I'm your HOPE. You're my HOPE. I'm J-HOPE!
What’s up, Disney+ Subscribers! This is j-hope with <j-hope IN THE BOX>. You may not know, it’s been 10 years anniversary for me!
[Surprised!] Wow!
So today, let’s have a time to update my profile while talking about various sides of me!
“j-hope’s rewriting my profile in 2023 version!” Yay!
[j-hope’s rewriting my profile in 2023 version]
Well, let’s begin, be quick!
I am not good at handwriting... though...
[Fill the blanks, vigorously]
[Shy]
Of course it is quite natural to write my own profile, but it seems quite difficult to me.
As writing my profile, it made me think like ‘Didn’t I not know myself this much?”
It made me think a lot, took time a lot and made me reconsider myself as well.
Anyways, it was pretty much fun.
Well, it’s been a while since I write this.
“j-hope’s rewriting my profile in 2023 version!”
Date of birth! I was born on February 18, 1994.
Nickname is "Hobi"! Yes, that’s right. A lot of you call me this.
Lots of my fans and staffs, too.
It’s from j-hope and its pronunciation and you guys call me “Hobi”. So that’s my nickname.
And I debuted as BTS on June 13, 2013 as j-hope of BTS.
My hobbies.(Playing football game)
Well, I couldn’t think of much, so I wrote it quite reluctantly.
In fact, I don’t enjoy playing games.
Then realized that I recently am into football game.
You know, World Cup just finished and while watching it, I felt like ‘It’s really exciting!’
As I play the game, I felt like I fell into football, like I became a fan.
As watching plays of the league, I feel like they are super cool or so.
Even when I played the game, I could emptying my head.
I am the person who has lots of thoughts but when I played the game, I am so into it, feel comfortable, and don’t think about anything.
Next, MBTI.
Well, I am not the type to take it seriously...
but when I tested recently, the result told me that I am INFJ, in general.
I am not confident the result though, I am type ‘J’ for sure.
When it comes to work, I tend to organize and make plan the things.
But when it comes to trip or so, I think I become the type ‘P’ since I work too tightly.
Anyways.
My habit. (Keep touching or fixing the sides.)
Since I was young, this sides has been stuck out very often.
So I’ve kept touching the sides of my hair since I was a student.
Whenever or where ever, like this or like that. Even with various ways, you know.
Using all my part of the hand to pressing my sides. So I guess that’s one of my habit.
The things that I say the most... (Oh, really?)
Well, I do react a lot.
When I am with my members or people, I react to the others, so I guess
I am saying “Oh, really?” a lot.
I think that’s growing into a habit.
I think that is one of expressions of showing interest to the others.
I say this a lot because I am really interested in someone that I know or meet.
I wouldn’t say it if I wasn’t interested.
Next, the word that I hear the most, is of course, ‘j-hope.’
Whenever I go, people around the world say to me ‘j-hope’ all the time, obviously.
And it’s quite natural thing.
My fans always shout my name out loud so how I can forget it?
And that’s my name.
The thing or item that symbolizes me.
I guess it is understandably, ‘Iced Americano’.
I always drink ‘Iced Americano’ no matter the weather.
It’s the beginning of my day and wakes me up all the time.
The color that symbolizes me. (Brown)
Well, in the past, especially when I just debuted, I thought I should picked something fierce,
such as neon or bright. And I do like the color of green too.
I chose the color that matched my images as much as possible.
Then I realized that my favorite color is brown.
It gives a mood of calm in general, I guess.
It makes you have a sense of relief. So I choose brownish clothes generally.
My favorite sentence!
Actually, I don’t know if there’s an idiom, it’s “Your effort never betrays you.”
I actually do a lot of effort.
No matter what, like no matter of working or practicing or meeting people... Even in this moment...
I think all my efforts that I tried to make has never betrayed myself.
For instance, my performance in Lollapalooza.
When I look back on the efforts that I spent a lot of time,
I conclude that all my efforts has ever betrayed me, in the end.
Next, my favorite place
I considered between home and studio among various spaces.
Is it home? Or Studio? I thought about it and eventually I chose my studio.
My studio. It’s emotionally difficult to me but also means a lot. It has all my traces.
And I think my studio is the one and only place in the world.
This is where I can only think of myself. ‘j-hope’ and ‘Jung Ho-seok.’ So I picked.
Next, the three things consist of happiness.
I actually thought a lot about this.
I think there are a lot of things that consist of happiness.
First of all, the health!
It’s the most important to everyone, we all have to be healthy.
And as I am being healthy, I can play or perform my music to you, and other things that related to my work.
The second is love as I said before. Love.
Whether love someone or be loved by someone. I think ‘love’ is the big part of consisting the happiness.
Without love, I think, we cannot enjoy the beauty of this world or smile.
All those feelings that we share come from those small part of love.
The last component is ‘work’.
This may be controversial, since we are always thinking like ‘I want to quit, oh, please, no more work, when can I get out of this?’ etc.
But I think I can fully enjoy my break since I work hard, I can feel the beauty of my break.
And I am not quite sure that I can enjoy taking a rest if I would not work.
Since I work hard, I think I can genuinely feel or take other things too.
Since I work, I can feel a sense of accomplishment, I can be motivated too.
In this way, I comprehensively made a conclusion that one of the component that makes happiness is work.
My hope.
Well, it’s just do my job as long as possible, happily. Do and make my music.
I guess my music can’t be left out in my life, no matter what part of it is.
Without music, my life is filled with strange silence. And I can’t stand it.
Music is something that connect people, that remove the awkwardness, and my music is also my job as well.
It’s something that I love for a long time.
I sometime feel like ‘isn’t it something I dreamt of?’
Next, my motto. This is what I always talked about.
‘Be thankful every moment.’ This is my motto.
I sometimes think like ‘What did I contribute to the world in previous life,
so that I could meet all these people, choose this job,
get such an excessive love and become a person who get attention in the world? This is still amazing!”
That’s why I remind of me that ‘let’s be thankful for this moment.
This is something that I cannot accomplish even if I born again.’
I always try to be grateful to the people around me and at this moment too.
In many ways, I am the person who is grateful and that makes me happy.
That makes me laugh. I think that’s really big.
No matter how I struggle or suffer,
I try to think that ‘how could I get such a huge love, this is grateful moment, I got lucky’ so on.
I try not to deny it.
Next thing is ‘The first title list as soloist.’
First of all, “Jack In The Box” album released, that was the most important thing,
and equally important part of my promotion was the ‘Lollapalooza’ performance.
In a way, the ‘Lollapalooza’ was a performance that I tried to overcome the limitation.
As the first soloist in BTS, I guess an hour-long performance was the first, and big step for me to lead the stage.
And I could made it, thankfully. I guess this is important part of me being soloist.
And from on it, it’s very meaningful for me to show you my documentary like this on Disney+.
This documentary has put all those live recording and other events so beautifully.
Personally, I think recording the moments are the most important thing in one’s life.
As the documentary released with full of my wonderful moments,
I think it means a lot to me in itself.
Also, I participated in MAMA as a soloist too.
Well, I have watched MAMA(Mnet Asian Music Awards) so many times since I was young.
The MAMA that I watched as kid, there were like incredible performances by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, etc. It was like the icon of fantastic performances!
MAMA is the award that I participated in it as BTS before, even won the grand prize.
Then I did my performance as a soloist in this time in that MAMA. That was such a huge opportunity to me. That’s why I wrote it.
Other than that, I recently had a stage live on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
As you know, this show is one of the most hugest ratings in the U.S. and a lot of people watch it.
To be on the show and performed as a soloist was quite meaningful to me, too.
As I mentioned, all those things were what BTS did, in a way.
Except for ‘Lollapalooza’, all those stages were what BTS had been, and in this time I participated those alone.
During the time, I learned, experienced and thought a lot.
Well, this is it.
I rewrote my profile in 2023 version, by myself!
As I filled those blanks, I felt like I learned a lot of things about myself that I didn’t even aware before. It was kind of interesting.
And I guess you may know something about me that you had not knew before. I hope you had a great time with me.
Then, see you all soon.
Bye!
