I want to bring to you the best sample
chopping plugin to ever exist. [music]
All right, I can say this confidently
because I made it myself 100% from
scratch and it was definitely crafted
with care. So, just give me a little bit
of time and I think you're going to love it.
it.
All right, guys. This plugin is called FlipCraft
FlipCraft
and it's packed with a ton of features.
I'm talking about state-of-the-art stem
separation, state-of-the-art real-time
pitch shifting and time stretching.
You're not going to find higher quality
stem separation in a plugin outside of Flipcraft.
Flipcraft.
If I were to list out all the details,
all the features, and really go into
them, this would be like a movie. So,
what I'm going to do is have a bunch of
other videos in this playlist for each
of the features, but this video will
just be a highle overview. All right.
All right. So, the first thing we're
going to want to do is load a sample.
So, there's two ways to do that. You can
hit this vinyl record up here and load
it this way, or you can just drag and drop.
drop.
All right. So, now with the sample
loaded, we can listen to it by pressing
If I right click the play button, we can
play it backward. So, I'm going to right
All right. And we can also audition
anywhere along this waveform by right clicking.
We can zoom in by scrolling.
All right. So now we want to chop the
sample up. So I'm going to zoom in and
find the part where I want to start chopping.
All right. So, now that my Q marker is
lined up with that point, I'm just going
to hit this chop button, right? And just
>> And then I'll hit that chop button
again. And let's listen to what we have.
Let me move this mic over a little bit. All right.
All right. So, you can't really go
wrong. It's kind of like cheating. I
want to actually take the vocals out and
I want to I want to pitch it up a little
>> [music]
>> Yeah, I'm just hitting random keys, but
this can get addictive. Like, highly
addictive. All right, so
now we got 32 chops in here that we
place manually. But there's an even
lazier way to chop. All right, we'll put
the chop button back on and then just
hit this little die right here and it'll
just chop it up for us randomly, but but
not that random, right? So, all these
chops, they're aligned to a beat grid.
So, our chops are placed on these
intervals so they just kind of
automatically sound good wherever they
All right, I'm going to take this off.
And then we have yet another way to chop
where we can use this start and this
step parameter. Right, so
basically start is what beat do you want
to start chopping at? Right, so we'll
just start at the first beat, which is
beat zero. And then step is what how
many beats u make up the interval
between each successive chop. So I'll
put it up to one step. So we're chopping
on each beat. If we want to do every
other beat, we'll put the step up to
two. All right. And then if we want to
just shift all of these chops over,
we'll just move the start around. All right.
right.
And if you have a really long song
and you want to go faster, you could
just hold control.
All right. Or maybe command on on Mac.
And yeah,
those are three ways to chop. And then a
fourth way is you can just manually
move your your slices around, right?
You don't need to be in chop mode for
that. You just need to hit the pad that
you want to move the slice around for.
So let's say I want to move slice A1.
I'll hit pad A1.
All right. And then I'll move this around.
around.
Now you can actually separate these
slices so that they become region slices
instead of point slices.
So just drag this left and now they're separated.
separated.
Or you could drag the bottom handle
right and playback will be within that
All right. Let's zoom in here.
We can reverse playback and play from
Right.
So that's kind of the basics of
chopping. And then we do have this
shortcut here. Wherever you see this Q
marker, if you click it, then it will
summon the currently selected slice to
that position. Like that. All right,
let's talk about this control panel in
the middle here. It's divided into three
sections. The top has the deck
parameters, so they control the overall
sound. The bottom has the pad
parameters, so they control the selected
pad. And the selected pad is shown in
this middle section here. And we can see
that that's A1 currently.
All right. So, um, let's see what that
>> is my skin. [music]
>> I'm a record [music] scratch.
>> Yeah, I just tried to showcase a bunch
of what you could do without talking.
You'll see sometimes I hit this little
button here. That's the panic button
that just stops all the sound.
So, when you're chopping this waveform
view can get kind of messy. So you can
use this focus button to just focus on
the selected slice.
If you hit split, it'll split the track
into the stereo channels. So you can see
the left on the top and the right on the bottom.
bottom.
If you enable tracking, then let's say I
want to trigger pad A1, but I'm all the
tracking brings that slice into view
All right, so we'll turn that off. We
saw beats already. Um,
snap basically allows you to snap to
those beats. So, let's say I want to
move A12 around, but I want to move it
around on beat. I would enable snap and
when I move it, it's going to snap
to the next beat.
And we can see those with this beats button.
And it also affects our rightclick
audition. So when I right click on the
waveform, it's going to snap to that
beat. So if I click like in between
these two, but more closer to this one,
right, it gets that one. And if I'm
closer this side,
it goes there. So that's snap. Poly is
just polifany. Uh we briefly saw that.
All right. Up to 32 simultaneous voices.
That goes handinhand with the cut group.
So, if I assign
pad A1 to cut group one, well, it's
going to cut itself out now because it's
So, even though we're in poly, it's as
if we were in mono, but just for that
And each pad can be assigned a cut
group, right? We have from one all the
way up to 32. Or you could have none.
And if two pads are in the same cut
group, that means they'll cut each other
out. So they will never play simultaneously.
simultaneously.
Then we have the output bus, and that
allows you to basically put an a
different effect on each pad by routing
it out to a different bus in your doll.
I'll do a separate video on that because
it's different in each doll.
And then we saw the pad color down here,
right? It affects the pad, the slice,
and also the arc around the pad parameters.
All right.
Next, we'll talk about these logos up
here. They do the same thing. If you hit
the Flipcraft logo or the Mikey Audio
logo, they will both toggle the settings panel.
panel.
All right, I'll do a video where I go
into each one of these settings. Um, but
for now, just know that you can change
the theme of FlipCraft in the settings panel.
All right.
And you can save that right here. Uh
we'll talk about more in in the video
And we can also
resize this as much as we want
to make it bigger or smaller.
And there's a shortcut. By
right-clicking either one of these logos
or the resizer, we can get it back to
the default size.
If we hover over the track name, we can
see some information about it. So, we
have the duration here, 2 minutes and 44
seconds. We got the sample rate. We got
the number of channels. This is stereo,
so there's two channels. And we have a
tempo estimation. All right. So, this is
saying 78.8. So, you know, you know, 99%
of the times that that really means it's
just 79 BPM cuz you have to remember
this is an estimation. All right.
All right. So, we also have this dual
button. [clears throat] And when we hit
that, we enter dual mode. And that's
almost like opening a brand new instance
of the plugin.
You can go back or you can stay in dual
mode. And now you'll notice these
buttons A and B, right? A for deck A and
B for deck B. What this means is we
basically have like kind of a DJ setup
where we can load one sample on the left
deck and one sample on the right and mix
and match those chops. All right, guys.
That's about as much content as I want
to fit in this video. You can go to the
website mikey.audio audio and download
the free trial of FlipCraft right now.
And if you're watching this video right
now, I want to ask one favor. Please
share this video either on social media
or in a forum or just tell a friend. You
know, this is what I like to do. And I
have some more ideas that can only be
made possible if you guys just help me
out and share the video. And I
appreciate that. All right. And um in
the next videos I'm going to show some
more of what FlipCraft can do, including
uh hopefully you can see this
um hardware control.
See, I can pan and zoom.
I don't know if I'm in frame. And I can
move the slices around, you know. So,
we'll talk about all that and more in
the up upcoming videos. [snorts]
