want to check out PLRME. These
guys offer done for you digital products
as well, but they are more focused on
coaching, health, self-development,
dating, personal growth, and other
similar topics. Again, very high quality
stuff here. I'll also leave a link below
where you can get free credits to
download some products for free, so make
sure to check it out. This is a really
nice platform, too. Now that we have our
digital products ready, it's time to
prepare them for upload into Shopify. If
your product is just a single PDF like
basically we have here, you can upload
it as is and you are done. But if your
product includes multiple files, bonuses
or extra documents, zipping everything
together makes delivery cleaner and more
professional. Optionally, you can add a
simple license or readme file. This just
tells customers what they can do with
your product and what is not allowed.
I'll quickly create one. So, I'll do a
note file. I'll name it license and I'll
paste in my product terms.
Here we go. Now I zip this together with
my PDF file. I'll select them both and
compress it. So here's my zip file. It
includes a PDF and license file. Again,
in terms of license file, you don't have
to do this. Completely optional. Just to
make it look more professional. And we
also have a book cover image. This will
be used as the product image inside
Shopify. I'm going to do the same for
the rest of my products. And once we are
done, we can add our products to the
Shopify. So, we head back to the Shopify
dashboard. We click on products. Then,
we click on add product. First, we enter
our product title. Next, we have a
description. This is not sales copy,
just a clear explanation of what the
product is. I paste in my description.
Tidied this up a little bit. This covers
what the product does, who is it for,
and how it's used. We can always change
this later, so no need to overthink it
now. Next, we have media. So, we add a
product image. This is what will show on
the product page and homepage. So, you
just add your cover image. Here we go.
As for the category, Shopify
automatically sets this as book, which
is perfectly fine for digital products.
Now, I set the price. We do no
discounts, no pricing strategy yet. We
just need a working product. This will
be priced at $19.99. Scrolling down to
inventory. For digital products,
inventory does not matter, so I turn the
inventory tracking off. Under shipping,
I turn off physical product. This tells
Shopify this is a digital product and no
shipping is required. Category meta
fields. You can play around with that if
you wish. So, I don't find this important.
important.
Search engine listing. And this is how
search engines like Google will display
your product. I leave it as is. That's
perfectly fine. And here on the right
side, we make sure that our status is
active and make sure that our product is
published on our online store. And
that's pretty much it. So everything is
done. I click on save and I do the rest
of my products. Now that I have created
my all free products, they exist in
Shopify and they can be purchased. But
what's important, they do not deliver
any files yet. Next, we are going to
connect the files so the customers can
download them automatically after the
purchase. This is where the store
actually becomes functional. So, the
next step is automatic digital delivery.
To connect the files to our digital
products, we use Shopify's free digital
downloads app. To do that, I go to apps
on the left corner here. The search bar
pops up and I type in digital downloads.
This is a free app by Shopify. So I
Now I can see that my app is installed.
We can add our digital files. And this
is where you add your download file,
actual product. So you click on add
files. And here we just locate our
download file.
The file is uploaded. And now Shopify
automatically links it to the product.
That's it. There's no coding, no
automations to build, no email setup is
required. When a customer buys this
product, Shopify confirms the payment
and the digital downloads app
automatically sends the file. And now
you just repeat the process for all of
your products. And make sure you click
on save.
Now, before we move to the last phase,
which is a testing phase, I quickly want
to touch on the stores homepage. This is
how it looks so far. We can see we have
our products listed down below here. And
here we have our featured product
section which is empty. Again, this
featured product section is completely
optional. But if you want to place a
certain product on the spotlight, here's
how you do it. We select the entire
section here. And on the right corner,
we can easily select the product we want
to display. So, we click on select. And
I want to showcase this product. And
that's it. Very easy. And we click on
save. So, right now the store is set up
and it's time to test our store to make
sure customers can actually buy our
products. This is the part most
beginners are confused about. So, I'll
show you exactly how to do it. Shopify
allows you to place a test order so we
can see the full checkout and delivery
flow without charging a real card. To do
that, I exit the team editor. I head
over to settings. I go to payments. And
here on the Shopify payments bar, I
click on manage. I scroll down here and
here we can see I can enable the test
mode. So I switch this on and I click
save. Now once I'm in the dashboard
again, I head over to online store and
we can see this little eye icon. This
allows us to preview our store. So I
click on that and let's make the
transaction. Let's test this out. So for
example, I want to purchase this product
here. I click on it. It lets me buy with
shop. But if I want to test this
properly, I need to enter some car
details. So, I select more payment options.
At checkout, I put my email address just
like a real customer would. For payment
details, I use Shopify test card
information. Now, where do you find
this? Shopify has a guide. I'll leave
the link to this guide in the
description. They provide the card
details which you can use on the test
mode. So, I'll copy Visa card
information here. I place it here. As
for the expiration date, security code
or name on the card, you can use
whatever you like. You can make this up.
And for the billing address, you can use
your own address, any address you like.
It doesn't really matter. So, once you
fill everything in, you can click on pay now
now
and your test order is processed. Now,
it says you will receive a confirmation
email soon. That means Shopify will send
you an email with a link to download
your product. Let's quickly check how it
looks like. So, here it is. We got email
from our store. Hey digital products,
thank you for your purchase. Here are
your downloads. You can customize your
thank you page, your email in Shopify
settings. But this is just a proof that
everything works fine. And now we can
click this link and our download is
started. So everything works fine. Now
once the testing is done, I go back to
settings, payments, manage, and I make
sure the test mode is turned off. It's
very important. Do not forget to do
that. Otherwise, your customers won't be
able to pay. So, that's very important
step. So, this is it guys. Our store is
live. There's no need to publish
anything. Additionally, everything is
live and you can now start marketing
your store and take orders. I really
hope this tutorial made things clear for
you. And now you are confident in
building a Shopify store and selling
your digital products. Again, if you
don't have any product to sell, make
sure to check out Entropedia or PLR for
highquality done for you products that
you can sell as your own without
creating anything. These platforms
provide really great stuff and I leave
links to these platforms so you can get
something for free. And yeah, that was
it. Thank you for watching. I hope you
find this video helpful. And if you did,
I appreciate if you like this video and
subscribe to my channel. And if you have
any questions, feel free to drop them
down in the comments. I will answer
everything or at least I'll do my best
to do that. Thanks for watching again
