0:02 hey guys it's the record date I've got
0:04 another do-it-yourself project I'm gonna
0:06 show you how easy it is to install vinyl
0:16 flooring so I'm gonna lay vinyl flooring
0:19 in this laundry room and as you can see
0:22 they've got a few spots that need to be
0:23 fixed there's a couple of trouble spots
0:26 some water damage these spots need to be
0:29 fixed and repaired before it put down
0:31 the vinyl flooring so the first thing
0:33 you want to do is identify the spots to
0:36 repair so we can fix the subfloor before
0:39 you lay the underlayment then you want
0:40 to remove and cut away any loose
0:44 flooring so that the subfloor is nice
0:47 and solid then we'll start patching the
0:50 holes with this imploringly mud to make
0:53 sure that they are reinforced and nice
0:54 and solid
0:57 then those holes you can patch with the
1:01 plywood then you can start installing a
1:04 quarter inch underlayment to give the
1:07 surface a nice smooth surface before you
1:09 lay the vinyl down then you want to make
1:11 sure that you staple down the
1:14 underlayment staples about six inches
1:18 apart and then a lot closer on the seams
1:22 of unemployment make sure you use lots
1:26 of staples around any trouble spots and
1:28 then when you do the scenes you want to
1:31 make sure that your staples are one to
1:34 two inches apart this will ensure that
1:37 those seams will never curl up or come
1:43 so we're almost ready to install the
1:45 vinyl so just clean and sweep up all
1:49 debris and then you're ready to lay down
1:52 your vinyl flooring
1:55 you're gonna rough cut the vinyl about
1:57 two to three inches extra on the walls
2:00 that way if when you move down the floor
2:03 that moves a little bit you have extra
2:08 on the sides and it won't be short so
2:10 all you do is fold over one half and
2:15 I'll get ready to glue down the one half
2:18 you want to spread the glue out with
2:20 your trowel and make sure that the
2:23 trowel is ours at an angle so that it
2:25 gives you a nice thin layer and you
2:30 don't have any excess anywhere so
2:32 definitely make sure that you don't have
2:36 this much glue on the floor you want to
2:39 make sure they have a nice thin layer
2:42 okay the floor is ready to lay the vinyl
2:45 down and make sure when you roll your
2:47 vinyl out you don't get any wrinkles in
2:51 it as you roll it out pull it out nice
2:54 and easy that way it all goes down and
2:56 there's not going to be any big bubbles
3:05 for a small area like this you can just
3:06 use your hands that push out the bubbles
3:08 if you have a big area make sure you use
3:11 a roller when you're ready for the other
3:13 half just roll it back and expose it one
3:16 to two inches this is the amount of glue
3:18 that you need the spread at one time if
3:21 you use too much it gets kind of messy [Music]
3:23 [Music]
3:25 and all you're gonna do is just go back
3:28 and forth back and forth getting the
3:38 excess on the trowel as you go this side
3:40 can be laid down you know you're gonna
3:43 do is push out the bubbles just let the
3:44 cameras showing here you want to push
3:47 away from the center towards the walls
3:49 you don't have any bubbles in the middle
3:52 of the floor then you just want to
3:55 finish trimming out the edges that extra
3:57 two or three inches that you had on the
3:59 walls finish trimming that out nice and
4:03 close now all you have to do is cut and
4:05 install your base trim for this project
4:13 I hope this video helped you out with
4:15 your own do-it-yourself project thanks
4:18 for watching and I'll see you later [Music]
