[Brisket + Sirloin + Shrimp cut / One big plate of assorted Korean beef]
[Lettuce]
[Freshly reset grill for the new menu]
I’ll do it, I’ll do it.
No.
It’s thick, I should do it.
[What does that even mean?]
- Why does it have to be you because it’s thick? - You have to do it because it’s thick?
[Heavy / I’ll handle the heavy stuff] You do this one.
[Light / You handle the lighter stuff]
[Anyway, in this warm exchange of care]
[One thick sirloin]
[One plump shrimp cut]
[When it comes to heavy meat, leave it to the expert, Big Shownu]
It’s shrimp cut, shrimp cut.
The next keyword is “trainee,”
which we kind of mentioned earlier.
So what’s the difference between a trainee and a practice student?
[Tossed the question] What is it?
At JYP, the trainee system had
pre-trainees, trainees, and then projects, right?
Right.
So pre-trainees would learn the basic choreography.
[Shownu recalling his trainee days] It was like, how many years? Back when I was in middle or high school.
Once you passed the basics
then JYP would say
“I think this kid can be promoted to trainee.”
[Once you became a trainee] You’d start dorm life.
Yeah.
Or you’d begin learning actual choreography.
It was kind of like that.
But why am I the one explaining this?
[As he said] There are three levels.
Once you’re a trainee, you automatically join projects
but as a pre-trainee, if the company needed you
you could still get into a project.
As a trainee, you could also take whatever lessons you wanted.
[Oh, that’s nice]
And you’d also have to learn a language.
Japanese or Chinese.
Right, I did too.
[Shownu the trainee learned Chinese] I studied Chinese back then.
[Getting fuzzy on the memory] Hyunjin, were you a trainee too?
I was just
an ordinary citizen.
[Not mafia, just a citizen]
[A kind citizen who survived the night]
[Shownu’s trainee days]
Honestly, while I was at JYP Entertainment
even though my school days were short
what stuck with me was
they took the trainees
to watch the movie Avatar.
[Didn’t see that coming] And
I remember feeling really warm about that.
Really?
They took us to volunteer events
where we’d prepare a performance and dance on stage.
And for Christmas
- Party? - Yeah, party.
And for overseas kids
who couldn’t see their parents, they’d take us all
to a family restaurant so we could be together.
That felt really warm.
And even as trainees, we had psychological counseling
like therapy sessions.
I think there were a lot of unique kinds of education.
[The ordinary citizen’s next target: yuk sashimi]
[Dip deep into the sauce]
[Take a big bite]
[Pure bliss]
[Tender yuk sashimi brought to life]
[Spicy, nutty dipping sauce]
[Chan goes for the sauce this time too]
[BIg bite]
[That’s the taste]
[This time, a quick dip in salt]
[Chomp / a mouthful of nutty flavor]
[Then dip in sauce again for a reset]
[Enjoying it on an endless loop]
[Boosting the sashimi experience, the classic way]
[Big bite / one more bite]
[You need at least three chopsticks’ worth to complete it]
[Looking out for Jungwoo] - Can you reach the sashimi? - Yes.
[Stretch] Of course.
Jungwoo’s got long arms.
[Out of nowhere?]
[In charge of long proportions] We’ve got long ones too.
It’s my first time being told my arms are long.
Am I wrong?
[Just average for his build(?)] They’re just average.
[Dab in the sauce]
[Jungwoo, with slightly long arms, takes a bite too]
[Then goes right back in for another]
[Yuk sashimi on its own]
[Sauce on its own]
[Chomp / enjoying separately and together]
[Don’t forget to flip the sirloin]
[Golden brown]
[And once the shrimp cut is flipped too]
[It’s ready to eat]
[The taste-tester fairy returns / Bigh bite]
[Start with shrimp cut dipped in salt]
[Pair it with sirloin for a clean balance]
[This time, pile on the green onion salad]
[Big bite]
[A rising contender for best Hanwoo cut]
[The original champ sticks with shrimp cut]
[Top it with grilled kimchi]
[One big bite]
[Humming happily while grabbing lettuce]
[Place the sirloin gently]
[Add some green onion salad]
[A touch of ssamjang]
[Another big bite]
Bangchan, are you the crop top guy in Stray Kids?
Yeah, I did wear them a lot, really often.
I just wear whatever they put on me
but honestly, they’re comfortable.
He doesn’t like tucking shirts into pants.
That’s true.
He just says, “Cut it, please,” and they cut it.
You just hate having your shirt tucked into your pants?
Yeah.
But I get it, I kind of
- feel squeezed too. - Right.
When you tuck in a shirt
it inevitably comes loose when you move
and it makes your stomach look like it’s sticking out more.
[Displeased mood] - I really hate that. - Because it gets all wrinkly?
But since you’re in great shape, crop tops look really good
on you.
He indeed looks good.
I’ve seen Chan in crop tops a lot too.
Why were you seeing that?
You wore them out like that, so of course I saw.
Wear them later.
Let me have more turns first.
Okay.
- I’ll wear them this time too, though. - Really?
Then I’ll just avoid it that time.
Thanks.
Chan, you’re the leader of the team, right?
What kind of leader are you?
I think I’m simpler than people expect.
Instead of being the type who just drags everyone in the direction I want
I want to be more of a listening leader.
It might sound a little cheesy, but honestly, without these guys
I wouldn’t have been able to debut.
That’s true.
To me, they really feel like lifesavers.
Of course, my role is “leader,”
but I just want to be a good older brother to them
someone they can trust
and rely on.
Though saying this in front of them feels a little awkward.
It’s fine, keep going.
[I’ll just stay calm about it]
[I’ll be eating, so go ahead with your business]
Sometimes carrying the weight of being a leader must be heavy, right?
Not really, not at all.
The members do so well on their own
there’s nothing much I need to do.
If I say something now, it just feels like nagging.
And honestly, once I stopped hovering over everything
I actually felt more at ease.
Suddenly curious though
who’s the most generous with money in the team?
Generous?
Like who pays the most?
It’s definitely him.
Yeah, he spends the most on us.
He just showers us with it.
He really spends a lot of money on us.
For real?
I’m even using skincare treatments that he paid for.
[A skincare gift no one’s heard of (?)] - Skincare? - Seriously?
[Skincare flex] Yeah.
Which clinic is it?
I’ve been breaking out a lot lately.
[Suddenly butting in (?)]
Why are you suddenly flirting?
[Confused by this new kind of flirting]
Do they do laser treatments too?
They’re really good.
[Just joking] Can I go with you?
[I can do it for you] Of course.
But wow, that’s crazy.
He even pays for skincare?
Yeah, and once I finish a package, they even ask me
“Would you like to pay again?”
And I just say, “Please put it on Bangchan’s account again.”
So basically, I’m using the points Chan’s been stacking up.
So, where exactly is this clinic?
Is there a place out there with Bang Chan’s name hanging on the wall?
[Looks away] No, hyung.
Really?
[Too much curiosity is forbidden] I’ll send you the details separately.
I suddenly feel a bit hurt.
[Why all of a sudden?]
I have Changkyun’s and Jooheon’s numbers,
but I don’t have Shownu’s.
[Is this right?] Huh? What?
[Hmph] You didn’t even ask me.
[No way you don’t have it…]
The others were the ones who said first
[Searching for the contact] “Let’s exchange numbers.” That’s how it happened.
I’m really hurt.
I really don’t have it
I thought I did.
[Stopping mid-meal to exchange numbers on the spot]
[Making up for it with a beef brisket gift] Thanks.
[Saved] I sent it.
I’ll call you next time I go to the dermatologist.
[Always welcome] Sounds good.
Beef brisket is thin
so you just take it one piece at a time.
Yes.
[The moment it hits the grill, it instantly shrinks up]
[Brisket quickly grilled to perfection]
[The gifted brisket, straight into one bite]
[Pure, authentic taste]
[The rising beef champion delicately picks up a piece]
[Dips it in ssamjang and takes a bite]
[Finishes it off with grilled kimchi, the golden rule]
[Shownu, who had been diligently grilling meat]
[Dips his piece in simple, clean salt]
[Takes a big bite]
[Neutralizes the greasiness with green onion salad right away]
Now while eating brisket
[Shall we draw the last spoon?] should we go for the final keyword?
[Spiciness]
Spiciness?
[Everyone seems to get it right away]
We got an easy one at the end.
Spiciness!
[If you don’t know, memorize it]
You can’t leave out "spiciness" when describing SKZ.
[Q. What’s the vibe of the new song?] So how’s this comeback?
Is it a bit of that spiciness again?
Personally, I think this time it’s more like
an intoxicating taste.
Like a tipsy vibe.
[Lightweight drinker] A tipsy vibe?
[Like the buzz of a glass of champagne] Kind of like champagne.
[A party mood in full swing] Maybe it’s the party vibe
but it feels like being tipsy and having fun.
[If not spicy, then?] So you kind of loosened the intensity?
That’s not it.
Then what genre is it?
Bollywood, I think? Bollywood.
[A slightly unfamiliar genre] Bollywood?
Yeah, I took inspiration from Indian music and tried it out
Since it had a new kind of color
I really wanted to try.
Did you decide that among yourselves?
- Among just us, yes. - Like, “Let’s try this kind of thing”?
Our working system is pretty much
like this.
If there’s a certain vibe we have in mind, we get a track that matches it
or we listen through prepared tracks until one feels like “This is it.”
Sometimes while listening
you just go, “Oh, this kind of thing would be good”?
Exactly.
So when we heard this one
we were like, “Wait, this is Bollywood?”
“Have we ever done Bollywood before?”
“It’s good though, let’s give it a try.”
[A track that set their adventurous spirit on fire] And that’s how it came to be.
So usually, is it led by the 3RACHA members?
That’s right.
You gather the tracks?
Exactly.
And then you start working on them?
[Sourcing tracks and working on them] That's right.
[An album on another level] Chan said this album is one you put
unprecedented care into.
[Q. What should we watch for?] What should we watch for?
The studio album is
titled 'KARMA'.
Not garma, but karma.
[A joke that comes out of nowhere]
'KARMA' means consequences
and it carries the idea that all the effort and hardship
we've put in come back as good karma.
So we hold
a CEREMONY.
[A CEREMONY celebrating good karma] That's why the title track on our KARMA album is "CEREMONY."
[Q. A track you'd recommend from the album?] What's the song you recommend the most?
Honestly, they're all good, but
[Recommends "Half Time"] - I recommend a song called "Half Time." - Nice!
[Just like the title, the song has a twist] Because there's a twist!
I pick "Bleep," it's called "Bleep."
[It's a song themed around the censor "beep"] You know the censor beep? The beep! It's a song that centers on that.
It's a bit aggressive.
- It's a strong song. - Yeah.
[Carthatic lyrics] So it's really good, the lyrics feel cathartic.
I'm gonna bleep all of you.
Did something make you mad while working
and you put it into the album?
[Because it's a feeling someone, somewhere always has] Isn't it something you always feel somewhere, with someone? For us, with anyone, anywhere.
I think we absorbed things like that and wrote from there.
[Teacher, another question] But I wonder about this.
[When you pour your values into an album] if you pour your thoughts and experiences into an album
[Letting the public know everything about you] doesn't the idea of people knowing everything about you
make you a bit uneasy?
When we write, yes, sometimes it's from our experiences
but often the subject can
run dry.
[Through indirect experiences of those around us] I get a lot of inspiration from friends
other members, and fans.
[So sometimes we write from someone else's perspective] Sometimes we write from someone else's point of view.
[Intense agreement] - Ah, true. - So we share stories among ourselves as well.
[You have to refill your experiences] - You gotta 'input' by watching movies or talking with friends. - Exactly.
[I think that's perfectly fine] I think that's how we work.
[Q. Did the 3RACHA members produce this time, too?]This time as well, the 3RACHA members…?
[Of course] Yes!
[A deep realization] So that's how you can treat them to dermatology?
[So I never feel it's a waste to spend on the members] Right, so I have no hesitation about spending on the members.
[That's awesome]
I hope he makes a lot of money.
[Member perks that return what they earn(?)] So he can earn more and do even more?
[Last year on the members' birthdays] For everyone's birthday last year
I bought
[He bought brand-new phones for the whole team] brand-new iPhones for all the members.
[Wild]
Whoa seriously, what?
[This very phone]
[Jealous, huh?] - This one? - The one Chan bought!
[Flex you have to see to believe] - A 16 Pro? - Yeah.
[So jealous]
[Our team has Bang Chan] But the funny thing is
[Member-only gifting] it's really members only.
I don't do that for other people.
[Even I don't know why I spend like that] I don't even know why.
[Probably because you're grateful to the members] You feel a lot of gratitude inside!
- Yeah, that sounds right. - Right, right.
[So it makes you want to give more] So I want to give more
[To take care of the younger members even better] do a little more for them, take better care of them.
[A true leader, through and through...] You're a true leader.
[Sudden modesty] I've still got a long way to go.
[If Bang Chan hadn't been there?] Honestly, if it weren't for him
given our members' personalities
we would've been a disaster.
[The one who reins in the free-spirited members] If no one had kept us in check, everyone's so free-spirited...
[Agreed]
[With an extreme J tendency] He's an extreme J
[He has to carry out what he plans] the type who has to execute the plans he's made.
[If we just stick to the framework] So we stay somewhat within that framework
[We can move freely within it] and then move freely inside it.
But if he weren't there, we honestly would've
[Really lived up to the name 'Stray'] really lived up to the 'Stray' name.
[We all would have wandered] We would've all been wandering.
[We're always grateful to him...] So we're always grateful to him.
[By the way, Hyunjin, where are you from?] Hyunjin, where are you from?
Are you Korean?
[Sudden nationality controversy] Yes!
[Your pronunciation is so good] - Why me? - Your pronunciation is kind of...
[For a second it sounded native] Like you'd lived abroad…
[Because he keeps shouting 'Stray' when introducing himself] We keep saying 'Stray'
[He’s dug one well for 8 years] and we've been saying it for 8 years.
[Even his voice tone sounds hip] Even the tone sounds kind of hip, depending on how you hear it!
[Gyopo style] - Like gyopo style. - Yeah, a little…
[Q. Who participates in the choreography?] Then who takes part in the choreography?
[Hyunjin is the one who gives a lot of input] I think Hyunjin gives a lot of input.
[We get multiple drafts from different places] We get drafts from several places
and put them together well.
[We send a first version to the company and get feedback] We send it to the company, they give feedback
[Then we go through revisions] and we revise - that's usually how it goes.
[Teacher, I have a question] Oh, question! Then…
So before you present
the final combined choreography to the members, do you take part in shaping it?
[Q. Do you modify choreography in the middle of class?] Or do you change it on the fly while taking the class?
[We usually organize the choreography before class] No, we usually organize everything before we start class.
[Got it]
[What we changed while learning was] When I put together something was
back in our debut days
[Which could happen back then] we sometimes combined drafts on the fly.
[Now the system is stable] Now it's more systematic.
So you organize everything and
present it to the members cleanly, usually.
[Right] Ah, yes.
['Chk Chk Boom' was an exception] But for 'Chk Chk Boom', it was different.
[30 minutes before class] About 30 minutes before class
[We changed the chorus choreography] we changed the chorus.
When we tried the moves in front of the mirror
[We picked what looked more impactful] this looked like it had more punch.
[If all members agree, we switch it] We said, 'If everyone agrees, let's go with this'
[We gathered opinions then switched the choreo] and we did that sometimes.
We also do the reverse and take feedback.
[We pass the members' opinions along to the company when they give us a draft] The company combines ideas and gives them to us, and we say 'Here's how we think about it'
[Acting as the go-between for the company and the members] - Right, right. - and we coordinate like that.
Yeah, that sounds right.
The Stray Kids identity definitely feels
more solidified.
[As a peer] We're an idol group working in the same era
[And as another fan] and at the same time I'm a fan rooting for you
so I'm genuinely even more excited.
[Shy] - Aw. - Thank you.
For real.
[A team that makes you curious] You make people curious, you know?
What's coming next?
[You always come out with fun concepts] You always bring out something fun.
We're always expecting new genres
[Always new genres and performances they've never tried] and performances you've never done.
I'm so curious what people
will think of this one. Oh, of course!
[We’re curious about the public reaction, too, but] We are curious how the public will react
but the...
[Especially curious about people in the industry] - People in the industry! - Yeah!
[When seniors and juniors listen to our songs] Especially our seniors! And juniors, too!
[What they think of us] What they'll think of us
[Half anticipation, half concern] is something we both look forward to and worry about.
When a Stray Kids song drops
I'll watch with anticipation.
There could be some blunt feedback like
'Chan, why'd you do that?'
'Didn't I tell you not to wear a crop top?'
[Please spare the crop top] Please just avoid the crop top.
Let me wear it a bit more...
[Wear whatever you want]
Now, what's our next meat?
[Is there any cut we haven't had?] Wait, is there anything we haven't eaten?
Should we try a cut we skipped?
[After eating the assorted platter and even beef sashimi] Since we had this and the sashimi…
[Suddenly a master of beef] We've basically eaten the cow.
But are you not going to eat rice?
[It was so good we forgot the rice] - Oh, we didn't eat rice? - We forgot while eating.
Oh, you're right.
[What will we choose to close out the meal?] Then!
- How about the beef doenjang ramyeon? - Ah, ramyeon sounds great!
[Can’t hide his smile] Oh, as much as we ate today?
Thank you.
[Congratulations] Applause!
I’m jealous. Personally, I have to come here again.
Shall we come together?
[Project, make the introvert some friends] I’d love that.
[We’re nearby, come if you can.] We’re actually close by.
I’d really love that.
Filming NOPOGY, this place is one of the best.
Feels like TOP 3.
The beef was great.
Anyway, since you joined us, final thoughts from each of you?
I’ve actually watched this program.
I’m so grateful I got the chance to be on it.
I felt really comfortable.
[To the viewers, too] I hope you enjoyed it.
It was nice to have a good talk in a relaxed setting
with good people.
Thank you.
[Thanks for coming to hang out]
Yeah, so for me
first of all, the food was incredibly delicious.
Senior JUNGWOO and Senior SHOWNU!
I already felt an inner closeness to you
and after today I feel like we got closer
more at ease, more friendly.
It kind of felt like a blind date to me.
Then shall we end with a NOPO GET EAT?
[I’m not done yet] Hey, I’m still talking.
- Seriously! - I thought you were done.
Say a bit more.
Sorry, sorry.
Thanks to NOPOGY, we ate so well
and I think with this comeback
we’ll be able to show you a great side of Stray Kids.
[Please look forward to CEREMONY]
- Thank you. - Thank you.
- Let’s wrap with NOPO GET EAT. - Okay.
[Now for the actual NOPO GET EAT time] - We didn’t do the toast. - We didn’t do our cups.
I say NOPO, you say GET EAT.
- You lead. - Okay.
NOPO
GET EAT!
[NOPO GET EAT]
[Endless thank-yous] - Thank you. - Great work.
We need to get the owner’s signature.
[Owner autograph session to validate the meal voucher]
[With the owner’s signature, the voucher is complete] Why am I nervous?
We’re definitely going to come back and eat.
[We’ll definitely be back] Yes, definitely.
[Today’s winner shot]
[Thank you for the voucher]
