And I want to start Kylian, because your story is a remarkable one.
Pierluigi Collina was going to be in this seat tonight night, and I was speaking to him.
He told me a story.
December 2014, he saw a 16 year old, Kylian Mbappé, over in Monaco, Monte Carlo.
Three and a half years later, 2018, you lift the FIFA World Cup.
What a journey.
What a story.
Talk to us about it.
Good evening, everyone.
It's a wonderful story.
It's my story.
I was already focused.
I had a dream to be professional player.
I watch a lot of players.
I watched Robert when I was young.
Yeah, he was already at the top.
I watch him, and now I'm one of them.
I'm one of the players that people watch.
I'm really proud, but I want to keep walking, to working every day, to stay humble and to
make the difference on the pitch, because it's what I want to be, and I want to do.
What motivates you,
what's the next step in the career of Kylian Mbappé?
To win again and again.
When you see the World football, you see there's a lot of great players.
If you sleep, someone will take your place.
And I just want to improve every year to see. I'm a lucky guy.
I play in a great team.
I play in a great national team, too.
The only way is to win.
To win, to be hungry, to win again and again.
And that's my mentality, I don't watch what I did in the past.
That's finished, it is in the past.
I never go back.
I'm turning for the future, and I want to win trophies, important trophies for my country
and my club.
Robert might disagree with this, but you undoubtedly are part of the greatest forward line in world
football.
Neymar on one side, Kylian Mbappé on the other.
And Lionel Messi.
Talk to us about Lionel.
He's come to Paris.
He's taking a bit of time to settle in.
What is he like as a man?
What is he like as a teammate?
Nice, he's a great teammate.
He's a normal teammate.
Of course he's a great footballer.
Everybody knows.
But he's a normal guy.
He's humble.
He want to work for the team, to help the team.
And I think it's the most important thing, because he's like me and all the guys in the
team.
We want to win, and we know what we have to do to win.
And he's a normal guy and a good teammate.
Did anything about him surprise you?
Kylian, can you maybe give us a little bit of an insight?
The first day at training, what was he like?
Did he do anything that wowed you on that first day?
It's difficult because everybody knows him.
You know the quality, but yeah, you can even be surprised because you see the quality.
Everything is natural with him.
He's a wonderful footballer.
He can do everything on the pitch, and it's a pleasure to have him with me at PSG.
What's been, I guess, the biggest sacrifice, when you look back on what you've achieved
so far for any young kids watching this, what has been the kind of biggest thing that you
would say that helped me more than anything else?
First of all, it's hard to leave the family.
I left the home at twelve.
It was hard because you have friends, you have habits, you play in your club and you
have to leave everything to achieve something maybe will never happen because when I left
the house at twelve, nobody knows if I will be a football player.
But for me, I never saw that like a sacrifice.
Because I am patient.
I'm always happy to go to training, to play football, to watch all the games at home.
It's more than a job.
It's not just I go to the job and I go home just to take the money.
No, I'm happy to do this and I do everything to be happy.
It's for that I work so hard every time.
And for the young guys, it's just if you have a dream, even if it's not football, if you
have a dream, you have to do everything you have in your energy to achieve that.
Because nobody will believe in you more than yourself.
And you have to believe because in the life you never know what can happen.
And you can live your dream like I do.
Who is Kylian's biggest supporter in life?
My biggest supporter?
Your biggest supporter, your biggest fan?
Me?
Great answer.
No, but my family, my family, they are always with me all the time since the beginning.
They are with me today too.
They are my first support.
And when you have bad moment and can happen when you are a football player, you don't
have only good moment.
Roberts know that better than me.
You need the family.
It's the first support.
When you go home, sometimes you are sad because you don't score, you don't win, you'll lose
some important title, important final, you need the family with you it's hard to be alone
in this type of situation and they are always with me and I want to say thanks to them.
Beautiful.
Thank you very much for that.
It's the biggest competition everybody knows, everybody dream about to play just
to play a World Cup.
So to win it, it was maybe my biggest achievement.
But it's like I said before, it's the past now we have another World Cup next year.
We have a good team, we are confident but humbled too.
And we have to try to try the back to back.
Why not?
First of all, we have to see in March the game, what happened with Robert.
We have the Italian guys here.
We're going to watch, and after we're going to see.
We're going to see what happens, because we are ready to fight, ready to defend our
title because we want to win again.
In football, everything can happen.
We were 3-1,
with 10 minutes to go.
We concede two goals after you go to the penalty.
I miss my penalty.
We go out and it is what it is.
The football is the eye level.
When you think you are the best, the football says to you: you are a liar.
You have to prove it on the pitch and I think it's a good lesson for us, for me, and it's
because of this...
That we are ready to fight for the World Cup next year.
I'm nobody to say for good or bad.
I mean...
But I give my opinion and my opinion is the world cup is the world cup.
It's a special thing because it's something every four years if you want to keep that special.
And you saw, like, I talk about it, people talk about it about the best thing, the best
competition in the world if you have it every two years, it can be start to be normal to
play World Cup.
And I want to say that's not normal.
That's something amazing, something maybe you play one time in your life.
And I agree with Robert when you talk about performance, we play like already 60 games
in the year.
You have the Euro, you have the World Cup, we have now the National League.
You have so many competitions and we are happy to play, but when it's too much, it's too much.
We have to recover.
We have to stay relaxed.
If people want to have quality in the game, if they just want to see some games, to see
on the TV.
Of course, we're going to play, but if they want to see quality game, to see emotion,
to see this type of thing that's make the beauty of the football, too.
I think we have to respect the health of the players.
Yeah, we can even not watch too.
If you're going to watch, you have the yellow card.
But I agree.
I agree with robots.
It's good, but depend the time you use it.
You have to use it well because sometimes you wait like seven minutes to see something.
I know it's a pressure for the referee and the referee is human, like everybody.
It's a big pressure for him,
when you have big games, 90 minutes, it's a penalty or not.
But for us too, it's a pressure.
But me, I'm for the VAR, but we have to use it well.
And I think to hear what they say.
It's good for us too.
But because sometimes we don't understand what happened and you have some frustration,
you go to the referee to say to the referee:
Yeah, what happened?
But if you know what happened, maybe you stay calm you say oh, the guy has the right decision,
shut up. It's like this but we have to adapt but it's just the start that started just
four or five years.
So we need time to adapt.
But it's a good thing, I think.
